Coming here for years with my girls when they were very young. The restaurant had the greatest value for kids meals. We love the marinated steaks. The prime rib is also amazing. Best thing about the restaurant is all the temperature of the meat that are always perfect to order. The dinner comes with soup or salad and variety of side dishes. The service can be hit or miss. It's a great family restaurant.

We usually go to the J&R's in Calverton since it is closer to our house. We enjoy it there and there's always all the locals sitting at the bar. The food is good, and it's a nice atmosphere. Our friends went to the this J&R's since they were in the area of Rocky Point, so my husband and I met them there. I was really surprised at how much I liked this place. I found out that they are independently owned, and their menu, in my opinion was much nicer. They offer healthier selections, and all of the food was delicious! I had the grilled chicken with avocado, and it was awesome! Colin our bartender, made the most delicious drinks, and was really friendly and attentive. He also took our orders since we ordered and sat at the bar. He did an awesome job serving us and talking with us, making our entire experience great! He also ensured all of our food came out on time and was the way we wanted it. He was the only one behind the bar, and took care of everyone! I would definitely come back here. This used to be a J&R's but then changed to another place that did not do well at all. We haven't been back since they reopened to J&R's again, and we're so happy we went back. I think that if more people went to this J&R's, the one in Calverton will definitely have competition, as far as their menu and service. I highly recommend checking this place out!

ordered the prix fix 20 ounce rib eye for 40$ what i got was a shell steak , even the server sam agreed , they made be a new one to got just got home and it's the same thing this in not a ribeye i called to talk to the manager who was there when i left 20 min ago and nemia or limia she said her name was, was rude and said he's off today , he was there when i left i left my name and number , i will be posting on all the foodies groups this is crazy , if they didn't have it they should of just said it, if i wanted a shell steak that was tough and chewy that's what i would of ordered for half the price , but i like ribeye that melts in your mouth and is fatty

    To-go drinks!

Steak is good especially the marinated choice. Good prices, service is pleasant. Simple down to earth atmosphere.

This place is absolutely amazing. Food is great. But the service is slow. Wish they would have more vegetarian options.

Another food safari and another BBQ crawl with my son-in-law (we're both aspiring pitmasters and…read morelove to try new places together; it's our thing). This week's excursion brought us to Struggletown BBQ in Mount Sinai, NY. From what I learned, what started as a food truck morphed into a brick-and-mortar business that has obviously hit its stride. This place is awesome! On the table this time was a "Big John Sampler", a 1/4# platter of brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs, as well as a side of chicken wings in an Alabama White Sauce and corn bread. Absolute winners all around. My first real introduction to corn bread was from Paul Prudhomme's cookbook "Louisiana Kitchen," where I learned to make, and love, a traditional southern corn bread (moist, flaky, and somewhat sweet). Of all the places that I've been to, in my humble opinion, this place has the best outside K-Paul's. There is a reason that it's one of the most requested items from the restaurant. It was excellent! Why am I making a fuss about cornbread? Because it's the details that make a restaurant great. Next came the chicken wings in Alabama White Sauce. I'm now a convert. Sure, I've had it a few times, but this version was eye-opening! Perfectly smoked, then fried chicken wings slathered in this red-sauce alternative was an epiphany for me. I don't think I'll ever look at the humble chicken wing the same way again. I am spoiled for life! Goodbye Buffalo, hello Decatur (where the sauce reputedly originated). Yeah, that good and worth traveling for. The meats? What you want from a BBQ joint. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were all juicy and smoked to perfection; the ribs had a smoke ring that made me jealous of their skill set (I'll get there one day). Have I said "awesome? yet? Plenty of parking, all cards, and they cater! This is one of those places that you'll want to day trip to if you're jonesing for some smoky greatness. Very nice people behind the counter and a magician working the pits. You gotta go here. Just not on a Monday, they're closed.

By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. As always with local restauranteurs little to no attention paid to the noise level. My ears were bleeding throughout dinner. The restaurant needs decor which creates a warmer inviting presence. Our food was delicious but the wait time for the meals and drinks was insufferable. BTW, the wait time for the check was equally as painful. To the owners, get your (you know what) together and figure this out. You will not succeed unless immediate improvements are made.

When we entered the…read moreestablishment, the seating area was empty, by the time we left, at around 5:00 PM, the place was getting crowded. We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.
