It was 8 pm and my daughter found Happy Sushi on line and said let's try it. We were worried about getting there so close to close 8:30, but hoped for the best. They welcomed us in! It was very clean and organized. Not a lot of seating. We got several sushi rolls, noodles and some ramen. It was excellent. The owned stopped by the table to talk to my daughter with the busted arm and made her feel better. We will definitely be making stops here in the future. Thanks so much Happy sushi!!!!!

There was definitely some "bad" fish (tasted old) in the rolls, which fell completely apart the moment you attempted to pick them up. Ambiance? The large bowl of rice sitting outside the bathroom was a bad look. The server was nice enough, but the best service in the world could not offset the poor quality of the food. I have had better sushi from the grocery store and from Sam's Club. The saddest part? I had been wanting to try "the best sushi in Springfield" for the last two years! For your reference- we had 4 rolls- spicy tuna, Alaska roll (salmon), French kiss (shrimp tempura, crab, salmon), and Caribbean orgazam (soft shell crab, salmon). There was not a good roll in the bunch. Seriously, this is not the place to go for sushi.

The food came out fast and hot, there was ample seating and parking, and really it's all about the food! The ambiance is a little... stale, but the food more than makes up for it! I also didn't love the music they had going, but I still won't lower my five-star rating! Ha!

That said I've now tried three different and creative takes on ramen here and have liked each one more than the last - making it the real star of the show here. First it was the Chicago-style Italian beef with giardineira, then the spicy beef birria style, then my surprise fave, the Mega City bowl with chicken curry, peanuts and 3 potsticker dumplings on top! The service is fast and efficient in a venue (the back half of the VFW) that clearly lacks ambiance. The prices are admittedly a bit steep (except for domestics at the back bar) but you will be blown away by the flavors and you certainly won't walk away hungry. My only other advice....try not to ruin the shirt you have on when you go, in fact you might care to bring or fashion a bib, cuz most of these flavors will leave permanent stains!

I may have gone into this with too high of expectations because of what I heard about the epiphany…read moregroup and that may have been unfair of me. But that being said there were a lot of GREAT things about this restaurant so I'll start there. The restaurant itself it's so moody and vibey I LOVED it, was such a good place for a date night, our waiter was so attentive, helped with all of our questions and a very patient with us as we worked through the menu. 10/10 service! We got the dumpling and pork bun appetizer and both were AMAZING, seriously the pork bun?? I could have eaten 1000 of them. Next was the sushi, I got the Atlantic hand roll and another member of the table got the rainbow roll, both were very fresh and flavorful, highly recommend. Next was the entree, I got the pork belly ramen, as a huge ramen fanatic I was SO excited, especially following up our appetizers, the bar was set high and unfortunately I was so disappointed. The broth was not very good and everything so extremely salty, I couldn't even eat the mushrooms in the bowl because they soaked up so much of the broth and it was like a salt bomb in my mouth. The pork belly was cooked well and I did really enjoy that, but for a $20 bowl of ramen, it really fell flat for me. I also got the sweet heat cocktail, and it also wasn't for me, cocktails are so personal so it's not that I wouldn't recommend someone try it, it's just that I didn't hit for me, and that was the general consensus of the table. While I had a great night, I would probably try a different restaurant for Asian food before I came back to this one!

I had checked out the menu before going and knew I wanted to pick three different tacos to try and was able to do that with their undecided option. I went fried fish, Korean BBQ steak, and roasted cauliflower. I also wanted to try their street corn. Taco one: Fried fish with chipotle remoulade, pickled red cabbage, avocado. I took one of the pieces of fish off and one of the tortillas to save for later and it was perfect with a crispy fried fish, delicious pickled cabbage (I love pickled veggies!!) and the sauce. I asked for extra pickled veggies and remoulade to go to be able to dress up my leftovers with all of those amazing flavors! Taco two: Korean BBQ Steak, pickled cabbage salsa, Asian pear, and cilantro. Perfection! The steak was tender and flavorful. I've only had Asian pears in sushi rolls and it was the perfect crunch and burst of freshness on this taco. Taco three: Roasted Cauliflower. Curried cauliflower, black beans, seasonal pickled veggies, spicy tomatillo salsa, and cilantro. I'm a fan of all the different ways cauliflower is being served these days and this taco did not disappoint. The side of street corn was also delicious. I used their house hot sauce on a few bites too and that was really good. I must go now and eat my leftovers as writing this review has me salivating for more. PS I've already picked out the next three tacos I want to get!!! :-)
