Two of my favorite wines are at this winery, so automatic five stars from me! I love sweet wines and both their white Riesling and Golden Fleece are delicious! The white Riesling may in fact be my favorite non-ice wine ever! Their current tasting menu is $10 for five lines, which is pretty good. They give you a grid with the wine menu and also poker chips for each tasting, so you feel like you're playing bingo as you select your tasting! LOL. This is one of the more popular wineries and again as a result can become loud and rambunctious at times, but it doesn't bother me because I do love their wines. Probably about a 2.5, just so so. This winery has only been around for a couple of years and it shows. We had a tasting of a few of their wines. They were out of the Riesling. I gagged on their Chardonnay and their Cab had way too much French oak. Neither was pleasant. Really enjoyed their Rose. I even picked up a bottle to take home. Light and fruity. Meritage was decent, but have had better. They also make a Malbec which intrigued me since it's not common for Long Island, but I did not try it. Staff was nice but not very knowledgeable. Live music at the outside covered deck. I wouldn't recommend stopping by. Not enough to make we want to come back. read more

My parents took me for some wine tasting and we stopped at Jason's Vineyard for a few pours. The wine was very good, particularly I enjoyed the Golden Fleece and the 2006 Desert wine. They have a number of unique wines to offer, all of which were quite good. Also we were allowed to feed their alpacas and sheep which was a fun experience you don't get at most tasting rooms! WOW! This may be a biased review due the fact that we had a once in a lifetime experience during our visit. To start we came here with an excellent Groupon that we purchased for 2 tastings, a cheese and cracker platter, and a full glass for each of us for only $26. The wine selection was nice and to our surprise we liked some of their whites better than the reds, as we are strict red drinkers. The atmosphere is more that of a bar than a traditional quite, refined, and some times uncomfortable vineyard tasting room. The server was Betsy, a very outgoing, fun, and most important, dedicated employee. Here's where this visit rocketed past anything I've ever yelped before. Two ours before our arrival a baby lamb was born. Andi or Andy (not sure yet) was adorable. We first saw her in the field from a distance which was amazing enough to see at only two hours old. Then when Betsy, dedicated Betsy, decided it was time to take the lamb home for the night because it wasn't eating we were granted the opportunity to help feed and care for it until closing time. This lamb was so new it could hardly stand and needed a lot if encouragement to finish the bottle we fed it. Betsy will take it home, every night and bring it back in the morning until it is ready to be back out on its own, and this is not her first time. Great Job Betsy, your a special woman and we are now customers for life. Thank you. read more

Came here yesterday and enjoyed myself again. Instead of buying glasses of wine, I highly recommend getting a bottle. The glasses were about $10 (even if the bottle was $16 or $26 which I thought was not a good deal for the cheaper whites) so it made sense to just keep buying bottles, even if I didn't necessarily want a whole bottle. I had the rosé and the Golden Fleece- both were very good. Golden Fleecen is one of their signature bottles, and only $18 or so. The indoor bar was very crowded (bad weather drove everyone inside) so we sat on the enclosed porch where there were tables and seats. Only problem was that it was HOT. The enclosure is plastic and I think it made it even warmer than it really was outside. Maybe would have been a good idea to get more fans or open them up a little bit. When it was crowded earlier in the day it was almost unbearable. read more

Went here with friends on a wine tour! From booking the reservation to enjoying a nice afternoon great experience! We arrived in our limo and were immediately ushered inside to pay and receive our tokens. We were given 5 tokens which equal 1 token per tasting. The wine was great!! Very nice staff who were very knowledgeable on the wine and answered any questions we had. Some of the guys in our group were vey pleased that they also had Greenport Beer on tap. We came on a Saturday and their live music was great!! Plenty of places to sit and even some fun animals that you can pet! Almost everyone in our party purchased a bottle of wine! This was my first time at Jason's vineyard and I will definitely be back! Keep up the great work and thank you for everything!!! read more

In the 90s, Rocco reminded us that "[y]ou can't fight corporate America." The wise wallaby's words echo in my mind when I look at what has happened to Jason's. This vineyard succeeded for awhile in providing a relaxed ambiance where you could actually speak with the staff about the wine. My husband and I used to love visiting and would recommend the spot to anyone venturing to wine country (in the not-too-distant past). Unfortunately, the three stars are for nostalgia; if my review was based on the present and immediate past, I would award two stars. Jason's has become a haven for buses, limos, and massive groups. Forget about learning details of the wine; you'll be lucky if one of the used-to-be-friendly-now-highly-inattentive bartenders pours your flight in a reasonable amount of time. They seem heavily stressed and confused; the place is so stuffed that you can't move around with ease or procure a spot to sit with food when the rain precludes outdoor dining. I'm sad to see what has happened to Jason's; I understand that wineries want the businesses of buses and limos, but the densely packed vehicles are at an extreme here. Whether Jason's will live in the land of the lost with other past loves or redeem itself and reenter my circle of favored wineries is a inquiry where I hope the latter wins. read more

This winery was the most disappointing of the five we visited during our weekend on the North Fork. We came here as part of a wine tour and our lunch was delivered here. From the outside it looks like a nice enough place, with a large patio and outdoor space, and of course the adorable alpacas (who disappointingly don't seem to love all the wine drunk oglers!). We did not enjoy our experience inside though...the wines were a bummer to everyone in our group. I don't consider us to be very picky at all but the quality seemed poor in comparison to the other wineries we visited. The system was a bit strange too, for the tasting you get tickets or tokens to get your tasting wines. You then have to fight the crowds at one of the bars and it seemed like a chaotic system to be moving around each time you want a taste or trying to carry your five tasting samples at once. Perhaps we visited on an off day, but if you do come here on a weekend, plan for large crowds and a bit of chaos! The alpacas are cute though :) read more

Went to this place on a Wine Tour hosted by the Hilton Garden Inn. It was one of the smaller ones on the tour, but well suited to amateur wine-goers, tourists and locals. The bar attendant was a nice, tall laid-back kinda guy who didn't seem to take any of this hoity-toity sommelier stuff seriously...just the way I like it!! Very unpretentious and really, I say the place had a decent selection considering its size. Another yelper wrote how he hated he Chardonnay, but I personally loved it because it was dry and had a nice oak to it. I also fell in love at first sip with their 2001 Merlot so I bought 2 bottles-not pricey at all! Overall, the place was delightful for me, and I wish I could've enjoyed them on a weekend when they have live entertainment..oh well maybe next time! read more

I enjoyed the Chardonnay '08 and the Golden Fleece - definitely worth a visit! One thing I didn't like was how loud the band was on the patio. Simply outstanding! The Golden Fleece wine is fantastic and a must try. I'm not a fan of Rose, but theirs is seemingly very popular. The ambiance is wonderful and the staff is top notch. I loved coming to this place! Upon my stay in Long Island, I hadn't even realized that there was a wine country in the area. I had visited a few but this place was had the nicest staff, the best wine and the best atmosphere. I really enjoyed how the wine tasting area was made to look like Jason's ship, the Argo. It was a very interesting take on the mythology. I personally bought a few bottles and would recommend checking it out. read more

What makes any establishment stand out from the others are its people. Long Island is flooded with vineyards large and small. But all in all usually you will find a wine that suits your fancy. I enjoyed the Golden Fleece, 2010 Meritage and 2011 Sauvignon Blanc. As for our pours, they could not have been more helpful and even more friendlier. I love the atmosphere and I love their wine. A+ for all of this. I give this place 3 stars because the service is always terrible. I am treated condescendingly by this old lady. I came with the Groupon and asked how I should order. Clearly annoyed that I had a groupon (I'm sorry but if your business was doing fine you wouldn't need Groupon in the first place..) And the old lady wearing a light blue shirt working 10/4/2016 was SO rude and demanded I open the voucher. Ok I understand that, but I was asking how many wines I pick, etc. and she was in her own world being a b*** and was down talking me. I kept my cool though because she was at work and I'm an adult, unlike her. Honestly I've never been so raged by the way someone who was serving me talked to me. I also work customer service and I was blown away by her disgusting tone and confused how someone like this can hold a job. She is terrible for business because I made a point to spend no extra money here due to this terrible employee. She is the absolute worst. So rude. Edit: This sever has personally messaged me calling me an entitled 22 year old who has never had a service job, nor manners. Haha. What a joke. Who talks to customers like that? Been working customer service 5 years, never acted this way. I agree with DJ on his review. I think I had the same lady. Short, older, greying hair. She was so nasty. I asked her if I could see the label of wine and she stood back about 5 feet from me and when I told her I couldn't see it, she slammed the bottle down in front of me. The Australian lady was friendly. I assume she is Jason's fiancé that is mentioned in one of the wines. Just because I came on a bus does NOT mean that I don't know my wines. It was my first time out to LI and I expected the wine pourers to explain the varietals, aging process, etc... They did not deliver. They should not agree to be a wine tour destination for buses if they don't have an educated staff. None of the wine we tasted here was worth buying. They all seemed to fall flat where key notes should have been delivered. This vineyard seems like somebody's hobby. read more

Jason's Vineyard is a good stop on the way out east. We had a Groupon for a VIP wine tasting for 2 which we used. We were given a paper plate with a wrapped piece of cheese (saran wrapped - weird) and some ritz crackers again, saran wrapped. We noticed on the shelf they are selling one sleeve of ritz crackers for $3. Anyway, on to the actual tasting part. The whites are pretty decent, golden fleece is good if you like a sweeter wine. Hercules is a decent table wine and the rose was also good. Did not care too much for anything else other than the port wine which was like candy. read more

I'm not sure why people are giving this 5 stars as this was possibly the worst wine and atmosphere I have been in, for a long time. The service was incredibly poor, they would not give us an ice bucket, to keep the overpriced bottle of tasteless white, cool in. The wine glasses were incredibly filthy and after I cleaned one with a napkin, it came out brown.....the had to go through at least 10 glasses to get one clean one. If the wine, service and dirt wasn't bad enough. We were serenaded by a very loud, off key band. The only redeeming feature is that you can bring your own food in. Make sure you bring enough, as when it's done you have nothing to take the taste of the wine out of your mouth. read more

To be Fair - 3.5 stars The nautical theme is a nice touch from all the other NOFO wineries, but the concept with paying up front for your tastings, or even additional glasses of wine seems just a bit odd, almost off-putting, especially when tasting pours and glass pours are extremely short for the price!! $10 for 5 sips is no deal, $10 for 4 oz. of wine after the fact is a rip-off, especially when 10 minutes before at lunch, I had a FULL glass of another NOFO wine for $11, but I digress... Live acoustic guitar music on the outside covered deck was a nice touch, able to enjoy conversation with friends and enjoy the sunshine and breeze. As for the wines themselves - some much better then others, but nothing outstanding and nothing making me run back to get more anytime soon. Golden Fleece is probably the one stand-out, the rose was way too sweet. I liked that they had Greenpoint Harbor beer on tap, but please...please, learn how to pour it! read more

I'm confused about how this place is rated so highly. Have the people who gave it 5 stars never been to another vineyard before? Pros -They have a nice patio and it's really large so even if there are lots of people, there is plenty of space -Proximity to other higher quality, better vineyards so when you leave disappointed, you don't have far to go to have an enjoyable experience. Cons -The wine itself is not good. We tasted five different options and ONE was ok at best. The rest we didn't even finish which is astounding considering how stingy the tasting pour is. -The service is god awful. One woman behind the bar was clearly intoxicated and was thus obnoxious to us and other customers. The other literally said "I can't wait for all you people to leave so I can get home to my book." HUH?! -I got the vibe that this is a place where people just go to get completely trashed (in which case they wouldn't care that their wine is not great) but it makes for a very family unfriendly atmosphere. -It smelled terrible in the tasting room and just looked/felt dirty. The stench was a combo of porta potty and stale cigarettes. Were we in a latrine or a winery? -Bring a fly swatter because you will be CONSTANTLY dive bombed by bugs. So. Many. Flies. If you leave your glass alone and/or uncovered for more than 7-10 seconds you can bet you will find bugs in your drink. -You pay upfront for tokens for your tastings. It's a very awkward and disjointed experience. I love going to wineries and it's something that my mom, grandma and I do every time Mom is in town. We generally love NOFO vineyards and wineries but will NEVER ever go back to this one. Not worth the time or the money and I can't imagine they will stay open for too much longer when the surrounding competition is so very superior in every way. read more

An insult to the rising reputation of Long Island wines. The public should be clued in by the fact that the wines are half the price of those at other wineries on the North Fork. Whether tasting their single grape varietals or their blends, there is a lack of sophistication, depth and balance we are coming to expect from LI wines. To overcome this, all the wines are heavily oaked to cover the poor quality of the product. My advice is either spend a bit more and visit a winery that produces a respectable wine, or bring a perfectly good $15 bottle from your local grocery store and have a picnic on the North Fork. I give the winery two stars instead of one only because Jason serves a purpose: cheap + lots of outdoor space + loud music = perfect for the large groups of drunk 20 somethings who litter the North Fork on the weekends. read more
