Which Wich is definitely the king of their league; they do fast-casual sandwichery right. I've been to this location several times and it is consistently great, the service is prompt and friendly and even though they have an infinite list of ingredients and options, the menu is well-organized and thus not overwhelming. I always opt for the Avocado and add...well everything. They have a great selection of cheeses, fresh and cooked veggies, condiments (everything from hummus and pesto to BBQ and ranch) the bread is always fresh with just the right amount of crunch on the exterior and soft fluff on the interior (they seem to never get soggy either with is a beautiful miracle). The sandwiches are served warm (unless requested otherwise) and I'm always impressed with how flavorful and satiating the sandwiches are. I treated my strong pregnancy craving to an Oreo milkshake recently and it was pretty spectacular. read more

With operations like Subway and even at one point of time, Quiznos, taking complete control of the sandwich craze, we never really knew what we were missing. For me, Firehouse is hit or miss. And if it weren't for Jersey Mikes, I think sandwiches would be extinct. I've heard of Which Wich before (still indifferent about the name to be honest) but it's irrelevant, because I'm a foodie and we love food. TLH is now happily home to two Which Wich locations with a third expected to open in the latter part of the summer. I was greeted by the polite and personable General Manager who walked me through the process of ordering. I set my mind on a hot Italian sandwich even before I set foot in the establishment. Here, it's called a grinder. Meats like salami and capicola melted in my mouth. And at Which Wich, you do all the heavy lifting. You build your very own sandwich by providing checkmarks on a writable menu, which just so happens to be a cleverly-developed sandwich wrapping paper of sorts. I landed on provolone cheese, marinara, pesto, lettuce, tomato, spinach, oregano, garlic and red pepper, all on toasted wheat. The ordering of the sandwich, the preparing of the sandwich and the eating of the sandwich, all took 20 minutes. That's quicker than watching your favorite sitcom on cable! I was invited here for a sneak preview of the restaurant, and everything was perfect. It was very clean, there is plenty of seating, and everything was well-stocked. The drink fountain was very clean, which is something that I always notice in restaurants that allow guests to fill their own beverages. The service was extremely friendly, and the managers showed that they really care about this restaurant. The food was delicious and exactly as I (and my date) ordered. I ordered a hot buffalo chicken sandwich with all of the fixings, and it came out perfectly. The buffalo sauce is delicious - not overly spicy, and just enough tang to make it great. My date ordered the Cuban sandwich with pesto sauce, and it was also tasty. We both enjoyed house chips and fountain drinks. We also were able to try the strawberry and Oreo milk shakes, both of which were yummy. We then tried a warm chocolate chip cookie that tasted just like my mom's old Toll House cookies. With a recent (last five years) up-cropping of boutique sandwich joints (Jersey Mike's, Lenny's, etc...), this one stands out with an engaging ordering process that assures the customer gets precisely what they've ordered (see other reviews covering the dedicated sacks). Groovy interior decor, moderate pricing, quick turnaround and palpable attention to the customer are all big pluses. Owner (David Walker) very involved with the operation. Evident that he's setting high expectations with the staff as well. This is a hike for us (we live near Magnolia & Park) but David told us that both Which Wich AND smashburger are opening up across from WD on magnolia in about six months - we'll look forward to that! At their core they're a Fast food sandwich place, with options to build your own or grab a specialty sandwich, house chips, and milkshakes. Great milkshakes, I recommend the Chocolate Oreo. So...They've got some really tasty specialty Wiches like the Meatball Grinder (cheese, pepperoni, sauce, meatballs...yum) or the Wicked (3 cheese, 3 meat, veggies...traditional sub yum). You just grab a bag and pick your Wich, the type of bread (or lettuce) you want it on, the size, and the toppings (like double cheese). You can customize any of the Wiches, even the specialty ones like the Elvis (throw some grilled onions on that and thank me later). "Great. Another sandwich shop" has been the resounding response of the denizen in Tallahassee. There is one commonality among these individuals: they have not yet visited the shop. Which Wich is a step above the rest. The place is clean and minimally decorated in a way that reminds you of Chipotle, but more inviting. We were approached not once or twice, but three times by employees who offered assistance in explaining their unique ordering system. This system is one of the many distinguishing factors of the shop. There are 10 different kinds of sandwiches you can order: ranging from chicken, turkey, ham and pork to classic, breakfast, and vegetarian. Within each of the 10 sections there are about 5 sandwiches. You select the category you want by choosing the paper bag with the printed category name on it and use a provided marker to choose both the selected sandwich and all of your toppings and specifications (there are a ton. I won't ruin all the surprises)! Another cool feature is that all of their meat is cut fresh in the back of the shop as you order. No pre-cut stuff here. They are about full customization. And let's not forget the quality of the sandwich: fantastic! I ordered a hot beef cheesesteak sandwich and the toasted flakiness of the outside and warm fluffiness of the inside are unparalleled to any sandwich bread I've had in Tally. The veggies were all fresh and I didn't feel shorted on the amount of meat either. Overall a great sandwich! Finally I want to touch back on the service, which was superb. Decided to give Which Wich a try on the way to work. There was a Hooked deal for $5 Wicked Sandwich- a great price. I thought it was really cool that you write your order on the bag instead of just telling the cashier, it was a much quicker method. I customized the sandwich a good about as I don't enjoy all sandwich meats. There was a plethora of topping options, very few had an additional charge. The full size sandwich was large enough for me to eat one half at the beginning of my shift and the other later on. The sandwich was pretty good, nothing amazing but definitely worth the $5. First time ever at Which Wich on Magnolia in Tallahassee today I ordered 2 large sandwiches with extra ham and cheese, etc., 2 chips, and 1 drink for $32 and left a tip. The sandwiches were wrapped in parchment like tissue paper and then in aluminum foil. I guess they had been steamed, I don't think they were put in a broiler, but maybe. They were a soggy mess and the bread disintegrated. I dropped off 1 with my daughter before I opened mine and knew how bad it was. I ate about a quarter of mine, throwing the bread away and then threw the rest of the sandwich away. This is definitely a one-and-done place to eat. read more

I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich tonight. I always get it with spinach. Tonight spinach was clearly marked on my bag, yet the sandwich maker put shredded lettuce on instead. When I opened the tinfoil around the sandwich I could IMMEDIATELY smell warm lettuce. Check your food before you leave because you might be highly disappointed otherwise. For the price of the sandwich it should come correct especially if the toppings are clearly marked. If you are out of something, let the customer know please do not replace it with a "comparable" topping because shredded lettuce does not substitute for spinach. Wonderful food and great customer service. My mom and I went for the first time over the weekend and the guy behind the counter came up to us and told us how things worked, which we really appreciated. The idea is very unique and exactly what a college town like Tallahassee needs. The only place in town with a better sub is Publix, and even then Which Wich comes incredibly close. I like the fact that you choose a bag based on the type of meat or non meat sub you want. I chose beef. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sub, with grilled onions and mushrooms. When I sat down to wait on my food. The tables and seats were dirty. They hadn't been wiped off and the place wasn't busy at all. My sister ordered the BLT. My sandwich was disgusting. Why is there raw mushrooms on my hot sandwich? The onions weren't grilled they were sautéed. I don't like deli beef, I expected real beef hot off the grill not heated by a toaster. My sister's sandwich had too much mustard and black pepper on it. And where was the bacon? The staff was nice. But the experience wasn't good at all. I'll stick to Jersey Mike's and Newks if I want a sandwich. read more

Customer service at this Which Wich is awful. Ordered 2 medium Meatball Grinders at the drive through get home and not sure what kind of meat is n the bread, but it is just meat and bread. Called and spoke to the manager who said they don't sell meatball grinders anymore, well why weren't we told. No cheese, no nothing, meat and bread only for $8.50 each REALLY....didn't offer to make it right or anything. Still have both sandwiches. I asked for spicy mustard on my drive thru sandwich and the woman put like half the jar. It got everywhere. I had to scrape it off and it still tasted like only mustard. I took a bite of it when I was in the car and mustard squirted out everywhere because even though I had scraped a lot of it off, she had hidden some like 3 or 4 tablespoons between the meat. I've been here a couple of times now. The ordering system they have is weird and confusing if you haven't been here before. They make you choose your own bag at the front of the restaurant. They are all numbered for some reason, which makes it all the more confusing (why do the bags have numbers at all??) The problem with this system, is there are always new customers who haven't been here before and get confused. Then they ask for help, but since there is a line of people, it ends up slowing down the whole process. Both times I've been here, there were confused students asking the staff what to do, and I had to wait in line at the cashier while they were walked through the process of ordering. This is going to be a huge issue in a college town, where you're constantly getting new people in the restaurant who know nothing about the ordering process. It just makes it take way too long. With that being said, the sandwiches I've had here have been pretty decent. The bread is the best part about the sandwich. It's tasty and high quality bread. However, the sizes of the sandwiches leave a lot to be desired. I have found that when I order a medium sub (10 inches), it's not enough food and I end up leaving hungry. If I order a large sub (14 inches), it's too much food and I can't finish it all. This is a bad situation to be in. To make matters worse, it's really expensive. A medium sub, drink, and chips, is going to cost you $12.60. This is even more expensive than Firehouse Subs, AND you're getting less food. (A large sub combo at Firehouse is going to run you around $11, and is a bigger sandwich.) They also have a specialty sub that changes every so often. I noticed on their website that it was a cheesesteak sub, so I made it a point to drive out there to get it. Unfortunately when I arrived, they told me there was a new specialty sub, and the website was just out of date. (The website needs to be updated in a timely fashion if you're going to offer limited time subs, especially when it's a chain restaurant with a lot of locations.) Another really weird decision they've made is they don't have any napkins available on any tables, or anywhere at all really. If you want napkins, you have to go up next to the drink machine where they have a huge roll of paper towels where you can unravel some for yourself. Not only is this inconvenient, it's unsanitary. When people need napkins (or in this case paper towels), it's usually because they have messy hands. You're asking people to put their messy hands on the paper towel roll so that they can tear off a piece for themselves. Then the person behind them has to touch the same roll the person that had messy fingers just touched. No bueno. The good part about this restaurant, is they have quite a few options available for subs, so there is a little something for everybody. Unfortunately, the unorthodox ordering method, price, and paper towel situation makes for just an average chain sub shop. read more
