Came in for lunch and had a beautiful meal. Server was kind and the owner Angel was hustling working the floor and talking with guests. Very beautiful restaurant with an awesome menu and great food. Had the pork burrito which was served with an awesome side salad. For dessert I had the goats milk flan with caramel. INCREDIBLE!!! Husband got the conchinita pibil and this was 4-5 * for both of us. Really good sauce with a strong cumin flavor. The side salad had a homemade dressing. This was also good. I got carnita and asada tacos. The flavor was good and they gave a huge portion of meat but the meat on both was very dry. So much so I had to use some other sauce to help and drink extra water. The tortilla was pretty thick, which was fine but it didn't have a lot of flavor. Chips were handmade and thick. Two kinds of sauces- both were really good. Both had a little heat. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. It's the kind of place you want to frequent. We would return and just order something different. read more

Without a doubt, the best traditional Mexican you are going to find near Colorado Springs. We go again and again for weekly specials (sign up for emails) and their Pozole is the best I've tried at a restaurant. Don't be dissuaded by the exterior of the restaurant; the inside is beautiful. The bar is expertly stocked with tequilas and decorated with traditional Mexican Molinillos hanging from the ceiling. So original. To say I was surprised to find such an outstanding Mexican restaurant in an unassuming strip mall in the small town of Monument is an understatement. Jarrito Loco has one of the most authentic menus I've seen in Colorado- no overly greasy, fried junk covered in cheap cheese here. All meats seem of high quality and are cooked with care. Sauces are flavorful and unique. Tortillas and chips have a texture and taste that are clearly freshly handmade. Food presentation is colorful and tantalizing. The day we visited was very chilly so my friend and I indulged in the hearty Canitas Locas and the Chuletas. Both pork dishes, but very different and delicious. I loved the beans and salad that the carnitas came with, but then wanted to dip my meat in the sauce is the chuletas. Ultimately both dishes were wonderful. Washing them down with margaritas is advised! I look forward to returning and trying some of their other dishes. read more

Rosi was excellent, I appreciate her service and friendliness. The food, well I had the Pozole and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS!!! I have high expectations since my mom's pozole is the best I've had lol but this one is pretty good too. My fiance had the Chilaquiles locos and he said they were excellent. Absolutely the best place to have Mexican Food in all of Colorado ! Angel Jimenz and his wife (The owners) are aways there - serving tables and greeting the guest... I have been eating here since it was just a little place in the strip mall by Safeway. In the last year they have taken over the Village Inn location off the highway on 105 in Monument. And it's still always just jammed packed ! However if you have ever eaten there you would know why and agree !! It's family owned and family ran like all great restaurants of the past. I love this place and love the Jimenz's for there commitment to the food and business! read more

18 May 23 - my husband and I met two of my friends who I had not seen for several years there for dinner. One of them used to live here and now lives in Wisconsin. Dinner was her treat since she does not get to come to Colorado Springs that often. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Springs because of their excellent service, food and Spanish speaking waiters. Had my usual, their grill chicken quesadillas because they do not put any peppers in them or spicy ingredients that upset my stomach. It also comes with sour cream and guacamole. The only thing I wish they had on their menu is ground beef burritos which my husband loves and they only have carne asada or chopped carne asada burritos. He ordered the chicken burrito which was loaded with chicken and was so big that he brought the rest home. I also could not finish my delicious quesadilla because I got full of chips and salsa which come with a choice of two salsas, one that was green and the other was regular salsa. I also got a to go box for my quesadillas. This is a our second visit to this beautifully decorated Mexican restaurant and I am sure we will continue to visit it when we want great Mexican food. I also appreciated the owner coming to our table to ask if we satisfied with our food. read more

First time I've been there since they moved to the new location. The food was pretty good, but a comment made by the owner, Angel, was totally unacceptable and inappropriate. I was with a small group, and we were laughing and talking with Angel, the owner. Everything was great. We talked about ordering more drinks and I asked if Happy Hour was still on. He said no. I joked and asked that surely you can make us a deal? His response was, "No. Are you a Jew?" I am not, but that was TOTALLY inappropriate! What if I was? I would be proud of my heritage and should not be judged because of it. And should that really matter? Would he ask if I was black, Hispanic, or Christian? Would he like it if I asked him, 'NO, are your Hispanic/Mexican" and should I pass judgment on you or be biased toward you because of your heritage? Should I be asked if I'm Catholic, Methodist or Baptist? WHY did he think it was OK to ask such a question. With what is happening in the world he had very poor judgment and a total lack of sensitivity. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back. Shame on you Angel. read more

Stopped in as we were traveling through from Denver. Burritos were excellent! Everything else we had here was mediocre at best. The cheese was not melted in the Chile rellenos and they were covered in a thick tomato sauce. The enchiladas were dry. We did enjoy the salsa sampler, but only actually liked a few of them. What a pleasant surprise!!! I saw a sign on I-25 that said " Homemade Tortillas" so I thought I'd give it a try for lunch. Food was so amazing!!! Did not expect a former Village Inn to deliver like this. I had the Cochinita Pibil tacos and the pork was supreme, so well seasoned and cooked! Indeed the corn tortilla they were on was homemade. Huge portions, excellent food made to order by request. We had our food delivered, through grub hub, but our driver was courteous and punctual. The food was just okay. I ordered a To Go order and will not go back. The rice and the cheese enchiladas were both ok but that can't sustain a restaurant. Sadly, the chips were stale and the salsa lacked any flavor. The carne asada tacos tasted incredibly dry and were thrown away as they were inedible. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. The restaurant looks cute inside but the food was beyond underwhelming and quite frankly disappointing. Way overpriced considering I ended up having to cook dinner and throw this away. Not the best experience, but the food was good. We were in town visiting family and stopped by for dinner. Granted is was a busy evening, but I've never had to ask repeatedly for chips and salsa for the table. Service was terrible slow and we never received some of the items we asked for, like more water. The food and drinks were good though. Not sure I'd eat here again next time I'm in town. read more

Another new restaurant I tried out a few days ago in Monument. The reviews are very good, in general. I ordered two breakfast burritos, the Loco and Rojo. These things are huge, almost enough for 2 people. I wish I could have gotten a half order because I didn't have anybody to share them with. A little heavy on the hash browns, so that's not my style. I'm interested in trying some other items on their highly diverse menu. Their food is not cheap but if the tacos are as big as the breakfast burritos, then they might be worth the $3.50 plus charged for just one. We'll see. read more

DO NOT PASS THIS BY! This is easily the best Mexican food in the area! Absolutely lovely family that runs this business. Amazing service, great bar, HUGE selection of top notch tequilas! Roomy and comfortable seating. And the food... Simply to die for. Fresh, traditional, and some utterly delicious items not often found at other places. I definitely recommend EVERYTHING on their menu. Have not been disappointed once. Great salsas too! And, they have Pinot Grigio. Sounds unimportant, but it's my fave wine and most other places stuck to awful Chardonnay. Great for groups! Kid friendly. Super tasty & great ambiance! Go try it! Well, we finally returned 3 years later to try again. I honestly do not know why this place has such high ratings. My husband said his chicken burrito was ok. I got fajitas - chicken. I think the guac tastes watered down with something. It is not the texture of guac - the thick nice texture of avocados. Next the chicken was all grizzly and I tried to chew some and it was just tough. The green peppers were in big chunks not ready to put on a tortilla. The tomatoes were wilted overcooked - ick. The homemade corn tortillas were thick and not tasty at all. There was nothing about this meal that I enjoyed except the green salsa and even then 1/2 the chips they brought us were ok and the other half were greasy. Did they just make them and not give them time to drain. I will never go back here ever again. Place was clean - service was friendly. I can easily make better fajitas at home in 30 minutes. read more

Located next to Safeway in shopping center. Decorated cute. Food is very fresh, but has no flavor!! I was putting so much salt on mine to try to make it tasty! Thus, I left feeling full but it just didn't hit the spot you want it to hit when you leave a Mexican restaurant. No queso. Guac is good. On the menu, they have it listed where the recipe is from (which city in Mexico or Texas) which is neat. The place was too busy when we were there and they needed more wait staff. We had 3 different people coming to check on us because they were just helping eachother where they could, I think. You pay on an iPad which is nice. Definitely some pluses to this place, but for you the lack of flavor I can't go over 2 stars. read more

We are so lucky to have a place of this quality and authenticity locally in our small town. Be sure to bear with the staff as they iron out the inevitable logistical issues presented by what was an abandoned building. We ordered the weekly special, an Albondigas soup that lit the house on fire in the best way possible. These sort of flavors don't happen by accident. It's complex and unique. This ain't your run-of-the-mill soup du jour tortilla soup or Pozole. An appropriately named Cadillac Margarita adjoined and supported the spicy soup. Come to Jarrito Loco. Not sure what the hype is about Jarrito Loco, maybe the folks in Monument were just overly excited to have something new. My wife and I shared some items. The Loco breakfast burrito was ok. Not great and not worth $8. For a better breakfast burrito I'll stick to Taco Express or Rodolfo's. The tostadas were overly bland. Basically it was like they forgot to season the carnitas, chicken and carne asada. Heck even the guac was boring. The staff seemed lackadaisical about service, the kitchen staff even more so as it took quite awhile to get said food. If this doesn't tell all; one of the cooks went on break and went to Arby's. read more
