Sometimes the best finds happen when your plans completely fall apart. I work remotely, and when my power unexpectedly went out, I needed to find a coffee shop close to home where I could set up for the day. Java House ended up being exactly what I was looking for. Their drink menu has something for everyone, whether you're after a serious caffeine boost, something lighter, or even one of their refreshers. I ordered the Workaholic (iced), which felt especially fitting given the circumstances, and it absolutely lived up to the name. I can't remember everything that was in it now, but I definitely remember thinking I'd order it again. I didn't get a chance to try the food, but judging by the conversations happening around me, it sounds like I need to fix that next visit. More than one nearby table was talking about how good their meals were. What really made this place stand out as a remote work spot was the setup. There was plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs, lots of outlets, reliable free Wi-Fi, and enough space that I never felt like I was competing for a table. Whether you're planning to stay for 20 minutes or a few hours, it's easy to settle in and get comfortable. It's always nice when an unexpected inconvenience leads you to discovering a place you'll gladly return to. Safe to say Java House earned itself a repeat customer. read more

Have walked by Java House before and had heard about their coffee and finally stopped in. I ordered a matcha latte and a protein latte. Inside is bright and fresh with ample seating for many and thei have additional seating on an upper level. We found both drinks to be too sweet. I did add some coconut yo my latte but could taste any coconut whoch was disappointing. My daughter found the sweet cream/cold foam on the matcha latte was too thick. Was looking for a traditional coffee spot that serves espressos and cortados. Learned that JH served a cold brew coffee and then through the process of steaming milk for lattes and cappuccinos that you can order hot drinks. The Barista was helpful in helping us understand what to order, so we gave it a try. I ordered a latte made with half and half. The cold brew used was very smooth. Using half and half probably mellows the coffee a bit more. My hubby ordered a cappuccino with 2oz half and half 4 oz whole milk. His coffee flavor came through more clearly than mine. I enjoyed mine, he would prefer a cortado but they are unable to do espresso shots in that way. I'm glad we had this experience of trying something new! They have a great menu of cold drinks, specialty drinks and smoothies. If you're in downtown Indianapolis, give them a try! read more

I had such a lovely remote working experience here earlier this week. I've been to their other locations but its oddly taken me a while to visit the newer one close to my home. They're conveniently located between the bustling Mass Ave District and the Wholesale District and a few blocks off the Cultural Trail. Free parking can be found in the building - right off New York Street for retail customers. This makes popping in here super easy! The young man working the counter was very friendly and promptly took my cold brew coffee order. I walk this fine line of wanting to have some flavor but nearly no sugar - he nailed it. (Thank you!) The drink was fabulous - I look forward to trying more of their winter menu lineup. The space is tidy, features ample natural lighting and a variety of seating arrangements. They have so many options of milk.They have coconut milk, macadamia nut milk, oat, milk, almond milk, etc. can't believe the options they have since many other coffee shops don't have that. The service was exceptional and professional. I tried the Honey baby and it was perfect!! I really enjoyed my coffee and happy I came here!! They have cute names for their coffees and a lot of pastries and breakfast sandwiches! The ambiance is cute with nice decor and nice for studying. It seems like this is the spot to study at. So why the three stars... well, I saw some chatter on FB about the owners and their alleged mistreatment of staff as well as alleged political affiliations that don't align with my values. Spent two weeks in Indianapolis and came here four times to try their smoothies. Not much of a coffee drinker, but they have amazing smoothies that were refreshing on a hot summer day. My favorite was the strawberry cream smoothie, nice balance of whipped cream and strawberry. read more

Good study place, lots of plugs for laptops and different sized tables :) lots of food and drink options as well. My only problem is that their teas and coffees (maybe not all) are concentrates. I would love to see tea bags or loose leafed tea here, I would come way more often! I see this place as a Starbucks alternative, but even Starbucks had tea bags. read more

I stopped in because I saw they had a Dubai chocolate Matcha. I was greeted when I walked in and I asked how that drink was. The barista told me it was very popular so I ordered it but with Oatmilk. Service was quick and the space was very calm and would be a good place to visit for work or just a friendly meeting place. Went here for a quick breakfast on a Saturday morning. The drinks were great! I got a Bonfire Brew which is a s'more inspired seasonal drink. It was incredible! My boyfriend got an iced caramel latte which was also great! We also got an everything bagel with cream cheese and a breakfast wrap. The wrap was just okay. It could use a little sauce on the side maybe. The bagel was just a classic everything bagel. No complaints there. Service was quick and friendly. The place is decorated really cute. They have a little instagram follower count device that's quite fun to watch flip when you follow them! I would recommend getting any of the drinks from there, but the food is hit or miss. read more

Craving coffee and on the way to work, this place came to mind this morning. I love how they have complimentary parking available, it makes being downtown so much easier. Not to busy, and service was quick. Ordered the Maho hot which is one of their signature drinks, $6 not a bad price. It's toasted coconut flavored with coconut milk, so comforting. Came in the last ten minutes of the day for an afternoon pick-me-up. The shop is spacious and clean; I can see myself doing remote work here. The service was excellent. Got the blueberry foam cold brew at half sweet. It was still too sweet. The blueberry foam was slightly fruity but didn't stand out. Came back the next day for the green tea latte with honey. The honey tasted very floral, unlike any other honey I've had before. It was also very milky. Interesting flavors but unsure if I'd get it again. This place feels like a "coffee is dessert" spot based on their menu. Nice for a treat but not expecting quality or strong coffee here. Again the service is awesome though. read more

I was here for a Yelp event (and had a delicious iced Green Momma and an egg white sandwich), but I picked up a couple of cake pops for my kids, as well. Java House has lots of baked goods, like the aforementioned cake pops, and also scones, muffins, cookies and the like. If you like milky drinks, you should definitely try the Green Momma, which has lots of milk in it and just a hint of green tea. You can get it hot and with whipped cream, but there's only so much dairy my stomach can handle, so I opted for no whipped cream. Java House has lots of places to sit and work, and free wifi. You need to sign in with your email or LinkedIn account, which I've never encountered before, but it's free. What a cute spot. The decor is spot on, and the employees are super friendly and helpful. I got the Bonfire Brew and it was super tasty! But also super sweet, so if you're not into that then I'd probably skip it. I appreciate that they have an outdoor walk up window for ordering. Excellent coffee spot in the heart of downtown Indy! Recently I've stopped at Java House a couple times, each time ordering a specialty coffee along with breakfast sandwich. The Honey Baby is a great not too sweet option, and the Bonfire Brew is a deliciously sweet seasonal beverage as well. Sandwiches like the bacon & egg on a bagel are served flavorful and piping hot. Baristas are kindly, professional, and humorous today in particular! In my latest visit, somehow my name on the receipt came up as "Nerd". The server denied any knowledge, stating "I'm not sure how that name came up". Whether or not it was a deliberate joke, laughs were had on both sides of the counter! I came here for a Yelp event, then came back five days later because it was so good. They have really good flavored iced espresso drinks here. Their black coffee is also pretty good, too. They have a standard selection of decent baked goods, but they warm them up when you order them. That is a very nice touch. It's really nice inside. There is plenty of space to sit and enjoy your coffee. This would be a nice spot for a short date or to sit and read the morning paper. Easy IndyGo redline access (near Vermont street station) and easy parking access via an attached parking garage. It's easy to bike to, but is in dire need of a bike rack out front!! Yum ! Good coffee, nice seasonal choices, and a great breakfast sandwich. The pumpkin spice cold foam cold brew was soooo good. Different than the coffee giant's version we are all accustomed to. This had a small amount of maple flavor in the cold brew, and the cream on top was so fluffy and flavorful it felt like I was having something super indulgent. Breakfast sandwich was good and the caramelized onions kicked it up a notch. I found this location to be clean, well decorated, and inviting. I found a street (meter) spot at 8am without issue, but I believe the garage next door offers 2 hours free parking with a receipt from the business. Overall, lovely spot and I will be back! So crazy how one location and be amazing and other just be ok. Also, I'm a downtown girl and I have to say the location in Broadripple is better! I visited on a Friday around 8am. I was pleased there was plenty of seating and several with outlets because I was going to do a little work for a couple hours. One immediate hurdle however, is parking. Ugh. So it's located on New York Street and parking can be a challenge. Luckily I was dropped off but my friend that was meeting me wasn't and had to circle a few times to get a spot. Of course because it is downtown you have to pay. Beyond that, once in, I was greeted. Everyone looked busy so I'll chalk it up as that. The person that I ordered from was pleasant and helped me decide what I wanted to order. While I frequent the Broadripple location often and I love it. This one lacks a vibe. The coffee is the same, the decor is similar but it just is missing something. The music or just the people or something, I just can't put my finger on it. Although this one is closer I'll opt for Broadripple next time. Oh side note, for a new build I'm surprised they decided to make the restroom men vs women as opposed to being open no matter gender. read more
