Hot Spicy - No longer available??? *Sad face*
Jesse W.

The hype is earned. However, the HOT SPICY dog is on the website menu but no longer available, at least the downtown Robson store and the cart is no longer on Burrard St. PLEASE, PLEASE, bring it back! I could take a bath in that spicy relish they used to use. Who's with me?

The Kurobuta terimayo was absolutely delicious. The pork sausage is served hot and fresh and all the toppings that come with it make it so good. Love the seaweed that's on top of it and the mayo was also good. The shake fries have the perfect texture and the seasoning makes it even more prefect.

Walked over here since we were staying in a hotel nearby and heard it was a Canadian classic. They have some indoor seating and also some tables outside. Overall thought it was ok but it seems like it would be a good late night spot since it's open until 3 or 4am Kurobuta terimayo: 3/5 this was ok I think I just don't love sweet hot dogs so might just be a personal preference thing. The bread was nice and toasted though which I liked

Came here late in the evening. Parking wasn't that great ended up getting a ticket, but the food was awesome and well worth it LoL. My family and I we ordered Japanese Style Curry with Rice, Japanese Style Curry with Rice Karaage Chicken and Cheese, Spicy Cheese Terimayo, and Kurobuto Okonomi. Everything was delicious and fresh. The hotdogs had the most perfect snap to it. If you are ever near by do come by and give them a try. The workers all work so hard they take care of the place. They were cleaning up when we got there. There was no line when we were there but the food did come out fast.

We visited Japadog before sports game and wanted to grab hotdog. We hadn't visited here quite a while... So, we wanted to try Vancouver's iconic food again. What we got: Teriyaki Egg mayo dog, Chicken Japamiso burger and shaked fries(shoyu butter). I did not have chicken japamiso burger, I was told it was just ok. My Teriyaki egg mayo dog had tamago sandwich filling(egg and mayo) on the top of sausage. Idea was unique. Bun was dry, and I remember bun had a good balance of sweetness, but, I could not find the flavor this time. Sausage was just ok. Shaked fries was too salty, I could not eat more than a few pieces. I never had such a salty fries before. And it took more than 20 - 25 minutes to serve our food(it was not really busy) and my first choice was out of stock, and I overheard other customers had the same issue for out of stock. I felt it was not really organized. Food was just average except salty fries, I really wish they improve their service and inventory management.

I had an overnight layover in Vancouver, and this is the place I chose to go for my only meal in the city; that's how good it is. I first tried Japadog years ago, and it made a lasting impression for the most unique hot dog offerings. Everything on the menu deserves its own individual shoutout: the drinks, the hot dogs, the poutine, the dessert ice cream, everything is simply worth a visit! Even late at night, there was always someone in line. This time around, I visited a bit late at night, which was a new experience. My only two complaints and reasons for the one star short is that we were left to dine in the cold since the indoor dining closed after 10pm, and many of the fan favorite menu items were completely sold out. I would suggest for the owners to invest in an outdoor heater to keep customers warm in the wintertime if it's not possible to extend dining hours indoors past 10pm. And given the demand for some of the menu items, it might be prudent to maintain supplies to keep up with the demand. I'm sure I'm not the only person who returns hoping to taste something, and it would be disappointing to leave without a chance, especially as we travel from other countries. Overall, Japadog is just as great as I remembered. Although I didn't get a chance to order the items I wanted, I had fun exploring new menu varieties. Definitely looking forward to next time....

For 3am, this hotdog tasted great. Was worried that it was just hype, but definitely tasted great. The workers were nice, and took less than 10 minutes for our order.

Overall: B // 4 stars Extremely interesting offering of fast food that is much better in every aspect compared to America. Would definitely be happy to have this as an option at the airport. (Yakisoba Dog: A) - Intriguing Japanese take on a hot dog that beautifully blends western and eastern street food together. (Pink Lemonade: C) - Very mid lemonade with not much to say; a bit highly priced for the slightly artifical nature of the drink. Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: E Menu: +1 Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Stopped for a snack while on the way to a Stanley park from the Capilano park. Heard this was unique to Vancouver and they have multiple locations, so figured we'd try it out. We split number 13 and my son had a number 7, which we all enjoyed. We also had the shaken fries, a match milkshake, and a yuzu coconut lemonade(my favorite. Certainly not fine dining, but I gotta give them 5 stars for creativity alone.

It's been 9 years since my last visit, and maybe my taste buds have matured or the quality has changed but it's not as good as I remembered! Got the spicy cheese terimayo dog. The dog was skinny with pieces of cheese inside and with an American level spicy. The caramelized onions, seaweed and BBQ sauce make it quite sweet. The bun felt stale; wasn't toasted or warm. The age ice cream was okay. Crispy and sweet but not fresh either. They also ran out of matcha and black sesame ice cream on a weekday evening :(

Kurabuta Terimayo - Kurabuta pork sausage, teriyaki sauce, kewpie mayo, fried onions and seaweed. It was very good!

I came here at 230am today and this lady helped me make 3 orders of hotdog and each one was amazing. First one was the chicken cheese kastu dog, next is chicken karage dog with saffron, and the wagyu dog. Brought it back to the hotel Azur hotel to share with my wife and think it is decent and enjoyed the wagyu dog with mayo and seaweed topping.

5/5! Finally tried this place after countless recommendations from friends. I'm not from Vancouver so I was super excited to try this. It definitely lived up to the hype! I tried the signature kurobuta terimayo hotdog and it was perfect. The meat in the hotdog has the perfect bite to it and all the toppings just worked perfectly together. They have so many other variations of the hotdogs.. there is something for everyone! I would definitely come back next time I'm in the city to try the other varieties. They also have shake fries, poutine, desserts, and drinks too!

First time at this Japanese restaurant, and it was really great!…read more Signature Japanese Fried Pork Cutlet Rosu Katsu $27 This time I was smarter and ordered the cut with a good balance of fat and lean meat. The moment I bit into it, it was bursting with juice! The meat was incredibly thick but not dry at all, and the outer skin was crispy like snowflakes. The first bite was amazing; I've never had such a delicious pork cutlet in Shanghai. Curry Pork Cutlet Rosu Curry $29.5 My friend ordered the curry pork cutlet today, and it was surprisingly excellent! The curry flavor was incredibly rich and full-bodied. Wrapped in the crispy pork cutlet and eaten with rice, it was pure carb bliss! Freshly Ground Sesame Powder I have to praise their freshly ground sesame powder; the aroma of the sesame seeds you grinded yourself was a real highlight. * With lemon salt: Refreshing and original, a perfect way to cut through the richness! * With barbecue sauce: Mixed with sesame powder, the flavors develop layer by layer. With two flavors to choose from, it's really hard to stop! I'll definitely come back to try it again next time.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

Service was really amazing with servers explaining each dish and drinks were always topped off…read more Food was good, but maybe this isn't quite my style of omakase compared to the other ones I've tried. This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.

Said friends lived in Japan…read morefor over a decade and they've dined here often in the past, saying it's very "authentic" Izakaya and it reminds them of their past life in Japan (which they miss a lot). Me, I know nothing about Izakaya or what is or isn't authentic Japanese cuisine, so this review is coming from someone with zero knowledge or expectation of any specific foods or experiences. Despite it being a weeknight, the place was packed. It was good that we had a reservation. There was a couple in line before me and they were walk-ins, and there were no available seats for them. I noted how small this place was, and crowded, with the tables close together and a long bar with a counter and barstools there (also close together). Our reserved table was right by the front door - literally, - so every time the door opened, we got a gust of cold air (and it was a cold February night when we were there). I kept my coat on. Truth be known, I was not very comfortable. Also, it was loud. Very loud. I like how the staff shout Japanese greetings to diners whenever they enter but between the frequent shouts and the sheer volume of chatter from all the diners, all sitting close together in close proximity, it was kinda hard to hear what my friends were saying during our dinner. That said, the environment was super vibrant and, again, my friends said this was very typical of an Izakaya in Japan. Food-wise, I have no idea what my friends ordered. The menu was primarily available by way of a QR code and I had no idea what the dishes were, so I deferred to my friends' knowledge. But I can attest that all the dishes were DELICIOUS. We had some sort of Japanese street food "pancakes" (they were wonderful). We had some sort of stirfry beef with noodles (amazing). We had two types of sashimi (omg both were so fresh and so so good!). We had a few other dishes that I can't recall, but I remember I loved them. So.... the food here was GREAT. Service was also attentive which I hadn't expected, being as busy as the restaurant was. I really liked this place but I'll probably go back in the summertime when the weather is nicer as I was cold there, and I'd dine at an off-time, when the volume wasn't so loud. (I'm too old for the loudness!).
