Dr. Houck & her staff were absolutely pleasant! I came in because I got referred to her by a doctor back in my home city, San Jose. I came in and they treated me with kind eyes and respect. They question me about getting Covid testing but I think it was just protocol. Dr. Houck is an Invisalign master! No kidding. I have always had crooked teeth because we couldn't afford the recommended orthodontia when I was a child. As an adult I thought I was too old to straighten my teeth. But my dentist, Dr. Mellert, thought I might be a candidate for Invisalign. I met with Dr. Houck for an evaluation, and she thought it could be done. I had a double-crossbite with a tooth way out of place that looked like it would need to come out. She was hopeful that it could be done WITHOUT removing that tooth. I was all in. Mine was a tough case, but nine painless months later I am 50 pounds lighter, my smile is perfect, and that funky tooth is right where it should be. Dr. Houck managed to create just enough space to get alignment without removing the tooth. Invisalign has truly changed my life. Those 50 pounds? Dr. Houck stressed that it was important to wear the tooth trays for 22 hours a day (or as close to that as possible) to get the best results. My snacking days were over! I had been trying to lose weight and this was just the help I needed. Now of course Dr. Houck does not make weight-loss claims; I'm just sharing my own experience. She does promise to straighten your teeth, though, if you're the right candidate. I have been to Dr. Houck now for a full year with two standard cleanings and checkups. She is an amazing dentist and has excellent bedside manner. She was really thorough with the checkup and going through my X-rays and explained everything very well so a normal person could understand what's going on in my mouth. She didn't leave anything a mystery and even explained how I can help prevent any potential issues going forward. The office is really nice and clean, with modern equipment and TV to watch during my cleaning. My hygienist was super friendly and caring too (no pain inflicted!). When I called to reschedule my appointment, the office staff was very friendly and accommodating. I'm overall very impressed and recommend Dr. Houck to everyone looking for a good dentist who isn't trying to price gouge or perform unnecessary services! Added bonus - she checked my 1 1/2 year old's mouth to ensure everything was growing in and looking healthy. Dr. Mellert Houck is amazing. I don't think I've had a dentist be so thorough in explaining what is happening with my teeth. She spotted a cavity on a wisdom tooth which went undetected in my xrays and recommended I do remove that; but then again it was a referral for a specialist so it's not like some upselling of her services which you hear about from other dentists. Lastly, I normally have to use a cream they rub on my gums because they get sensitive during the clean. With Dr. Houck, she was so gentle I didn't need it! She did offer it during the clean and asked me to let her know if I ever felt discomfort but never had to. Very nurturing and I can see why she works so well with kids. I first became a patient of Dr. Mellert's about 8 years ago and due to my previous dentophobia my mouth needed a lot of repairs. I had an amazing experience having Dr. Houck and her staff introduce me to Invisalign. Who knew such a wonderful thing existed! They did such a wonderful job of explaining each step as it was approached and then talking me through it. A rapport was established immediately, which is very important to me. And they did an excellent job of following all of the guide lines for the Covid-19 virus. I had complete confidence in them when I walked into the office and saw them all completely covered from head to foot and wearing masks and shields and gloves. And then there is the final result of my Invisalign experience. I was originally scheduled to be done in about eight months, which alone makes it unbelievable since I wore braces as a teenager for three years! But because of the suggestions they gave me to help me understand how important each step was I finished in June. It took me a long time however I have FINALLY found a dentist who takes the time to really see what is needed when looking at my teeth. She has found several items that needed to be addressed from decay to gum issues and always explains what she is doing as it is happening. I am always comfortable and never feel any pain as I am going through some very intensive dental work from crowns to gum issues etc. The staff in the office are friendly, helpful and so very personable that I feel like they really care about u also I highly recommend Dr. Houck to anyone looking for a caring, knowledgeable doctor. Well, I have had friends get Invisalin braces but they were younger and I thought they looked amazing after a painless process. I decided to go ahead and start the process even though I am now a "senior". I was skeptical but Jamie was so sweet and considerate and really knows her stuff. I have a small mouth with big teeth so there was an overlap in front and side teeth were pointing inward. The transformation in my appearance is fantastic and after 1 year, I now have a better smile with straight front teeth and have more teeth showing in my smile. Yes, it is inconvenient to keep wearing the braces, taking them out to eat, drinking clear liquids and brushing afterward before putting them back in. However, the end result is worth the trouble.
