i have been going to Dr. Mellert for years & years, on & off. Usually when i have an urgent or urgent-ish situation OR he's rescued me from poor advice & treatment recommendations given by other dentists (i.e. not necessary/needed/greed driven) & he HAS truly rescued me!! He & Dr. Houck (who is lovely & great) & Dr. Brown, also a great dentist But I've also gone for regular checkups & cleanings in the past. They don't take my insurance unfortunately (so, i go to them for cleanings, but don't trust them for other stuff, my insurance dentist I mean). i DID. i had a wonderful dentist do a filling on me, but then the next time i went the dentist i got was rude, short w/me & told me i needed a slew of things done on my teeth that i did not! only 1 of those things was done, or needed, by Dr. Mellert, i had an infected root up under a crown & he treated it & gave me a root canal & crown in it's place. so that experience put me off on them, other than cleanings, those are still fabulous. :) Dr Mellert is my go-to guy for any & all dental procedures. He's done root canals on me, fillings, a bridge & he's saved me & my teeth from some scary & really expensive things. wow, sounds like i have no natural teeth left. i do! almost all of them, haha. anyway, He has worked w/me on the financials of it all & been VERY great as a dentist & a human being!! He is so knowledgeable, totally professional, a very interesting person, he loves his work (it's his passion & that's huge!) & he's an ARTIST as well. there is so much artistry to his work & he is like a wonderful sculptor. Everything he's done in my mouth has been pretty perfect, if not straight out perfect. He is a very busy man & so is the practice, but they also go out of their way to fit you in & to see you in a timely manner. I mention the business because i read some of the comments from people say they were treated coldly or rudely & I can see how they could come to that conclusion, but it's not the case. some dentists will sit there w/you forever answering questions & so on, but Dr. Mellert's schedule is packed. that's not to say he doesn't or won't address questions & concerns with you. he has always addressed any of mine & then some. i think the patient (you) need to be clear beforehand, when scheduling even, that you have questions and/or concerns & want to be sure that the doctor has time to address these w/you, OR speak up when you are there. that's just the nature of a busy practice. they don't have a lot of free time for chit chat, but i'm in agreement that kindness & courtesy on the phone are VERY important! bottom line: DR. Mellert & other dentist mentioned are EXCELLENT & very trustworthy, i don't know IF i could trust my mouth & teeth to any other dentist at this point. I wish I could give 0 stars, but the one star is for the fantastic hygienist who provided great cleaning for my husband and I. Apart from her (Danielle, I think?), I would NOT RECOMMEND this practice. My husband and I were new to the area and was introduced to Dr. Mellert's office from a friend. I called and checked to make sure that they accept our insurance by providing all the information while booking an appointment months in advance. They confirmed that accept our insurance and so we both got our cleaning done on two different days. We both agreed that the hygienist was great, but Dr. Mellert came in to say hello and didn't even ask us if we had any questions or concerns. He breezed in and left right away. After that first cleaning, we both agreed we wouldn't return. No harm done, he's just not a thorough dentist (who tried to sell me to try out invisalign, and that's another story of how unprofessional Dr. Houck was: I had a consultation scheduled for the same day as the cleaning, but she rushed out without answering any concerns. I can understand that your child's first Christmas recital is important, but why was I not notified of that sooner so that I could reschedule instead of having you breeze through without answering any questions? I did reschedule another consultation but later cancelled it as I didn't appreciate how irresponsible that interaction was. It takes time and energy to receive consultation, even if it's at "no cost" to your office, and I definitely did not appreciate how unprofessional she was). However, we just got a call today saying that they DON'T accept our insurance and that we'd have to pay out of pocket. I understand that we signed the forms to state that we will be responsible to pay, but their website clearly states: "Our team will verify your insurance benefits for dental treatment" on the first page. If we had been notified prior to the day of appointment (where i'd given AMPLE time in between the initial call to the day of appointment), we would not have agreed to forgo with the cleanings. Their office was very misleading and unprofessional. We will NOT be returning and certainly do NOT recommend. read more

They took care of me. I had to get a crown and a filling today. Martha helped guide me through it all. Dr Brown did my filling. He was very pleasant and quick. Dr Mellert was pleasant too.He made sure I was totally numb and comfortable throughout the process.. It didn't not hurt!! I'm trying to get my husband to go..Dr Mellert's staff is friendly and his office is really nice. They really take care of the patients..Even gave me "breakfast " before the procedure. Lol it was vanilla ensure to make it stay full after since I wouldn't be able to eat anything for a few hours. Great service. So glad this is our new dentist office. read more

12/27/23 was my first visit. The reviews you see posted are all on point... not fabricated in the least!! From making the appointment to checking in and the service are all STELLAR!! Everyone is friendly, the technology for the X-rays was more comfortable and easier than I've experienced in the past. I was very impressed that part of my examination included Dr. Mellert examining my "glands", and checking under my tongue for oral cancer!! I told him in the 55 years of going to the dentist that I have NEVER had a dentist check my glands or check for oral cancer. When I shared about my dental visit with 3 of my friends, they all said that they NEVER experienced having this examination during a visit to the dentist either! Dr. Mellert is also a man of faith which is very important to me. I feel I am very blessed to have discovered his practice online! read more

I've been a patient at this dental practice for many years. The staff are extremely friendly, professional and accommodating. I recently had orthodontic treatment via Invisalign with Dr. Houck and am immensely happy with my results, as well as with the entire process. I was surprised to go to my dental appointment to find out that I needed a crown to be replaced. I was told that the crown that I had was 20 years old. I was told that they only last about 7 years. I started going to Dr. Mellert about 5 years ago. Before then, I absolutely hated going to the dentist. I was petrified! As a result, I never went for my usual 6 month clean ups for years. When I had tooth pain, a friend referred me to Dr. Mellert. I ended up needing a root canal and Dr. Mellert explained every step to me and kept me calm knowing how scared I was. As a result, I'm not scared (or at least not AS scared) anymore. I've kept my 6 month appointments since then. Gigi is my hygenist and she's amazing. Everything is very clean which is very much appreciated especially during COVID times. They have a tv playing in front of every exam chair to entertain you and help distract you. I had put off my regular schedule visit due to the CoronaVirus. I wasn't sure I wouldn't be exposed or be an exposer, but I realized I couldn't continue to avoid maintaining my dental health due to a fear of exposure. After all, I couldn't imagine how we could stay 6 feet apart with my mouth wide open. But, I went 9/14/2020 and everything was handled in a very safe and efficient manner. Following the instructions from authorities on safe practices, we got it done with just a little change. Thanks Connie and Dr. Mellert's team for helping me keep the mouth healthy. read more

Dr. Mellert office is very classy with a lot of art work and fancy furniture. So if you like that and don't mind paying for that then this is your place. He made a few mistakes and his work is no better than where I am now. His cleanings are double what I pay. BLUE COAST DENTAL has state of the art equipment and very friendly people very clean office. As a recovering nervous patient, I appreciate the competence and calmest - and the nitrous! I've had a lot of work done over the years and can tell that Dr. Mellert is technically excellent in addition to his good patient relation skills. He always explains the options and the procedures so you understand what is going on. The whole office reflects his attitude. Have been working with Dr. Houck for a while and she has brought in Dr. Mellert for consultations also. I came from a dentist whose answer to every issue was to pull a tooth and put in an implant. Drs Houck and Mellert would rather do all they can to save a tooth. I have very bad gums and have had surgery many times and this office gave me a deep cleaning and said wait 6 weeks and see how it is- Amazing! No surgery needed and no surgery expense incurred. Makes me feel at ease. Dr Mellert also checked my teeth and X-rays. He also adjusted my particle which had come loose. Dr. Mellert and his staff are fabulous! I had a major dental accident that required 4 root canals, and 2 implants. Dr. Mellert acted as the 'quarterback' and his staff set me up with appointments with the other dental professionals. People don't even now know that I've had tooth issues. One of my biggest reasons for coming here is Gigi! She is the VERY sweet, fun hygienist that takes great care of my teeth and is always on time and works the early morning shift! Dr. Mellert had many positive reviews but since the office moved, yelp apparently deleted them! I am a patient for 2 years now and am so happy I switched from my 30 plus years dentist! I have a lot of ill fitting restorations that I am currently having replaced by Dr. Mellert. No way do I enjoy going to the dentist, but I do adore his staff, we always have a good laugh! I appreciated the written treatment plan, which helps decide when I can go and what it will cost me out of pocket. The office is nice and modern, parking is a breeze, staff fun and friendly and the DR explains treatment in a way anyone can understand!
