Came here for Annie's coronation and it's still brilliant. The Vietnamese Ceviche was wonderful, just spicy enough so your mouth tingles but not too overwhelming that you can't taste the fish. The highlight for me was the shaken beef. It's just cubes of beef stir fried with garlic, onion and pepper and yet it's the best beef dish I've had for years. The beef was delicious. I am going to have to come back to this place again because right now this 5 star rating is based on drinks and service only. I stopped in here after a Mexican lunch at Pancho Villa. I had two margaritas there but felt they had been pretty weak so I decided to stop in Jasmine for a drink because I had read on Yelp that they had cocktail specials during the day. Vincent was my bartender and he was awesome. Chatted us up made a few suggestions and definitely made me want to come back to check out the food. I tried the Ginger fizz which is a ginger infused vodka along with their house ginger ale. Very yummy! My friend tried the Pomp Bomb (?) which was a martini bursting with pomegranate flavor. I would definitely order both again especially since they are only $5 dollars during the day. Their website provides their whole happy hour menu so check it out! 1. Not super delicious, but it's good looking food. The food here isn't exactly the best, but the restaurant tried hard to make it look tasty and enticing. Order a pho bowl and you will probably just get a medium sized bowl with probably enough to fill yourself for lunch. It's not the best, but they sure make it look and taste good... 2. Opens late. So one of the reasons why this place is my favorite hotspot is mostly because this place opens late. It's obviously catering to the people who are out going bar hopping, because this place sure does serve alcohol... and it's some pretty legit drinks too. Regardless of what hour of the day, the staff in this restaurant still treats you like a normal person and doesn't act stingy like most other locations do when it comes to the drinking hours. 3. Attentive staff. When coming from California and into Minnesota, I thought to myself that the food and type of people would be different. Assumably, Minnesota would have food that is downgraded compared to California, and that it's so far in quality difference, that even the staff would treat you down... Welps, I was wrong, and this staff is probably one of the best I've ever seen... even compared to California places. For the past two years or so I've been going to Jasmine 26 for my Vietnamese comfort food... actually I not only go here when I'm in the mood for take out or solo meals but bring friends and family when they visit very often as well. Despite the upscale decor the prices are very reasonable (the same as I'd expect from lower tier viet/thai restaurants) and the food has always been great. If you go, be sure to talk to the owner Vin, who can almost always be found behind the bar working on new drink recipies. Tell him what kind of drinks you like and he's wonderful for making off the cuff drinks that taste great! Bonus - if you like green tea ask him to make you a pot with his special ginger mix - it's fabulous! read more

My wife and I had the strangest experience here the other day. We previously ordered take out pho a few weeks ago and it was fine - I appreciate the flavorful broth. We often get pho from another establishment down the road, which is always busy, but thought we would give this place a try. We picked up our food around 5pm on a Sunday but the place was empty. The guy (seemed like a manager or owner, maybe) got into some verbal altercation about pen hoarding. It was weird, uncomfortable and will prevent us from returning. We went at an odd time on Mother's Day and the place was nearly empty. Our server was delightful. We gave him a little bit of info on what we like and then he made a bunch of suggestions. We took him up on all of his suggestions and he did not steer us wrong! I absolutely love when the server knows enough about the menu to make us all happy. Called to order take out and was put on hold for 5 minutes and then was unable to get back through. Stopped in and waited over 45 minutes for two orders of soup and an appetizer. The only server in the entire restaurant (bless her heart) was more than helpful and an absolute sweetheart but the chefs or something must have been severely understaffed. A few staff members kept coming out of the kitchen to watch the football game that was being shown, so I wasn't sure what that was about. The server scribbled me a "$10 off next order" coupon on the back of a business card but I am not sure if I would be honored as she said something along the lines of "I am not in charge here but will talk to the managers about what happened." This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities, and I feel like it's so underrated! My favorite dishes are (all are vegan or can be made vegan): veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce, veggie egg rolls, salt & pepper tofu, and the red curry (get with tofu instead of duck). The curry has just the right amount of spice, and the sweet potatoes are an awesome addition. Jasmine 26's tofu is done perfectly. It's just the right texture - best tofu in the city, I have to say, whether you get it in the spring rolls, the salt & pepper tofu, or in the curry - all amazing. For dessert they have a great sticky rice thing with mango & coconut milk. Slightly sweet, and so yummy. Every night after 9:30 (including weekends!) they have half priced wine and cheap appetizers. We go there a lot on weekends for some late night grub. What I love second best about this place (after the food, that is), is the atmosphere. It's not easy to find a more upscale Vietnamese place, and this place is just that. The modern interior, and great service make it worth paying a little more than usual for Vietnamese food. Outrageously good food! Vin was behind the bar and walked my wife and I through a tasting of the Sea Salt & Pepper Tofu, the Crepe, and the Red Curry with Roasted Duck...all fantastic. Highly recommended alternative to other more recognizable names in the same area. Have to note that Surly Furious was on tap, a great local selection that pairs well with their food. Given how good the reviews for Jasmine 26 are, I expected the place to be busier. When we walked in around 7:00 there was only one table with people at it (two if you count the table the workers were sitting around.) I am a huge tofu fan so I got the salt & pepper tofu based on Yelp reviews. It was good, but I didn't love it by any means. The lemongrass noodle salad was very good, light with perfectly cooked veggies. The prices are very reasonable, especially given how enormous the servings are. The S&P tofu could really be an entree, not an appetizer (and when they make it with shrimp instead of tofu it is served as an entree. The dishes are otherwise exactly the same.) I liked it. We went to Jasmine 26 last night for a wonderful friend's 30th birthday. Our server was very polite and attentive, and even gave the birthday girl a free drink. The place was surprisingly empty for a Thursday night, we almost had the whole place to ourselves (which was probably a good thing since we were a rather loud group). We ordered a bunch of appetizers, but I only tried the Hue Spring Rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, these had an interesting flavor, I think it was from the mint. They almost had a licorice taste, which was slightly off putting. Some people commented that the shrimp on top tasted fishy. I can't speak for the egg rolls or cream cheese wontons, but they seemed like a bigger hit with the table. For dinner, I ordered the basil noodles with chicken and it was excellent. The flavor was great, and I really liked the texture of the wide noodles. It could have used a bit more chicken and vegetables, but other than that, this dish is definitely a winner and probably big enough for two to share if you aren't too hungry or if you order an appetizer. My husband had the lemongrass ribs, and really enjoyed them. All in all, everyone at our table seemed to really like their food. read more

The new restaurant by the family who runs the Jasmine Deli is a swanky, low-lit room with simple decor. Clean, straight lines create a pleasantly upscale feeling. The music is hip and quiet, and the noise level is low (although it was barely half full on the Saturday night when I went). The best parts of the menu are the cocktails (definitely recommend their yummy $7 cocktails over the ho-hum wines by the glass) and the appetizers (many of which are also available at the Jasmine Deli - but no drinks there!) The peanut curry with roast duck is very good, but the pho is so-so - a little bland without that savory freshness that can make pho so good. I like to sit by the window and watch the traffic on 26th. On weekend nights you might be able to spy on the wedding receptions going down across the street at the private dining room in the Black Forest Inn. Service is friendly, welcoming, and a little bit slow. The tables are well-spaced to allow meals to feel intimate. The bar looks nice - a little weird that they have a TV, but I guess everyone does these days. I'd go back - I want to try the crepes. They looked delicious! read more

I'm giving Jasmine a three, only because I see room for improvement. I had a couple dishes--the salt and pepper tofu appetizer, and the basil noodles--and was completely underwhelmed by both. To make matters worse, the prices are on the high side, especially for lunch. But there's so much more I need to try. I dragged my brother here, who's not big into ethnic food (Vietnamese, Thai, Indian? Forget it!). To their credit, he absolutely loved the fried calamari. The staff (owner?) was very friendly, gracious in recommending options. The interior had that upscale, lounge feel (e.g., modern decor, loud music). But we were also the only ones dining in at the time, which made it a bit odd. I would've loved to have been able to stop into their sister restaurant nearby, Jasmine Deli, but I don't believe they're open on Monday. A deli sounds more my style. read more

Jasmine 26 is a swanky little gem. Quang is my resident spot for Viet food, but I'd heard great things about Jas so finally decided to check out their happy hour. Atmosphere was lovely with a nice bar, dim lighting, and cute decor. A bit questionable that the place was close to empty on a Friday night. Service was great - our waiter was very attentive and everything came out quickly. The bf and I started with drinks - I ordered the Ginger Fizz and he the Pom Bomb. If you're a fan of ginger get the Ginger Fizz - house made ginger ale and ginger vodka served with fresh ginger - YUM! Both drinks were deliciously strong too :) Next came the coconut cream cheese wontons and they were the bomb.com as stated in previous reviews - perfectly crisp, gooey, and sweet. We ordered the Lemongrass Noodle Salad, Sriracha Chicken Fried Rice, and Chicken Wings as mains. The noodle salad was diff from what I'm used to - noodles sauteed with mushrooms and veggies with lettuce, carrots, cilantro, and dressing on the side. It was tasty, but it would have been more refreshing if it was served cold. I can't speak to the rice and wings bc of Lent but the bf was pleased. Helloooo Happy Hour!!! Jasmine 26 delivers like no other! Their happy hour menu is basically a condensed dinner menu, not one of those lame appetizer/small dish only happy hour menus... You can get an entire bowl of delicious beef/meatball pho for around $5, I mean c'mon. You know you're about ready to get in your car and go. Plus, they have entrees for $7 or $8, try the sriracha fried rice, you'll like it, I swear! If this hasn't sold you thus far, their drink menu is pretty solid too! Ginger ale drinks, Asian beers, and a pretty extensive wine list, all at discounted prices for happy hour. Plus, the whole place is just adorable. Nicely decorated, dimly lit, a few TV's...definitely a slightly upscale feel while still remaining comfortable. The service is great, always really attentive, friendly, and helpful. I loved the 3 pepper sauces they bring with the pho (along with the basil), and their pho is really quite excellent! The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is that I don't think I would ever go here during normal business hours...I'll be back for happy hour, but would probably never pay full price for their food. read more

Went here for the first time on a Friday night around 6:30 with 2 of my girlfriends. Surprisingly there were never more than 4 other tables for the 2 hours we were there. The ambiance was nice, bar area was kind of dark and hidden in the back. Our waitress seemed a little awkward every time she came to the table but took our drink/food orders in a timely manner. I ordered the bahn khot appetizer (mini pancakes with shrimp, veggies) and the beef pho. Both were quite tasty, the bahn khot came with lettuce, mint leaves, cucumber and carrot slices so you could eat them as a wrap or just use the dipping sauce. Definitely something I would order again. The pho was good, but not the best I've had.. My friends got the pad Thai and stickers which they enjoyed as well. I keep saying that if there were ever a 24 hour pho place to open in the twin cities, it would be epic. I digress... We stopped in here after a local friend recommended this late night spot. It is a trendy neighborhood with a sizable amount of other restaurants and bars nearby! We stopped for a drink and an appetizer before going to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. What a nice place! It has a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and we were warmly greeted as we entered. I asked for a nice local beer, in between light and very dark. I was given a very nice beer which I enjoyed. We ordered two appetizers. The pork egg rolls: traditional vietnamese egg roll with shredded taro, carrots, cellophane noodles, ground pork wrapped in a thin, crispy wheat wrap. They were very nice - light flakey and not greasy at all. The house sauce was light and tasty. We also ordered the Tiger Shrimp, shrimp coated in pounded sticky rice flakes and fried to a crisp. Eat street sets a high bar for Vietnamese food, and Jasmine 26 just doesn't quite clear it. Staff was friendly enough, but our avocado spring roll perplexingly took a good 10 minutes longer than our soups (which didn't come too fast themselves). We got many apologies but no explanation, and the rolls weren't too great to boot. Tom Ka was as tasty as anywhere (yum); Vietnamese hot pot made me wish I was eating Tom Yum or Pho, as it was somewhere between the two and not as good as either. Spice level and flavor were underwhelming, and for a higher price point and fancier ambience than the typical Vietnamese spot on Eat Street (not to mention a hop skip from amazing Malaysian/pan-Asian), I would have expected to be more whelmed. I recently dined at J 26 with my boyfriend. Between the 2 of us, we ordered (and finished): fried tofu beef pho vegetarian pho fresh shrimp spring rolls shrimp lettuce rolls The pho has a strong anise flavor which sets it apart from the other pho in the area. It definitely needed to be flavored with the condiment tray though. The tofu was amazing with a great garlic and spice flavor in the outer crispy layer and would have been more amazing if it wasn't overly salty. My bf really enjoyed his spring rolls, which are small enough in diameter that they fit in your mouth perfectly. I prefer to have more herbs and lettuce in my spring rolls; these were basically noodles and shrimp. The accompanying peanut sauce tasted mostly like peanut butter; I prefer a more homemade tasting peanut sauce. Same criticism with the lettuce rolls; would have enjoyed more herbs and less noodles. And shrimp that isn't dried out and obviously pre-frozen. I will go back but I will order something different next time. Except the fried tofu and all of its crispy deliciousness. read more

On a visit to "Eat Street" last week, rather than our usual stop, Azia, we went across Nicollet to Jasmine 26 and were happy with the ambiance and the food, especially the appetizers. Also, the refreshing iced tea, which is jasmine of course, is really fragrant and almost blossoms in your mouth. The menu offers appetizers under two headings, "fresh" and "crispy." The fresh spring rolls, with choice of mock-duck, tofu or veggies, have a hint of mint and are served with a very good peanut sauce for dipping. Crispy appetizers include excellent salt and pepper tofu cubes that were not only crisp, but had an extra element of textural goodness supplied by a thin coating of shaved sea salt. The veggie eggrolls with tofu are hearty with shredded taro and cellophane noodles and served with a traditional Vietnamese dipping sauce. The coconut cream cheese wontons with a pineapple dipping sauce are a nice variation on the usual. The grilled shrimp coconut milk noodle salad was a great combination of textures and flavors -- creamy coconut with tangy vinaigrette, and slippery rice noodles with crunchy veggies. Pad Thai (made with no egg) was good, not great, and a little vinegary. The basil noodles (hold the egg and add tofu) were good but could have used more spice and more basil. And there were way too many green peppers (the only food I don't like) when the menu didn't even list green pepper as an ingredient. The menu has an extensive list of unique salads ($7-$8) with ingredients such as banana blossom, green papaya and lotus root. They offer numerous noodle dishes, soups, fried rice, curries and hot pots, mostly in the $10 to $15 range. The happy hour menu is very affordable and available every day from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 9:30 p.m. to close. Offerings are select appetizers and soups for $4.50 and entrees for $6.95 or $7.95. The atmosphere at Jasmine 26 is sleek and contemporary with polished concrete floors and granite tables. I love Vietnamese cuisine and Jasmine 26 definitely lived up to my expectations. The food was fantastic. The service was pretty mediocre and the final bill was crazy. Three beers for me, three drinks for my date, plus our own dinners was $95!! I was blown away. We didn't get anything outrageously expensive but the final bill will make it so that I can't afford to come back here again. Otherwise, I would definitely come back, though I must mention one other thing: The food, while absolutely delicious was not very "authentic." As a vegan, I'm in a perpetual search for accommodating Asian restaurants. This place nails it. First, they know what 'vegan' means. Second, there isn't fish sauce premixed in everything. Seriously. This place does not serve authentic Vietnamese food (although why some reviewers seem surprised by this is baffling, did they previously think 'Vietnamese pad thai' was a thing?), but it does serve very delicious food with Asian flavoring. They're heavy on the vegetables, so there isn't a worry you'll end up with just sauce and rice noodles on a plate. I highly recommend the mock duck spring rolls. If you're out for more than food, this place is also great. They have a pleasantly large and good beer selection, all at reasonable prices. These prices get really good during Happy Hour, it's hard to find a Surly Furious for $3 anywhere else. They also have some fun cocktails. None of them are artisan Manhattans or anything, but they're tasty and fun. I like the Pom Bomb and the cumber drink is refreshing. The ambiance is a little... odd. It's clearly family run, so the staff is a hodgepodge of who's available. Sometimes, there are cute kids playing in the booth seating. Still, it somehow works. I don't think it's a 'cool' as they were going for, but it's still nice and the setting feels private regardless of the size of your party. read more

I've tried coming to this place quite a few times now. Unfortunately, every time I come here, I always tell myself not to come back. The food is really bland. I ordered my favorite Vietnamese soup, Bun Bo Hue, and they pretty much made Pho, put some oil and lemongrass in, and called it Bun Bo Hue. They even put Pho meat in there instead of Bun Bo Hue meat, which is an important aspect of the dish. If you don't know anything about Vietnamese food and spices, then they could probably trick you into thinking it's okay to serve up these dishes. read more

Definitely still 5 stars after eating an actual dinner here last night! I'd give more stars if I could. Instead of a cocktail this time, I had a glass of Syrah, which was reallllly good. Between the four of us, we shared the Jasmine Crepe (vegetarian style), two bowls of the Vegetarian Pho, and Spicy Eggplant (with the addition of fried tofu). For apps, we had the Vegetarian Egg Rolls (which are actually vegan, remember) & the Salt & Pepper Tofu. Goddamn, this food is soooo good. Everything was amazing, and I especially loved the Pho. The broth was SO flavorful, and the vegetables, mock duck & tofu tasted so fresh. Bonus: Our server, who was the same one as last time, remembered our names! (I went back with the same friend & my boyfriend, plus the addition of one more.) We'd only been here one time like three weeks ago, so I couldn't believe he remembered all our names.
