Stopped by Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba and left seriously impressed. I had the original mazesoba and also tried the low-calorie version--both were packed with flavor and super satisfying. The original was rich, savory, and perfectly balanced with the minced meat, egg yolk, garlic, and house-made noodles. Every bite had that umami bomb effect. The low-calorie soba was lighter but still delicious, with a cleaner broth and firmer noodles that didn't feel like a compromise at all. Service was quick and efficient, and the space had a clean, modern feel without feeling cramped. Definitely a new go-to when I'm craving noodles in Vancouver.

This place is located in downtown Vancouver. Only street parking is available, which can be a headache during peak dinner times. Their items are reasonably priced in relation to their portion sizes. I found the ramen to be rich and tasty. However, the curry is a bit bland. The chicken karaage was over-fried, resulting in the chicken meat being too dry and tough. Service is a bit lacking for a sit-down restaurant. Everything is done via a tablet on the table. The servers only come around if they are summoned from the app on the tablet.

The mazesoba was a decent portion and good marinade on the chicken. The sauce was not as creamy as I was expecting, having ordered the mentaiko cream bowl, and barely covered the noodles. The lemon sour also tasted off.

Visiting Vancouver has so many sights to see and explore, not just the city 's breathtaking views and landmark but also the diversity when it comes to food selections. The typical gloomy and wet weather invites me to crave for a hot and savoury soup, the ramen places is so many and you would want to try all of them. Chose this place as it is close to our hotel. The Schezuan Mala Ramen is so rich and savoury with spice kick to it. Served with thin noodle and pork chashu, bamboo shoots, chopped cilantro and green onions makes this dish so comforting and to think this is new to the menu. We also had the pork tonkatsu rice dish, the pork is perfectly fried with the right crisp from the breadings the curry sauce with minced meat paired perfectly to dip your pork. I like that there's some pickled julienned ginger and chopped green onion on the side to clean your palate. Clean, spacious interior. The front has dedicated area for customers waited to be seated. Open kitchen at the right side of the place. I didn't have the need to use the washroom but saw that the place have it. Very friendly and polite staff. Service is fast and efficient. Definitely try this place if you're in Vancity.

Happy hour 2-9pm weekdays for members. There is a different special everyday. We went on a Tuesday and the special was free 3 pc gyoza. I prefer their chicken karage and ramen more than their mazesoba which I find quite salty. They give unlimited free rice with it though the rice isn't very taste.

I came on a Saturday night and did not have to wait! We were immediately seated and ordered dishes off the tablet on the table. We got the deluxe, mentaiko cream, and 2 drinks (lemon & peach sour) The deluxe was super yummy! I really liked the oil and egg yolk from the dish. The mentaiko cream was disappointing to me. I thought it'd be a bit creamier and I felt like the flavor was slightly lacking. If you're not into the fishy taste, I'd recommend removing the fish powder from both dishes (we forgot to)! Both drinks were pretty tasty and were take home-able since they're in togo cups. I'd come back for the deluxe and to try the ramen -- the marinated eggs were super good!

Came here in the afternoon for a work lunch! They were pretty busy around 12pm, which was very understandable. My group of 7 people only waited about 10 mins for a table which was great! They have new tablets set up at every table, so that you can order yourself and also "call" servers over with a button. Pretty nice upgrade. I also noticed that the menu changed since the last time I'd been. I got the salmon mazesoba (I recall previously it had been salmon AND avocado) and it hit the spot for me. Stirring up all the yummy stuff together made for a nice and tasty noodle dish. My favourite was the bamboo pieces. Not pictured, I also got the matcha latte (which was iced, and I thought it was going to be hot) and pan fried pork gyoza. Delicious!

I stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting Vancouver for the first time, and what a find! This place is going on my must-eat list for all future visits. I absolutely love mazesoba and order it whenever it's on the menu, and I must say this is one of the best renditions I've had. I believe I ordered a regular size and was stuffed by the end, but the menu claims you can upgrade to a larger size for no added fees which is very generous. The service was top notch and I have nothing but kind things to say. Our server checked on us an appropriate number of times and was so friendly. The restaurant itself was clean and aesthetic, although the walk over was not so. There was no line when my party of 2 arrived for an early dinner, but there were other diners. The interior is spacious enough to host a larger group. I can't wait to visit Vancouver again just to have their food.

Came here for the first time at 8 pm on a Monday and place was semi busy. We waited less than 10 minutes for a table. I love Mentaiko so I ordered that. Importantly there are free upsizes and the portion is huge if you choose the upsize. Enough to share between 2 people. Do note that there is a 13$ spend minimum per person so you will need order an app to reach the minimum balance. On to the dish itself, was packed full of the green onions and other toppings. (You can remove the toppings as needed if you don't like them). The noodles were perfectly soft and chewy. I was expecting more Mentaiko taste however there was next to none and tasted more peanuty. Additionally, when you're done your noodles you can have rice for free to eat with the remaining sauce. Rating 4/5 The spicy karaage: tasted more like sweet and sour chicken. Not very spicy. More batter than meat. There were 10 pieces so a good amount. Rating: 4/5

Ordered a classic mazesoba and while it took a bit of time to come out, the fact you can get a free mini rice bowl at the end is the cherry on top

Looking for a spot to eat on the start of my trip and this looked like a great option. Felt very much like a Japan experience through digital ordering and electronic features. We got a couple items to share, and food hack you can make the bowl size XL with no extra cost and get free rice. Tonkastu was great and noodles were enjoyable- the shrimp was a bit of an un glorified honey walnut shrimp but the service was excellent and staff very kind.

I always love non-soupy noddle. This one is perfect for me. Located on Seymour st, Vancouver bc. 1-2 block from cf pacific center. They also have other locations in Vancouver and Richmond. Parking: pay street parking or cf center parking. Restroom: women and men restrooms available. The interior of the restaurant is kinda old, run down. Wish they upgrade it more modern look at least. We got there around 12:30pm on Sunday. I thought it's going to be a long line. It's not. So perfect, we were hungry. There's a tablet on the wall that you can order with. So we ordered: Deluxe mazesoba Mentaiko creamy mazesoba - upgraded to low carb soba for #1.99 regular size only Katsu curry mazesoba Shio mazesoba. All the favour are different from each other, I like them all. You can do regular or xl size upgrade at no charge. Plus at the end you can ask for rice for free to mix with the leftover sauce at the end. That's really good actually. It's not a lot of rice, Probably just a 1 big spoonful of rice. You can request this via the tablet too. If you can't finish, you can box to go. They don't accept Amex.

We were staying in downtown Vancouver and wanted some ramen, this was close to our hotel. Clean and nicely decorated restaurant. Service was friendly. Food was solid and pricing was fair. Ramen broth was rich but not salty. I liked that you could get more ramen noodles to add to any extra broth you might have. A satisfying meal.

If you want to order the Hokkaido Ice Cream order it at 8pm, 2 hours before closing otherwise it's sold out.

Maybe it's an American thing to linger and enjoy a dining experience. To stay longer than needed to…read moresoak up the ambiance and give a good moment some extra time for memories. But in other parts of the world the meal is what's important and so is a quick turn around. Guu with Garlic reminded me a lot of the Izakaya restaurants I found under the train lines of Tokyo in many ways, including the amount of time it felt right to stay. The food came out quick, the servers took orders quicker, and the alcohol came out chilled and as nice contrast to the hot food. Looking around and you see the hand written menu on blackboard surfaces on the walls and this feeling of authenticity. The heat of the flames from the kitchen can be felt and seen if you sit at the bar. And the flavors just hit all the right notes. Starting with appetizers, a section izakayas shine at, the first dish we got was their scallop and mayo pizza. With a crispy crunch on the bottom and crust, this reminds you of the flavors of a baked volcano roll or scallop roll you can find in almost any North American sushi restaurant. Just like that dish, it's important to eat it while it's still hot so it doesn't get gross and 느끼 에. Then came the yellowtail tuna "tempura" pieces. Thick pieces of yellowtail tuna flash fried for just the right crisp on the outside with slight pink of the fish inside. It is meaty without being oily or fatty. Great bite. The beef tongue after was interesting. From the color of the sauce it accompanies it you would think it would be heavy in flavor but it is actually light and citrusy. A good cut into the richer tones of the beef tongue. The yaki udon was one of the best I ever had. It was smokey without being overpowering. The beef was thin and tender and balanced well with the mushrooms it also came with. The udon noodles stayed bouncy and chewy which I didn't expect from being grilled. Very tasty and highly recommend this dish. For our final bite we shared a hot stone bowl of their pork and cabbage rice. With the hot stone bowl constantly cooking even after this dish arrived it was imperative to stir the ingredients together constantly for the first two minutes. It allowed for the runny egg to meld with the rice and the crispy texture of some ingredients was a nice bonus. All in all, I loved eating here and if my appetite was bigger I would've tried more on their menu. A solid place to eat with a great atmosphere, if you're looking for delicious food that won't take too much of your time but still lingers in your memories you have to check out Guu with Garlic.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. People who haven't been to an izakaya may think it's loud and noisy, but the point of izakayas is they're supposed to be vibrant, high energy, and filled with cheerful chatter. Think of a tapas-style pub/bar for people to unwind and gather to chat after a long day at work. I loved the atmosphere, as it's casual, entertaining, and lively. The food was great and I couldn't think of a dish I didn't like. The sashimi were so fresh and high quality. Of course they use freshly grated wasabi too. Me, I know nothing about Izakaya or what is or isn't authentic Japanese cuisine, so this review is coming from someone with zero knowledge or expectation of any specific foods or experiences. Despite it being a weeknight, the place was packed. It was good that we had a reservation. There was a couple in line before me and they were walk-ins, and there were no available seats for them. I noted how small this place was, and crowded, with the tables close together and a long bar with a counter and barstools there (also close together). Our reserved table was right by the front door - literally, - so every time the door opened, we got a gust of cold air (and it was a cold February night when we were there). I kept my coat on. Truth be known, I was not very comfortable. Also, it was loud. Very loud. I like how the staff shout Japanese greetings to diners whenever they enter but between the frequent shouts and the sheer volume of chatter from all the diners, all sitting close together in close proximity, it was kinda hard to hear what my friends were saying during our dinner. That said, the environment was super vibrant and, again, my friends said this was very typical of an Izakaya in Japan. Food-wise, I have no idea what my friends ordered. The menu was primarily available by way of a QR code and I had no idea what the dishes were, so I deferred to my friends' knowledge. But I can attest that all the dishes were DELICIOUS. We had some sort of Japanese street food "pancakes" (they were wonderful). We had some sort of stirfry beef with noodles (amazing). We had two types of sashimi (omg both were so fresh and so so good!). We had a few other dishes that I can't recall, but I remember I loved them. So.... the food here was GREAT. Service was also attentive which I hadn't expected, being as busy as the restaurant was. I really liked this place but I'll probably go back in the summertime when the weather is nicer as I was cold there, and I'd dine at an off-time, when the volume wasn't so loud. (I'm too old for the loudness!).
