Came here with family for the first time. The food was pretty good they had $1 tacos which wasn't too bad. I ended up getting the chicken burrito which was pretty good. I felt like the food could've been a little more seasoned. I didn't have that authentic Mexican flavor to me, compared to other restaurants I been to. The decoration in the restaurant was pretty cool. I love the attention to details and decor they had I did not use the bathroom there so I cant speak on the bathroom. There was also plenty of parking in the parking lot. The staff was very welcoming when you come in in our server, greeted us at the table fairly quickly to grab our drinks. My son ordered a burrito that was absolutely massive--so stuffed with fillings that it could barely maintain its structural integrity. I went with the steak lunch fajitas, and the steak was seasoned perfectly. The onions and peppers were done just right, and both the black beans and refried beans had excellent flavor. My only slight nitpick was the complimentary table salsa, which was a bit underwhelming on flavor. However, they completely redeemed themselves with the house hot sauce that came out with the meal--that stuff was outstanding. If I could give this place 0 stars I would only gave one star bc I had to do so to write this post. The service here is absolutely horrific every single week. I only continue to come here bc the tacos are $1. Today 8/26 I ordered 3 shredded chicken tacos to eat then and 5 grilled chicken to go. My friend ordered the same thing with no toppings. I get home the 5 tacos were not chicken (not the 1st or 2nd time this has happened) they were Al Pastor. I called the store to advise them abt the mistake and I would be coming back up there in 15 minutes to get this corrected. Well it's now 9:29pm I've been sitting for 30 mins waiting for my tacos to be remade (after calling ahead of time) then a girl comes out and says they had to make tortilla that's why it's taking so long. I spoke with manager she advised 2 mins again I've already been waiting 27 mins at the time for 10 tacos to be remade. All the workers act like they don't understand English when u talk to them and look at you crazy when asking for stuff. They move fast don't take time to listen and always make mistakes. In addition to all of this the food is bland as hell rice nasty even their salsa is bland I literally only come for the special and today might be my last time for that as this shit gets old. The owner whom I went to hs with does nothing to every correct the issue he just walks around. The manager tries but it's too far gone in my opinion this whole establishment needs to be closed or opened under new ownership. The drinks always watered down also. Well. I am a bit of a Mexican snob....but I looked this place up on Yelp while traveling and it looked good! Well....the reviews on Yelp were true. This. Place. Is. Wonderful. The first thing that you will notice is that the people here are very friendly. I was greeted by Fileberto. He escorted me to the bar (my choice) so I could eat and watch Sports Center. I ordered the Queso and chorizo. This is my thing. If it's on the menu, I am ordering it and judging you. Lol. Their dish was good enough. Not anything to jump up and down about, but it was serviceable. HOWEVER, Fileberto offered me a margarita. I asked if he could do frozen and he said "yes." He the. Offered several different flavor options. I momentarily passed out from the joy. He brought me one of the best frozen margaritas in recent memory. It far eclipsed the one I had in Chicago three weeks back. Far.......far.... It came with a regular lime (I squeeze the lime onto the top of the margarita and drink it...so, yay!!!), A slice of orange and a flaming half line!!! Yes...flaming. I was sitting there thinking ...trying to figure out how to put this flaming lime out so that I could can actually get to the drink... And I couldn't figure it out... And then I finally grabbed a tortilla chip and extinguished the lime with the tortilla chips. This actually made me kind of happy. #winning. I took a sip and it took my right to Mexico. I am sure that frozen margaritas are an American thing... But it is certainly what I think Mexico should be. I looked through the menu, which was pretty expansive for a Mexican place. Everything here is said to be from scratch/fresh . So I was excited. I saw a Molcajete on the yelp menu and I opted for that. When it arrived. it looked amazing. Beef and chicken plus grilled shrimp, cactus leaves, chorizo, and grilled onions -- all covered in a sauce that they made. and then when I asked for hot sauce, Filiberto did not bring me a bottle of Cholula, he went to the kitchen and got their own signature housemaid hot sauce. Are you kidding me? I am doing this whole 30 diet thing... Which means I left the beans and rice, pasta tortillas on the plate and simply eighth Murrieta out of the market yet itself with a knife and fork. It was bursting with flavor and I sat at the bar shaking my head from side to side, thinking that this was one of the better meals I've ever had. They thought I was saying no but what I was actually saying is, "no, I cannot believe that this is as amazing as it is... Because it is." Filiberto came back a number of times just to make sure that I was enjoying my meal, which I appreciated. Kilo, (promlnounced "Kee-low") came by to make sure I was enjoying my meal and I told him that I was really enjoying it. Funny thing, they all said "see you tomorrow." Easily the best fajitas I have ever had. I figured it would be good, the place was packed, there devour was traditional, and they were playing like mariachi music. I was not expecting that in Virginia. My fajitas came in a cored out pineapple with big pieces of grilled pineapple. I was really surprised at how good pineapple is on fajitas. Before the movies, we wanted you to get a bite to eat. The location of this restaurant is right off Rt. 3/Plank Rd but there's only one way in (next to Casual Male XL). They have interior and exterior seatings. The interior has multiple colorful decor throughout restaurant. Our server Joann was friendly and patient. We order 6 items: 1) Mexican burger 2) Rancho quesadilla 3) Chicken chimichangas 4) Mango margarita 5) Pina colada. 1) The burger was two smashed patties, one smashed chorizo, cheese, lettuce, sauté onions, but it lacked seasoning. It's served with shoestring fries which lacked seasoning too. 2) Rancho quesadilla was filled with onions, green bell peppers and steak topped with cheese sauce. It was flavorful and tasty. 3) The chimichanga was served with two small burritos filled with chicken topped with cheese sauce and served with beans. It was good. 4) The Sampler served with two pieces of drumsticks, two chicken quesadillas, 4 taquitos and cheese sauce. The two drinks were very delicious. I stopped by here with my friends, after hearing lots of good things about the restaurant. We were greeted by warm and welcoming customer service, and seated promptly. The salsa and chips were immediately brought out to the table. The chips were nice and hot, and the salsa was flavorful and rich tasting! Our waiter Victor was very kind and uplifting! We spoke in Spanish mostly, and he even taught my friends a few new sayings in Spanish. Now onto the main course. I ordered chicken mole enchiladas, and they were beyond delicious! I ordered carne asada and it tasted like fish not steak. I tried to tell the waitress but she didn't really speak English or understand me. She went and got one of the young ladies and she took the food to get redone. When they brought the food back out it didn't taste like fish as bad but the taste was still there. The waitress claimed they cleaned the grill twice but it was obvious the grill was dirty. My wife and son's food was very bland and they didn't care for it either. We definitely won't be back. My husband and I have eaten here twice. The first time we went, my opinion was, place was bright, cheerful and inviting. We ordered tableside guacamole, that was not made tableside like other Mexican restaurants we've eaten at (and we have been to literally dozens), but the Guacamole was good nevertheless. Salsa was super thin and I prefer a thicker, chunkier salsa, although the flavor wasn't bad. We got unsweetened iced teas that were good; tasted fresh brewed. We split the Fajitas Texanas. Fajitas were delicious. Service was just okay. Place was busy though. Second experience...it's a Friday at dinner. Place was not at all busy. We ordered the Nachos Supreme this time. Requested no ground beef; just all chicken and beans. Very small portion; there was barely any chicken or beans on them, they had chunks of lettuce that should have been cut down more, and they forgot the pico de gallo. Server didn't check on us not once. Music stopped playing just a few minutes after we sat, and they never restarted it, so we could just hear the kitchen staff the entire meal. I overheard another patron complaining they messed his meal up too. It just turned out to be a huge disappointment that I never want to make again. Based on my second trip there, I don't forsee them staying open very long at this rate. I'll stick with my ol favorite in Fredericksburg. read more
