First time trying Jason's Deli for lunch. I got the Reuben sandwich, however the menu was pretty big and diverse from soups, pasta, wraps, and sandwiches. There's also a salad bar and ice cream on cones. The service was prompt and polite during some of their busy hours for lunch. The deli was a lot bigger inside than I thought it would be as well. For what it is, Jason's Deli is pretty good. Not quite a deli, it's a consistent fast casual version of a deli. Today I ordered what I typically order, a potato. I don't know what monster farm the potatoes come from, but they are HUGE! You can easily get two meals out of one potato. And they are generous with the toppings. Today I also ordered a deluxe BLT. That's not what it is called, but it's a BLT with avocado and an egg on it. Sounded amazing. It was good. I don't know that I'll order it again, but I think it's a decent sandwich... Okay, let me just start by saying that this sandwich was INSANE. I'm talking the kind of big and tasty that's straight out of a Scooby-Doo episode. I tried the Ranchero Wrap here! I didn't have the ranch or jalapeños but enjoyed my meal overall. I also added lettuce and tomatoes. My cashier seemed a bit impatient with my adjustments. The menu said it came with blue corn tortilla chips and salsa but I was given ruffles, the woman who brought the meal said I needed to ask specifically for it, which didn't make sense because the menu explicitly said it came with the chips and salsa. When I asked for it, she too seemed bothered. The saving grace from the staff was the gentleman who cleared our plates. He was incredibly kind. Overall my meal was tasty and I left full and content. We went in and the salad bar was a mess. There were a LOT of crumbs /food under the pizza stove where the pizzas were placed on the rack and went thru the oven. It seems it has been a long time since it was cleaned. The bins that hold the food were messy looking, like the food had been in it a long time, just nasty. Glass dividers were dirty. We walked around the restaurant before getting in line to place our order, and after seeing the place, we left without dining. The Good: My better half and I have been have been frequent customers of Jason's Deli since 2021. Visiting as often as 3-4 times a week as we are avid salad eaters and Jason's has a great salad bar with fresh ingridients. Their biggest Highlight in my opinion is their ranch dressing which is made in-house. At that time, their employees and managers were friendly and accomodating.The place was always clean and the employees would speak to us upon arrival. It had gotten to a point where they would remember our faces and what we usually ordered (2 salad bars to go) and have it rung up and ready at the counter. It was never an issue to ask for someone to restock an item/items on the salad bar if they ran out due to being busy that day or just in general. Someone would always come over and take care of it right away. One employee stood out the most, who is now a shift manager, John. John would make it a point to speak to us and ask our well-being no matter where he was in the restaurant. Possessing leadship and team-work qualities, John would make sure that his fellow employees were well trained and had what they needed to get customers served in a timely fashion. I can't say enough great things about him and he is everything our young people lack working in establishments like this today. The Bad: As time passed, Jason's began to lose quite a bit of their good employees as well as managers. What started out as us visiting quite a bit, quickly dwindled to less than twice a week. The place (busy or not) slowly began to look a mess and our employee experience as we knew it, quickly dried up. We were now being met with attitude should we ask for anything to be replaced on the salad bar or anything additional for that matter. When asked what the issue was, I would be told they are "short staffed". During our most recent visit, this past Wednesday, the manager on shift was their managing partner, Flynn Nall. Upon arrival, I did my usual stroll past the salad bar to see if I needed to ask for anything to be restocked as I have had to ask for this quite a bit as of late. As expected, the salad bar was a mess and half of the ingredients on it was either completely gone or less than halfway there. Mind you, during the weekdays, they are not as busy as the weekends therefore, you would think there would be no excuse. We stood in line, the cashier that day appeared to be new and in training, no issue there. The issue starts when I asked the young lady if she could see if someone would restock the bar. She proceeds to walk over to the gentlemen in the lobby who's bussing tables ask him to restock the bar. I was a little taken aback because A) usually, the person bussing is never asked to come away from that and restock the bar and B) usually, they aren't trained in that direction. The gentlement stopped what he was doing, walked over and replaced his gloves (without washing his hands) and proceeded to restock the bar. While this is going on, Mr. Nall is walking around giving out orders, instead of helping his team. His buss guy was now restocking the bar unsanitarily and he was fully aware as he walked over before he got started, giving him more things to do. The gentlemen might've added 2-3 items to the bar and stopped when there was still more than half of a bar to restock. He proceeded to grab his broom and went back to what he was doing in the lobby. When you go from where we came from in 2021 to now this, I had had enough. After being a frequent paying customer in a establishment that we very much enjoyed in the beginning, an executive decision had to be made. I walked over to the register and asked to be refunded my purchase. The young lady working the register excused herself and walked over to retreive Mr. Nall. The demeanor of Mr. Nall was very cavalier as he approach the register to issue my refund. There was no attempt to resolve my issue, only a half-assed apology in which in the process, he wouldn't look me in the eyes. I asked if he was the guy on the picture by the door as it looked like him and he said yes. I asked as the managing partner of this establishment, are you ok with all of this? with a slight roll of his eyes, in a borderline indignant manner, he proceeds to tell me that his employees are doing what they are supposed to do. I then pointed out that the gentlemen who was appointed to restock the bar is now sweeping the floor. Mr Nall proceeds to walk away from the counter muttering something under his breath in the direction of the gentlemen sweeping. As to not make a scene, I grabbed my receipt off the counter and walked out the door. This day was a very sad day as we were forced to give up a place that we have enjoyed for the past 3 years. Spite everything, Mr. Nall, you sir alone is why we will NEVER again patronized your business with our hard-earned money. Your actions as a leader and a managing partner was less than disappointing. If managers act this way, so will employees. read more

We were passing through town, and when we travel we typically eat at Jason's Deli so we can get salad. This particular restaurant was a mess! I've never seen this at a JD. The salad bar was dirty- so we opted for cooked food. The floor needed a sweeping, the drink station was messy. There were only 4 tables with customers and 13 tables left with dirty plates. THIRTEEN! We saw 2 employees go to the bathroom with their aprons on and their plastic gloves. This location really needs to be thoroughly cleaned! Didn't expect the declining service industry to hit a Jason's Deli so hard. Entered on a Friday at 8pm, saw four people eating and six people "working." Waited 7 minutes to order at the empty counter. Waited 10 minutes for a sandwich, 10 more minutes for the other sandwich, and had to go back to the counter to remind them about a cup of soup. All while four employees chatted and walked around scrolling on their phones. This is why giving a tip before service is rendered (which I foolishly did) is such a ridiculous concept. read more

Jasons has a very varied menu, with vegetarian options. The salad bar must be the best in town. Everything you can imagine and some that you wouldn't. They have curbside pickup and a drive through. Dined in at Jason's for the first time last night. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting such a good meal. First off, the space is huge! They can probably fit 150 people for dinner. The cashier gave me a few suggestions, but I ended up going with the Manager's Half-Sandwich Special. I ordered the "New York Yankee" mainly because it was called the New York Yankee (sometimes my biases get in the way, too). But this sandwich was loaded with hot corned beef and pastrami, Swiss cheese, all on toasted rye. The fattiness from the meats shined through, while the crisp rye provided the meat with a place to rest. Besides the cheese having nearly no flavor, this was an excellent sandwich. The special comes with a cup of soup, so I ordered the organic vegetable. Tender veggies in a tomatoey broth was fitting for a cool evening. The sweetness from the corn was delicious. But that's not all. You're allowed to get ice cream with your purchase...for free! Granted, it wasn't the greatest vanilla/chocolate swirl of my life, but that's still pretty freakin' cool. My boyfriend and I walked into this deli not expecting much but then we were greeted by Kyndal and we were immediately engaged and knew everything we needed to know about the menu. She went above and beyond what you typically expect from a customer service representative and we will be going back many more times as long as Kyndal is the one we get to speak with! if she isn't running the place, she should be. This place is right around the corner from us and we eat here at least twice a week. During the pandemic, we continued to patronize this business faithfully utilizing their drive drive up window and order ahead. Although the food is not mind blowing by any means, we feel we can get a relatively healthy, light dinner and not go too far from home. During the pandemic, we expect and were understanding that mistakes would be made. However, now that they are open and functional again, there really is no excuse for the marked decline in attention to preparing food and ingredients used. The latest example, and what will be our last time eating here, was a to go order. I opted for their BLT and we marked everywhere online NO MAYO. When we got our order home, it looked like whoever made my sandwich went out of their way to add extra mayo. Even if mayonnaise is your favorite condiment of all time, how anyone could stomach this much is beyond me. As I pulled the sandwich apart to see what I could salvage, I saw the world's smallest, saddest tomato, and what could easily pass as a plastic egg...it was so rubbery even McDonalds eggs put this egg to shame in terms of quality. While my boyfriend waited for me to toast my own bread from our pantry and fry my own freaking egg and slice and my own damn avocado and use our own flippin lettuce and make a NEW sandwich, he hit the roof when he saw the tomato that they passed as sufficient in a sandwich we paid $8 for whose main ingredients consist of TOMATOES. (See picture.) He was so mad he called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. He explained the no mayo blah blah and the pitiful tomato - to which the manager replied - one tomato slice and one lettuce leaf is all they put on a BLT. It was all excuses and no apologies. No apologies for screwing up the order. Nothing. So in the end, I paid for bacon, had to use my own stuff to remake my dinner, and still had to wash dishes (dang it!). We won't be back. We've been putting up with subpar food and service for far too long because of convenience but it's time to move on. read more

Update: 8/5/19 - late lunch - 2:30 pm - what a difference the visit time makes! There was only one other customer in the place. We were able to take our time and ask questions about menu items and order our selections. I was worried that the salad bar would be "wilty" since it was between meal times but nope - it was still as fresh as it is during the quick turn over and restocking we experience at noon! I'm not really into rating restaurant chains. My firm belief is you already know what you're going to get with them so why review 'em. You been to one McDonald's, you've been to them all. Well, the only reasons I'm going to rate Jason's Deli are because 1. There's only one in town and 2. I've never been to one prior to living in Tallahassee so here goes. I've never actually stepped foot inSIDE Jason's Deli. My job has a monthly promotion for its employees where 5 workers get 5 free lunches from here. I've won twice which means I've had ten lunches so I can say I've sampled them enough to leave a fair and honest review and to be honest, their food is decent. Nothing spectacular about it to me. Some items have been great.....some have been average but only one item I tasted wasn't enjoyable which happened to be a pot roast baked potato they're now offering. I wasn't a fan of the garlic horseradish sauce. The Texas Style Spud potato was amazing though. Their Chicken Alfredo Pasta was good as well but there are much better versions located at some of the local, non-chain restaurants around town. If you wanna go to Jason's Deli then hey.......be my guest! For myself though, I love the plethora of residential food establishments Tallahassee has. It may not be the biggest city but eating at a place like Jason's Deli makes me appreciate all of the hard work the local business owners put into their product that much more. read more
