One of the best well known Deli's around. Always fresh food, served warm or cold. The location is always busy but the wait is not bad. They have a pick up station for call in orders, a waiting area for to=go orders and plenty of seating for eating in. I love the roast beef sandwichs with auju but they don't give you enough. And when in Rome....so I got the signature "Reuben the Great". Very good meat and they do not skimp on the portions. The have a "lighter portion" option on the menu because of this. Oh, and the sauerkraut was crisp, not soggy. One ding though, I am not sure if it's the dressing but the bread got a little soggy near the end and started to fall apart. Delivery took an hour, don't know who to place blame on for that one. What infuriated me is the $7.25 'bowl of fresh fruit' that I paid for which turned out to be 10 strawberries (one rotted) and a handful of grapes on top of a bed of lettuce... what an absolute joke. Went here today for the first time because of all the great reviews I've read, not sure if I went at a bad time, but I had place a online order for it to be ready when I arrived since I had 2 kiddos with me didn't wanna wait to long, said my order would be ready 15 min after placing it. Got there at the time it gave me and still had to wait 35 min, I mean I didn't order nothing big or time consuming it was just a salad and a baked potato. My potato was missing some items it said it came with, I paid 5+ to get a salmon fillet with my salad and extra ranch for my salad and a side of bread. I didn't get the salmon or any dressing at all to go with the salad or the bread, now I won't be able to eat salad until I get home, I tried calling multiple times but didn't get an answer, I couldn't get off anymore cause of the kids. I was able to see staff seemed a bit stressed maybe cause of how much orders and people where going in, so that's why I didn't even check my order there before leaving the place. but I mean baked potato was pretty good, I'm sure it would have been great if it had the missing cheddar. I don't think I would be going back if all these items were missing and the long wait !! read more

While the food is still good, the portions have become minuscule. When one used to buy a Reuben, one would get over 2 inches thick of meat, there was less than 1 inch. My wife got the salad bar and liked it. She got the roasted tortilla soup and said that it was spicy for her palate. read more

We went here on Friday early evening on our way up to DC. I was initially worried about how the food would be since it was fairly empty and looked a bit on the shady side. BUT...the Hubs and I both ordered the AYCE salad bar with a protein (he with smoke turkey & I with grilled chicken). The veggies on the bar were ridiculously fresh and gorgeous. The quality really impressed me. Our daughter got the CA Club...but it was a bit heavy-handed with the mayo. Our son got the hot dog & apples...except they were out of apples and substituted it with some lovely strawberries. The free ice cream was a nice end to our meal. We left stuffed but in a good way. We're excited to try the locations down here in the Southside and hope they offer the same quality as we found in Hampton! read more

I just moved to Virginia for the first time, and being that I am from California I had never been to a Jason's deli before. It was a little confusing when I came in; I didn't know where to order my food, so I ended up asking the person who worked the Togo side of the restaurant and she was very snappy with me. I told her I had never been there before and she hurried me to the main line side. I didn't realize the menus were on the side to order, but finally ordering the food was pretty good. Managers Special starts at $7.59, unless you want to pick one of the good sandwiches (add $1). Uh oh, you want a salad instead of chips with that? Add another $1. So, i consider this and panera in the same category, except, Jason's deli is cooler! I didnt know JD was a chain until i saw one in texas and that got me super excited because there is a possiblity that if i do move away from VA, ill find a JD somewhere! My favortie thing about this place is the salad bar -- extensive and very reasonably priced. They have a great selection of sandwiches- always made fresh and able to please every palate- whether you're a hardcore meat eater- beef, ham, turkey and chicken , or veggie! Its the only place i know if that makes VEGGIE FRENCH ONION SOUP that tastes EXACTLY like regular french onion! It's great and they use veg broth to make it vs beef broth! They have southwest chicken chili, and other appetizing soups that panera doesn't have. Oh , also, ginger, corn muffins and garlic bread are complimentary even if you don't get salad by the bar. Great place and staff are always nice, helping out! Also, the way it works is that you go there , wait in line, place your order and you get a number place holder. Sit and chat with your company and wait while your order is brought to you. I've never waited more than 7 minutes for my order. Fresh, reasonably priced lunch place! What does a girl have to do to get a HOT panini in this joint?? I've been to this Jason's Deli 3 times and when it comes to paninis, I do not think it means what they think it means. I really like the smokey jack panini (turkey, cheese, avocado, bacon, tomato, and russian dressing); however, I always ask for it to be heated all the way through... and it never is. Last time, it was just room temperature. Fortunately, the sandwich is still delicious and I usually take half home and it is still delicious reheated (or should I say, actually heated). But when one says "panini," everything on the inside should be warmed through and the cheese melted. This never happens. So for as much as I harped on that, I do like Jason's Deli otherwise. I got a to go baked potato order for my brother, and it looked great. The price was great. The service, from the order takers to the busboy is truly the star here. Would be first time customer. Worst customer service okay. I Walked in and wasn't greeted, but alright that's fine, then I approached the register and the lady was on the phone. We go here at least Twice a month for lunch. Everything is always fresh and good. The sandwiches are huge. I love the pastrami and salad bar. They have some menu items that are less than 400 calories. And the service? Top notch! I hope the employees get more than minimum wage because they are always friendly and upbeat. Expensive with only moderately decent food. Panera for example is similarly priced but tastes better. Unfortunately for me panera doesn't deliver in my area, Jason's does. So it's nice when you want to be lazy and don't care about spending a bit. That said I've almost always regretted the decision, a month later I will stupidly forget that regret and try again. My favorite was when I ordered a sandwich today, this was what was delivered. It's literally three ingredients, salami, lettuce, pepper jack. Today I had somewhere I had to be but I was hungry and I was in the Coliseum area so I decided to stop and get a Reuben. First I was met by excellent customer service young girl named Kat, she promptly took my order. When I asked her instead of chips could I get slices of avocado she said 'not a problem' she was excellent very pleasant she has to be the pride and joy of Jason's Deli! Because you 'simply couldn't ask for a better employee'. My food was done in a timely manner and when I get home I sampled the potato which of course is very good and my Ruben which was excellent. There was not too much sauce that made the bread soggy & there was not too much sauerkraut this Reuben was perfectly done!! Got a pleasant surprise when one of the doctor's bought me breakfast from Panera bread. I had a turkey sausage egg and I think cheese on a croissant which was not slathered in grease like the ones I usually get from other fast foods. The fruit cup was nice fresh crunchy chilled fruit. I did not receive my order. I placed it at 8 o'clock and I called the store a little bit before 10. After several attempts to get somebody to answer, a girl finally did. She could not have been more rude, belligerent or bigoted. She talked down to me as if I am some stupid senior citizen who doesn't know which way is up. I asked for her name and order number and she refused to give either. I asked to speak to her manager and she said the manager was busy. When I tried to get my order information she kept talking faster and faster and louder and louder and I could not get a word in edgewise. I don't know who was on the closing shift on 30 August 2020 but she should be fired and never be hired in any sort of customer service job again.When I asked her again to please put the manager on, she hung up on me. In Hampton Roads for work and saw there is a Jason's Deli close to where I'm staying. Since this is one of my favorite "go-to" restaurants when traveling, I decided to stop in for dinner. The staff was friendly, the place was very clean and the food was good. I got the "manager's special" which is any half sandwich and a trip to their salad bar. The salad bar was stocked and everything was fresh and my half sandwich...the Papa Joe (Roasted turkey breast, Asiago, roasted tomatoes, fresh basil pesto, mayo, toasted on herb focaccia bread) arrived quickly and the waiter who delivered it was SO polite and friendly! Some of the line staff are disgusting. We watched one employee with gloves on stuff roast beef in his mouth and then proceed to make people's sandwiches while wearing the same gloves.
