I wish I read more of the reviews before we went in. We were on our way to the crafty crab and decided to try this place instead for comparison. The parking lot was absolutely empty, and we thought they were closed. That should've been our first sign. There were only two other people in there eating when we arrived and we ended up sitting not far from them. My friend and I both ordered different steam bags. The special garlic butter??? Probably one of the nastiest tasting things I've ever tasted. And of course since everything was cooked in it, everything tasted like it. It is sweet!! Garlic shouldn't be sweet. Very bizarre flavor combination. Everything was overcooked. The shrimp was like rubber, so was the sausage, and the hard boiled eggs could've been used as bouncy balls for children. Neither one of us even ate half of our meals. At some point, someone else came to our table and asked us how we liked it. We were honest and said we didn't care for the sauce. She offered to bring us something else to try. Whatever else she brought, also with some sort of special sauce, tasted like dish water and rosemary. Before we got our food, I was inquiring about happy hour. The server said "yes we have one." I had to pull answers out of him. They should be promoting something like that not having to check for answers. The one positive thing that I can say is that everyone that worked there was very friendly and very nice. Treated myself to dinner 2 days ago. I will not be returning. The worst boil bag I've ever had. That will be the first and the last $82 I will be giving Jason's Crab House. If they don't get it together, I'm sure they will not be there long. I should have known it wasn't good when I pulled up in the parking lot and it was empty. Do not order the garlic butter sauce. This place just opened about three weeks ago and I went here for my birthday dinner. Not only were the prices incredibly good, The portions were insane as well. The seafood tasted insanely fresh and although we had a party of 10 people, the wait was not long at all. I wish I remembered my waitresses name because she did amazing. We had everything right and on time and she even gave me a birthday shot and a complementary side dish. I would definitely recommend this place. I typically go to crafty crab for my crab legs in this area, but I definitely might have a change of preference in where I go from now on because of how good this experience was! read more

I was so excited to have a crab place closer than the 80 minute round trip to Captain Pells. We got crabs from here to kick off the summer and they were not good. They lacked seasoning and flavor. I dumped a can of old bay on them and still ate them. Fast forward to the end of summer, I ordered from here (again not wanting to make the 80 minute trip to Pells). I asked for the crabs to be extra seasoned. When I arrived to pick up my order, I inspected the crabs before I paid. They were not seasoned. I told the owner/manager I did not want them and they didn't look good. His reaction was surprising to me, it was as if he knew they weren't good crabs. My husband and I visited for the first time and had a great experience. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. So I would probably give this a 4 for the area. My partner would rate it lower so I gave a 3 to be in between. We got 3 lbs of crab legs, hush puppies, sausage, corn, and potatoes. My crab was nicely cooked. My partner got the same sauce etc and his crab was stuck to the shell every set of legs. When the server asked multiple times how the food was I mentioned my husbands crab was really stuck to the shell ie overcooked. I'm not sure he understood he sort of just giggled awkwardly and said sorry. The corn was strange. Maybe over boiled? We were split on the hush puppies. It was a nice large spacious place. No wait for seating. I realllly want to like them a lot and be able to come back. It's a very convenient location. I could even see the potential for entertainment like trivia live music etc to bring people in. The bar had TVs if people are into sports. Very very small critique the paper towels on the table are hard to rip while your gloves are on. Even a bar for paper towel to spin on might help and keep the top hygenic. We did see 1 ant on the table/paper towel. I know it's the season for ants but I was a little put off. Positive they give you claw crackers without being requested. Was out of dungeness crab legs, the vinegar bottles had some weird substance in it, it was hella empty which is usually a sign that the food is not going to be good but, we went in anyways. That was the wrong decision. Our server was nice but that's about it. We both got the crab boil bags to which in comparison to other places that offer crab boil, this one missed the mark BIG TIME! I stopped by Jason's Crab House last night and had such a good experience I HAD to leave a review. Our bartender, RJ, was honestly the highlight of our visit. He was super attentive without being annoying, and he actually knew the whole menu like the back of his hand, from the drinks to the seafood specials, the food was good too, needs a little more sauce and seasoning sometimes but still good. I told him I wanted something refreshing but still strong and he mixed up the perfect drink on the first try. My friend ordered something completely different and he nailed that too. The vibes were great, service was quick, and you can tell he really cares about making sure his customers are taken care of. If you're planning to stop by, definitely sit at the bar and ask for RJ. Bummer! We were excited to have a Crab House in Springfield, VA, but this is not it :( No wait was good (?), not really, there were only about 5 tables occupied. Menu is very limited! Major issue were the salt shakers; they wouldn't shake salt. So we twisted (forced) the lid off, to find gross nasty crap in the lid, we showed it to our server, he brought us another one, even nastier, I showed the gross crap I got our if the lid (cap 3) to the employee who came by to see if we were happy, so they brought us another salt shakers. I guess they wiped this one out. Final note was that our server came to clear our table while we were still there! Unbelievable! Not a good seafood spot. It's a shame because the area lacks good seafood. They were clearly overwhelmed as a new restaurant so I gave them two stars rather than one. Service: Slow and disorganized. It took a while for them to realize we were seated, then didn't get menus. It took forever to take our drink orders and he had to be reminded twice that two drinks didn't come out. He was nice and understood we weren't happy. Food: Mid at best. I can't tell you how the crab legs tasted because mine came out cold and I sent it back. The lobster roll generic packaged lobster bits. The mixed seafood we had had tough shrimp in it swimming in a "medium" spice sauce that was too spicy. The fish and chips was edible and had a good portion, although it not memorable. Atmosphere: This place was a Fridays. It looks like a fridays with ocean stuff on the walls. Glad we looked at the reviews before entering this restaurant. The parking lot was empty which I thought was odd based on the Google reviews. My husband ordered two items to go while we waited in the car and general area. It was extremely slow service and not sure they had enough staff working at the time even though the parking lot was empty. We did a taste test on the crab legs and shrimp with the lemon butter flavor. We also ordered the wings and calamari. Everything tasted like McDonald's quality, greasy food. We were close to ordering a crab cake but was told they didn't have any. Kinda glad that wasn't available since the menu stated the crab cake came with a thousand island salad dressing? To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I would give 0 stars if I could. I came on a Saturday evening at 6 PM for the AYCE blue crab, got seated, ordered oysters and a round of blue crab. They came out with our oysters and then told us soon after that they were out of blue crab.... I find it wildly irresponsible for a business who promotes ayce to not be keeping track of their inventory. I understand unexpectedly being out of inventory for a new business, but they should've been keeping track of how much crab they had left so they can tell people AT THE DOOR if they're out of blue crab. Why was it not until we sat down, ordered, and started eating that we were told they were out of ayce crab?? We ended up just paying for the oysters and leaving (the oysters were just okay btw), but I feel like we should've gotten the oysters for free or a voucher for the inconvenience; it feels like they were just trying to get some money out of us at that point. The crabs were both mushy and over cooked. The menu seems to have identity crisis (Korean blue crab fusion??) as it has crabs and mussels but also sides of boiled eggs and rice, also has several fish options which given the size of menu and emptiness of restaurant makes me suspicious that many items are frozen not fresh. Like other reviews the waiter came by at least 3 times trying to clear our table while we were eating. I do try to support local business but this place is deffo not as good as Capt Jacks. Also when I asked for a dessert menu I was told "we don't have one yet." Most of the 5 star reviews seem to be from people who have only reviewed this one place. Went in and ordered Maryland Crab Soup which was mediocre at best . Wasn't even served with crackers. Tried to order a crab cake sandwich but was told by the bartender they were out of crab meat so they couldn't make any today. Then I tried to order a chicken breast sandwich and was told that they were out of chicken breast and they were using chicken tenders on the sandwich. Asked if the calamari was fresh and was told by the bartender that it was , so I ordered but was definitely a frozen product . Overall very disappointed. It no wonder the place was empty . read more

Recently opened, so with a little bit of repetition this place could be a 5. Ambiance and customer service was a 5. Great interior, big bar area and if they had sports on the TVs would/will be a great spot to watch a game. We had the mussels, awesome, crab legs, great, flounder sandwich - ok.
