This place is well taken care of by a staff that cares. It's comfortable and chill and their coffee is really good. They offer free refills on brewed coffee and there's a lot of places to sit all with a different feel and functional purpose. There are plenty of wall plugs, the staff is friendly and it's a relaxing spot to work. Java house is a great neighborhood coffee spot! A super welcoming place with great employees who make good drinks. It's a nice spot to get some work done or catch up with friends. It's a great place to chill at if you work from home or if you just wanna get a coffee and chill out and get out the house. The food was underwhelming though, I can admit. The sandwich was a basic sandwich. I was surprised that it didn't come with any jelly or sauce. I asked for the matcha to be sweet and it was absolutely not. I ended up tossing it. Nice local spot with a huge coffee and tea selection. Small bites, pastries and ice cream for food options. Solid cappuccino work but the lattes are very sweet and play up to the high school crowd. House made cannolis are up there with some of the best I've had (this includes Dearborn bakeries and the infamous Italian market). They also sell a selection of local artist arts and crafts like Jewelry, sewn and knit goods, candles, etc. for impulse buys or unique gifts. Plenty of indoor seating, couldn't connect to WiFi but was probably my security policies. If you're not into or open to listening to faith-based music and plan to stay in, this spot probably isn't for you. The Java House Café was so much more than I expected. The modern design fooled me as I entered the business. The inside is all open and inviting. I was drawn right away to the amazing homemade items that lined the left side of the café. Crochet bags/purses, animals, stoneware and jewelry. I just loved the attractive and cozy area by the fireplace to relax and enjoy! Oh and the coffee and lunch were perfect. I enjoyed a Mocha Latte and the broccoli cheese soup with a side of bread for lunch. A great choice for this chilly fall day here in Michigan. There is plenty of parking and outdoor seating area too. The prices are reasonable for this kind of café. The friendly and engaging staff is wonderful and charming to chat with. After coming on here and reading reviews, I dealt with the owner and I believe perhaps his wife today. I've always loved this place I get so excited whenever I'm in the area for their coffee! But one of the reviews I just read was "it would've been an easy fix tell us next time." Today I go in excited per usual I rave about this place and I believe the owners wife took my order and I've never not once order a hot coffee in my life! Besides the point the owner himself brings me a hot latte, I said so sorry but it was supposed to be iced. Instead of saying don't be sorry I'll remake it, we're going back and forth with each other. He asked if I was sure I said yes, he asked if I told the lady who took my order, I said yes, he responds with well she said you didn't. And I was over it by that point why am I arguing with a grown man, so I said just give it to me hot "oh no no we'll fix it for you" then goes on "you just need to tell us next time" I love this coffee shop I've never witness the owners before I've always had a great experience. With the first steps into the cafe I got the aroma of many different items, without the sense of overpowering fragrances. The shop is open nicely with plenty of seating all around, including a variety of both low and high top tables, and couches for those who'd like to relax a little bit more. Also around is a selection of local artisans work for sale on a couple of tables, and along the wall. Nice to see the local support of artists and designers alike. Though it was only in the 8 o'clock hour when I was there, it was different(good) to see a variety of choices in both coffee, food, and even ice cream. I stuck with just the latte for the morning. The barista who took my order and had welcomed me through the door, brought the beverage to my seat. Although she may have accidentally spilled a little when setting it down, she quickly grabbed napkins and a wet rag to clean up the spill. All good! As I sipped the latte, it never stood out to me. Very plain, with uninteresting flavors built within. I ordered it with an extra shot in the 16oz size, and had I not had the extra espresso, it would have come out weak and watery. Decent cup of milk and espresso, could use some work. After my experience I come to conclusion, espresso/coffee is not their purpose and so it's not the main focus. I have been a LOYAL java house customer for two years. I like to come here after classes and be able to unwind and relax and see my friends. HOWEVER. Recently they have been discriminating against me. Earlier this week me and only two other people came to study, and were planning to order coffee once we got some work done. While we were sitting there TALKING about what we were going to get, a worker approached us and asked us to leave if we weren't going to buy anything. IN FACT her exact words were "if you dont buy anything now i am going to kick you out". THIS is so unacceptable. How are you going to kick us out when we were just about to buy something. And let me ask you this Java House, what if the students coming from the school are low income. What if people do not have the money to afford your overpriced coffee and milkshakes. I don't have much good to say about this place. I didn't even like coming in here when they advertised with Free Medium Coffee coupons. Now that the best they offer is BOGO, I can't in my right mind go here when I can have the better Biggby for less. Service is unfriendly...not rude, just unfriendly. Everything is expensive. I can only assume it's still around because people try to maintain local loyalties by giving business blindly to local establishments regardless of if they deserve it or not. I've been to this place two or three times over the past two years. Today solidified that I won't be returning. Their iced tea tastes like it's been sitting out overnight. The customer service today was lukewarm. No "thank you" or "anything else?" or anything remotely friendly. Just mute attention. I felt like I was an inconvenience. As a lesbian couple in South Lyon, we have been surprised to receive overwhelmingly warm and accepting service from every place in town except Brown's, and this place. While the service at Brown's was openly unfriendly, here at Java House it was simply bristly. Maybe that was me reading into things, but I assume with all the Christian references in this place, that it may be related to their religion, which is a pretty crappy way to be. Ordered a latte today and it wasn't good. Milk was burnt; the milk screams every time they steam it because it's the sound of them burning it. You won't hear milk being steamed like that in places that know how to do it properly. I love this place! The seats are so comfortable and they have so much variety of everything. I've had their scones and those are beyond amazing!! The teas are perfect as well. Customer service is usually really good. They have WiFi. They have live singing or playing things regularly. They also sell some cool crafty things which are really beautiful. I just discovered this gem since I work in South Lyon. I have purchased the 5 dollar sack lunch, which is really a deal since it is fairly healthy ( wrap or croissant , cookie and chips ) . They have a nice variety of coffee beverages and pastries. The cozy atmosphere though is what really keeps me coming back only since I am more of a black coffee drinker ( they have quality coffee choices brewed too ) . There is a fireplace and piano and nice work spaces. Its fun since they sell local crafts and goods and it is there if you are interested , but not in the way of the actual barista area or being pushed on you like big box coffee shops. I would recommend coming here, its also $1 small coffees and $1.50 medium coffees from 6:30-9:30 can't beat that deal on GREAT coffee!!! read more

I have been to Java house many times. It has a great area for studying or meeting with a friend. I enjoy the Christian music they play. Unfortunately the coffee is pretty bad and they often do not have ingredients for the sandwiches they advertise. None of the employees are rude but they are not really friendly either.
