I've been to ALOT of vets throughout this time, and not easily impressed; yet I am VERY impressed with this one! Dr. Marta Kreps is compassionate, honest, highly skilled, and truly available to her clients and their humans. She takes the time necessary to fully answer questions and to explain all available options without rushing, and Dr. as well as all of her staff show a "SINCERE" care, concern, and affection for animals. This review wouldn't be complete without the following true cat tales: I brought my cat "Magic" to Dr. Marta Kreps who saved her life while everyone else just said put her down. Magic is now healthy, pain free, medication free, and ornery to date. After a recent checkup, I was at the front desk. My friend took Magic to the car. Shortly thereafter, he ran back in yelling that the door was not fully closed on the carrier and that Magic had escaped. I ran out in a panic, especially given that this is an extremely busy street! To my amazement, the entire clinic staff was close behind me with vet techs running in different directions, across the street, down alleys, etc. and I'm trying to slow traffic when I see Dr. Kreps also out there herself crouching down and checking underneath cars! What entire staff and Dr. leaves their office to hunt down an escaped cat? What rare GEMS! Magic was found on the floorboard of my car after about half an hour-no doubt wondering what all the commotion was about And yes, the car was checked already.... When I called walker street, they listened to my concerns and helped get me in on very short notice. The staff are awesome, clinic is clean and the prices are very reasonable even for a same day prompt care visit for a dog that had not been there before. The best vet we've experienced in a long time. They were able to squeeze us in for a morning appointment for wellness check on a stray cat we found. We had just lost our cat a few days earlier. The staff was warm and friendly. The best part was the owners were allowed to be with their pets when being examined. Several more modernized vet clinics take your pet and exam them in the back without you present. We can't appreciate Walker Clinic enough for being old fashioned including their filing system. Unfortunately for us, our little stray tested positive for feline leukemia and had to be put down. We were there with her from beginning to end. It was difficult but gave us closure we needed. Finally, to our surprise, Walker Street sent us a signed card from the whole staff sending condolences. Truly an amazing vet office and I would recommend to anyone. Walker Street Vet was a bright light on the darkest day of our lives when it came time to put our 15 year old dog down due to cancer and mobility loss. We live in Chico and everything happened so fast, that trying to find anyone to give her a peaceful send off on a Friday afternoon felt impossible. But it was time. We never wanted her to suffer. After several calls around town, we called Walker and they were able to fit us in at 4:30pm even having never been there before. When we arrived, it seemed like we were the last appointment of the day as we were the only ones there, and they had everything waiting for her and treated her like the best girl that she always was with lots of love. They were super patient with us and even though it was the end of their work day, they gave us all the time we needed before and after the procedure. There were no surprises and everything went as smoothly as it could. We chose to have her cremated and received her remains about two and a half weeks later in a nice box that was engraved. Fast forward to today to it being my birthday and I checked the PO Box for the first time in a couple weeks and there was a card with beautiful notes from everyone at Walker. I balled my eyes out. My 85 lb, 11 year-old, rescued German Shepherd had some pain, and I decided to make the trek out to Orland to try Dr. Dana out. I had 3 people tell me over the years that Walker St Vet Clinic was good, and not as expensive as the Chico ones. When I called, Molly, the receptionist, was really helpful and encouraging so I brought my dog Jazzy in. Dr. Dana was amazing. He is such a warm and gentle man and explained everything to me. My dog even liked him. He was non-judgmental, was kind, and understanding that I didn't have an big budget. All of the staff was great and I felt very comfortable there. I have had bad luck with Chico Vets - except for the Cat place, they were good. But the rest seemed more interested in making money than caring for my pets. I know that it is a business, but going to Dr. Dana made me realize that I can have a great vet that really cares. I will be making the drive to Orland with all of our dogs from now on. read more

We found Dr. Dana one Saturday night after two of our four dogs decided to have a grudge match. He was just great with our neurotic 3-legged dogs who hates men, strangers, and the vet. She still doesn't love going there, but I can at least get her through the door without having to drag/carry her. The staff is friendly and always remembers us. Walker Street has gone from a decent veterinary hospital, with reasonable fees, to a DUMP. Their people - from front staff to doctors - are not only rude, but they charge for extra procedures you didn't approve and threaten to keep your animal until you pay. I dropped my kitten off to be spayed, and the girl at the front desk didn't speak enough English to have a rudimentary conversation. I asked if there was some paperwork I should fill out and she said "no". I asked how much the spay and shots would cost and it took 20 minutes for her to come back and tell me she didn't know. The girl in the back yelled "$69.00 for the spay", and I asked if that was ALL INCLUSIVE? EVERYTHING? ALL THE TESTS? And she said "yes". Later, I find out my stray kitten was pregnant and they never contacted me to let me know, and laughed about it when I got upset. They also charged an extra $15.00 for her abortion and when I told them this wasn't the deal, they said "well you have to pay it or you can't have your cat", and on top of that, added a snippy remark "let's see if you can even pay this". Doctor Dana called my daughter a 'dope' twice and Sue, Molly & the rest of the gang joined in on snide remarks and finger gestures. None of them are professional and they clearly care more about money than your pet. I'm actually SHOCKED they are still in business. Horrible, horrible people. read more

Dr Dana is great. You can tell he really cares about the animals and he knows what he's doing. We have brought our dogs here on many occasions and they are always treated very well and the problem always get treated properly and is resolved. They have very fair prices too. My boxer had taken pills from my friend's car because she was supposed to be watching him. When I came and got him I realized something was off so I took him the 24-hour clinic because it was so late and Doctor Dana wasn't open. The clinic did a bunch of tests and things but said he would die then had me pay over 200 dollars after they didn't even help him so then. I would not take that as an answer, so I called Dr.Dana hoping there would be a slight chance he may help and he did. He stayed overnight with my dog making sure he was okay. PET OWNERS BEWARE . I brought three cats all on the same day to be spayed and nuetered. I got help with the costs from Sharon Novac in Corning. Two days after bringing them home all three cats have respiratory infections and as of today eight days after surgery those three cats have infected my others. One of my cats was so medicated he tried to eat late that night and his head would drop into the bowl he was unable to walk also. I was not given any instructions for follow up care at home. This facility is not sanitary nor organized and under staffed not safe if you love your pets. read more

I took my cat in today to get neutered. Last Friday I went in thinking that was the day of my appointment but it was the day before. The woman at the desk told me to come back Wednesday, "drop off is from 8-9" after treating me as if I didn't have a brain. So I did &showed up this morning &wasn't even scheduled today(weird). The lady was different & really nice & helpful. She told me it wasn't a problem they could still preform the surgery. Told me to come back between 4-5 to get him. So I did and met with the nice employee who explained everything to me. That's when the woman I talked to in the beginning who wasn't even helping me, came up to the desk screaming at me in front of other customers that my appointment was next Wednesday & can't I remember anything & that she called me Friday & talked with me about it. All of which were lies. So I got my cat, smiled &left. Never have I been treated the way I was today. I was waiting to see if my cat was hurt, that's the vibe I received from here. I have taken all of my pets to Dr Dana for everything from wormers to surgery. He is the most friendly vet I have ever met. When my Doberman was hit by a mustang going 50 mph, at 10:30pm, I put him in the car and went to his house. I knocked on his door and woke his whole family up I'm sure, but Dr. Dana immediately drove down to the clinic with myself and my dog and started to work. My dog, Maximus, was bleeding from his ears and nose and had a broken leg, I didn't think he would survive, but he did, Serge and his team were on point. He is the only veterinarian I will ever take my pets to again. He is a professional for sure. He truly loves all animals and it shows. Highly Recommended. read more

I have only used this clinic once and it was for a two day (and two dog) pet sitting with a couple of shots for each dog. I would never recommend this clinic. I had asked specifically, to make sure one of my dogs had his kennel accessible to him as it is his safe zone, They did not do this. When we picked up the dogs both of them smelled like urine as if the only way to potty was right there in the kennel all day long. I had to bathe them immediately because they smelled so awful. I felt horrible as I expected my dogs to be treated much better then they were. We have since used mid-valley vet for a much longer pet sitting situation where the care was much better and the prices were slightly cheaper and five days later my dogs did not come back to me smelling like a urinal. read more
