When I pulled up to the window, my drink was not ready yet, but Alma immediately engaged me in conversation while I waited. We talked coffee, her favorite 7 Brew drinks, matcha, and even how it was Swag Day at another location in Texas City and how the shirts are so cute. She was so warm and genuine that I completely forgot there was a wait. I truly appreciated stepping out of the hustle and bustle for a moment and just connecting with someone. Alma's energy, passion, and ability to make customers feel welcomed will absolutely bring me back. I do not live in the area, but anytime I am taking my daughter to cheer and need a pick me up, I will be stopping at 7 Brew all because of Alma.

As a customer, this is unacceptable behavior as a good businesses doesn't throw employees away and then cover it up with gossip and contradictions. If this is how they treat management internally, I can only imagine how disposable regular employees are considered. It says a lot about a company when they can't treat loyal employees with honesty or respect. Customers only see the drinks -- they don't see the toxic management culture behind the counter. Potential employees should think twice before applying here. Drinks aren't worth supporting a workplace culture like that.

I glanced around and saw that every table inside WAS seated, however there were many tables outside that were empty. I asked about the patio stating that us where we preferred to sit anyway, and was met with that they were also not seating the patio at all for the rest of the day. However, there was a group of 3 women seated outside on the patio at that exact time. I didn't say anything, simply turned and left. After having "one of those days" hashing out something so minute with a person who clearly didn't want us in their place of business was not something I was about to do. Keep in mind, we came on a Sunday afternoon. Prime brunch time. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30PM, and their website says they don't close until 4PM. I am a biracial black woman and my friend is white. I noticed a significant amount of White and Latino patrons, but a shocking lack of Black people. With Houston having one of the most diverse populations in the US, it is almost impossible not to see at least one individual of each ethnicity in a place at any given time. I am definitely not one that likes to pull the race card, because oftentimes that is not the issue. However, as someone who is familiar with the service industry I understand Sundays can be extremely overwhelming. And I am cognizant that not everything is that serious. But, I am also aware that a lot of people in the industry discriminate against people of color, with stigmas that we don't leave enough gratuity or we "don't fit the vibe of their establishment". And those 3 women seated on the patio? All White. After reading recent reviews, it seems that management is discriminating against people of color, more specifically Black folks. This is an extremely disheartening and sickening realization to make, seeing as I have given well over $1,000 worth of my money here but also enjoyed many meals without issue. To management: It breaks my heart to have to write this review and to be honest, I wouldn't have written it if I hadn't seen others posting about similar experiences in addition to also feeling discriminated against. I highly suggest that if you are "not seating" after a specific time, you announce this via social media or alert potential patrons with a sign or something of the sort. & obviously, there is such an issue with treatment towards POC that it is a noteworthy problem via your Google & Yelp reviews. You will have a much bigger fish to fry on your hands if you continue to let this issue go on unrectified. I would be willing to return if I felt things were to be changed for the better in the future! Hopefully this review sparks a much needed conversation and brings attention to an area which needs work.
