    Beer Flight
    Stefanie C.

My partner and I arrived in Fairplay before the rest of our group, so we decided to grab food and drinks at Highside. There's the bigger, more well-known one down the street but I took a gamble on Highside, and it paid off. I think they're originally in Frisco (so I'll have to visit next time I'm there) but we were basically the only customers right before close. The bartender was fantastic. He and I experimented with so many "married drafts" (mixing beers together) in addition to the flight of 6 beers I started with. What an adventure! His adorable pup made everything even better. The biggest surprise was how much I liked the Night Skiing stout. I'm not normally a stout girlie. Peach Gose Way was delicious, too. I'm usually the type of person who almost exclusively drinks IPAs, but Highside showed me the light. Colorado BBQ has a "residency" inside the brewery, so it was easy to relax for a few hours while ordering delicious smoked meats and enjoying craft beers. Would totally come here next time I'm in Fairplay... whenever that ends up being!

There were a couple people in the brewery when we get there but the building capacity is pretty large, so it can look empty. They have board games, pool, and arcade games. I also enjoyed the art. They also have several TVs with sports or shows. The one staff member was friendly and efficient. Several people also came in to buy beer to go. They also have a canning kit to can larger crowlers. Each beer price varies. The prices aren't displayed. They do six 4 ounce beers in a flight. It was about $15. The beer was decent. Most of them were pale ale or ipas. They were somewhat unique. One was woody. One was very piney. The Senior Guide was my favorite. They also have two other locations. Quality wise they were close to South Park, South Park's just being more traditional.

This may be my new favorite place! Too bad I live 10 hrs away from it!!! The "Porker" bbq sandwich was phenomenal, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere is so fun, and they allow dogs![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Awesome!

Is more than 5 stars possible??? I cannot express how wonderful Kerby, Josh, and the entire staff was! They were SLAMMED but everything was top notch and the service was impeccable. My husband and I sat at the bar and watched as they greeted every person that walked in and greeted every customer by name. Even with a long line, they made sure every person was taken care of and treated with the utmost respect. As a person just vacationing in FairPlay - I am impressed!

What a great spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool atmosphere, excellent service by our beertender Kirby, great music, and the food was very satisfying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love trying different beers so the flight was the perfect choice for me. I tried three of their Pilsner style beers and three of their IPA style beers ... loved them all. Looking forward to coming back!

Was greeted promptly upon entering and directed to the bar to place a to go order. I had limited time because had to catch a bus. The ambiance was fun with TV screens around to watch various sporting events. I was watching A&M get beat by Miami while waiting for my food order to be prepared. They have the silver brewery tanks where they brew their beer on site behind the bar area. They had a bunch of unique brews but I am not a beer person. I found a seat at the bar and the bartender came to take my order. I mentioned that I was on a time crunch with having to catch the bus in approximately 35 minutes and just wanted to check to see if the kitchen could accommodate my schedule. I was a bit taken aback when he responded that he couldn't guarantee anything and the electricity could go out.... So I was going to pass on ordering, but then he said we better get my order in then. So I put in an order for fish and chips. Then he said the kitchen should not have a problem accommodating that time window. He brought me some water and I enjoyed watching the football game while I waited for my to-go order. The food was ready in plenty of time for me to make it to the bus stop. It was packed nicely and came in a paper bag. I was able to enjoy it at the bus stop. Fish and Chips with Avalanche Ale battered white fish, fries, tartar. The fish has a nice batter but was a bit bland and could have used more salt or other seasoning. It really needed the tartar sauce to complete the flavor profile. The fries were light and crispy. Overall the food was what I would expect from a brewery. Nice place to go in breck to enjoy beer and food while watching a sporting event.

I honestly don't like leaving bad reviews, but this experience was terrible…read more I ordered mac and cheese with chili and pork, and what came out looked like plain microwaveable Kraft mac and cheese. There was no chili, no pork, nothing -- just basic mac and cheese that tasted like it came straight out of a box. My friend ordered a burger that was supposed to come with lettuce, blue cheese, and the works. Instead, it arrived with just chicken and bread. That was it. No toppings at all. The water we were given was also incredibly dirty -- it literally looked grey. Service somehow managed to be both overwhelming and nonexistent. While we were eating, the waiter came back to the table every couple of seconds so we couldn't even have a conversation. But when we were actually ready for the check, suddenly there was no waiter anywhere and we fwaited about 15 minutes. On top of that, every request got mixed up. I asked for blue cheese and after about 10 minutes the waiter came back with ranch. Then I asked for lemon vinaigrette (which the meal was supposed to come with) and instead got honey mustard. After explaining again, she came back with... even more honey mustard. We also paid $10 for fries with green chili and received about 15 fries. And one more thing when paying they did NOT bring my card back for about 20 minutes. It was also extremely dark where we were sitting all of the surrounding lights were off but everywhere else in the resteraunt was perfectly fine Overall the food quality, service, and attention to orders were extremely disappointing. Definitely not an experience I'd repeat don't waste your money here.

There was absolutely no way we were driving past the Frisco exit without pulling off. Outer Range is our ultimate mountain pit stop. They have an awesome location with a stunning modern build and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh mountain air. It is wild to think that we just visited their sister location in the French Alps during our recent European travels. The fact that they can maintain total excellence across two different continents is unreal. The two spots are completely equal, and the Colorado taproom continues to prove why they are world-class. The beers were spectacular as always. We started out with a couple of pints of their New England-style juice. In the Steep is a masterclass in the style with a beautiful, pillowy mouthfeel and heavy tropical notes. Sun in the Clouds was just as impressive. It delivers those bright citrus flavors without the aggressive hop bitterness. I even noticed Cross Flow on the tap list, which is a fresh, hazy collaboration they just put out with Casey Brewing. Before packing back into the truck, we made sure to grab a new metal tacker to hang up in the garage. We also snagged a four-pack of Lil John Wayne. The can art is easily the funniest label on the shelf, but the actual beer is a solid ten out of ten. To fuel the final stretch of the drive home, we ordered from Bird Craft right inside the brewery. They do not cut corners here. They are frying up full wings, including the drummies and the flippers, and they will toss them in any of their house sauces for an incredible snack. The skin stays remarkably crispy even under a thick coat of sauce, and the meat stays perfectly juicy. It is exactly the kind of savory comfort food you need after a long road trip. Every single time we stop by this place, they manage to completely knock it out of the park.

They have a "Thai-ish" fried chicken spot as their food vendor, which is pretty good. Their pork belly fried rice and bird bowl was also good. Decent spot if you're in the area, tough to get a spot on weekends (find your own table as people leave).
