We brought our Doberman here due to a racing arrhythmia. Knowing DCM and having lost three others to this disease, time was of the importance. Dr Meltzer was able to perform both a EKG and an Ultrasound, to get the best information on why, what and how to treat our girl. We were able to be in the exam room and watch these tests being performed. That was much appreciated, to see the care they took with her. Both Dr Meltzer and Shannon were wonderful with our girl. As suspected by us, she was diagnosed within DCM/V-Tac. Appropriate medications were given to us, with her being dosed before we left. Scripts were received, Wedgewood compounding pharmacy received another script, for Pimobendan, which we already had an account there. All in all, things fast tracked once we arrived. Anyone with a Doberman and having gone thru DCM; knows the significance of catching this early and starting treatment. Although there is no cure, their life can be extended. We left there with a follow up appointment in two weeks, to do another EKG, to ensure the medication is working for our girl. Walked out with a complete written report explaining her condition, test results and everything needed to know about this diagnosis, including her medications. Honestly, having had three other Dobermans go thru this situation; this is the first time we were able to "see it all" with the testing. That is so important to us and very much appreciated they allowed us to be in the exam room. This was the most personalized experience we have ever had at a cardiologist appointment. Pulling out all the stops during "Covid" he was treated elsewhere and was doing well - Antibiotics helped and a new Vet finally took him in Dec. 2020. Unfortunately by then my Cat had too many sedated procedures which put him in Stage 4 Kidney Failure. I am lost without my boy. Stay away from Animal Schoolhouse - A Cat that does not eat or drink for three days is not a priority to the receptionist currently working there.

His diagnosis appeared relatively accurate but seemed all a come on to buy the supplements he offers through a single source in Wisconsin. I would stay away from Dr Youngs services for those reasons. This is only my opinion. You have to decide for yourself, but hopefully this will forewarn you what might happen if you decide you want to engage his services.

She had been…read morelimping since 4 yrs of age (she is about 10 now) and was diagnosed with an ACL injury and three conventional vets (open to Holistic approach) told us that surgery was the only option. We worked with Dr. Young and initially I was a little on the fence with the prices not being clear. I clarified my reticence frankly but politely with Dr. Young and he was happily able to break down the charge. And let me tell you it was not expensive at all - his price included detailed consults and supplements he sent out with his own two hands! This was again something I hesitated about because I'd been pushed so many useless products in the past. Not so with Dr. Young. Whatever he gave my dogs - worked! He even credited money, without us having to return the product on one of the bottles where my dog was allergic to shellfish. Within a couple of years of s.l.o.w recovery my six year dog has been running as if she got a brand new set of ligaments! That is the thing with alternative practices, sometimes they take time. And in the process everyone gets to grow! We regularly hike 2-3 mile loops and she races down the peak at Funston park, giving her lil' sister a good run. We are very grateful. Also before complaining one should look at what 'normal' vet fees are. No vet's office will even agree to see you before slapping an 'initial consult' + consult charge that comes close to at least a $150 a dog! This norm is independent of geography : we are talking vets in major cities of the NorthWest, Chicago (Midwest), Pittsburgh area, and the Bay Area; all places we have lived in. Heartbreakingly, our dog has just recently been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer and we are once again working with dear Dr. Young to augment our dog's quality of life in her last days. He is so supportive of my choices in treating her/helping her with home remedies as well. Not so young Dr. Young is from older times where people, politeness, service, genuine caring and integrity were the norm of life. He is a living example of that. Healers like him are rare to find and I have worked with so many holistic practitioners, I should know. If I am coming across as a huge fan of his, it is because I am. So is my husband. UPDATE: For my older dog, my conventional vets had written her life span off to less than a month, and with Dr. Young, we were able to get 7 quality months with her - enough time to love her some more, take her swimming, camping and hiking her little heart out. Except for the last two days before she passed away she ate healthy meals, was in minimal discomfort and breathed her last in my arms in our home. She passed away in full consciousness: looked at all family members in turn, pressed her paws into my thighs real tight and closed her eyes for her final sleep. How much did it cost us for her entire care post diagnosis? - less than $500! Dr. Young kept in touch with us throughout and upheld us on truly difficult days. Sadly though, he passed away recently at the ripe age of 84. We feel an immeasurable loss in his passing, and he'll always be in our affection and gratitude.
