One of the best decisions we made was to get a purebred Labrador retriever for our family pet. After researching the different breeds of dogs and what is best for a family with young children, we identified the Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever as the best options based on their temperament. In order to guarantee we would get those characters in our family pet, we exclusively looked into purebreds and found more options for labs, so that is where we focused our search. After looking not several breeders and reviewing their sites and information, it became clear that Japatul Labs was where we wanted to get our puppy. There website is very clear and provides prospective buyers with plenty of information about their dogs and their breeding program. Additionally, you can call or email to get more details (as we did); and Bonnie is very helpful and responsive. She truly wants a good home for her puppies. As you can see from the other posts, more times than not, social media platforms are used as an outlet for negative criticism and feedback, instead of trying to work through the issues with the source. Japatul Labs is an excellent, well-maintained facility and Bonnie and her family have nothing but love for their labs and their puppies. I know it is a business, but they run it the right way and in the best interest of the dogs. Unfortunately, as with any business, not all customers are the same. We have even used Japatul Labs to board our puppy when we had to go out of town for a week. We did this because we wanted the best for our family pet and wanted to know she would not be ignored or mistreated while we were gone. We have not pulled the trigger on getting another puppy just yet, because we want to be sure we can commit to another beautiful puppy from Japatul Labs; however, we are constantly following the new litters and postings from shows and competitions. As with any sizeable purchase you should do your research and once you do, I'm sure you will find that Japatul Labs is a reputable place to get your new puppy. We are so blessed to have found them and as a result were able to welcome a new addition (yellow lab) to the family over a year and a half ago! I am hopeful that other happy lab owners that have benefited from adding a Japatul lab to their family will also post a review here to paint a more accurate picture of what this business is all about. read more

I don't like that Yelp did not recommend my review so I will repost it. Not fair to business when the good reviews removed. We came out on September 20 to check out this kennel to hopefully add a new fur friend to our house hold. This place is amazing. I have visited a lot of other breeders lately in search of the right pup and I felt they were all disgusting. Not this place. What an amazing ranch Bonnie Hansen has. So beautiful and peaceful. Her dogs have a HUGE area to play and romp around. These dogs are so lucky to have the country life they do. They were all so well trained to stay in their area and so eager to say hello when we went out into the pasture to meet them. They were all bright eyed, healthy and beautiful shiny thick coats. Then we went over to her kennel facility. Huge kennels! The other places we check out were more like cages yet those breeders called them kennels. Bonnie's place is so clean and orderly and had no bad odor. We were asked to disinfect our feet before we walked around to say hello to the dogs who were in at the time. Again, all very friendly dogs so happy to greet us and say hello. Then we saw her two little black puppies she has now. OMG they are so precious. I would have bought one right then and there but unfortunately they were spoken for already. These little girls were so friendly and loving. I sat in their room as they crawled up on my lap to cuddle. They have such a nice little area. They are also already potty trained to a litter area. They have a little ramp to go on so they can go outside to another nice area with toys hanging down for them to play with. What a cool setup for puppies. Also has air conditioning for those hot days or heat for the cold ones. I stand firm that Bonnie Hansen and Japatul Labradors is a top notch, small breeding who really loves her dogs and it shows. Bonnie breeds the happiest, healthiest Labrador pups ever. We visited her beautiful facility before getting our wonderful yellow lab Kimo and were blown away by all aspects of Bonnie's breeding establishment. It is beautiful (rolling green lawns and play areas) and the kennel areas are immaculate. The adult dogs are friendly and well behaved and the puppies.... We've never seen so much energy and joyfulness concentrated in one spot. Bonnie herself is incredible. She is devoted to her dogs (and horses) and lavishes attention on them. Their health and well-being are clearly her top priority. In addition she runs a very professional business and keeps her clients well informed about upcoming litters. There is a wait list. There is a high demand for these quality pups, and they aren't mass produced on a production line. We noticed a reviewer complaining about the $50 nonrefundable sign up charge. This covers all the communications and paperwork prior to being placed on a wait list. Of course there has to be a screening process to make sure the potential owners will be good dog parents. There is a contract signed at the start, acknowledging that this fee is nonrefundable. You don't get your $50 back just because you get tired of waiting. And Japatul's Labradors are definitely worth the wait. read more

Businesses that deal with both people and animals as customers can be challenging. I did an internet search and discovered these two posts. Any negative comments concern us as we work so hard to produce high quality Labradors and try to make their new owners also happy. I was so fortunate to have found Bonnie at Japatul Laboradors. Our pup is amazing. He's 1.5 years old and has a fantastic temperment: sweet, affectionate, calm and smart. Japatul Labradors is a quality place to purchase a Labrador. We bought a yellow male puppy and he is a delight! He is healthy, beautiful, and his temperament is calm, happy, and smart. Bonnie, the breeder makes certain her puppies are conditioned to different sounds and surfaces before they go to their new homes and this has paid off during the transition to our home. I am a life long Labrador owner and a former volunteer dog training assistant at the Marin Humane Society, and am a professional dog walker in my retirement. We purchased our first chocolate lab from the a little over a year ago. She Charlee within being 4 months old was the best hunting dog and man best friend anyone could ask for, so to much to my surprise, my husband who is a one dog at a time person, unless the dog is getting older and its time for the dog to do her training of a new puppy, said we should get another one. I called Bonnie up and she just happen to have another chocolate female and was ready to go, she way 7 weeks old. I told her we would be there the next day. So Lucy is the water dog of all times, no scuba tank needed for her and a snuggler she is. We will never go to another place for when its time for another lab. On the way to pick up my puppy I was told I owed her $60 for tax. when I got there I almost experienced a bait and switch with the puppies. The pups were color coded and the one I had picked did not have the same color. Luckily I had pictures from a previous visit to compare pups (the one I picked also had a long scab on the underside of her ear). I was adamant about taking the puppy I had originally chosen. After that exchange I was treated differently (cold, and ignored in later emails). I paid $1060 for my dog, I was supposed to get a copy of her pedigree and never did. I love my dog and had I felt more like a customer, and treated with more respect and friendliness, I would have bought more dogs. I do not feel comfortable going back there. read more

My husband Keith and I adopted our chocolate lab puppy Piper from you when she was 6 weeks old (though we were lucky enough to meet her when she was just a few days old; her Mom was Bailey.) She's now almost 9 years old, and we're convinced she's the best, most wonderful dog in the Universe....and the most ageless (people who meet her ask if she's 1 or 2 years old!) Some friends of ours adopted their chocolate labby Kahlua a year after we got Piper. The dogs are half-sisters (through Bailey), and, side-by-side, it can be tough to tell them apart! We got our puppy from Japatul Labradors in November 2020 and we couldn't be happier with him. He is the smartest, most well behaved (most of the time ) dog we have ever had.
