The good: the alpacas and sheep outside. They are adorable and you can feed them the grass. The bad: the wine really is not good. I love wine but am not a wine snob, but 4 out of 5 wines I tried were undrinkable. And this was not just me, the folks near us were saying the same thing. It's too bad, it's a nice space. I'd also say their token system makes no sense. Instead of paying for a tasting, you have to wait in a long line to purchase tokens (my line took over 15 minutes due to the folks bussed in from the city buying wine). I then had to take the tokens back to the bar and place them on the mat to show what I wanted. Just seemed like an extra step that was not needed. Great time had by all. Betsy was very knowledgeable and down to earth. The pours were very generous compared to some of the other vineyards. The wines are sweeter, which works for me, but if you are a fan of dry wine it may not be for you. The cheese selection could have been better, but we brought our own snacks so was not impactful to us. The alpaca's were adorable and the sheep were Baaaaaa'ing away. First and foremost the wine is great! What makes Jason's Winery stand out is the great service and friendly vibe. The live music we enjoyed this Memorial Day weekend was entertaining but not intrusive. We were quickly greeted and asked if there was anything we wanted. We were seated and purchased a bottle of Chardonnay and enjoyed our snacks, which we brought from home. This was our third visit and each time it gets better. Jason's is a must visit and be ready to engage the friendly crowd if you like or just chill with your party. Feeding the sheep and llama was a fun diversion. read more

There was an older women I believe her name was Betsey, very attentive and informative. This vinyard was ok! The place itself decent and we were able to eat lunch at the tables they had outside. It was fun walking around the vinyard and they have a live band playing. One thing i did not like at all was the service. You could not get more than one tasting at a time and it took forever for the bar women to get to you so we spend most of our time at the bar trying to get served. It would have been cool to have been able to get two tastings each and sit outside to enjoy the music but we ended up spending alot of time indoors. read more

Stopped into Jason's with some friends for a weekday tasting. This was my second time there, and this time the service was horrendous. There was a couple at the bar, who when we walked in informed us, they didn't know where the bartender went. We waited for about 15 minutes before she came out, and her response to us sitting there was "let me guess you have a groupon". When we told her we didn't, she rudely stated "good, we hate them here". What?! We completed our tasting, the wine is good. Golden Fleece was my favorite. After the way we were treated, I'm not sure the wine is good enough to get me to come back. read more

This was a really nice vineyard. Betsy was such a warm and welcoming hostess. We had an absolute blast! The pours were very generous, especially compared to some of the other vineyards in the area, especially for a $10 tasting. Snack are limited to cheese and crackers, but that's pretty standard on Long Island. The wines are good and offer unusual or unique flavors. However, they do tend to be a bit on the sweeter side. If you like sweet wines, you'll be fine. If you prefer dry wines, it might be harder to find 5 for a full tasting. If you're looking for an affordable tasting and a fun (less formal) atmosphere, Jason's vineyard is absolutely worth a stop. read more

Just don't go. Not much more to say - service was absolutely the worst I have seen at a winery - ever. There are some very nasty ladies working the tasting bar. They weren't able to speak about the wine, were clearly overwhelmed and tired. They rushed us through our tasting -- once they decided to look at us, that is. The winery itself is nice looking, outdoor area looked like fun. I think they had a few animals roaming around. Its probably a nice place to hang out when there aren't 29 very large tour buses in the parking lot. Wine is not memorable. Note to all - head a half mile in either direction for more memorable wines and intimate vineyard experiences. Avoid the wineries with the 56-passenger buses parked in the lot. read more

I'm sorry but, you don't increase the price to reserve an old gazebo that can't even accommodate our family for Fathers Day from $50 which was the price the last few years to $300. That's ridiculous. The Manager said they have to account for extra security, more dumpsters, etc. Ummm.....extra security on Fathers Day? Sure....You definitely need security for my 91 year old Father or the other quiet and small families that go on that day. You just lost a family of 30 people wanting to celebrate our Fathers at the vineyard. Very sad. read more

Jason's was our second stop of the day this past weekend out in the North Fork. It was pretty empty save for one large group that appeared to be doing a wine touring and had stopped by outside to eat lunch as well. There wasn't anyone else inside, but the wine bar is shaped like a boat on the ground and on the ceiling above - a very cool design keeping in the mythical motif that the vineyard is named after. The two people behind the bar were very genial and gave us decent advice on their favorites and which wines to taste. I was a big fan of the Golden Fleece in particular - to me, it's similar to the gewurtztraminers I've had at other vineyards - not too sweet, but not a very dry wine either. The '08 Chardonnay was also very good, and I liked the '07 Meritage as well - the tannens aren't as overpowering as they are in other reds. I haven't seen a Malbec elsewhere in the North Fork, so I tried it here. I do think it's a wine that needs a bit more time to develop, as the folks behind the counter thought. It's got a peppery kick to it, and while it's definitely one of the more interesting reds I've had, it's not really up my alley. You do have a porch outside with live music playing, and there's also a small gazebo down by the grapevines where you can kick back and relax as well. This is a nice little vineyard that should get a little more attention - I'd definitely come back again! read more

After taking a personal day much-needed from my high stress job I was very disappointed when I arrived at the Vineyard after purchasing a Groupon at 4:15 to show up with my friends for my birthday to be sadly disappointed that no one was there to greet us at the door and that no one was there. Jason Vineyard was the first stop on our wine tour and a nice quiet introduction for the day of wine tastings. When we arrived though on the wine tour bus, they were closed! I think the Wine Tour company got something wrong and we could see the bus driver calling to see why they were closed. We then waited a half hour for the staff to arrive, so I'm thinking that they didn't realize we were coming. No worries. They set up quickly and were very friendly with the tastings. Nicely accommodating a bus load of people so last minute. The outside seating area is nice and the wine is decent. The Golden Fleece was my favorite of the wines but nothing struck me enough to make a purchase for my home bar. We were there on the last weekend of the wine tour, so that could explain the quiet atmosphere here. read more

One of the smaller vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island, very cozy and relaxed. The tasting room manager is very friendly, as well as the staff as a whole. The tasting room itself is the Argo, Jason's ship from Greek mythology. The covered "porch" holds live music performances comfortably. This is no Martha Clara or Wolffer, this is more intimate, and a great place to go for a tasting if you aren't into the larger vineyards. read more

If you're looking for a place to hang out and relax with some wine and lunch on a nice day, Jason's Vineyard is not a bad place. They have outdoor tables, you can bring your own lunch...and they sell wine. It's awesome that they have animals here...alpacas (I think), and sheep. However, if you want tasty wine, you will likely be disappointed. I tasted the Golden Fleece, Chardonnay, Rose, and Carbernet Sauvignon, and was surprised that I did not enjoy any one of them. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE is all I can say. I had my birthday here about a week ago and it was such a great experience I regret leaving to go somewhere else. Should've stayed here all day they were so nice and friendly the wine is amazing. I've been here a million times and each time it gets better and better. Love everything about this place. This is one of my favorites in my 2nd wine-biking tour of LI. We stopped by Sherwood, Jason, and Corey. I prefer semi sweet whites and their golden fleece, 2008 chardonnay, 2010 riesling were delicious. The deco of a viking ship for their tasting bar was spacious and fun to hang around. Unfortunately they don't have any crackers to accompany their wine tasting. The small sheep in the front were entertaining. Live music on the porch was a-ok. Definitely returning for more whites and petting zoo. read more

Stopped here while on a bike tour, there's great outdoor seating so on a cool day it's a nice place to enjoy a glass. One issue we had was that for the tastings you have to go back inside to the bar for each new glass, not a huge deal but the service in the bar was on the slower side. We were also a little confused about how everything worked. You have to go up to the cashier first and get chips for your tasting, then you put the chips on the menus they have displayed on each wine you'd like to try. There aren't any signs telling you any of this so it was confusing for our first time. We only tried white wines since it was a warm summer day and we weren't blown away by any of them. It's a cute place but I probably won't be coming back any time soon. read more
