This rating is on the service not the quality of food. I was so sad today when my co-worker and I placed an online order to be picked up. I used to work at this same restaurant, before they even opened the doors (while waiting for my current job) and I thought it was such a well organized, efficient place. I am sorry to say I have not dined here for years. Today my order (consisting of 1/4 muffolatta, a Panini and cup of soup, online order was placed at 11:35, I arrived for pick up at 12:08 and didn't leave there with my order until 12:30. I asked the young lady who was helping me, to tell me which part of the order took so long to make because I certainly did not want to order it again and she said these sandwiches required grilling and only one grill was working. Ordered a pastrami sandwich and got nickel and dimed to death. Paid extra for cheese, paid extra for avocado and paid extra for the bacon. A colleague took me to Jason's Deli back in February of 2013. It was my first time. For a few weeks after that, I was at Jason's Deli regularly! For those of you that do not know Jason's Deli features sandwiches, soups, salads, a salad bar and desserts among other things. Many of their items are organic. Since February I have tried their Nutty Mixed up salad, salad bar, french onion soup, Mediterranean wrap, Wild Salmon-wich, beefeater, turkey breast muffaletta, chocolate chip cookie and strawberry shortcake.The establishment sells lighter portions for most of their sandwiches and if available I have chosen the named size. The lighter portion, is in my opinion quite filling and more than enough. Each time, I have eaten here the ingredients have been fresh and delicious. The Nutty Mixed up salad is my absolute favorite with its chicken, greens, feta and fruits. My favorite sandwhich thus far is the beefeater. Its your typical roast beef sandwhich with au jus but the freshness of the meat and bread is fantastic, i hold the mayo and cheese so as to not take away from the flavor of the meat. I found the wild salmon-wich to be the most unique and loved by many of the people I have brought with me. I, personally am not a big fish sandwich kind of girl. The Mediterranean wrap was my least favorite. I simply did not find it to be anything special. The french onion soup was decent. The Muffaletta was a little heavy for me. As for desserts the strawberry shortcakes is now one of my favorite desserts and the chocolate chip cookie is to die for as its always baked to perfection. Another thing interesting about Jason's Deli is that they have free ice cream and other free items (mini gingerbread and cornbread muffins to name a couple) near the salad bar, which I thought was super cool. I like love the gingerbread muffins! Another freebie they sometimes offer is a free cookie if you fill out a survey! The items at this establishment can add up in cost but the quality of the food makes them worth it. One negative attribute is that their foods, even in lighter portions tend to be super high in calories, which is why I rated them less than five stars. However, they do have the salad bar option which is nice. Service is great, staff are always smiling. Overall a solid spot and I definitely recommend it to soup, salad and sandwich lovers everywhere! read more

I've been hearing about Jason's Deli ever since I was in college in Richmond so I knew it was finally time to stop in. We arrived on a weekday during lunch and it was paaaacked. My husband stood in line while my daughter and I grabbed a table and she played on my iPhone for the 20 minutes it took to order and get our food. Thank the lord for toddler apps. Once we got our food, it was really worth the wait. I ordered the spinach veggie wrap with a side of fruit, my husband got the southwest wrap with a side of fruit, and my daughter got the kids meal of turkey and cheese sandwich, apple slices and milk. The fruit came with this awesome tangy yogurt sauce that was a nice touch to add and my daughter loved her "dippy" with her apple slices. Both wraps also came with a nice salsa. Being our first time there, the whole ordering system is a bit confusing. There are 3 separate lines going: one for dine in, one for take out (that is actually in a separate room), and one for the salad bar, which is self-serve and you can go up to and pay for without service. Also, the full menu is not listed at all. There is a sample menu of "local favorites" up on the board but it's up to you to pick up a hard copy menu hanging on the wall and quickly figure out what you want while you wait in line. I don't like that. Give me a menu on a board and be done with it. Fortunately I am an exceptional planner and had already picked out my sammich online ahead of time. Another thing we didnt know was that pretty much everything on the salad bar is free I think, particularly the muffins and cornbread. DO NOT MISS THE FREE GINGERBREAD MUFFINS. I put like 10 in my purse and just had them for breakfast. The soft servce icecream is also free, which is a really cool treat after a nice, healthy lunch. Ate at Jason's Deli today, and ordered the salad bar. Mostly the salad was fresh and not too many bad pieces of lettuce or baby spinach. Choices of toppings have decreased since the last time I came. Tables and chairs were dirty and as we walked out, we had to step over food and toothpicks and such. Dining area needs more attention. I have to update my review ...after going back to Jason's Deli and spoke to the manager about my concerns, the staff has worked harder at keeping the dining room clean and it has been much better the last 3 times we recently went, so I am increasing my ratings. read more

Ate here a month or so ago but I'm just getting around to posting this. I got a sandwich and the salad bar as I have in the past when I have eaten at other Jason's deli's. the salad bar looked a little fresh and well stocked then I remember, the sandwich was very tasty. However, being a glutton a heart I was very excited about the ice cream and was very disappointed. It tasted like knock off ice cream sandwich filling instead of delicious soft serve or frozen yogurt, whichever they typically use. I threw it away after the second spoonful confirmed how terrible the first was. There are two things I think about when I think Jason's deli and they are the amazing salad bar and ice cream with lunch! I am a child at heart. But I won't try this location again. All my experiences at Jason's Deli have been good. I always get the same items. The manager's special 1/2 The New York Yankee and broccoli cheese soup. My past experience on July 31, 2019 was no different as far as the food is concerned. The one star is for the events that occurred after my meal. I was sitting in the restaurant and had just sat down with my complimentary ice cream cone when all of a sudden water is all on me. My arms, legs, back, hair and my purse and it's contents are all covered in water. It appears that a overhead ceiling tile fell and water just rushed out, from condensation from the air conditioner I can only assume. I felt awful. I was covered in water from my head to my toes. The manager came over and apologized and gave me towels to dry myself off. He said that me would comp my meal and he apologized. He asked me to write my statement and that he would follow up with me in a few days. It's been more than two weeks and I haven't received a call nor email. I've told this story to friends and family members. Their comments range from file a lawsuit to go back and check to see if repairs were made to they should've at least called and checked on you. I will not go back to Jason's Deli. I will say that I am disappointed that I never received a phone call, I thought I at least desired that for the disruption of my day. read more

Hubby and I love coming here for lunch! It's quick, and simple.The salad bar here is Amazing! Fresh! Clean! Yummy! They have everything u can think of on the salad bar, whole boil eggs, artichoke, beets, hummus, etc. it's endless. If u ever get a bake potato here, just know that they are huge!! I mean HUGE! The sandwiches n soups are delicious too. I just prefer the amazing salad bar that is constantly being restock. And once your done with lunch, u can grab yourself an ice cream cone to go. Me and my family have been eating at this location for about three months.We decided to head over for an early lunch one Saturday. After placing our order we sat down and waited, and waited, and waited for our three sandwiches. For a grand total of forty minutes........for three sandwiches. , We noticed around ten folks working on a catering order before we ordered and by God that was the entire staffs priority (we knew this from where we were seated). It was only when I stood up to ask for a refund the manager told us the order was almost ready. Ten minutes later, we got our food. My wife's turkey and cheese had four paper thin slices of turkey and my reuben sandwich was ALL sauerkraut with very little meat. My son's grilled cheese was good but, it's a grilled cheese for pete's sake. The manager fixed my wife's sandwich by putting more meat on it. But, I was too hungry to care about mine. We will never eat here again, between them forgetting our order and the skimping of the meats. I highly recommend avoiding this place. read more

My wife and I decided on Jason's Deli because I was craving a Rueben sandwich. She told me that she hadn't been to Jason's in years. We we walked in, she began to do her usual menu gaze and eternal contemplation of what to order. I had already settled on the half sandwich and salad combo while she was audibly talking herself out of one meal into another. She finally settled on the managers special with steamed veggies and and a side salad. We both admitted that we overdid it on the salads. Not that we packed them to capacity, but that we didn't make them the healthiest salads in the restaurant. Needless to say, we made them to be good. My wife was very pleased with the freshness of her steamed veggies. I could tell that they were good by the dark colors coming from her bowl. I ran and got her some melted butter from the prep area to totally set her veggies off. By the time she finished the veggies and salad, she had to get the sandwich to go. I wolfed down my salad, BBQ chips and half a Rueben. I loved every bite. I will definitely be back. But we couldn't just leave without making a couple of soft serve ice cream cones. Gut BOMB! I made TWO with some chocolate drizzle on top. LOVED IT! read more

My food was very good and I had lots of it to eat. The potatoes are HUGE and delicious !!! The prices are a bit high but you get lots for what you pay. This was the first time I went there in person and I thought it was great experience and quick. The people there was very welcoming and great to talk with. The moment that I walked in I felt welcome to go in. The cashier who took my order was extremely friendly and was easy to talk to. She was very helpful when I was ordering since this was my first time being in Jason's Deli. Their takeout service was amazingly quick for being extremely busy during the late lunch rush. I was able to quickly order my food and my food was ready for pick up within a few minutes from order my food. The food itself was amazing and very filling for the price that I paid for. The corn beef sandwich was amazing and large to what i thought it was. Another thing that was great about my sandwich was how i was able to add tomato and other things and make it taste great without sliding out of my sandwich. The shocking part of the whole experience was how high quality the corn beef was and the amount that I got for the price I paid for. Overall I was very pleased with my experience at this location. My colleague and I decided to go here to get salads, it was my first time here. The line was almost by the door, the salad you can order and pay from a kiosk. No line necessary. The touch screen in the kiosk froze so I had to wait to get assistance. Finally someone came to help and my card had to be swiped at the register. I proceeded to the salad bar and filled my container. Took it back to work & ate. A little over an hour later I became violently ill. Sharp stabbing pains in the stomach and I began to sweat. Went to the bathroom and had a bad case of the runs. After staying in the restroom for 20 mins, I felt a little better. Then again an awful feeling came over me. So i had to call it a day. When I got home the assault continued on my intestinal system. After using the bathroom again now the salad began to leave me from up top. As I heaved up all the spinach, fixings and dressing only then did I began to get real relief. Never again will I ever eat out of this place. Who would've ever guessed that some as safe and healthy as a salad would end up making feel like I was poisoned and going to die. Oh yeah, my colleague also got sick. So it wasn't just me! I had visited this location for the first time when a co-worker wanted to take me and another co-worker to lunch. When we first walked in, there are convenient paper menus sitting by the door so you can view the menu as you wait in line. It seems that there are more items listed on the paper menu than on the menu boards when you get to the register, that was a little confusing. There wasn't a specific location to return the paper menus once you got up to the register, we kind of just had to lay them on the counter near the register in a somewhat orderly fashion. I ordered one of their half sandwich and soup specials ~ the salmon sandwich and tortilla soup; this also came with a choice of side so I chose the fruit. We were guided along the line and a staff member handed my co-workers trays with plates for their salads. Apparently, since mine did not come with a salad but it did come with a soup, though I was not given a tray nor my soup ahead of time. This was strange, but they did tell us that they would bring the remaining food out to us. We sat ourselves at a table along the wall. The seats along the wall are similar to the booth seating; the seats were very uncomfortable and felt like I was sitting in a bucket, I didn't know whether to sit all the way back or to sit on the edge of the seat, there was no in between or comfortable way to sit in these seats. We waited 20 minutes before the rest of our food arrived. My friends had already finished their salads by this time. The unfortunate thing was ~ my sandwich came out but my soup did not make it out with my sandwich. I ended up walking to the counter to ask for my soup then maneuver back to my table between the maze of tables and other working staff in the dining area, hoping that no one would bump into me. This was awkward. The tortilla soup is good ~ but very spicy (nose-running spicy). My salmon sandwich was delicious and so was the black current tea that they offer (with free refills). We tried this deli on Coliseum because it was closer than the one we usually frequent on Jefferson. Never again, I will just make the drive the next time. The lady who was budding tables left the trash can next to our table as we were eating. We pushed it to the side, she apologized and proceeded to bang every plate clean alongside our table for the rest of our meal. What's worse, I think the lady with the long blond hair who sat in the booth opposite of us was the manager, and didn't even address the noise.
