First of all, this place feels like a NYC-style eatery in the best way. The artwork is beautiful, and the blue-green color scheme makes it a really nice space to sit and enjoy your food. They also offer a 5% discount if you pay in cash, which is a nice bonus. I got "The Hummer," which has turkey, feta, black olives, tomato, onion, and lettuce on rye-pumpernickel with mayonnaise and house dressing. It was so good. The bread was SUPER YUMMY and looked beautiful too (if you care about aesthetics). All the flavors blended together really well without anything overpowering, and it had this refreshing quality to it that made it stand out. I would definitely order it again. My partner got "The Sauté," which is turkey with Parmesan, Cheddar, Swiss, and a mix of sautéed onions, peppers, and mushrooms on a warm poppy seed roll, plus lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and house dressing. The roll was good and it was very flavorful but is was the combination of the veggies, turkey, and melted cheeses gave it a lot of depth. Everything tasted fresh. I got a combo with Mrs. Vickie's salt and vinegar chips, which is always a good sign. And the sweet tea--wow. It wasn't overly sweet, but what really stood out was the flavor. You could actually taste the tea, with slightly minty, earthy notes that made it feel really well done. That's rare. Overall, for what this place is, it deserves all stars. I have been going to your restaurant since you opened your first store on Monroe St. Yesterday I visited your store on Monroe street in the publix shopping center. I ordered a cobb salad. There was so much GORGONZOL CHESSE , I couldn't taste anything else on the salad. It was busy so I waited for someone to help me. Finally the cashier ask me what was wrong. I explain the problem and she threw the menu down the counter and said you should have read the menu. I love that cheese and had no problem with the taste , but it was too much. Then the manager came out and asked me what the problem was. I once again explain my problem again. He said let me pick the cheese off. I was mortified. I asked for a new salad. I arrived about 3:30 and ordered a meatloaf sandwich with no sprouts and with mayo. It was delicious I especially like the Parmesan sauce on it. I also ordered chili which they said was mild. We walked in at 3:20, ordered sandwiches, and instead of treating us like paying customers, the staff packed our food to go and told us we couldn't eat inside because they "close at 4." Meanwhile, other people were sitting and eating with no problem. To make matters worse, they actually suggested we could sit outside the locked doors in 95-degree heat to eat our food. Absolutely unbelievable. The disrespect and lack of basic customer service were appalling. If you don't want customers after 3:00, then lock the doors and stop wasting people's time and money. This is a beloved local lunch spot. They offer salads, soups, and homemade cake pieces. Chicken Tetrazzini salad was large and delicious with a unique Russian type dressing called "Italian Dressing" Unfortunately, I would not recommend the Meatloaf sándwich which was too small and did not satisfy a normal appetite. Today I placed an order online at 1040 ish for a 1130a pick up. I walk in at 1140 hoping my food is ready and of course it's not as always. Im standing there waiting. I'm seeing people who just walked in and ordered get their food before me. I had 3 items nothing too difficult to make. As im standing there one of the cooks comes out to say something about my order because I wanted no mushrooms. I told the guy at the pick section that it was fine to have the mushrooms. It took him 5 minutes to go back and tell the cook I said it was ok. He seemed all over the place. Now I'm just waiting so from 1140 to almost noon and I placed my order online is pretty ridiculous. My friend and I enjoyed a very delicious lunch at Hopkins the other day - our 1st time eating there. We usually go around 11am so there was no line. We ordered and our food was quickly served. We both had the chicken tetrazzini salad - AMAZING!! It's a very delicious salad of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions and green peppers topped with a portion of fettuccine noodles and chicken salad comes with house dressing, but I chose the creamy house dressing (and my friend chose the blue cheese). The place is nice and clean and offer a few cakes and cookies for dessert. I understand they can get quite busy in the day. We both definitely will be back or get it to go at least!! read more

I always get the Chef's salad with all turkey since I don't eat pork. I love that they put sprouts on their salad, serve it with crackers and have dressings beyond your common and typical "ranch and Italian." The salads come in two sizes and the small is called a "mini" but do not be fooled by the name. The "mini" is a huge salad that is definitely enough to fill up an adult. The presentation on the salads are great and although I don't typically like "large chunks" of vegetables on my salads, this one is amazing. I simply take a knife and make the tomatoes and peppers small enough for my liking. This is one of the best places in town for a salad! SERVICE: The customer service is quick and efficient. Whether it is this location or the location on Monroe, Hopkins is a favorite in my family. Though I usually frequent the Monroe location because I work near there, the quality of salads, sandwiches, soups, and cakes is consistent at the Market St. location as well. While the Monroe location is a bit more eclectic in its décor, both restaurants have room for quite a few patrons to come and try their varied options. I could eat at Hopkins every day of the week and not get bored because they have so many sandwiches and salad options to choose from. In addition, they have daily specials where you can get half of a featured sandwich and a cup of their soup of the day. I highly recommend their potato soup (don't remember if it is baked potato or the exact name but it is flavorful and has the right liquid combination where it is not too thick nor liquidy). Their salad dressings are from scratch and their cake slices vary by day but they always have their "bars" which are like giant brownie-like concoctions that are moist and sweet as well. If you haven't tried Hopkins, I highly recommend stopping into any of their locations and trying any one of their options today! read more

I still love Hopkins (Market Street site) but over the course of the past 2 years things have changed... and I get it: Covid, inflation, everyone needs workers. But in the past 5 years since I've been back in Tally full time the cost of the lunch special has increased $3 while the soup container size has decreased, the drink cup sizes have decreased, the amount of the sandwich meat has also decreased... and the overturn of staff is definitely changed. I began noticing these changes when the new register system was implemented a while back (last year maybe?). The staff I recognized for years is long gone - and I get ppl move on especially in this industry - I know because I worked it when I was younger. Today however I first witnessed one employee slightly berating another that they weren't doing their job or much of anything (not sure if that was her job or not I've just never witnessed anything like that here). I ordered a 1/2 Linda Special - while the sprouts & tomato were plenty there was barely any turkey. My sweetened mint tea was more tea than mint, or sweet - something I've never experienced. My husband did remark his baked chicken salad was very flavorful & it did have a good amount of chicken, so there's that. I guess it simply seems as tho the overall quality has taken a step down from what I've grown accustomed to over these past years. read more

Headed out on vacation from Jacksonville to Austin Texas and decided to stop on the way in Tallahassee to grab a bite of lunch at Hopkins Eatery. We used to live in Talley and it was one of our favorite places for lunch. They have a great selection of piled high specialty sandwiches and every day a couple of home made soups as well. Everything is extra fresh, and really flavorful. We love this place. The people are kind. Parking is easy. Service is fast. My wife had the Turkey and Hummus on Rye! I had the Meatloaf Sammy with a cup of Black Bean Soup. Our food came out quickly. It was yummy. The prices are very fair. Parking is easy right out front. It's not far off the interstate, so it's very easy to get to and jump right back on the interstate. Pretty neat sandwich shop that has a nice store front with plants! The roast beef sandwich I got was pretty big and full of all of its moist items and beef that was good. By the end of my sandwich my hands were pretty wet, so that means I had a good time. Salads have been one of their best items but their lettuce has been consistently terrible; wilted brown and sometimes even black. The only thing that looked fresh was the filler cabbage. Again, based on reviews posted on Yelp, I chose to visit Hopkins Eatery for an early dinner. The atmosphere was nothing special; it just looks like a regular deli with tables and chairs. The place was empty. For starters, I ordered the Walnut Gorgonzola Salad because it sounded so good on the menu. Big mistake. It simply consisted of leaf lettuce, canned mandarin oranges, walnuts, cheese, and store bought balsamic dressing. I did not care for it at all. I ordered the Linda's Special sandwich and opted for pumpernickel instead of the rye bread on which it is typically served. The sandwich was tasty and fresh. I ordered a side of the potato salad which was the BEST potato salad I have tasted in a long time. It isn't the usual potato salad drenched in mayo. This was more of a "German style" potato salad. It was absolutely delicious! For dessert, I ordered the "Heath Bar", which was a bar-style cookie topped with chocolate. It was amazing!!! And finally, I ordered a cup of coffee. I was directed to the styrofoam cups stacked on the corner of the counter, then to their soft drink station where I located a coffee pot half filled with coffee. I asked for creamer and was told to use creamer packs (store bought minis), that I found in the corner. Since I was taking the coffee to go, I asked for a lid, as no lids or stirrers were in sight. A bearded young man walked out from behind the counter, glanced toward the drink station, sighed deeply, and pointed me back toward the drink station. Now this is a place that reminds me of the family table. You come in and everyone is nice and happy to see you. I ate here many times in the weeks that I spent here. The meatloaf sandwich was by far my favorite of mine. Then the italian sub is right up there too. The place is really crowded at lunch time but the kitchen runs quick. Now it is a pretty much a self serve place. with everything easy to get to. So next time that I'm in Tallahassee kellearn area I'll be back.
