My wife really likes this place, but I am not really into coffee houses. She invited me to go with her this past Thursday and since I like her company I decided to go. I don't drink coffee, so she convinced me to try one of their teas. I decided on the Dragon Fire Oolong Tea. After our order we went outside to sit on the porch which had comfortable seating and shade. When our orders were brought to the table I was impressed with the presentation. My hot tea came with a timer so I could make sure it did not steep too long. The glass I poured the tea into was an interesting design to keep it hot longer. The tea had an excellent flavor. I had a very enjoyable visit with my wife and enjoyed the experience. I look forward to the next time she invites me along so I can try one of the other teas. read more

I was needing coffee so bad this morning. I remembered reading about this place on Facebook and decided to give it a shot. I will tell you that this place has the absolute BEST customer service. I was greeted immediately and assisted with what choice of coffee would be best for me and my need coffee mood. I was even looking at their teas because my mother was ill and told to try tea for soothing. Again, outstanding customer service for helping me decide. I've visited so many coffee venues in my travels and Java Owl Coffee House is my all time favorite place. The decor and welcoming relaxing atmosphere always brighten my day and bring my blood pressure down. The Staff is energetic, efficient, helpful and friendly. The proprietor is part of the service staff and the nicest person alway has a nice word or two while bringing your coffee to you. My favorite drink is the Lavender Latte which I customize without complaints from the staff. Oh forgot to mention the music... I'm not sure but local musician/ customers occasionally perform. The cafe also decorate their walls with local art that are for sale (almost bought one if my family did not rush me out the door). I really hope Java Owl survive this COVID-19 economic crisis..... can't wait to go back over Christmas! read more

A real lifesaver, this place, for so many reasons. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere and decor contribute to a good environment to relax, visit with friends, or work. I also like their choice in music which ranges from 70's to 80's pop and rock, and is played at a reasonable volume such that you can choose to listen to it or ignore it--not like other coffee shops I've visited in the Clear Lake area, where in some cases, the music is jarring and blaring to the point it's difficult to have a conversation with someone. They also serve beer and wine in case you want to switch after a long day of work, and they certainly encourage people to do so if they wish. In the latter case, you can have an all-day cup of coffee for a dollar over the regular price. This is a real boon to me as a writer, since I've been known work on projects for a number of hours. They don't have a kitchen, but they serve pastries, cupcakes, and cookies along with packages of flavored oatmeal for an early day. They also serve a meat and cheese board with crackers, cucumbers, and fruit as an alternative. Another nice touch is they bring your drinks and food to you if not immediately available, so they're not hollering at customers to get their orders. To sum up, it's the best coffee house in the Clear Lake area. read more

Today was my first visit to Java Owl Coffee House and I absolutely loved it. I met a couple friends up there for some coffee. Java Owl is a treasure. It is hard to find a coffee shop that is friendly enough for people who just want a cup of coffee, but technically savvy enough to offer coffee/espresso/pourover/etc aficionados just exactly what they want. John and the rest of the friendly staff will not only remember you, but they will answer questions and even try to source special orders from local roasters (if you are weird like me and like light roast or decaf espresso).
