TERRIBLE PLACE !!! Do NOT trust this shop or its ratings. My catalytic converter was stolen while my car was inside Japanese Auto Care and under their custody. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff and owner did nothing; no investigation, no CCTV review, no explanation. Their only response was to blame me and demand payment simply because I am the vehicle owner. I was forced to pay $900 to repair the stolen catalytic converter just to get my car back. Completely irresponsible and dismissive management. If anything goes wrong with your car here, expect zero accountability. Stay away. read more

I came in for my appointment because my maintenance request light turned on during my recent road trip. I was surprised cause I had checked everything in the car beforehand. I was in a hurry that morning, so Jae got right on it. I even had a nice chat with another customer while waiting. Forty minutes later, Jae told me there was nothing wrong with my old RAV4. Used to come here all the time and had great experiences and the price was always fair and they did great work. Made an appointment 2 weeks out for routine maintenance and oil change for my new car. Was told to drop off by 10am, figured 1-2 hours for tire rotation and oil change for 25k service. Waited 2.5 hours and they still hadn't even started the work on my car. Man I really wanted to trust the reviews on here. Came to Jae and his crew twice now, first one for an oil change, and this time for our window motor and to work on our brakes. Jae told me the price of the window motor would be about $300 for a generic brand, and $150 for installation. Though I could get the part for half the price, my apartment doesn't let me work on our cars in the parking lot, so I agreed to the $450 service. I also asked Jae to check out the brake pads and flush the lines if it needed new brake fluid, and provided him new pads in case he determined that it would need replacing. I said I trust him, so change it if he sees fit. Jae called me later saying that he couldn't find the lug key, so I said I'd drop it off after work. I arrive after work, and apparently he and his crew had already decided to just brute forced through the keyed lug just to replace the brake pads. I was not notified that it was decided to break the keyed lugs, and now all four tires have no keyed lugs. I really wish Jae would have reached out to me about breaking through the keyed lug nuts because on top of destroyed my keyed lugs, he charged $200 for labor of replacing the brake pads when it's normally a 30 min job AND I GAVE HIM THE PARTS. I would have otherwise told him to wait on replacing the brake pads if he just notified me that his crew would break the keyed lugs. Other local shops charge brake pad replacements for as low as $100 for PARTS AND LABOR, but I was trying to give him work because of the raving reviews on here. This place is the best kept secret hole in the wall mechanic shop I've haven't seen in a long time. My story starts like this, Honda told me I needed a tune up on my Honda S2000 and quoted me about 1,299 before tax for basically spark plugs liquids topped off and a quick lube/oil change. Basically little fillers to make you feel better about spending an arm and a leg. So I sourced out spark plugs and other little things I needed for a "tune up" and called up this shop after I kept seeing it while driving by here and there, then I saw online this shop had so many 5 star reviews so I called in and they scheduled me in the next morning and asked me what I needed done and I told him spark plugs, valve adjustment and clutch fluid flush. He didn't hesitate and got me in the next day! They worked their magic and my car feels brand new! Great work and finished within the promised time. For soooo much cheaper then what Honda wanted. I highly recommend if you need any mechanical work done. Also the owner has a few cats around which is a plus! read more

I came in here to get my headlights done after the dealership told me it would cost $900. They told me I needed special bulbs that they didn't carry, but then (and this is why 5 star review) they SHOWED ME HOW to replace the bulb and charged me nothing for their time. Could I have looked it up on YouTube? Probably. But they walked me through on my own vehicle and were incredible nice about it. They went above and beyond and didn't charge me a penny. I had to drive that evening, so I really needed help. Employee named Paul told me that the next available appointment was more than a week out. I pleaded for him to simply test the wires, as I figured it may be a relatively small problem that they could fix in few minutes and I really needed help. He outright refused, citing that they are closing in an hour. I couldn't believe it. Desperate, I drove to Lynnwood Honda and one of their service representatives was kind enough to test this for me, and take care of what turned out to be a very minor issue on the spot. Got my front/rear rotors and ceramic brake pads done in less than 2 hours, as they kept their word on that. They told me what they noticed and gave me a heads up on these new parts and take it easy at first when braking. I always appreciate honesty from mechanics. Don't expect a fancy 5-star building for you to wait around. There's plenty of stores nearby that's walking distance to hang out until they're done. They charge reasonable prices too, maybe $100/hr or so. If they get it done earlier than the time quoted, they won't charge the full amount! Cool eh? I also had my throttle replaced as well, and took them only 30 mins to replace and install a new one. Because they are kind of fast with their service, I plan to be here again. I trust this place more than the local Acura dealership. As for parts, a consumer can always order aftermarket parts for their Japanese car for the most part, so bringing them there for replacement is easy. I try to do things on my own, but sometimes a guy doesn't have all the tools. read more

Wish I had a better experience as it's right where I want it to be, location-wise... I've been here a few times. Had a decent experience and no up-selling extras. Last time I brought it in, it was running rough. Was quoted a problem and price. OK'd it. Came in to pick it up and the cost was higher due to items that apparently broke along the repairway. No prob, so long as it was fixed, huh? Well, I took it home and it was now idling terribly when I started it, which wasn't a symptom to begin with. "No prob!", said the shop. I brought it in for a quick adjustment after work. Didn't work. Brought it back in the next day. They said they had ajn idea this might have been the deal and to leave it overnight again, one more day and they'd fix it no add'l charges. Okay, I figured it would be worth it this time, right? They didn't call the next evening, so after work, I came at closing time and the car wasn't ready. The guy I usually talk to said it wasn't ready and since he was doing it for free this time, he was waiting on a free used part and he promised he'd call me the next day when it was ready. Well, the call came the next afternoon that my car was ready. I arrived and apparently it wasn't ready as the hood was open and there were tools still in the engine bay. The mechanic showed the part he'd replaced and continued working, though he'd called to say it was ready over an hour before. I took the car home when he finished, excited it was all over. It had been tough, since I had to figure out getting to work those days without my car, but it was all worth it, huh? No dice. Car still had terrible idling problems. I couldn't afford to keep leaving my car in their shop while they kept playing with it and I had to keep figuring out transportation to work, so I gave up. Def friendly and I loved the no up-selling, but if the car isn't fixed, it doesn't end up helping. read more

It was my first time using Japanese Auto Care and I am very pleased with the service I received. The fact that their parking lot was overflowing with vehicles was actually a good sign. A busy repair shop is usually a good repair shop. I first had the car checked at another shop down the road and the price they quoted me was nearly twice what I ended up paying here. Japanese Auto Care also works fast and was done with the repair in the amount of time the other shop took just to look at it and give me an estimate. Oh, and they finished the car on a Saturday when most shops are closed. Same quality parts, faster turnaround and therefore lower labor costs, fair and honest pricing--what more can you ask for? This is what went down: I had called around and spoke with a guy named "Mike" at "Gregs Japanese Auto", who told me "there isn't a single mechanic in the state of WA who will install a part for your car. You need to bring it here and we will have to order it for you, blah, blah, blah" ....yeah, whatever...LIES! I came across Japanese Auto Care Inc, spoke to Jae and guess what? He installed the part for me. Since then I have been taking my car to his shop for oil changes, brakes, and everything else that needs to be repaired or looked at. Took my truck here again, TWICE, and both times Jae and his guys ROCKED it! :) Visit #2 was an alternator, which they MADE using parts form other alternators! (It's hard to find parts for my truck.) and it was very inexpensive. Visit #3 was brakes, since they were totally gone. Got new front shoes, wheel cylinders, and a new master cylinder. They are up front about cost, do solid work and never push unnecessary service/parts on you. He will however, let you know if he sees any potential upcoming issues. I started coming to Mr. Ghim's shop since 1997, and I have always been satisfied with his work. About a year ago, Mr. Ghim fixed my mother's 30 year old Toyota. This car was parked in my mother's house for over a year, and she was planning to take it to junk yard. When I decided to have it repaired, I thought it will be good for my son to drive around for few months until we can figure out what we need to do about his transportation needs. I have been taking my cars to these guys for the better part of ten years now. They do really good work, are super fast and I totally trust them. They have ended up charging me less than they originally quoted me multiple times and they have even done minor repairs for no additional charge while fixing something else. I trust them 100% and that is rare in auto mechanics! I do prefer the quick lube places when it comes time to change the oil because these guys don't top off fluids, vacuum the upholstery or clean my windows. There isn't a dealer I've taken my cars to that I would give more than 2-3 stars, but I highly recommend this place, especially to women who feel like they get taken advantage of at auto repair shops. My family has taken some very old barely running 4 Runners to medium age Acuras to a brand new Lexus, and get honest estimates, fast service for years. We've never had a complaint. The prices are very reasonable. Unless my issue is covered under warranty and has to be done through a dealer, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have a late 90's Honda that had radiator trouble. The owner answered my telephone call and gave me a fair price over the phone. When I came in he stuck to that price. they repaired it in one day and returned it to me with a lifetime warranty. Luckily these guys stand by their warranty. The radiator started leaking the next day. I brought it back and he tightened the clamps on the hoses. But it continued to leak just not as bad as the first day. I brought it back the second day and the owner said it may be fluid that pooled on the engine an dripped. He still tightened the hoses. The fourth day it was still leaking. This time he said he would replace the hose and clamp where he thought it could be leaking. He also replaced the radiator with a new one. 6 months later it works perfectly without a single leak.
