The food was beyond subpar. I would have had a better tasting pizza by putting a frozen pizza in the oven compared to eating their sugary, flat, greasy excuse for a pizza. It was limp and the dough wasn't even that saturated it was gooey. Their salad was made with shredded lettuce from a bag used for subs, the ham was pre sliced and frozen prior. This old building has seen a lot of businesses come and go. When I first moved here over 30 years ago, it was an antique store which also made the best homemade pies I have ever tasted. After they closed it has been a couple of different restaurants, one of them was owned by my brother. Jaspare's has been in Lawton around 10 years. They have numerous locations in the Kalamazoo area. I have had their pizza a couple of times and it is pretty good. Today I stopped by to grab a sub as I was working from home and needed to take a short break. The interior is rather dumpy. Mismatched booths, carpet that needed to be vacuumed, and walls that could use some fresh paint. I'm assuming they don't do much dine-in and most everything is take-out. I ordered the Sicilian 6" sub, which came with capicola, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. The wait wasn't too long 7-10 minutes for it to be made. I brought it home and was impressed the bread was toasted. I really liked the sub. It had ample amount of meat, perfect size for me, and it tasted very good. With no other quick eating establishments in Lawton, this is a good place to grab a sub or a pizza to take home and enjoy. read more

I had high hopes for this little place, set in the small and cozy village of Lawton. Situated in an old building, on the corner, with lots of windows and high ceilings; this home town pizza joint had great potential. There is a bit of a let down though when you walk in the door and there is no music playing and hardly a soul eating on a Saturday night. First, the owner, a nice young man, offered to talk to us about the subs, which I was desperately craving. We got 2 subs, loaded with fresh meat and cheese, on a tasty bun. A 12 inch delicacy was almost in my grasp...but what arrived was a mediocre, blah sandwich, that offered about an ouch of meat, if that. The Sicilian was not worth eating really, because of the lack of toppings. I easily could have piled all of the toppings from a 12 inch onto a 4 inch, and the bun was toasted a bit too much. The club was adequate, but nothing special. The ambiance was awful to be safe. There were video game consoles and laptops on a few of the tables, but not for customers, but perhaps for the staff to use when it was slow; which is likely often. The lobby, with all of its potential, was not very clean, and there was dust everywhere. One bathroom was out of order and the little arcade claw machine was also out of order. The entire time we were there, a total of two people came in to pick up pizza, but nobody came in to dine. We likely won't be coming back soon and I'm really disappointed that the owners don't take a little time to spruce up the place and offer a touch of pride. Was in town in business and this place came highly recommended by the locals. If you're looking for a five star atmosphere, than this is not your place. However, if you want an great pizza The inside of the restaurant smells like my grandmas house and the lighting is pretty dim, but the pizza toppings are great and plentiful. I really don't prefer eating here anymore and I don't think I will. I'll prefer that McDonalds down the street. Thats how bad this was. The place has gone down in service since opening; heres what I experienced on two different occasions. The first experience was calling an order from home, my father and I ordered subs. I had a meatball sub, he ordered something else; at any rate, I never ate their subs before, and needless to say, I expected meatballs. Forty minutes passed and we picked up our food, I was eager to bite in until I looked at it. It looked like a frozen pork patty cut into squares and shoved into a piece of bread. It wasn't even a meatball. It was disgusting, browny/gray colored, you want to eat this? Its texture was that of of rubber. I thought maybe that was just MY sub, my father, who ordered a completely different sandwich ALSO complained of having this rubbery meat substance on his sub. Was that really worth about $20 for frozen patties? ---------------------- Another experience, much worse I'm afraid, was much more frustrating and not worth the time. I called an order up with my cousin about five months later to ask about getting a pizza, and some breadsticks. Simple. Just a pepporoni pizza, and breadsticks. Nothing added, just one. WELL. Thirty minutes passed and we went to the shop. Whats this? No order has been placed under that name. Huh, suspicious. We felt understanding, though irritated, and ordered again, paying up front. We left and came back ANOTHER half hour later to find out that they've forgotten us again, and said "Well you can have this." They gave us the wrong pizza, and the breadsticks were a lump of cheese smashed together. Lactose intolerant, I did not order cheese on my breadsticks, that is why I ordered breadsticks, not cheese sticks. It was disgusting. The pizza was also strangely shaped and was not worth a tip. Waiting an extra hour for you was dissapointing, and you should really think about firing that staff down there, they all looked thirteen and unaware of what they were doing --except for the person who took our order, who clearly messed it up anyway, so apparently age doesnt matter in the long run. Unfortunately, this business has changed its delivery policy and won't accommodate orders that are 11 miles away. I've ordered from here before and hoped to order pizza for 18 people this weekend (it's great food!). After lots of pleading and offering to tip extremely well, the restaurant refused to deliver to us. Great food, but far below average customer service. Usually pretty good pizza but inconsistent. Expensive for what you get when you can travel 5 min more to Paw Paw and have Pizza Hut, Little Cesar's, Amore's, and LaCantina's. The thing that got me was the $3.plus delivery fee even if you live in the village a block away. They do not give this fee to the driver so one is expected to tip on top of their delivery fee. They will not tell you this unless you ask. Ridiculous. read more
