Blue Collar Coffee was a great stop for both a morning caffeine fix and a quick breakfast. I really enjoyed some of their creative coffee offerings. The breakfast bites were a nice bonus, especially the egg bites. While they were definitely a winner, I'm still a little partial to Starbucks' version. There are so many reasons to check out Blue Collar Coffee! From the creative seasonal drinks to the welcoming atmosphere, this is one of those spots you really can't go wrong with. I tried the Hot Girl Hydration, and it was absolutely incredible. As an iced latte girl, I couldn't help but notice how many of their seasonal and signature drink options sounded amazing--there are so many I'd love to come back and try. One of my favorite touches was their Pay It Forward wall, where you can purchase a drink for someone else and leave a note on an index card for the recipient. It's such a thoughtful way to spread a little kindness. The space perfectly embraces the Blue Collar theme, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the location couldn't be better--right in the heart of Bottleworks and across from The Garage. This coffee spot is located within the Bottleworks Hotel. I think the brand itself might be a regional chain. When you walk in, there's a pretty sizeable seating area. You're welcome to the counter and order a drink and there's lots of coffee by the bag to purchase. I didn't get a coffee drink on this particular visit, but one of the things I like to do when I discover new cities is to purchase coffee beans. I get a sense of place and that I purchased something from that area while being able to consume it (less clutter/ knick knacks!) The interaction with the folks working here was very minimal. The place is cute, with cool pics of the hotel when it was still a bottling plant. I don't know what time we arrive; it was morning and it was also just before a rush. We lucked out. The quality of service has definitely gone down over the last year. Some workers make me feel like an inconvenience for breaking up their conversation to take my order, while others are friendly and smiley (which is much appreciated!!!). It depends on the day, but I think the baristas play a huge part in cultivating the vibe of a coffee shop and I don't think this place is a favorite anymore. Whatever you do, do not try the butter pecan chai latte. It tastes the way a bath & body works fall candle would smell. It was really hard to put down & I ended up throwing out half of it. Definitely not worth $7.90 The best thing about this place is the location (close to the garage food hall) and there is always ample seating inside. A really cute coffeeshop that probably gets most of its business from people out and about in the Bottleworks area. It has a cool vintage feel to it, and the lattes are super delicious. NOTES: This coffee shop has no dedicated parking lot. The Garage Hall lot - or street parking - is probably closest. April 2025 Update: Now I see they have moved to digitally-printed cup labels which a quick search tells me they now offer order ahead online ordering! This can make Blue Collar Coffee super simple to pick-up - especially if you're off-peak hours when you can get quick street parking. PROS: -Really well-located to a bunch of premier Bottleworks spots. It's attached to the Bottleworks hotel, 50 steps from the front door of the Garage Food Hall, and across the street from Pins too. If you're in the area already, you can pretty easily pop in. -Their lattes were REALLY good! They're much less sweet than Starbucks - but not so unsweetened that they're going the bitter route. Sometimes I'm not particularly fond of boutique coffee, but they're knocking it out of the park here! -Their "Pay It Forward" wall is absolutely adorable. They're utilizing the old "time card" system of the Coke Bottling Plant they're located in. You can "buy" a coffee for "anyone"; the front desk person will then give you a timecard to write on. You can write who the drink is for. Some examples we saw were a "trans woman", "teacher", "nurse", "someone who works outside in the cold". Those people can come into the cafe and "use" those timecards to receive a drink, on you. It seems like a much better system than the usual "I'll pay for the person behind me" you see in cafes. -Tons of low-top, no-arm tables and chairs to sit at. With all of the natural light that streams in here, it feels like it'd be a really calm place to work. -Calm, light music with staff that isn't constantly making noise. Either it's business people having light work conversations here or people working on laptops. It's a pretty quiet space. -The entire cafe has throwbacks to its vintage roots. We're talking the cool timecard system, lots of older photos, industrial logos painted on the walls, and more. The exposed pipes and deep brown wood colors really seal the deal. It feels really cute. -Online ordering! We didn't order anything online, but when I'm in a rush, that can make-or-break whether I'll stop for coffee. CONS: -They close at a semi-reasonable hour for coffee (5pm), but you won't be getting any late-night coffee here. read more

The person taking our order as Blue Collar was very friendly and helpful. Our drinks (and iced latte and an iced americano) and food (sausage breakfast burrito) came out really quickly too. It was pretty spacious inside and I loved that they had a Pay-it-Forward wall where folks can prepay for a drink, put the ticket up on the wall, and another customer can come in and redeem it. Prices are really reasonable too! That all said, we didn't really love our coffees. The beans had pretty fruity notes, which isn't our fave. We usually stay away from drip and cold brews for that reason, and espresso is usually more to our taste, but that wasn't the case here. I thought the breakfast burrito was solid though. It was also very loud in the space. The industrial vibes probably don't give a lot for the sound to bounce off, and it was louder than some bars. We finished our burrito and decided to leave for a place where it was easier to chat. Fortunately there were some comfortable couches available just outside the coffee shop in the elevator lobby, so we were able to sit there to finish up our drinks. read more

You don't have to twist my arm to convince me that there's another reason to check out the Bottleworks District! Blue Collar is so nicely nestled across the way from the very hustley and bustley Garage Food Hall. My coworkers and I grabbed lunch at The Garage and then very conveniently hopped over to Blue Collar for an afternoon caffeine and scone pick-me-up. We got there at about 1PM and it was relatively sparse. Quite a few seating areas were still open for patrons, and the customer is seated were diligently working amongst themselves. I freaking LOVE that you can order a beverage for someone else here! Random acts of kindness are so fantastic! My coworkers are not experience coffee drinkers so the staff was very patient with them when explaining their menu options. You really can make anything here with all of their add-in flavor options. And you know the place is going to be cool when its little gift shop has custom-made Blue Collar socks! I got a good chuckle out of that. Today I went with a large hot chocolate with raspberry add-in and a blueberry scone on the side. My coworker ordered hers extra hot, and the staff gladly obliged. Our pastries were delivered to us fresh out of the microwave and were so comforting on a freezing day. Some of the baristas come off as very rude and short. I am a regular and a few of them are very kind, but others are sometimes rude and dismissive. I came in one day after they had changed their hours, not knowing that they would close at 4 PM when they had previously closed at 5 PM. The manager or shift lead not sure who was very rude and said they couldn't turn on the oven despite being eight minutes before they close I work in a restaurant and I understand it not being nice to walk in right before close, but it is a coffee shop. You guys should have more consideration for people, especially when you change your hours out of nowhere. I will not come back to this coffee place due to the inconsideration and rudeness of one of the manager/shift leads. The barista, however, was very helpful and kind which I appreciate appreciated. I would not recommend working for this place either. They only get paid $10 an hour which you guys are getting scammed. read more

Blue collar coffee company is a wonderful coffee place in the Ironworks Hotel in downtown Indy. I came here to meet people for a Indy Coffee club meetup event, and it was a wonderful ambiance as soon as I walked into the shop. The eclectic decor of wooden walls and the colors made everything stand out in the shop, and make it attractive looking to enjoy relaxing and drinking coffee in the shop. I went up to the counter and a friendly barista greeted me and took my order. I ordered a matcha latte. The barista called my name when it was ready and I picked it up. I took a sip and was disappointed because I could not taste the matcha at all. It was pure milk and nothing else. I tasted it again and it was Ok, but not the best matcha latte I had ever had. I would not recommend getting the matcha latte here, because it is not good at all. I ordered a raspberry hibiscus herbal tea, and it was excellent, so I made up for the matcha latte. The baristas are very professional and customer service savvy, so they do make you feel right at home. They have a feature called "pay it forward" where you take a card and write down the name of a staff member or friend who you would like to buy a coffee for or and stick it in the timecard slot for the staff to retrieve. It is a way to give back to the staff and very clever. Blue Collar coffee co. is a unique coffee house that attracts all people of age and gender, and is a great place to unwind and relax with friends. I would definitely recommend this coffee house to all of my friends,but do not get the matcha latte. I'm sure if someone else makes the matcha latte, it could be better, but I will just have to go back and find out for myself. read more

Great little coffee shop in the heart of the new Bottleworks district. They don't offer a ton new in terms of coffees and food treats. If you're familiar with the standard Starbucks model, then Blue Collar won't surprise you. But there's a nice ambiance and the views from the seating along the window are wonderful. My favorite bit is rather silly. They had a wall made out of doors. The doors seem to go nowhere. I think they just found doors in the factory and used them to partition off a retail space. Staring at them was utterly fascinating! Smoking, for better or worse, is allowed on the deck area. My friend and I started to sit outside, but it was a bit too smokey for her. That might be worth noting if you're a smoker or want to avoid smoke. read more

This is a good spot to grab a cup of coffee if you're in the Bottleworks District. Blue Collar Coffee Co. is attached to the first floor of the Bottleworks Hotel, and is across the street from The Garage food hall. If you're staying at the hotel, there's an entrance that will take you from the lobby area to the coffee shop. Black coffee drinkers, you need to know: The coffee here is very, very strong. Like "OMG I need to add water to this" strong and inky black. I think they brew the coffee for people who are not black drinkers, because when you add a bunch of cream and sugar like most people do, then you'll be able to still taste the coffee. However, if you can't drink a cup of black joe without grimacing, that's not good. So, if you take your coffee black, you might want to consider getting an Americano. I'm just saying. I also got a Rosella Tonic Tea, which was an herbal tea that had hibiscus and lemon in it. Now, this tea was great, and I would definitely get it again. You can get their teas hot or on ice. They also make smoothies. They have a small bakery case here, with muffins, croissants, bagels, scones and cake pops. They also have some to-go containers of what they call "adult Lunchables," with crackers and meats and cheeses, as well as grab-and-go salads. You can also get breakfast sandwiches, porridge and oatmeal. There is lots of indoor seating that is spaced apart, and it looks like a nice place to sit and work (I saw few people doing just that). The breakfast burritos, if you could even call them that, were terrible. We ordered sausage, egg, and cheese. It also had onions and peppers in it which we didn't want and the menu did not indicate. There was maaaaaaybe 1/4 of a sincle scrambled egg in the entire thing. I didn't notice any cheese. It was mostly sausage, pepper, and onion, but mostly just tortilla. Terrible. The caliber of The Bottleworks Hotel definitely deserves something nicer leasing the space within their hotel. read more

My buddy and I got friendly service and picked up a fantastic honey matcha and black coffee. The black straight stuff was real fine. My friend thought mine tasted like sweet grass, which is exactly correct and why I always enjoy a well balanced tea. The prices and food seem well matched. There's easy parking around the area though I can see this place becoming frustrating during high tide on weekends. Love this cute little coffee shop! They are right in the hotel next to the garage food hall, so great location! The staff was very friendly and informative on all their coffee and tea options. That may sound silly to mention, but I do not live near any cute smaller coffee shops so my only options on a regular basis, are what Starbucks offers. At Blue Collar Coffee they had so many teas that I have never even heard of and also all the milk alternatives! They also actually keep their oat milk stocked (you know who you are if this is important to you ) but that is huge to me. They will warn you if the milk option you chose won't work with what you ordered, so I appreciated that! Seriously, check this place out!! Less than polite, need training on customer service. Nobody greeted me (place was empty). I paid with credit card. She handed me a small clipboard, with receipt attached to sign, but my credit card was missing. Before I signed, I asked, "Where's my card?" (Wouldn't it normally be returned with the clipboard and receipt to sign?). She acted sort of taken aback. I asked again, "Where is my card." She pointed to it, laying on the other side of the counter from me, out of my sight. I said, "Can I have it (credit card) please? She acted offended. I asked her again, she handed it to me and acted quickly walked away, never said thank you. She acted upset. I waited on my drink. When I received my latte, neither her, or the barista thanked me. This place is new. Maybe they're just not up to speed yet. But I recommend training on customer service: Greet the customer with a smile, introduce the menu (it's new to the customer), offer to answer questions, give the credit card back to the customer with the clipboard and receipt to sign.
