My sweet, sweet pup on a soft velvet blanket, provided by the wonderful techs (Amanda and Danielle).
    Kay L.

My experience here in mid June 2024 was very special. I cannot say enough good things. My 12 year old fospice (foster + hospice) pup's health rapidly declined in a matter of hours. I knew what to look for, and immediately rushed him to NorthStar Vets (in Maple Shade). Dr. Sayeed conducted a thorough exam, and we both agreed that it was time to let him go peacefully. The care, kindness, love, and compassion my pup received as he crossed over the rainbow bridge was exceptional. I am very grateful for our medical team that Saturday night: Dr. Sayeed (vet), and Danielle & Amanda (vet techs). These women are all angels... while Danielle and Amanda were prepping him, they sat on the floor with us, and my sweet old guy received numerous pets, hugs, and kisses. Even in the midst of my uncontrollable tears, Danielle and Amanda had me laughing a few times. They also spoiled my pup with some Hershey's kisses. When the time came, Dr. Sayeed and I sat on the floor with him. He relaxed in my lap on that fluffy blanket. Dr. Sayeed spoke to him so kindly, loved on him, and spoiled him, prior to sedating him. I know my boy drifted off in an atmosphere of warmth, peace and love. I am very grateful. You ladies made a very painful decision a beautiful process. I could never thank you enough. This was my first visit to NorthStar. If I ever experience an emergency with a pup in the future, I know exactly where to go.

I am writing to make you aware of my experience at this facility and with these Veterinarians. Our initial visit to the practice was on 9/6. We met with Dr. Zuendt who presented two options. We could have surgery on our puppy's broken leg, or because of how young he is, we could place a splint on his leg with a good chance of success. At the time we asked him to place odds on it healing with a splint, he told us 70%. We decided to go with the splint and followed Dr. Zuendt's treatment plan, which was to come back weekly to have the split reapplied. We were told further payment would go towards only splint changes but not re evaluation. We came back to the practice on 9/13 and met with Dr. Culbert. This time we were given completely different guidance on the length of time the splint would have to be on along with the success rate. We were taken aback that two vets at the same practice could give us such polar opposite opinions. It was as if the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We not only were charged for the splint change at the time but a re evaluation by this vet. She stated the splint was not placed high enough initially to properly immobilize the bones. We immediately reached out to the office manager, requesting feedback on why we were receiving vastly different opinions. She said she would get back to us and two weeks later, had not done so. Needless to say we no longer had faith in North Star. We decided to get a second opinion elsewhere. We were told the fracture was still unstable and X-Rays showed that the fracture appeared to be worse due to a failure to stabilize the injury. The second opinion told us at onset we could have used an external fixator but at this stage that was no longer a possibility. Again, we were taken aback that neither Vet brought this option up to us. Based on us taking Dr. Zuendt's initial recommendations, the only option was now surgery. If surgery was not performed, our puppy would either experience shortening of the leg and or loss of use. This was very frustrating and concerning for us. How could a reputable Veterinary practice offer us such poor guidance??! Based on our experience and damages caused to our pet, we asked for a full refund for services. We were billed $552.27 for our two visits. After much back and forth email communication, with Joan Fischer the office manager, we were basically told that our puppy's leg was healing and there was no need for surgery. I find this odd since our primary vet and second opinion both stated otherwise. I wish I had avoided going to this office. It caused my dog to be immobile longer. Please go elsewhere or seek a second opinion!

He got me through some REALLY tough times over the past ten years, and honestly I'm not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without him. So knowing his time with me was coming to a close, I left it in his hands to tell me when it was time to go. And, unfortunately, that was the day he woke up and his eyes said simply, "Enough." The staff was attentive and kind from the jump. An examination revealed the options, but it was obvious that whatever was happening was quite serious - and I was given a breakdown of potential next steps. Of course with Sid's age, putting him down was also an option, and I already knew this is what we were going with. I did not receive any pressure to run any preliminary tests, procedures, or additional costs. I was simply told what the options were, and provided with an honest opinion of what the outcomes could be. And all options sucked. BUT it was obvious that the people helping me genuinely cared, and it made the heartbreak just a tiny bit easier. I had never had to do this before and I came in with Sid alone, so the vet guided me through what we were doing, what was next, and gave me ample time in between to say goodbye. Again, no real way to make these things less painful, but there was something in the attention and care I was receiving that made me feel like I wasn't going through it alone. The staff was going through it with me. I also received a beautiful card in the mail from them afterwards, hand-signed with a personal message from each - and this small gesture brought such warmth to my heart that I felt I had to share it. Highly recommend this place.

I spent 3+ hours there but it didn't feel like it. I was able to be by his side the entire time, there was hydration and snacks, and I was comfortable. I feel like every nurse checked in with us at least once. Even my cat felt chill enough after a while to curl up and nap in his large cage (they were quite busy and all rooms were taken). As off Feb '25 it was $200 for just the most basic care, for what it's worth, and in our situation it was very much worth it. They sent everything to my usual vet, including recommended follow up testing. Flippin' awesome and so helpful for moving forward after a terrible Sunday!

We were taken directly into the treatment area, where I was able to stay right beside my fur baby. They checked her vital signs, made sure I knew where the restroom was, and even showed me the complimentary snacks and beverages. We didn't have to wait long before Dr. Russell came over, listened carefully as I explained why we were there, and thoroughly evaluated Stella. He quickly identified what was causing her pain and explained everything clearly. Stella received pain medication by injection, and we were sent home with additional medication to keep her comfortable. When it was time for Stella's injection, my sweet girl became a little grouchy. The team handled her with such patience and compassion, moving us into a private room so they could safely care for her away from the open treatment area. That thoughtful accommodation meant so much to me. We arrived at approximately 5:30 a.m. and were home within one to two hours. The cost was absolutely worth it to know my baby had been properly evaluated, treated, and relieved of her pain. I would definitely return, although I sincerely hope we never need another emergency visit! Thank you, Dr. Russell, Nurse Shannon, and everyone at VEG Northern Liberties ER. My cat, Jasper, was very ill and hospitalized there for 4 days. The emergency room veterinarians and technicians were amazing. One ER doctor called me multiple times over the course of 2 days just to keep me updated on my baby. How amazing! Then Jasper was transferred from emergency medicine to the internal medicine team. This is when we met Dr. DiBenedetto- our hero. I cannot say enough amazing things about this man. He showed true compassion towards me and Jasper, he worked extremely hard to determine what was causing Jaspers illness, spent a great deal of time providing me with all the details of his illness, treated him appropriately, and SAVED HIM! Nine days after discharge, Jasper started to feel unwell again. Luckily we already had a follow up visit scheduled, so off we went to Redbank again. Dr. DiBenedetto promptly determined the diagnosis, explained to me in detail what we could do to help him, and provided me with honest and empathetic options. We decided to treat Jasper at home, as funds were tight after a 4 day hospital stay. Now two weeks after that last visit, Jasper is THRIVING!! He saved him for 2nd time!! Jasper turned 9 on June 6th and I owe it all to Redbank's amazing staff- especially Dr. DiBenedetto, his tech Liz, and the rest of the internal medicine team. The empathy, compassion, thoroughness, respectfulness, and intelligence that Dr. DiBenedetto possesses is truly exceptional. Thank you!!!!
