We came here after a wedding. I was excited to be here for the first time since some of our friends go there. When we got there it was pretty empty, but that's ok. It was a group of us so we grabbed some tables and sat down. I went to the bar to get some drinks for everybody and waited .... And waited. I waited about 20 min and was not approached or served. The 2 bartenders ( 1 young female and a male in his 40s) weren't busy so I'm not sure why they wouldn't approach me. The bar was half empty so I know they saw me. I kept looking back at our friends confused as to why I wouldn't get served. After a while I just got up., my wife and I left. I apologized to my friends for leaving but I told them I that was my first and last time. Major disappointment , but all good. read more

Nice Mexican place on Route 3. The staff is very friendly and the food was good. I got the chicken enchiladas and cleaned my plate. I also tried fried ice cream for the first time. Cinco de Mayo was a bust at El Pino. Almost 1 hour to get a table - understandable. Another 1 hour to just get water - ridiculous, margaritas only serves once I went to the bar where they were sitting on tray and another hour to get food. Fajita pans came, but then sat on the table another 15 mins before the fixings were brought out. Wait staff kept walking by us not paying any attention. But the real kicker came when they brought the check. Charging extra for hot salsa? Also ridiculous! If anything we would have expected some kind of goodwill gesture for the abysmal service. Even a plate of churros would have been acceptable. Time spent there to get 1 drink and 1 entree per patron x6, almost 4 hours. Maybe they bit off more than they can chew with that bar area. read more

We stopped in after doing some Saturday shopping and I was thankful because the drinks are on point. The food was decent, but if I return it will be for the drinks. I tried the texanas Fajitas and received a nice portion of food. The chicken and shrimp were good, but the steak didn't have much flavor. I also got a chille relleno on the side, but will never do that again. The best thing about it was the cheese sauce; other than that it was flavorless. They wrapped it up almost like a taco which was a bit weird. The waiter was good with the service, and the restaurant had a good vibe. I look forward to my next visit. The food at this restaurant is very flavorful and the corn tortillas are actually hand made. Great selection of beer including Mexican beer that's not commercialized such as Cerveza Sol. Music is great even at the bar. I would like to give Melanie a shoutout, her service goes above and beyond, she makes really good cocktails and her service was so nice that she made me feel that Hispanic hospitality people like to talk about and I even told her she should look into doing sales. Literally everything we've ever had here is so delicious and flavorful, the chorizo queso is reason enough to come alone. Staff are ALWAYS so sweet and helpful. The ambiance is unique to other restaurants and the artwork is very nicely done. I stopped in for lunch on a weekday, getting there around 1PM, which I would assume was after the lunch rush, but this place was packed! The parking lot was packed and so was the inside. There were lots of servers working, so I didn't have to wait long for service, but the food did take a little bit to prepare. Their salsa & chips (complimentary) are the typical from these "authentic Mexican" joints... thin and liquidy, with a little bit of flavor, but not much. The chips were thicker, I prefer not so thick and hard. I asked for their hotter salsa, which is a tomatillo style, but it literally tastes like they simply put El Yucateco Salsa Picante de Chile Habanero Green into a basic verde salsa that they made, so I wasn't too impressed, but it was definitely spicy! My entrée arrived - it was a single taco and single enchilada on a platter with rice & beans... The rice and beans were decent. The taco and enchilada were boring and toooo "Americanized" for me, meaning they hardly had any spicy flavor to them (cumin, chili, etc). Service was decent and friendly though. Would I return? Nope, I'm good sticking with El Jimador in Stafford. read more

El Pino Authentic Mexican Restaurant 12/8/2023 As relatively new residents of the Fredericksburg area, my wife and I have been trying out the plethora of restaurants and breweries in the area. A co-worker of my wife said we had to try El Pino, a Mexican restaurant in western Fredericksburg. so last night we had dinner at El Pino Authentic Mexican Restaurant, and the it did not disappoint. It is located on Route 3 just west of I95. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess, who showed us to our booth. It was a Friday night, so the place was doing a very brisk business.  Our server brought us the obligatory chips and salsa. We were delighted to find out that the chips were warm. My wife started with a margarita, and I had a Modelo draft. The maragrita came to the table flaming, which was pretty cool. My wife reported that her drink was very good. As an appetizer, we ordered Ceviche. It came with saltine-type crackers, but we found using the chips was tastier. the Ceviche was full of shrimp and other seafood, and didn't taste too much of lime. Sometimes Ceviche can taste a bit too "limey".  For our entree, we both ordered soft tacos. I ordered Al Pastor tacos, with pineapple. My wife had shredded pork. Both were served with beans and rice. The tacos were wonderful. The pork was cooked perfectly, and not overdone. Very enjoyable. Since it was our first time eating there and we wanted to test out the food, we also ordered an a la carte Chile Relleno and a Tamale. The  Tamale was good, but the Chile Relleno was excellent. I get that from my wife, who loves them. Our server was very friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant was quite inviting. And though the menu had fairly standard Mexican dishes, they were all very tasty and we will certainly come back again. read more

Stopped by for lunch and everything was perfect. The service was friendly and prompt and our meal arrived quickly. My vegan sister got the vegetarian taco salad and was very happy with her selection. I figured anything with super in the name had to be good and it was. I got the carnitas super burrito and it was delicious. This place was packed! We went for a little birthday dinner and had a great time. Our waiter was attentive and friendly and the restaurant itself has a nice relaxed vibe. It is very small inside though and parking is horrible. The food is also mediocre. Everything is very very plain. The enchilada was ok and the rice tastes like plain rice, no real flavor to it at all, nachos were fine, chalupa terrible and was actually like a tostada, the quesadilla had bland chicken and cheese, and the beans were just not very good because again just no flavor. All the food needed a touch of seasoning. The margaritas although huge need to be reworked as well. They taste very syrupy. Nonetheless it was a good overall experience. We were greeted upon arrival . Was seated right away . Waiter brought us chips and salsa , it was fresh . we order menudo , for those of you who aren't familiar it is soup with tripes in it with hominy , it comes with sides of onion and cilantro . you can dress it up however you want . Sometimes it comes out rather bland so you might have to add salt according to how you like it . I always ask for their homemade salsa which is spicy if you ask me . tried their horchata and it was delicious! Their Michelada was pretty good too. From the chips, quac and queso dip, to chimichanga, tacos and drinks, this was a great stop after a long hurricane avoiding road trip. Will plan a trip through here again. Met up with friends for lunch (they chose the spot), I have never been. Review based on table overall, there was 7 of us. Two of us did the lunch special, which for the price was a pretty good deal (2 tacos, rice & beans) for $4.99, taste was decent. One of us ordered Menudo, with a cheese quesadilla- Menudo was good, quesadilla was very lacking, not much cheese and cold. Another ordered Chimichangas, extra fried, complaint was not very crispy. One of us was very happy with Burrito Supreme. Chips and Salsa was okay. Our server had a cold or something, kept coughing which kind of ruined the overall experience for me. Do not order delivery!!!!! El pino food is good but order was missing items. DoorDash delivers for them and blamed el pino. When called El Pino they blamed DoorDash. Nobody wanted to get my missing items to me. Sadly, I tipped ahead so guess doordash didn't feel the need to earn it. read more

Amazing service! We were a group of 7 people and the staff was very receptive to accommodating our needs. Just like any Mexican restaurant, they start you off with chips and salsa. We thought the chips were slightly stale and our waiter had no problem replacing them for us! Salsa was delicious! They have a pretty good selection of margaritas to choose from. I ordered the watermelon one but thought it was extremely sweet. I wasn't able I finish it because It felt like I was drinking syrup. Very reasonably priced food. I ordered the super burrito and asked the waiter if he could make it vegetarian. This burrito is HUGE! I recommend splitting it with someone! It was stuffed with fajita veggies and zucchini. Overall I thought it was a little too salty for my taste. Our table had also ordered a side of guacamole and queso. The guacamole was okay... I thought the garlic taste was very overpowering.
