Absolutely delicious meal. From the moment we sat down we were instantly cared for and doted upon. Service was top notch. I ordered the Ribeye and my husband ordered the Prime Rib. Both were cooked to perfection and excellently seasoned. I have to say, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my Espresso Martinis. This was, by far, the best Espresso Martini I have ever had. Parking is plentiful as the restaurant is connected to a DoubleTree Hotel. The Ambiance is relaxed and elegant yet not afraid to cater to its guests. Stayed at the hotel connected to this restaurant for a conference and stopped by for a small dinner upon check in. My server was not very attentive or friendly and seemed more interested in serving the group of men at another table. I waited 15min at my table before she stopped by to take my order then another 20min after I finished my food (the busboy had already cleared my table). I would understand if it was a busy night, however, there was only two tables which were me and the group of 4 men. I was also disappointed with the "truffle fries" as it did not taste like truffle at all and just had a sprinkle of Parmesan on dry steak fries. Came in on a Saturday night. The ribs were good but expect a tangier sauce. The sauces tasted home made and the ribs were cooked perfectly. I would avoid the chopped salad. I love chopped salads and was looking forward to it but this almost came off more as a Cobb that you had to mix yourself. The tortellini soup was nothing special. Asked for a side of roasted potatoes and they were horrible. Dried out and hard seemed like they were from the day before. The homemade tiramisu was amazing. I'd go back just for that. Host staff was super friendly. Our waitress was not the best. Im sure she meant well but came off rude at times with her communication. The restaurant was clean with a sophisticated decor and a nice vibe at the bar. We went to this Jamison's location for Mother's Day, which we realize is a very busy day for restaurants and I made the reservation through OpenTable. We've never been to this particular restaurant before, and they wanted to seat us in an area of the restaurant where lots of people were in a very narrow space yet they have booths on each side and tables in the middle and it reminded me of a bowling alley, literally as thin as a bowling alley. It was extremely noisy and we found the noise level unacceptable. Thankfully they were able to seat us in the bar area, wonderful atrium style eating area with a beautiful bar and they had wonderful booth so we waited about 10 minutes. The noise level was zero as compared to a noise level of 100 in the other area. Hence, if you do decide to go to this Jamison's in Skokie off Skokie Boulevard it is highly recommended that you ask for a booth in the bar area and by the way, the food there was absolutely magnificent and that's why we selected Jamison's in the first place. I must mention again that the food was incredible. My wife and I split the surf and turf which was a filet and lobster and my wife's son had a chicken skewer which was fantastic and we had some wonderful dessert including a fantastic cheesecake. read more

I'm surprised by the variability of the reviews for this Jameson's location. Granted, this was our first visit, but we had delightful service. We had a great seat - a booth by the back of the floor. It was cold outside and I've had too many experiences where cold drafts come in when the exterior door opens. That was not the case here. Their menu has some wonderful items, but their specials caught my attention. I was a little surprised seeing very little seafood on their menu online. I realized that is because they get their seafood fresh daily and is on their specials menu. I chose not to order seafood, but one person in our party did. We all started with side salads. They were good, but the presentation was off. Generally salads are delivered and cover the plate evenly. This listed to one side. In fairness, the salad was good. For dinner, we had the Chicken Kabobs, and from the specials the Prime Rib and the Haddock. (I had the Prime Rib.) Prices were a little high but not too far off from what we expected. The Kabobs and the Haddock were both served with rice and our party raved about how good they were. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly. I don't care for fatty Prime Rib, and this was on the lean side. The Prime Rib had a choice of sides. Food allergies made me stick with steak fries (which could have been a little more cooked). The best part of the meal was the service. I really wish I remembered the name of our server. There can't be too many older gentlemen waiting tables, so I hope that clues the management of Jameson's as to who I'm referring to. He was wonderful, offering suggestions and guidance, letting us know to order quickly since we had plans to see a show at the theater next door after we ate, and stopped by regularly to ensure we were satisfied. When things go wrong, they make it right. We arrived early and sat at the bar casually drinking and talking before our play next door at Northlight Theater. Advised that the kitchen would get busy, thank you bar person, we ordered. When the food arrived my fish was over cooked. No problem. Quickly spirited away. But now the clock was ticking. It's replacement arrived quickly and, although a little rushed, we made it to our venue. Oh, and the replacement was much better. Perfect, actually. Jameson's has been our go to for events we attend next door. I am sorry to see Northlight Theater move to a different venue. But, as a rule, problems or not, this restaurant has been a reliable provider of good meals. Staff have always been engaging and personable and food is good. (Sad face) Ambiance is loud because it's the bar side, basketball on, a lot of people. The chef, took our order. That's a first. I'm all about people stepping in to help out, so hey! The food. London broil: Cooked perfect medium rare. My sense of taste is probably off though due to my severe allergies so I had to add a ton of salt. It didn't taste London-broily to me. Soft meat, fell apart. Mashed potato was a little dense. But it was fine. Chicken Marsala... bay leaf in the sauce, tasted fine. They offered us a dessert which we didn't want. But they sure tried to give us freebies, and eventually the third person brought one out, to which we say thanks, but I didn't eat it. I just have no real appetite. Maybe next time Jamison's The staff is friendlier this round than a few years ago, so props. Jameson's Charhouse is connected to the DoubleTree hotel I was staying at while in town for a conference so naturally I would check it out for mere convenience. They were so busy on the Sunday I came in for Mother's Day so I just ordered togo. I tried their namesake the Jameson's Burger ($19) that came with caramelized onions and cheddar cheese and I added Bacon ($3) and Fried Egg ($3). Their burger comes with fries and a mini scoop of coleslaw. I like the amount of bacon I got but the fried egg was popped and the buns were soggy. Considering it had all the ingredients I typically liked, I wasn't completely satisfied and I didn't finish the entire burger. Still due to convenience, I come back the next day. This time it was empty so I was able to dine in. Service was a mess. I could hear someone yelling at the staff about not putting bread in the oven and not having any bread for the customers. I'm not sure if there was suppose to be complimentary bread but I did not get any and the yelling was very stressful to hear from the dining area. This time I decided to try something from their specialties section hoping it would be better. I had Baked French Onion Soup ($9) and the full rack of the Baby Back Ribs ($33) which comes with mashed potatoes and a mini scoop of cole slaw. The Baked French Onion Soup came out first and it was really tasteless. It was probably one of the worst ones I have had. Not so bad it's inedible or anything but just bland. I was literally still eating when the ribs came out and the staff moved the soup away from me to put the ribs right in front of me... Like what the heck even if it sucks I'm like midway eating it. I moved it back in front of me. Like... I'm still eating that. The ribs were as disappointing. The barbecue was weak and the meat was not fall off the bone tender. I only ate 3 ribs worth since it wasn't too appetizing. The best thing about this meal was definitely the mashed potatoes. This place was so bad... For the rest of the week I would rather WALK further away and eat CHEAP BASIC PANERA than trust the rest of their menu or deal with their stressful service. I wasn't even spending my own money and I didn't think it was worth it to waste money here because I didn't want to subject myself to eat this food. That's pretty bad! read more

Food is great. Atmosphere is inviting with a classy feel and approach. Service was good, but slow. Jameson's Charhouse is located at 9525 Skokie Blvd, in Skokie. There is plenty of parking shared with the Doubletree by Hilton. I started with some table bread and butter. For dinner I went with the Broiled Chopped Steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms ($19). I enjoyed a baked potato with sour cream and butter and a side salad. For a beverage I went with a San Pellegrino mineral water ($7). I found the service to be slow but the ambiance and food make it a 5 star for me! She never told us her name and only spoke when absolutely necessary. She brought our food but never checked in on us. We had to ask for the check and then find her and give it to her. This is an amazing place to stop in Chicago for the best of a steakhouse! I was staying at the hotel a couple of years ago and they are so great to offer a breakfast plan for the guests. The breakfast alone is enough to keep me going back. Everything from the fruit, to the oatmeal (and the toppings for the oatmeal!) the potatoes and the eggs, always cooked perfectly and kept warm for the buffet breakfast. Whether I chose to order room service or go down to the restaurant, the food and atmosphere was all I could ask for, especially while staying at a hotel. Both the fish and beef items I ordered were delicious and an out of town guest even agreed on the food's excellence. Best of all, the dessert measures up to the other menu items! The service is also excellent, it is a very friendly and kind staff. A restaurant should be a comfort yet also bring a new experience. The menu choices of both the food and drinks made this a nostalgic place to eat, yet one that can compete with the new concepts of today. This might be one of the most underrated spots I've been to in Chicagoland. Don't let it being a "hotel restaurant" fool you. It's a local spot: family-owned, and the beef is locally sourced (as local as it gets in the city). The steaks are delicious; perfect cooks every time and always a nice char. Highly suggest adding the blue cheese crust if you're into that. Service has always been great! Every one of our servers has been kind and helpful. No complaints, they always make us feel at home. Ambiance is quite homey too. You can dress up and make it a fancy occasion, or come as you are and casually have a delicious meal. The soups are all great, the wedge salad is top notch, and I just can't say enough about the steaks! First off , I want to say as soon as we walked in we did not feel welcome. (FYI- I was with my girlfriend and newborn child). It was a Saturday evening at approximately 8pm. OK, Where do I begin...At first the waiter seemed really nice and friendly, a young man in his early 20s I would say...& I believe he said his name was "Adam"... although he brought out our food on time and even gave us recommendations.......it seemed like he was rushing us the whole time for no reason even though there were only 2 other tables. We started off with a soup n salad, and complimentary bread. We barely started eating before taking a few slices of the bread when he came back and said "Can I take the bread?" Me and my girlfriend just kinda looked at each other...because we barely cut a slice each and at least 3/4 of the bread was still on the table?? Then we told him.." we're still eating" ...we thought ok maybe this guy just wants to bring out the entree right away...like I said we barely started eating! ‍ so anyways about 5 min later he comes back and ask us again "Are you guys still working on the soup"...because I had just finished the salad. Again we were like..." yes still working on it " at which point he picked up the bread dish and asked if we wanted anymore. At which point we said that we were fine and no thank you. We again thought Jesus, this guy doesn't pick up on social cues?? He then yet comes back again 5 min later!?? And ask "Are u still working on that soup?" We became very uncomfortable at that point and kinda just gave him a blank stare?? Like WTF is this guys problem? And my girlfriend says "I'm done" I can tell she was just as annoyed with him as I was. So then he brings out the entrees...I had the NY steak, she had the fish. Anyways approximately 10 min into the meal...he comes back and asks us "Are you guys still working on that?" Mind you...I was literally cutting my steak right in front of him?? I'm trying to give this kid the benefit of the doubt...that he isn't the "R" word! (Yelp won't let me write this word on the review). but you know what I'm getting at...anyways, again we're like "yeah, still working on it??" He then walked away...at which point I looked at my girlfriend and said..." Is it me, or does it seem like this guy is trying to get rid of us??" She was very annoyed and says "I'm not sure, but he's really rude!" (mind you my girlfriend IS A WAITRESS!" She said "you don't ask people that especially when u see them eating??" I could see if there was a long pause and we were conversing the whole time not touching the food???" I agreed..I just thought maybe this kid is socially awkward and doesn't pick up social cues properly?? Or maybe this is his first job..‍ still trying to give him the benefit of the doubt...to be honest...his age played a big factor in this...he was really young...Not an older Caucasian. Anyways min later...he comes back with the check...(mind you, we never asked him for the check nor did he ask us??) -we both had at least 3/4 of our food on the plate still?? But my glass was practically empty...I figured he would notice and ask me if I wanted another drink...but no he casually walked away and says "whenever you're ready" now we're both very annoyed!! Again he comes back yet again 3 min later and ask "Are u guys done??" I'm like WTF??? Again I literally was chewing this $45 rubber steak (which he recommended when I asked him which steak had the least fat on it between the ribeye and the NY steak) & the loaded potato was overcooked and the cheese was already hardened when he brought it out. It was horrible...I couldn't believe how bad the food was! The food was insult to injury to the service we received! If that wasn't bad enough...he came back 2 more times and again asked..." Are u guys still working on your food?" ‍ we then just kinda ignored him at that point and I requested another drink . Which should of been common sense that I was obviously not done! He brought out my drink and walked away, at which point the manger came and asked us "Can I run this for you" While I was still EATING! Pointing to the check and the card. Our waiter then comes back and kinda looks around for the check...and i explained to him the manager took care of it already. He then came back and had the audacity to ask us if "Everything was ok?" And "How was the streak?" As though he provided us with such great service...me and my girlfriend couldn't believe the on this kid!! It was hard for me to hold back what I really wanted to say...so I merely replied "It was ok" he then replied "Ok then have a good night!" Just so no one thinks I made this up I posted a pic of the receipt that night with the initials J.D. not sure if this was the manager's name or the waiter. I was most appreciative of Joe's service on my final meal in the bar. High attention to details and despite the very busy service he didn't miss a beat. Throughout the week I had the chop, chicken Marsala, chicken sandwich and burger. Really appreciated the prompt salad following my order on all occasions as I was hungry. They came with my drink along with fresh bread. Small things like bussing the tables quickly and the fun sounds from the kitchen while being served in the dinning room stood out. I had a horrible time in my dealings with this restaurant (or lack of). As planned, I had a reservation for Valentine's Day (Feb 14, 2025), and was looking forward to trying out the space. Well planned ahead, I journeyed to Skokie with my date. Unfortunately life happens, and the day of there was a city ordinance shut down in Skokie due to a water break, yes. However Jameson's Charhouse never communicated that. Upon arriving after my hour plus drive, I spoke with Host JD, who admitted to the team lack of communication. Looking to be seated for a mid evening dinner, we now knew the space was closed, but they had yet to notify any reservation. As JD said, they were inside just beginning to call reservations in the middle of the night. Very disappointing. To follow up JD assures us that we will receive a call, and some type of accommodation. That call never came. The restaurant never followed up. I called to speak with someone before even leaving this review. It just simply never happened. My reservation was literally closed out the following day. Dino was my good server. Baked potato came with only sour cream but still had butter from the bread. Ordered mushrooms with my steak but didn't get them despite them appearing on my bill. Asked him to remove them from my bill which he did. Should not be hard for the chef to pay attention to details or for the server to not catch this as he brought it out.
