After reading all the raving reviews, I was excited to try a restaurant that had a different twist on asian food. It was like a Vietnamese PF Chang's. The atmosphere was on the nicer end and there was a bar. Red flags usually go up for me when I walk in and the majority of the customer base isn't the ethnicity of the food it serves and if it's asian food, a bar in the restaurant. I set low expectations of authenticity of the food. Even non-authentic food can be tasty. Wrong. We ordered egg rolls, pot stickers, curry noodles, pho, and won ton soup. Eggrolls and pot stickers were mediocre, the curry was overly coconutty, and the pho and won ton were incredibly salty. I respectfully disagree with those that say the HH is a good deal. Happy Hour prices did not justify the incredibly small portions. I had 3 won tons in my soup.... 3!? At least be delicious if you are gonna charge me $1.50 per won ton. Not at all. The won ton wasn't filled with shrimp like its suppose to but more like some gross mystery meat. The small bowl of soup probably had 200% your daily diet's worth of sodium. The soup was also doused in dried shallots. They should look up the definition of a garnish. The only thing that was good was the atmosphere and service which probably mixed with alcohol caused a halo effect for this place. read more

Jasmine 26: when your pho is so goddamned good, what is ever to motivate me to try anything else? This giant menu full of interesting dishes, and I can't help but order the pho. More addictive than crack. I finally tried the beef pho, and the broth is weak-at-the-knees good. Honestly, everything else in the soup just seems unnecessary (and honestly, those meatballs were rubbery. That's where your one star went). Listen, just start serving that broth as a beverage, and I then I will be free to try other things on the menu. Deal? And hey! People! Get in here!! Why is this place empty and that overpriced pisshole Azia always busy? We CANNOT lose this place. read more

Buddha beers, fresh ginger ale cocktails and amazing upscale Asian food without the Azia pretense, Jasmine 26 is a new favorite. The happy hour is more than affordable and is basically a full dinner menu. I've tried the coconut cream cheese wontons (sweet), potstickers (savory), curry noodles (sooo good.) and pho (also sooo good). The only thing that seemed to be lacking are the desserts, but we didn't have room anyway. The drinks are nice too and at happy hour they are cheap. $3 beer, 1/2 price wine, 1/2 price specialty cocktails. I like the ginger fizz and the cucumber martini best. The staff is wonderful. The owner or manager stopped at my table both times I've been there and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Our servers were really helpful at explaining dishes and making recommendations too. It's never crowded...so get your butts in there before another great restaurant goes under. read more

Nothing turns me off from a restaurant more than the word "fusion." For me it always just means bastardization. And at first Jasmine 26 had that Asian fusion vibe that makes me barf every time I think about it. However, I wanted to treat my friend to a Birthday lunch and since she came from a smaller town in Missouri, she's been a little hesitant about expanding her boundaries. I figured Jasmine 26 would be a nice safe introduction to Asian cuisine. She ordered the fresh spring rolls and I got the chicken pad thai. The restaurant is really nice in that upper scale modern design aesthetic kind of way. The waiters were super nice and the food was surprisingly delicious. The lunch prices weren't bad at all. My pad thai was good and it had a lot of fried egg which makes me happy. I can't wait to go back and eat the pho. read more

I promise this is my last update for Jasmine 26 ever. You have my word. But, 13 (or maybe it was 15, I lost count) of us went in yesterday and everyone walked out super happy a couple of hours later. The employees were incredibly nice and efficient. Sure, a few people had to wait longer than the others for their food, but they had all ordered more complicated dishes. As usual, the coconut cream cheese wontons blew my face off. And a few people (who had never been there before) all made the comment, "Why isn't this place busier?" My heart is broken, guys. It's a challenge to find good Asian or Thai food WITH a good ambiance. When Jasmine 26 opened, I was a regular. Hell, all of my circle of friends and myself were! The pho is my favorite, and they had good service and a full bar. Win! But this place in the past, I dunno, year? Holy crap. What is with the day care in the restaurant? The past 2 times there has been screaming kids (I'm not kidding, SCREAMING). I noticed that someone else commented about this in their Yelp, too. Our server was mortified and we overheard her talk to her boss about it and ask the kids be removed (which tells me that they are in the owner's possession). Bottom line: Money is tight. I can't afford to take a risk. I want to go out and have a wonderful experience. Most people won't throw caution to the wind with their hard earned $$ by having kids running around being disasters, even if the pho is ... omg, amazing. And it's gotten dirty. There are big dust bunnies on the light fixtures. You invested in this nice space and in less than 5 years, it's starting to look trashy. The pho, however, is still my favorite in all of MPLS. But the risk of a screaming kid prevents me from racing back. I can go to Roat OSHA and not run the risk of this. So, that's what I'll do. Boo. RIP, Jasmine 26. This place is simply alright. Given the other restaurants in the area, (e.g. Quang's, Pho 79) Jasmine 26 is extremely mediocre. We started off with the cream cheese wontons that everybody had been raving about. For $6, they certainly did not live up to the hype. I've had better ones at Chinese buffets. First of all, for the price, only getting 4 for what really amounts to fried dough, cream cheese and coconut shavings is a little ridiculous. The filling was kind of bland and the coconut really didn't add much to it. My girlfriend ordered the Spicy Eggplant. It was alright, definitely not spectacular. Compared to other eggplant dishes I've had at other Asian restaurants, there was very little eggplant to be had. What it really should have been called is, Stir-fried Chicken and vegetables with a few pieces of eggplant. I got the Pad Thai. I felt the Pad Thai was pretty bland, it could have used more flavor. I don't think it was as tangy as other pad thais I've had. It wasn't bad. Just think it could be more flavorful. I will give credit to the decor, it was very nice, pretty classy for an Asian restaurant. We went on a Tuesday night, we were the only people seated in the dining area, and only a couple people were at the bar. My general rule for Ethnic restaurants is, if you don't see that ethnicity eating there, then it's probably no good. But if nobody's there, then it is definitely not good at all. read more

Bookmarked this place to try based on other reviewers and it was great! It's kinda sexy in there with the low lighting that makes everyone look good, the prices are not scary at all and the food was amazing! We ordered the salt & pepper tofu ($6) for an app based on all of the praise here and were not disappointed at all. Definitely the best tofu I have ever had (I know that's probably not saying much) but tofu aside this was an amazingly good appetizer. Let me repeat, AMAZINGLY good. The outer edges were a little crispy and firm, salty, sweet and spicy all at once with warm ooey gooey tofu-y centers. For din, I had the lemongrass noodle salad with mock duck ($12). Again, delightful with plenty of leftovers to spare. The Mr. had the Red Peanut Curry with Roasted Duck ($15) and it was yummy too, but you really can't go wrong with a dish that combines coconut curry with eggplant, sweet potatoes and peanuts now can you? I think not. No room for dessert this time. Other mentions - good service, I appreciate the double entry way (no ice cold MN drafts blasting you while you're enjoying your dinner) and fun cocktails and bubble teas. After I came back from Vietnam, I searched and searched for a restaurant that served food like I ate over there. Most Vietnamese restaurants in town serve pho (soup), bun (noodle salads), com (broken rice plates) and banh mi (sandwiches) but not a whole lot else. And let me tell you, there's a whole lot more to Vietnamese food. So I was excited when Jasmine 26 rolled out their new (well it's not so new anymore I suppose) extended menu. They promised me they were going to have my favorite dish on the menu, and sure enough they did. Ca Kho to (claypot catfish in caramel sauce). Of course I had to get it right away. It was good. Not as good as I had it in Vietnam but not bad at all. (And certainly better than what they serve at Mai Village which is the only other place I've seen this) Better than the claypot fish was their Luc Lac Beef (Shaken Beef, can't recall exactly what they call it on the menu) that was definitely a favorite and I have always loved their salt and pepper tofu. Other people have mentioned it and I have to agree, it is awesome. Their alcoholic bubble teas aren't bad either. (And just FYI their drinks are half the price of Azia's which is just across the street) They also have some really good hotpot soups, the bitter melon one is quite nice. I'm a fan of Jasmine Deli so it's no surprise I'm also a fan of Jasmine 26. The family that owns them are incredibly sweet and accommodating. The atmosphere in Jasmine 26 is stylish (I love the big hand carved buddha over the bar), the prices reasonable, and the food is good. Next time you feel like expanding your idea of Vietnamese food, this is definitely the place to go. read more

I know that fish sauce is a must for Vietnamese cuisine, but this place made me realize how less tolerable (nowadays) I am with salty dishes. Don't get me wrong, I love salt on everything I eat, especially on fruits like apples, grapes, strawberries, and watermelon. But the thing is, because of the salty taste, I couldn't savor any other flavors. Here were the three dishes my dinnerdate and I ordered one Friday evening: 1. Salt & pepper tofu 2. Seafood hotpot 3.Caramelized claypot catfish The tofu was delicious. It was exactly what I expected based on Yelp reviews. The two dishes we shared was nothing but pure NaCl to me. And since I didn't have lunch that day, I had to gulp gallons of water to cancel the amount of salt intake I've digested into my body. Sadly, I am bound to give this restaurant less stars than I have intended to give. I would give it 2 stars but the service was great and the owner stopped by our table twice. read more

Ordered via Bitesquad delivery -the papaya salad is waaaay over-salted. The chicken-bao came in 4 super-tiny bun bites, ridiculously small and completely missing any flavor as there was barely any room to stuff any filling in the bao buns. Jasmine 26 makes me forget that I am in Minneapolis on Eat Street. It is real--no pretense, no prattle--just a restaurant that cooks food that is tasty and interesting. It's not the same ol' same ol' that we often get around here, where one place has a good dish and that's all you will see for the next 3 years. Here, the menu offers up the familiar with a twist, a surprising variation on a standby and somethings completely new. We've been 4 times now and each time we have been very happy with our meal and our experience. Last night I had the sweet apple salad, which is a tasty sweet and sour slaw that was surprising and delicious, and the vegetarian spring rolls which are hearty and the sauce is superb. Entrees were the always delicious Basil Noodles (with tofu) and rich, savory Coconut Hot Pot. Each dish, like all that we have had here, has its own unique flavor and distinct personality. I went to Jasmine 26 based on other Yelpers reviewers; I must say I was excited to try a place that came so highly recommended. That said, what I experienced was the absolute worst service I've ever experienced in Minneapolis. The room was barely a 1/5 full, so I can't really blame it on the restaurant being busy. Our waiter spent most of the evening chatting up the hostess. Empty water glasses, plates didn't get cleared in a timely manner, the waiter was completely lackluster and didn't offer any suggestions or off to bring out their tray of hot sauce. And after staring at my companion for 10 minutes over empty plates waiting for the waiter to acknowledge our existence, I had to get the check myself from the bar. The food itself was so-so, certainly not worth the price. I can think of at least a dozen places on Eat Street that are superior in every single way. Don't waste your time with Jasmine 26; they obviously don't appreciate your business. read more

My fiance and I are newly vegan and had somewhat of a difficult time finding a really nice restaurant to go to for Valentine's Day, where we wouldn't have to work so hard to figure out what to eat. A new friend, Kedar D., had said Jasmine 26 was a good choice. We were armed with reviews on what were the best items on the menu, including the sea salt and pepper tofu (which definitely lived up to our expectations!) Our server was great - she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and helped us to easily navigate the menu. Everything we ordered was delicious: the aforementioned tofu (I must go back for that!) green curry with mock duck, veggie spring rolls and lemongrass noodle salad. The atmosphere was exactly what we wanted - way more upscale and swanky then the usual Vietnamese restaurant - and definitely a good place for a romantic dinner for two or a night out on the town with friends. read more

I visited this place for the first time last Thursday night. For 5:30pm on a Thursday, the place was eerily empty (we were the only customers there the entire time), but I tried not to let that influence how I felt about the restaurant. We ordered the steamed potstickers and egg rolls for appetizers. The potstickers were great, and the egg rolls came in a traditional Vietnamese super thin, flaky wrap. Yum! For my entree I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and it was SO GOOD. Tip: the portion was easily enough for two. My dad ordered the Banh Tam, which he loved and wants to order again. Also, our waitress was very sweet and attentive! We plan on returning to Jasmine 26. read more

I came here for dinner with a few friends for a birthday. The ambience of Jasmine 26 is great, nice lighting, modern furnishings, clean appearance, no clutter. The staff is charming and nice. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgable about beer, not sure if he's a solo superstar or if it is a quality that the managers try to instill in their staff, but I was really pleased with his opinions on beer. He was really quick to help us with anything we needed. The food is really tasty, I really really liked it! I ordred the cocconut cream cheese wontons with pineapple sauce simply because I read the reviews and saw they were a favorite of some of the yelpers I trust out there :) I am so happy I did!!! I love love love the cocconut cream cheese wontons!!!! I ordered the chicken curry for my main entree and I was really happy with my dish. There was just the right amount of spice on it. Yummy! Total experience is sensational, but the nit pickety stuff first. The black obsidian tables kind of mess up the acoustics, which weren't all that to begin with considering that the music choice was a bit on the odd side. Odd does not equal bad, not by a long shot. Just a little grating. The Hitachino Japanese beer is totally awesome. (7% too ;) I was fortunate enough to be able to speak with the owner of this fine establishment, she was a good trip and then some. Further the food was great and so was the service. So ok, maybe they should go a little more heavy on the peanuts, a little lighter on the broth, julien or cube their carrots or what have you. but for $15? a great value. Let me start off my saying that I've wanted to try Jasmine 26 for several months now. Not only have my fellow Yelpers given it a thumbs up, but they have an interesting menu and a great happy hour! I finally got to go yesterday with my mother. It didn't matter that it was below freezing or lightly snowing outside - we were going to load ourselves down with fresh mint, cilantro, and lime no matter what. And I'd say we succeeded. We split the pork egg rolls, which weren't bad but kind of lacking in texture or anything that looked like bean threads; the outside was crackling crisp, though. We then moved onto the spicy beef salad that was light and refreshing with a tasty zip at the end. For our entrees, I had the beef pho and my mom the pork-shrimp wonton soup. I've eaten a lot of pho and I really enjoyed Jasmine 26's for having a relatively light broth with a nice herbal complexity. They also get points for leaving the raw onions and bean sprouts on the side! The wonton soup was also nice; it was really, really garlicy, but in a way that balanced everything else in the bowl. I was a little perplexed that they have this happy hour with cheap drinks and really, really good food specials advertised on their website, but not at their restaurant. We were handed regular menus; I asked about the happy hour and the waiter acknowledged it, but only for the drinks! On my way out, I saw the happy hour menu at the host's podium. Maybe he forgot? I just wanted to try smaller portions of more dishes. Obviously I'll have to make a return trip for further investigation.... read more

This is a unique, interesting place to try, right around the corner from Bad Waitress on 26th Street. Staff is quirky, food is above average, and drinks are great! They offer a small menu with curries, noodle dishes, and actual vegetarian options! Atmosphere: 4.5 Jasmine 26 has a very romantic, aesthetically-appealing setting, with a bar running along one side of the restaurant. Great for a special night out. Service: 4.0 Our server made sure we had what we needed and could recommend the popular vegan dishes. Food: 4.5 We had the Salt and Pepper Tofu, the crepe, and the coconut hot pot. All were delicious, but the crepe was by far the best. It had a crunchy crisp texture, filled with tofu, mock duck, and vegetables that were perfectly seasoned, and came with a light dressing that finished this dish off perfectly. The Salt and Pepper Tofu was a great appetizer (a bit too salty for some, perhaps, but I thoroughly enjoyed it), though I think it would have been better served with a bit of rice. The coconut hot pot was very good, and the vegetables fresh, but it was not as stellar and original as the crepe (at least to someone who has had curries with lemongrass in them before). read more

Husband and I went for Vietnamese. Wanted to go to Jasmin Deli, but it was closed so we went to more expensive Jasmin 26. Spring Rolls | $5 ($6 with shrimp) = OK No pork, no herbs, flavor was bland. Sea Salt & Pepper Tofu Cube | $6 = Fabulous! Reminded me of the 5-spice sole filet at Grand Shanghai Express in St. Paul. Crispy edges, pillowy tofu inside with incredible salt and chili flavor but no sauce - didn't need it. Lotus Root Salad | $8 = Fabulous! Shredded lotus root was pickeled and reminded me a little of celery. It was very fresh tasting. Seafood Hotpot | $18 = Almost fabulous. Clear chicken broth infused with wonderful shiitake flavor. Filled with lots of vegetables (too many compared to seafood.) but veggies were perfectly cooked, still crunchy but fully cooked -- yum! Overall we thought the food was fabulous, the service was good, the atmosphere was hip without being too trendy. Aside from the bland spring rolls, it was great. read more

I'm glad I finally made it to Jasmine 26. I had already made friends with the Deli and I was finally getting to meet her classier younger sister. The clean space alone makes dinner that much more enjoyable. The dark red decor and tall ceilings would lend themselves well to chatty groups and intimate dates alike. Not too loud, which is quickly becoming a pet peeve of mine. First things first, I LOVED the salt + pepper tofu. It made me wish that I could cook tofu so incredibly crunchy and tantalizing that Hubby wouldn't complain even a tiny bit if I made him eat it. Dang. It jiggled around on a plate with small hot peppers. It danced in my tummy. It reached for the stars. Other food I was impressed with: mock duck eggplant (heavy on the mock duck, not too much eggplant but that's not a complaint), red snapper ceviche with tiny taco-like shells, basil pad see yew. Just OK: sweet potato shrimp toast (lack of flavor...and do i eat the tail shells or spit them out?), cream cheese wontons (were good but the dipping sauce was very runny and didn't stick so I couldn't taste it at all), som tam papaya salad (my all time favorite Thai food and this one was uncrunchy, and bland--lacking that fresh bite that i love), cahn chua hot pot (nice broth, nice veg, nothing amazing). I guess when it comes to Vietnamese food and fusion I like things with strong flavors and Jasmine 26 did an amazing job with their Thai-inspired dishes but their menu as a whole focuses more on milder comfort food. read more

This place has great modern Asian decor, the location is fantastic (super convenient to post-dinner activities), the service is wonderful. They're very attentive and accommodating. They also have a great division of the restaurant - one side is more sit-down, the other side is the bar, but it doesn't feel separated. But I was sorely disappointed with the food. The food here is more Vietnamese fusion in a way, it's a more modern take on traditional Vietnamese food. I've had my fair share of hole in the wall Vietnamese food and this was a fancified version of that, except to the point where I may not really recognize the food anymore. We ordered the egg rolls to start, which were good but not much different from the other Vietnamese restaurants in the city. We also ordered the fried tilapia and the pork belly rice dishes. They were both a bit disappointing. The fried tilapia was well fried, but the sauce was too sweet and the veggies just didn't add much to the dish. The pork belly in the bowl was tender, but it didn't have much fat, and wasn't that appetizing considering it was just chunks of meat on top of rice. The whole dish just seemed off... the flavors weren't really there, it was dry, just a strange dish overall. If the meat had come shredded already or if it was cut in a different way, it would've delivered on expectations, but this was a far cry from what I was thinking when I read pork belly. I was SUPER excited to try their boba cocktails but ended up they ran out of the mango one! And considering the priciness of their food/drinks, decided against it. All in all, this place was okay. I have to go back once a month to visit my buddy Vin behind the bar. After he teases us about where we've been (bad food? smelly owner? cheating on him?), we get right down to business. The Happy Hour menu. The ginger fizz cocktail is worth ordering (if you like ginger, obviously). The owner is worth visiting all by himself. He always remembers my man's order (because he essentially creates the same weird dish every time), and the HH menu is just an extremely good deal. 26 has been open now for a bit, but they just had there "Grand Opening" last weekend (4/19). They expanded there menu with even more delicious appetizers, soups, some noodle selections and more. So far I say the soups totally win, the sea salt and pepper tofu rules (I won't go there without getting some, they make the tofu themselves), Jasmine crepe, the hot pots are good but better if you are dinning Family style because they are simple and would be good in combination with other things. The worst thing I had on the menu was a fried rice. It was gross. As for there cocktails, the Ginger Fizz is soooo refreshing and their signature mojito is pretty damn tasty too. This place is awesome. Their fried tofu is sublime. My wife and I have come to 26 just to sit at the bar, sip some wine or beer and chow down on 2 or 3 orders of the fried tofu. Their Pad Thai is great, their green and red curries are tremendous. I take my family here about every 2 months, and my boys (9, 11 and 13) really dig it. Uhhh...what happened here? I stopped in for a quick happy hour drink/snack the other night, having not been in for 3 years. Now, I remember liking it 3 years ago- good drink list, great food. We sat at the bar and it was very dirty- stuff all over the place. We ordered our drinks, a plum wine and a hot sake and they were priced around $3 at happy hour, which was great. Asked to see a food menu and he brings me a ratty paper menu with- no joke, 8 of the ten items scratched out. All that was left were egg rolls and cream cheese wontons. WHAT? I'm actually confused. A formative and influential, though hardly top-tier boyfriend of mine and I stumbled into Jasmine 26 today after our trip to Little Tijauana went astray since it is temporarily shut down for renovations. Boy how surprised were we! It was empty because it was 4 but the service was prompt and friendly. The spring rolls were very tasty and were even cut into fours so that you didn't have to bite into them awkwardly and made it convenient for dipping. I had the Basil Noodles and it was DELICIOUS! He had the Pad Thai and we both cleaned our plates. As far as Vietnamese is concerned this place was the bees knees and I fully intend to go back. Ugh I used to love this place. Came here for my 30th birthday and it was a disaster. There were 2 other tables in the whole place but we waited 10 minutes for WATER! Then someone finally served us who did not know the menu. We just wanted drinks and dessert but somehow that took another 20 for 6 Drinks! Oh have I mentioned our server was wasted. Absolutely drunk. Offering us other people's food. Spilling things. It was terrible. I'm sad to say I'll probably never go back. After: they offered to pay for our bill. We had one more round after that and they fought with us about how we weren't showing respect. Mind you we had paid them in cash way more as a tip them we would have after their drunk server offered us random things. We finally left agreeing to disagree. I'll never go back there. First time visit based on Yelp reviews. I was kind of shocked that the place was empty at 7:00 on a Friday... My first thought was that Yelp let me down... But I was wrong. Coconut wontons. Great place for French inspired Vietnamese food. Subtle flavors, great service, quiet, cozy space, wonderful owners. One of my favorite places in Minneapolis, having been here many many times with many guests. No one I've taken has ever been disappointed. It's fine. The food is fine. Heavy on the sugar - for example, the green curry is waaaaay too sweet for a green curry. Also, noodle dishes are very light on the vegetables, so it's your basic sticky-sweet-carbtastic Thai food without much nuance. The value proposition is low. Again, the ingredients are cheap and the portions aren't huge, but you're still paying 13-16/plate, which is a lot for some sugary rice noodles with chewy tofu, a whiff of broccoli, and a few sprouts. Service is friendly but slow. When they made a mistake on our order - bringing us two of the SAME dish instead of the two separate dishes we'd ordered, they apologized but didn't take much responsibility. When they brought out the full-price check for the erroneous order and I expressed surprise, they said I should have complained more to make them change the order. I hadn't asked for a new plate because I hate wasting food - and because I'd already spent 40 minutes waiting for food in a nearly-empty restaurant. My server told me that her pay would be docked if they comped me for the mistake, which put me in a bad position. Who wants to be guilted into spending $16 for food she didn't even order?! The space is beautiful but the business seems to be on its last legs. They're clearly cutting corners on the food costs, the employees don't seem to be getting treated very well, and the resulting troubles are being foisted onto customers. I've had the vegetarian mock duck and tofu omelet entree twice. I enjoyed it so much the first time, I went for it again the second time around. There are a few other tasty looking vegetarian dishes on the menu. The prices are okay and the drink list is pretty long. Service - Our waiter simply heard my chopsticks drop on the floor and immediately brought me a new pair. Now that's service. read more
