The coffee's were so cold when ordered hot and went back to have it warmed up, my latte has no caffeine whatsoever. I know I'm not in Italy to expect just milk when ordered latte but whatever. The meat in burritos was chewy from microwaving prerolled burritos. read more

One of our less than handful dining out during our vacation, and we knew this place was very good last time and we were glad to see they were open. Got Sausage burritos, avocado toast with bacon and tomatoes, turkey panini, mango smoothie, iced and hot mochas and lattes. All we're delicious and fresh. We stopped here for lunch and they had some really good sandwiches! Their BLT with the spicy chipotle mayo was really tasty, my sister said the #14 (I forget the name) but it was essentially a chicken, bacon and cheese panini was delicious, and my dad also said the turkey club pesto panini was really good and large for the price. Only complaint would be that I wish they had more variety of chips then just regular sea salt to come with the sandwiches. read more

Well, I guess all good things must come to an end. We've been stopping into Java Moose for years now to get a breakfast burrito and coffee on our way up to our cabin. The breakfast burritos were so good and addicting. But no more... They changed vendors for the burrito and it was Terrible! First it was served barely warm (semi cold) and served on a paper lined basket (that you might use for a sandwich). So when you try to cut the smothered burrito with a fork, you break the paper and wind up eating parts of that too. They used to serve them on a paper plate. But the burrito is just NOT as good as they used to be, the green chili they smother it with didn't seem as good either. so won't order either again. Service is still decent (although a bit more hit and miss) and coffee is good. But super bummed they screwed this up. Oh well....I don't need the calories anyway. read more

We got breakfast and lattes here multiple times. The lattes are very good! They were very busy and short staffed but I feel that our wait times were reasonable. It is a cute place and the staff were very nice and friendly. They did forget our lattes one day and gave us an extra tasty treat for the inconvenience. read more

Unfortunately it was the only coffee stop on our route but in the future i'd rather wait up for another hour to get coffee. The coffee tasted water down in my partners and I drinks. A lady walked in with no mask inconsiderately and they didn't enforce her to wear one. Staff wasn't friendly either. Just an all around disappointment. read more

I passed thru Fairplay on way to Gunnison and used EV charging station. While waiting I went for lunch at your site. I was very excited when I discovered you served gf hoagies but all excitement soon disappeared when I was given my sandwich. Were you out of ingredients? The sandwich contained the correct ingredients but barely any of them. It was more a mouthful of bread and pesto spread. NOT worth the $14 dollars I paid. But the pesto spread is delicious! read more

Just a couple of blocks from US-285, it was a welcome surprise to find this nice cozy coffee/sandwich shop in the mountains where lunch choices are scarce. Their specialty sandwiches are thoughtfully composed and mine was delicious. I had the BLAT and it didn't disappoint. My husband had a passable turkey, artichoke, tomato sandwich. Both were served with a choice of pasta or potato salads, or Miss Vickie potato chips. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Very nice people and appreciated their dedication to safety by wearing masks and requiring masks if you stepped inside to use the bathroom. AMBIANCE: Very convenient walk-up window to order and a few outside tables. At the time of this review no inside seating was available. Avoid at all costs. A group of four of us were driving back to Denver from Crested Butte yesterday, and thought this looked like a nice place to stop for a bite to eat. Boy were we wrong. The service is the worst any of us had ever experienced. There was no line when our group arrived and ordered, but it took well over a half hour for our sandwiches to come out. Then, when the server brought us our food, he dropped one of the plates, causing one of the sandwiches we ordered to fall onto the ground outside. The manager was on his way out (for break, presumably) and saw this happen. As he should have, he told the server to go "make it right". The server said OK, and ran inside. We assumed this meant he would go in and put in an order for another sandwich - you know, because that's how it works when the server drops your food at any other restaurant on Earth. Twenty minutes later, the rest of us had finished our sandwiches (which are OK at best. $8 for a BLT, are you kidding me? Also, the extra $1.50 for a side salad is NOT worth it unless you are a fan of low-quality, brown lettuce). With no other contact from the server, we went inside and asked the manager on duty (different guy than the one who told the server to "make it right") if the server who dropped our food had, in fact, put in an order for another sandwich? This "manager" then proceeded to laugh in our faces and say "That's not what he (the server) told me had happened! He said you guys dropped it AFTER he handed the plate to you. I can put another ticket in, but you'll have to pay for it." So to recap, the server dropped our food, ran away, lied to his manager, and the manager said it was our fault and that we would have pay for a replacement. What a great establishment you guys have here. Will not be coming back under any circumstances. You all have been warned. read more

my boyfriend and I stopped for coffee on our way out of town. his cold brew tasted watered down, and my latte didn't have any shots in it. it was fully white, no beige coloring like normal when you add shots. when my boyfriend went up and asked about it, the ginger haired woman working rolled her eyes and asked if he wanted an additional shot in the already made latte. If it's inconvenient to help a reasonable customer, maybe find another job? reading reviews, this isn't the first time somebody has complained of there being no shots and all milk. we will not be back. read more

The Good: The food was ok. There is some beautiful photos decorating the dining room. The logo and general "vibe" of the place is cool and looked like a great place to grab a quick lunch en route to another Colorado adventure. The Bad: 45 minutes to get our sandwiches. Out of the six sandwiches, four of them were made incorrectly. (Nothing elaborate ordered. Only one deviated from the menu when we asked for no mayonnaise. The other three were kids ham and cheese that were missing the cheese.). We had to ask for to go boxes to eat while driving because we had sat for so long. The Ugly: Talking to the cashier and kitchen staff felt like we were speaking to the wall. Very short and rude answers were given while ordering and then later asking for the cheese that belonged on our kids' sandwiches. The attitude extended to other patrons that dared be so demanding as to ask for a fork. I normally only leave reviews for great restaurants and just ignore the bad ones. However on this one you need to stay away. read more

Stopped for lunch on the way through Fairplay. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent selection of sandwiches and very good iced coffee and iced chai. Ham and Swiss was excellent. The club was delicious. We were able to eat outside with our two dogs. Highly recommended. read more

To the two uber-friendly ladies of Java Moose Cafe: a big THANK YOU for helping us top off our excellent ski day with delicious hot drinks! Soon after leaving the mountains, we both felt like getting something to-go at 4:30PM, and we were thrilled to see that Java Moose still had their "Open" sign turned on. Warning: CASH ONLY. The coffee shop is in a cute little building with funky lettering. The gals effusively welcomed us and made easy-going small talk as we decided on our order. We added a homemade sweet to our order (which, though gooey-er than expected, was HEAVENLY). Even though we were in a hurry to drive back home to COS, our delicious mocha and hot chocolate forced us to relax and enjoy the drinks on the road. They were delicious, rich, and perfect. My drink mellowed me out so much that I felt only serene puzzlement when some stranger in an SUV randomly flipped us off as we passed him on US-24 (as the driver, I promise I didn't do anything to deserve it - no tailgating, flashing lights, etc, even going the speed limit cuz there were lots of cops out and about! I chalk it up to his jealousy of my turbo and Blizzaks as we quickly left him behind). Oh yeah, the co-ed restroom is tiny but clean, and in the back was a sitting area if one wanted to enjoy their drinks. Recommend that if you're looking for a café in South Park, stop into Java Moose! Ok, I'm not sure why people don't rate places based on the context of their location, but this is one of the few places you can even get a coffee let alone a mocha within 20 miles and it did a good job. The real standout here was the last minute decision to try their homemade quiche which was outstanding and a complete surprise. The coffee was quite good, and the proprietor was talkative and friendly. A local kid came in and used the Internet terminal for a few minutes without buying anything or getting harassed which was nice to see a bit of "community" in action. It is small but so is the town and it certainly wasn't crowded at the time, but it brought a bit of big town luxury in a small town environment. Went in on a Saturday morning and as expected it was pretty busy. We took my mom for her birthday because on their website it says they have eggs Benedict (her fave), but when we got there it wasn't on the menu. So we decided to order vegetarian breakfast burritos, but they said they were out of those (not sure how that's possible at 8:30am on a Saturday ). Then we order a bagel with egg and cheese and after waiting for 20 mins and seeing the people that were in line after us get their orders, we ask about the bagel, and come to find out they "lost the ticket". We got our money back and a half-hearted "sorry bout that". Won't be back, that was an hour we won't get back. read more
