Since we wanted to spend more time in the space and wanted it to be beautiful but uncluttered, we knew we needed help. We were referred to Kim and it was the perfect referral! She took our limited space and mapped out a plan that was perfect and incorporated everything we needed and wanted. Her process is pretty amazing; she spent a few hours with us in the backyard, asking questions and taking notes. When we were unsure about something, she'd make suggestions and help us reach a decision. She contacted us when she got to her office and we had a Zoom meeting where we reviewed a lot of details of the plan. That was a few hour process and we were exhausted when we got done but that same day we received from her a complete plan incorporating all the hardscape, landscaping, and plants, as well as a materials list. We were amazed! Her pricing is very reasonable and we felt we got much more value than what she charged. What's more, some of our design needed to change over the next few months as we were implementing the plan and Kim quickly responded to all of our questions and challenges with great suggestions. Kim is definitely someone we will recommend without hesitation to anyone looking for interesting, beautiful landscape design quickly and at a reasonable price.

We ran into some difficulties at the start due to a last-minute cancellation by Matt and some unresponsiveness through email. When we voiced our concerns, Matt really stepped up to ensure our concerns were met. He immediately refunded us for the cost of the service, and he offered to meet with us at no cost. We ended up taking a 30 minute video chat with him, and Matt was super helpful in explaining various options. When we realized that his typical project scope was a bit bigger than what we wanted to spend, Matt was very gracious in connecting us with other contractors and designers. Despite the early hiccups, we got the sense that Matt is a genuine guy who is more interested in doing the right thing rather than making quick buck. We really appreciate his thoughtfulness, and we will definitely consider engaging with his services again in the future!

The virtual call was perfect for our project, we provided Matt with pictures of the backyard space as well as a video walkthrough. He took this information as well as our preferences for how we envisioned the space to be used to come up with a 2D design. He also recommended materials and local contractors. We contacted one of the contractors a few weeks later and finished the project with them in about 2 months. I highly recommend the Virtual Consultation for smaller projects with Matt. His feedback for our questions and experience with similar projects were very beneficial to starting this backyard project for us.

We were so happy with the new driveway and front yard landscaping that Unique Pavers did last year…read more(below) that we hired them again! They completely transformed our backyard to include two patios surrounding a putting green, a low wall, pathways, and new landscaping with fruit trees and a hedge with drip irrigation. An extensive drainage system included french drains, area drains, and tying the downspouts directly into drains. This was important because water would pool in our backyard after heavy rains. We had high expectations because we knew what Unique Pavers did for our driveway and front yard, and they did not disappoint! Rick has amazing vision when it comes to designing spaces. Dan is a great project manager who was onsite nearly every day and has excellent communication skills. And the hardscape and landscape crews really know how to execute; they worked hard and worked together well. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to accommodate our detailed requests, moving a favorite plant, and waiting for a smart lighting controller to be shipped. I could say more but the fact that we are a repeat customer says it all! Unique Pavers is a good value and we highly recommend them.

This was also the first winter that I didn't have water seeping into our foundation and flooding, all thanks to the drainage work that Unique Pavers did at the same time as repaving. Of all the companies I got quotes from, Chris was the only one to ACTUALLY LISTEN to our vision. He asked questions, and gave valuable feedback to bring our idea to life. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND when he noticed the water damage and gave a very reasonable price to address it (in hindsight, this was such a huge value add that I hadn't even considered). He also project managed the coordination with my separate fencing contractor, which I really appreciated. He's timely, efficient, responsive, and extremely thorough. Construction has many unknowns, and it's the way the team handles things that leaves lasting impressions. When the team hit a water main (not their fault, the original was improperly placed), they immediately contacted a plumber to solve the problem within hours. When we had a rain delay, they kept us updated and managed to complete the project on schedule. I also appreciated that the team was not working over time, they took breaks, had a toilet, and seemed happy, which was great to see. Both Chris and Rick came by to check on progress, and also afterwards, to check up on how things were. 100% recommend this company (and ask for Chris!)

The previous owners lived there for 65 years and I suspect through the years they've just slowly grew random crap back there. I reached out to some other landscapers here with good yelp reviews and they were all extremely expensive! Or they didn't bother responding to my inquiry. One even told me they were only going to work on projects that were at least $20,000 minimum. DA FUK? So I found Tyler through Craigslist. I'm glad I did. I shot him an email, he quickly responded and we were able to set up a meeting date so he can come check out my place to provide a quote. We wanted our backyard cleaned up. Remove all the random bushes and awkward trees, help with random dirt mounds. Help prevent weeds and assist us with doing some drought tolerant landscaping. During our meeting, he was very informative on what we were looking to doing and what needed to be done to accomplish our goal. He then emailed me his quote and it was SUPER fair. Way more affordable than expected. We accepted his quote and he came by with a 2nd helper and did all the work in one business day. He came by after I left for work and just finished up when I returned. It was magical. This hot mess of a back yard was finally clean. I never knew my yard was as big as it is because it was filled with random, bushes and crap before. He was super easy to talk to and I without a doubt will reach back out to him again for future projects. In fact, my husband wants him to help with the front yard now.

UPDATE 05/19/17…read more Bummed to have to leave this update, as I highly respect Tyler, and was very pleased with him (and crew) early on in my project, but since then, it's been very challenging to get support following the installation. The initial project scope was to remove a plum tree that had been sprouting saplings all over our backyard. It was a highly invasive tree, and we hired DiSalvo to essentially rip up part of the backyard, remove the tree, remove roots, and plant new sod, etc... And now after several months passed, we already see saplings popping up again all over the place. It's extremely frustrating, and upon asking for support from DiSalvo, we were told that this is essentially no longer their issue. They said the only way to prevent this was to rip up the entire yard, and since they didn't do that, they can't control where these saplings will pop up... and so literally no help, support, whatsoever for this issue. Just a text message response after thousands of dollars spent on services, and we feel the primary issue is not quite resolved. On top of that, the redwood fence we had them put in is already falling apart. They came back a couple times after the installation to make small repairs, but now after a few more months, there are yet additional issues. Some parts of the fence are literally falling apart, and now DiSalvo will not even respond anymore. I think Tyler (owner) is just fed up with our post-work issues, concerns, and requests to make repairs... And now we are simply ignored. Our concerns are valid, so being ignored should not be the answer. PREVIOUS REVIEW: It took several weeks to find a landscape service that was reliable, responsible, and able to support the many projects we needed. Finding DiSalvo was really refreshing, and we knew fairly quickly that Tyler (owner) was the right guy for the job. We were looking for: raised planter boxes, root removal, stump removal, Gold Fines, sod replacement, water tolerant plants, (maple) tree planting, and over 120 feet of redwood (good neighbor) fence replacement. Tyler was responsive to our needs, and did not shy away from the many requests along the way. He was able to problem solve, kept a clean work site, and completed all work in a reasonable amount of time. His prices were competitive, and we felt we were getting the best value at all stages. While there were times when communication seemed to fade between projects, it was never hard to reach Tyler via text or phone, and at the end of the day, my family and I are very happy with the outcome!
