Boy, where to begin.... Was greeted by an angry bartender explaining they were short handed, and he was doing the best he could to show me and a friend to a table. No menus... we wait... and wait. Finally flag down a waitress (whom we were told was new to the job), who after taking drink orders, brings the wrong drinks. She disappears. We wait... and wait. Get our correct drinks and order food. My friend ordered pasta, me a veggie burger with side salad. Friend gets her pasta, and I get a black bean burger (? Ordered Veggie?) on a basic burger roll with plain shredded red cabbage. The salad was bagged lettuce with a few blue berries, ugh!! I'm hungry, so I pry apart the burger roll and scrape some of the black bean burger onto my fork. Mush. Just mush. Ok, so now I want out. The waitress has ditched us, and this place is getting to me. What find! Just had a massage and was hungry. So yelped and found this place. So adorable and welcoming. To celebrate my sisters birthday, we had espresso martinis. New discovery on East end of Main Street in patchogue across from the beautiful brick church there. Came here Saturday morning, on a whim with an out of town friend, what a delight. There was no wait to be seated, the hostess a delight. They opened at ten with a brunch menu and regular menu available. My wife got the French toast with fruit and a latte (Luke temp). I dabbled with a pesto chicken sandwich, truffle fries and a "pain killer" cocktail. I loved the fact the sandwich was actually bitable (as opposed to places that create sandwiches so large spilling out all over you can't possible even take a bite). This sandwich was fabulous. My friend and significant other enjoyed their meals and bevy's as well no complaints. See photos. The restaurant amade us iced macchiatos to go as we perused main street. Place was so good and beautifully decorated. You could throw any kind of party here and not even have to decorate. There is also an outdoor seating area with gorgeous flowers. Jardín has quickly become of my favorite spots for an enjoyable, healthy meal and I've only been here twice so far! I typically get one of their fresh juices along with my entrée and they don't disappoint. During my first visit, I had the chicken pesto sandwich and my God! I will have dreams about that sandwich it was so good!! The second time I visited, I ordered the Jardín Spring Salad and let me tell you, it'll be in my dreams right alongside that chicken sandwich. Was going to eat here while visiting my sister but we were 3 kids against 2 adults so we decided take out was the smart way to go. We ordered a feast and all it was all quite yummy. One of the reasons we went here was because my sister is a vegetarian and her daughter has a sensitivity to dairy. This spot is super accommodating all while keeping those Latin flavors. I really enjoyed the shrimp curry and ceviche. Those were my favs. The fried goat cheese was lacking something, but it wasn't bad at all. We enjoyed everything and it was TAKEOUT. I left all the kids with my sister and went out to grab the food. I was half sad we didn't go because the place looked beautiful. It's funny because, from the outside it looks like more of a brunch cafe, but it actually serves a full menu from breakfast to dinner. Note: the biz attributes will make you think it's an acai bowl and smoothie place and it's not. It's a full restaurant with pretty ambiance and a cocktail list. A great spot in Patchogue for dinner. When trying to find a restaurant in this area that could accommodate vegans and less open-minded, need to have meat or it's not dinner men (8 times out of 10 it's men, at least in my experiences), Jardin seemed like a good choice. I was with my father, husband and cousin, all of whom fit the aforementioned meat-seeking male-identifying descriptor. As we walked in, my husband took one look at the pretty flowers draped from the ceiling and said, "we'll meet you down the block at the Columbian restaurant" and I rolled my eyes because, god, that was so predictable. My cousin wisely noted later that this is the perfect place for him to come back to and sit at the bar (he's single. Tables of ladies filled the restaurant). He's the smart one, apparently. Although Jardin has the two leaf symbol all over the menu, be aware that it indicates vegetarian (of which there are many options) and a different symbol means vegan (of which there are far fewer options). I appreciate that they so clearly label everything. We were greeted and seated at the best seat in the house I think! A large booth up front that allows for you to feel the breeze coming from the open front windows, almost like you're outside. The staff is the nicest, too. We felt comfortable enough to stay a few hours (common in my Italian American family, not usually appreciated in most restaurants). They have a happy hour until 7pm, so we just made it. I had the red sangria which is $8 at happy hour, which is very good. They also have tropical drinks (Painkillers FTW) and classic cocktails. I went for the tofu carne asada, which is a large portion because it comes over brown rice and beans, plus pico de gallo and a pile of romaine (love) and most important, delicious guac. I enjoyed it, though the tofu could have had a lot more seasoning for my tastes. My cousin loved the chocolate explosion cake. I'm na little sad that a café like this doesn't have a single vegan dessert but you can't have everything. Verdict amongst our group: my cousin and I loved it, my husband said he'd come back and order something else (the chicken sandwich needed more seasoning) and my father told me he didn't like the menu (he's very much a traditionalist. If it's not Italian, any kind of Asian cuisine or American comfort food he ain't gonna dig it). read more

The atmosphere is deceiving, you think it's going to be a delightful experience but once you sit down and receive your drinks it goes down from there. My boyfriend ordered a lemonade and we were confused to see it come out with a purple color tone. To the terrible customer service where you have waiters and bartenders cursing and making jokes behind the bar. Once the appetizers came out we knew the rest of the meal was not going to be good. We ordered the octopus, ceviche, and wings. All the proteins were completely overcooked that they were inedible. Once we got our dinners the rice was boxed and hard, the steak was hard - you're chewing for literally like 10 mins. If you're looking for a nice date night with good food this is not the place for you. I would take your money elsewhere. read more

An interesting outing at this healthier cafe - some training for staff on greeting, table visits, upselling, etc could improve first impressions, in the end we were escorted to the outdoor table we desired and begin a lengthy wait for drinks while we read the menu a few times over. No specials although we hear about table order one after we received dinner. Maybe next time. Drink of Green tea and Mango was underwhelming and bland - not sure about the green tea part, seemed like mango water. Appetizers of shrimp ceviche and tuna tartare seemed like a great option. The ceviche was tender and seasoned just right, the Tuna unfortunately was not Ahi grade as indicated and had to be returned with manager apologies. For dinner a Ahi tuna and rice combo was visually stunning and delicious, the Skirt steak chimichuri and roasted potatoes was ok, a tiny 3 ounce portion was certainly not a value at over $30 and a small side of plantains for an extra $7 made this a tasty dinner they left us wanting more. We were very disappointed with the service at Jardins Café in Patchogue. Our poor experience began with cold coffee, and it took the waiter three attempts to finally bring us a hot cup. This ordeal alone took nearly an hour, and during that time we weren't even able to place our lunch order. When lunch finally arrived, it was cold as well and took an unusually long time to be served--despite the restaurant not being busy. None of us received hot food. My husband was already frustrated by the coffee situation, and then his lunch arrived cold. He requested to speak with the manager, and after voicing his complaint, he chose not to eat at all because of the poor service. He simply sat there while the rest of us ate. To make matters worse, the manager struggled to communicate clearly in English and showed no professionalism. There were six of us, and despite the terrible service, we were forced to pay a 20% tip. It was a horrible experience overall. I have never encountered service like this in all my years of dining out. read more

My friend wanted a coffee and we came across this restaurant. The intent was to get a drink and continue to our planned dinner place. While waiting, I was checking out the regular menu and it looked interesting. My friend saw a grass-fed burger and the pricing wasn't too bad. We decided to eat dinner here instead. I got a burrata flatbread pizza which was a personal size, which more like a salad when it first came out. There was a lot of arugula though the pizza was just the right amount of food. Buffalo wings (6) appetizers were pretty good. Just be prepared that your fingers will be covered in sauce. My friend liked the burger which came with a side of sweet potato (it wasn't too soft, nor too hard -- it's perfect). I was too full to even contemplate the desserts listed, which were all heavy. This cafe is on main street in Patchogue. The decor is cute, clean and fresh feeling. There is a long bar, tables, and a small outdoor seating area. The staff is very friendly but not overly accommodating which is nice. They have water on the table which I appreciate. They are a cleaner eating spot so for those looking for healthier, fresh options Jardin is great. They fresh squeeze their orange juice which is hard to find. It is some of the best fresh made orange juice I've had. The meal I got came with home fries. Unfortunately for me, it was not noted that there were sweet potatoes in the home fries and as I don't care for them there was a large part of my meal I didn't eat. The party I was with was very happy with their food. They even have gluten free options which is nice. The best part about this visit for me was their latte. This is one of the best lattes I have had on Long Island. I honestly can't think of a better latte. I've been to small coffee shops and big chains and Jardin has absolutely got it in their latte. I gotta tell you, this place was fun and great. I enjoyed their drinks, though I did taste my wife's drinks and they were o k a y. However, the food was BANGING! not to dismiss the drinks they get right; that pain killer drink that comes in a pineapple glass was awesome! The ambiance was fantastic. Their service was fair though I did notice they are a bit slow (I had a 6:30 reservation but had to wait, which was odd because they initially thought we were just stopping in and even after we said we had a reservation we had to wait). Upon first walking into Jardin Cafe, I felt way underdressed, but after sitting down and seeing other patrons I felt more comfortable. It is a cool "trendy" spot with plants hanging from the ceiling, and a neon sign next to an aesthetic chair. The service was GREAT, everyone greeted us when we walked in as well as on our way out, and our server was so sweet. I got the Island Curry with tofu. The Butterfly Pea Flower Latte tastes best hot, not iced like I initially ordered it because I drink iced anything. Heat brings out the floral, yet woodsy flavor of the drink. Ice removes the flavor. The avocado toast was light, creamy and perfectly seasoned, with no overpowering lemon flavor like what I have tasted in some other establishments. The bread itself was flavorful, hearty and crunchy. The food and drink came in less than ten minutes. Service was top notch. Ceviche is fresh and citrusy, and comes in a heaping bowl; salads, chicken, skirt steak entrees are all worthy of the clean plate club! Standard apps like chicken wings are leveled up with an apricot BBQ sauce that's totally addicting. Craft cocktails are some of the best around. We've sampled a number of flavored margaritas, but I'd imagine the rum drinks are amazing too. Service is friendly and helpful, if a little slow during one visit on a Friday night - possibly just an off day. The place is spacious but cozy, and noticeably clean! It's okay but overpriced. We've been there a few times. The tofu asada bowl was way too salty. On another order, the description said we got a fish dish but it had no fish. When we pointed that out, they just argued with me about it saying that it's not "supposed " to have fish. I told them I ordered what was on the menu and tried to show them the menu description to demonstrate we didn't receive what we ordered, but they refused to look at it and just argued about it saying there was nothing they could do. Obviously they could have issued a refund or a credit. We only realized the mistake after we got home so they didn't provide any resolution and just gas lighted about the problem even existing. They said we could go back in time and add fish to the order, but we were already at home. I don't get why this all had to be so argumentative. Came for restaurant week to try out something new! They had the $37 option. I had the butternut squash soup which was great and my husband had the tuna tartar which he also liked, as an app. We added on an app of goat cheese balls which were the best thing we had! You get 4, about 1 inch, deep fried balls with arugula, heirloom tomatoes and a fig jam. We ate everything and was scraping the bottom of the bowl for the fig sauce/ jam because it was so good. For entrees, I had teriyaki steak which was great. The portion was huge and I couldn't finish it. My husband had the truffle pasta which was okay. It wasn't bad by any stretch but really didn't wow us and wasn't something I would come back for again. I only gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because the service was insanely slow. The server was so kind, smiley and helpful, but if you told me he was cooking and serving, it wouldn't surprise me because he was running out. I would add, the decor inside is beautiful and I think I would come back again for a cafe like experience, not a more formal dinner. read more
