This is a father and son construction firm and they are very serious about quality, the concrete had some challenges, they needed to remove our old sidewalk and update the area with new materials and improve our drainage system, there were several challenges along the way and everything was always explained very clearly to us, and options were presented without feeling like we were being forced to pick something. When I agreed to sign the contract, Angel came over to view the work area and gave a proposed start and end date over a 3 day span. I appreciated Angel's communication when his current project pushed mine a week behind schedule. No biggie.. On day one Angel came with one crew member and they worked diligently in the heat. They had a rough area to work with consisting of hard dirt and overgrown weeds, but that was no issue for them. They also had to move one of my drain catches with no issues. They got all the framing and base done for the concrete pour the following day. On the third day, Angel and his crew removed the framing and installed decorative rock and cleaned up the work area very well. I have several other concrete projects in mind and won't hesitate contacting Angel to get the job done!

It was a little challenging for them because a third party that involves 2 people (2 more sets of opinions and questions) was dealing with the financial aspect of the job. It made it more work for RJF, but they took it in stride and were very helpful in meeting the requirements (such as having to reword the contract multiple times the day before the job was scheduled to start), and answering the endless list of questions for the third party. Highly professional even when it was, I'm sure, challenging. The third party actually called me after the job wrapped up to tell me how impressed they were with the company. High praise! What I appreciated from the owner was his excellent communication with me, the third party, his crew and his office. The left hand always knew what the right hand was doing. I'd never had concrete work done, and he did a great job of letting me know what to expect for the duration of the job and after. They are extremely punctual, which I appreciate because nobody likes to sit around waiting. His crew works hard whether he's there or not. They were clean, picked up after themselves, polite, & accommodating. I've had contractors not come to the job site once, but he always had his eye on what was going on whether he was there or not, and he'd pick up a shovel and get busy if needed. It was very hot, and he had an ice chest of water for the crew. Those are the little details that signify to me a person is running things well & cares. Robert was really helpful in helping me select what would function best for my situation, which is appreciated because there's a lot to consider. And I had no idea. It was a relief to have a contractor that's trustworthy and didn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge. And also what is the most pleasing from an aesthetic point, because it's important that it drains correctly but I want it to be pretty, too! They went above and beyond, letting me know when they came across some work that wasn't done correctly from prior owners. It wasn't their problem, and they could have easily not brought it to my attention and I would have not known until it became a big expensive problem. They got the job done very efficiently, which was great because we didn't have to live in a construction zone for any longer than was necessary. It was such a smooth experience, from the bid to the final touches. I can't tell you how grateful I am for Robert and his entire crew for making what could potentially be a high stress endeavor a pleasant and smooth one. They ruined and broke numerous branches while admitting that these plants are very delicate. They rushed the job that should have been at least two hours and finished in one hour. You never tell someone that's paying you $500 dollars to take your time and do a professional job to go inside. I should have told him to get the F off of my property and hired someone else. I would have been better off hiring men from Home Depot. Totally unprofessional, rushed the job, ruined a couple of plants and didn't give a shit how it looked, even after I showed the owner the damaged plants and all the broken branches only to find more as the branches dried out in the weeks to come. He tells me the plants are delicate, but yet they didn't treat them that way. I will never hire this unprofessional company again and recommend that you don't hire them either. They have plenty of help to do a good job, but refuse to do so. This was a total rip off job to the tune of $500. I'm so sorry I hired this clown to do this job, every time I look at what they did it makes me sick and pissed that I didn't throw them off my property and paid them nothing. Foundation Repair of CA (FRC) is the most disreputable, dishonest company I've ever encountered. I…read morehired them because I didn't want to hire the lowest bidder for a change, and I regret it. I wouldn't sign the contract when told I'd have to do my own masonry repair until sales agent Jesse Marquez showed me FRC corporate material that indicated the brick facade would be removed with a masonry saw, in an approximate 2x2' square. That was false and deceptive advertising. This is what they did to my house. No masonry saw was used, only impact drills, which act as small jackhammers. FRC significantly damaged the entire brick facade, adjacent areas showed extensive cracking, entire areas had the brick facade knocked completely off the house, and the wall foundation was separated from the brick wall entirely. I told the work crew, headed by Luis, to stop using impact wrenches on the bricks immediately, then told them TWICE. Not only did they not stop, despite direct STOP work orders, they then took all of the bricks they'd destroyed, which legally is theft, called conveyance. Jesse Marquez explained that the bricks were so old they'd shattered. Luis returned the bricks after Jesse Marquez called, ignoring my several phone calls and texts. Jesse texted that the bricks were so old they'd shattered. Luis returned them, none were shattered, all were broken by the impact drills. Luis confirmed, texting that the bricks were "broken". They took the bricks to hide the damage. The day FRC received my Contractor's State Licensing Board complaint, FRC messaged that someone would come to assess the damage for repairs, and FRC would repair the masonry they'd destroyed. They first sent Robert Pagan, who acknowledged both that there were no masonry saw marks, and that the damage was excessive. According to FRC, Jesse stated Robert hadn't said this. It wasn't until I pointed out he'd said it while standing in front of a Ring camera did that lie die. FRC then sent Troy Knight, who acknowledged the same, and stated he was there to help, and would see that the masonry was repaired and more. I have several texts, voicemails and emails from FRC stating they will complete the job. They never did. FRC employee Mike Crites was sent to perform the repairs. He returned the following week with the wrong sized bricks in the wrong color, and proceeded to do more damage. This is the work that they did. FRC employee Mike Crites initially stated that he had retired as a mason, he later revised that statement, saying he'd only worked with pavers and concrete. The work performed was so substandard, FRC sent Jovincio, who was the only honest person in my entire dealings with FRC. Jovencio said he wasn't a mason, but had "some training". Jovencio replaced the work done by Mike Crites. This is Mike's effort, and Jovincio's replacement work. The work performed is clearly substandard and unacceptable. FRC acknowledged the workers sent lacked the skills, training and necessary certifications to perform masonry repairs. When I requested that FRC send a mason, and included photos of the work, FRC responded that they'd done me a favor; the workers sent were a courtesy. The very clause they'd ignored (and invalidated) by removing the bricks was cited. That they would do no more, leaving me with the bill for their damage. This is what they left. I obtained a second quote to repair the deficient masonry 'work' FRC workers had done - without a REQUIRED permit, with no mortar pins, odd-sized and broken bricks mortared in randomly, mortar lines that range from non-existent to more than an inch. Crites' also removed the brick facade foundation in several sections, replacing it with sloppy concrete. This is a code-violating 'repair' that is neither plumb nor square. The legitimate mason company from whom I obtained a repair quote updated the quote, which has nearly doubled BECAUSE of the 'repairs' performed by the unqualified FRC employees. FRC called this doing me a favor, saying the inept crew was sent as a 'courtesy'. This is not doing me a favor, this is not a courtesy, this is at best fraud. After signing the contract (under false pretenses), Jesse insisted I needed an additional pier ($3,155) because piers can no longer be placed under a window. A pier was placed under the window. Two other piers were not placed according to the county approved structural engineering ($1,850) diagram. Half the piers were installed in the wrong places, apparently according to Luis' whims. Yesterday Groundworks gave an estimate on properly placing those piers. That's how I learned that the improperly placed piers had lifted a joist completely off its foundation supports. This, too, will require additional expense to correct, before it damages my house - literally to the roof. I should have stuck with Groundworks. This is your cautionary tale - no one who values integrity, ESPECIALLY senior women, shouldn't hire FRC.

The reason for the 3-star review, however, is that since the repair, my garage door no longer closes properly when my EV charging cable is underneath the door -- something that worked without any issue before the spring replacement. It's been less than a month since the repair, and because of this problem, I haven't been able to reliably charge my vehicle overnight in the garage. When I reached out to ask about the issue, I was told there would be an additional charge just for him to come inspect it. I understand the warranty may only apply to the spring itself, but it's frustrating when the door functioned properly before the repair and now it doesn't. Overall, the repair work itself was solid, but I was disappointed with the response and follow-up regarding this concern.

Daniel Sr. and his son Daniel, were at my house within two days of my initial phone contact to evaluate the job. They provided me a proposal within days. I subsequently enlarged the scope of the project, and they made several more visits over the next two weeks. The project consisted of two stamped concrete patios, two stamped concrete aprons, a stamped concrete walkway, 135' of fence footing, and one propane tank pad. Once finalized a start date was scheduled. Though there was a slight delay, they kept me apprised of the situation, and the work commenced as rescheduled. I was particularly impressed with their work as they formed the pour. It's that time when a trade skill and art meet. For example, the two Daniels formed and reformed a walkway ramp with stairs several times over the course of a day before they were satisfied, transforming the mundane to aesthetically pleasing. They were attentive to my concerns regarding drainage and slope, and provided suggestions as work proceeded. At all times during the project, they sought approval as various forms were set in the yard. The core crew are all family members which I believe instills pride in their work. The stamped concrete came out great, and they returned after a month and some sunshine to seal the concrete. In addition to the quality work it was gratifying to do business with a local business.

It took some persistence to get back in touch with Gerardo, but once communication re‑opened, he genuinely stepped up. He sent someone out to address every issue I had documented: they cut the landscape fabric away from the tree trunks, moved the drip emitters about two feet out where the roots actually take up water, and corrected the garden bed irrigation so the plants receive proper coverage for square‑foot gardening. During the inspection, we discovered that the old sprinkler lines had never been fully shut off when the drip system was installed - something that explained the constant water running down the street. Once Gerardo returned, he fixed the problem by cutting off the water supply to the old sprinklers entirely. The front‑yard drip system now works exactly as it should, and the weed fabric is no longer suffocating my mature trees. I truly appreciate that he honored his 1‑year warranty and resolved the issues thoroughly. Nowhere in the quote did it state payment was due immediately upon completion (industry standard is typically Net 30 days), but I felt rushed and complied. It is highly unprofessional that he can hustle so aggressively to collect my money, but goes completely radio silent when his work fails 2-3 weeks later. Textbook Root Flare Suffocation: The crew failed basic landscaping best practices on my mature trees, which have sensitive root crowns. They pulled the landscape fabric tightly against the tree trunks and piled 4 inches of mulch over it, trapping rot-inducing moisture directly against the wood. Worse, they placed the drip emitters directly on top of the trunks instead of out at the drip line where the trees actually drink water. The trees are now being over-watered at the trunk and under-watered at the roots at the same time--classic textbook signs of crown and root flare suffocation. Last week the leaves on my persimmion tree were looking wilty, this week the leaves have fallen and the remaining leaves on the tree are crispy on the tree. It's the fastest way to kill a mature fruit tree, and mine are now actively dying because of this setup. Walking Back Promises on Garden Beds: Gerardo, the owner, ran irrigation lines to my garden beds and explicitly promised that once I had them set up, he would return to adjust the lines properly. Right now, for each garden bed, there are just 4 thin drip lines watering 4 single spots, which is useless for a square-foot gardening setup that requires full coverage. Now that he has my money, he changed his tune, saying 'that's just how it is' and blaming material costs instead of honoring his word to adjust it. Neglected Irrigation Leaks: I believe I have leak in the front yard since it has been sending water running down the street for a full week now, plus a leaking backyard manifold. I've also sent him pictures of the water running down the street 6 days ago. Zero Commitment: I have been texting Gerardo photos of the dying trees and the leaking lines for a week. He refuses to give me a committed date to come by and inspect his own work under his warranty. I want to give this business a great final score, but a warranty is only as good as the contractor's word. I am waiting for Gerardo to honor his 1-year warranty and fix these issues this week. I will update this review to reflect his professionalism once the job is actually made right.

My Driveway & my entry way to the backyard turned out absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Since I recently had pavers installed for my walkway, I didn't go with stamped concrete as I thought it would be too busy & wanted my new pavers to stand-out. Simplicity can still work out to be really pretty so I had 2-tone very-light "brushed-broom", with smooth border designs - The design & color choices bring out my new pavers perfectly! I had no doubt it would turn out really nice but never imagined a simple design would look so stunning! AND, the quality of work is far above what I expected! Joe (the owner), is a real perfectionist in his profession, and takes a lot of pride in his work. Really knows his stuff, and he came every day to make sure the job was going well. Before starting he met with me to discuss the process, and throughout the install he made sure I understood what they were doing, and made sure he had my approval before he finalized the border design. Any concerns or questions he never failed to respond - could not have asked for a nicer person to work with. His working crew is another story! They were Amazing! Not only hard workers, but meticulous in all aspects of their work. Before pouring the concrete they covered the garage door & other doors - the cleanup at the end of the day was impeccable! Just finished my job today & he starts another neighbors this week - we both are so lucky to have found him ... When it comes to quality plus & customer service, EFS has it all! He sent me a text and said he was sorry, so we rescheduled for the next day. He came out, was very nice, and said he'd email me an estimate that night. I never got it. I waited a few days, and sent him a text saying I never received it. I figured maybe he had my wrong email? I never heard back. So a few days later, I called him, and he again said he was sorry, that he was really busy and he'd send it that night. Again, no estimate. Finally, a few days ago, I called him again. I said hey I'd really like to work with you, but I still don't have an estimate and I'm going to have to go with someone else if I don't hear from you. He again, assured me I'd have it THAT night. Shocker- no estimate. I checked my spam email also. So, sorry Joe, you lost my business, and future business, as I had some larger jobs I was considering at a later date.

They worked with care, professionalism, humor and had good communication throughout. They kept our property as clean as they could during the entire job. Ismael and Isabel cut, dug and leveled all the areas. They have their own equipment and it's amazing to see just two people handle such a large job. He supervised the concrete walk install as he subcontracted this work out. In the middle of digging, they encountered a concrete slab from an old garage and driveway. It was not part of the bid to remove, so Ismael provided us with various options, pros/cons for what should be done and the costs. The most cost efficient option was to keep the slab removing all of the loose concrete and level with additional asphalt. Of the 3000 SQFT of grading he did, there is a slight puddle that occurs during the rain between the concrete and asphalt area. The water clears quickly though. Pretty amazing considering the slope of our driveway. I would enthusiastically hire them again!
