First a disclosure - I am a Starbucks shareholder and support the brand most always. Java Stop provides one of the few exceptions. A great local institution. Other reviewers describe the owner Kevin's sense of humor as quirky - if by quirky they mean obscure, juvenile, and silly, then yes I agree and approve. Coffee is good, brownies and cookies (my preference is the oatmeal) are great. But the best thing on the menu is the breakfast burrito - I recommend the ham with medium salsa. YUM! read more

Oh god these people are so awesome and the coffee is so good! They don't take cards (as of yesterday) but I'm sure that's right around the corner. Bring your phone for a wifi hotspot cuz there's no wifi yet either. The java here is fantastic. Whoever does their bean selection knows their business, and they whip up the concoctions quickly, with skill, and the friendliest freaking demeanor I've ever seen. The interior is very set-of-Friends-TV-show-ish, lots of eclectic mismatched furniture and a lot of sedate, pleasant clientele. I enjoyed my brief visit here immensely just because of the qualities I mentioned and will certainly be back when I don't have so much crap to do. read more

Great shop! It hits all the right notes for me. Anybody who reads my posts knows I fuss about my coffee. Here I had a perfectly proportioned, well-made Cappuccino on one occasion and well-pulled espresso on another. A good espresso, well-roasted and pulled, stands on its own with no sugar. Java Stop's espresso hits that, making me a happy guy. The pastries, made on the premises, are inventive and as high-quality as you might find at a more commercial bakery--but are whimsical and homemade at the same time. Breakfast burrito on yet another occasion was superb with a heat-index that challenged this New Yorker's taste buds. Java Stop gets the 5th star for a chill, funky vibe and engaging service. Kevin's sense of humor is bizarre, veering from George Carlin and Stan Freeberg(!) references to his own unique take on life, the universe, and everything else. Ellen is down-to-earth and engaging. If you're on the way through town, you should definitely stop in to this unique, independent coffee shop. If you're in Boulder, you should make the trip up. read more

I'll just add on to the already tremendous reviews that Javastop has received. This is, very nearly, the perfect coffee shop. Hidden away inside of an historical building, the space is open, colourful, and inviting. The folks working the counter/kitchen were extremely friendly and inviting. I didn't partake in any food, but the coffee was good and plentiful (both of the utmost importance for this coffee drinker). Javastop is a great place to sit and socialize, to work quietly, or even just to run in for a quick cup of black gold. Highly recommended. read more

I stopped here on my way through town this morning and filled up a cup of java from the self service area where you get regular coffee. It was Allegro coffee, not usually my favorite brand, but i was sleepy and had a long drive ahead. After I ordered, I realized that I had no cash and usually independent cafe's have a minimum charge for credit cards. When i explained that I didn't have cash, the proprietor told me not to worry about it. What a cool place! I am so used to cafe's with staff that won't even acknowledge a tip unless it's 25% that it is still a big surprise to me. Oh yeah, the interior was inviting and relaxed and coffee was good too. I will definitely go back next time i'm in Longmont. read more

The owners are amazing which just matches the quality of their food, coffee, and baked goods! We had raspberry mochas topped with their homemade whipped cream and veggie burritos.... OMG YUM. The quality of the food is exceptional and the burrito was delightful! We left with a slice of chocolate espresso pound cake on recommendation from one of the owners and my fiancé and I are trying to figure out a way to ration it until we can go back to Java stop again!!!! The best Bagel and Lox in town! Kevin puts all the fixins' on the plate and you build it the way you want. Don't have the cash at the moment for whatever reason? No problem! Just settle up the next time you pop in. Be forewarned, you may encounter a Liberal or two reading a book. Great coffee and the personalities of the help and owners Kevin and Ellen are beautiful and humorous if need be. These 2 cater to the public and enjoy their business, which makes a difference. The atmosphere is carefree and relaxing like an older house redone - excellent coffee caring the Allegro brand coffees and teas...Kevin even starting making Espresso brownies for me...yumm!! Tastes almost like cream cheese in there! Reasonably priced. Parking sucks, but managable for short term - not an extremely place all the time so is feasible to find descent parking 70% of the time. read more

I have a crazy love of this place. Everything I've had tastes good, they have a good selection of non-coffee drinks (natural sodas, etc.) it's decorated with things I love, and the owner is hilariously quirky. The downsides are that it is cash-only, they do not actually have wireless internet, and they close at 2 in the afternoon. These downsides keep me from hanging out there for too long...otherwise I'd be there all day. Their bagels are insanely good/cheap, and their breakfast sandwich is TO DIE FOR. read more

I love this shop! Incredibly friendly owners who are not only laidback but also so sweet! The coffee is fresh and robust. I don't love their chais though. I'm not a huge fan of the chai because they make it using their own special blend. They ask you questions to modify your chai before making it, but I still wasn't a fan. read more

This place is great! It is the kind of coffee shop you would have found in Boulder back in the day before it became a yuppy haven. The atmosphere is great. Laid back, friendly with good vibes. The homemade breakfast burrito was truly fantastic and the homemade green salsa even better. It tasted like fresh cilantro had been put through a juicer and mixed with chopped green chiles and onions. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The "mom" told me that they only take cash or "old school credit - meaning you pay us back next time" and she told me that the first time I walked into the place. Wow, it was like stepping into a portal that brought me back to a time where people had a sense of community. The coffee is good. Its from allegro - basically what you find at Whole foods but not as burnt. I haven't had much else from there but I'm sure I'll like it. Walked into a small quaint coffee shop. Could not have been more satisfied with our service. The coffee that we were pouring kicked and the owner politely asked if we could wait a minute. He brewed another pot, shared his homemade espresso pound cake with us and chatted it up. We are visiting the area and he couldn't have been more helpful with directions and things to do. Any place that is this hospitable and customer friendly deserves five stars! The only reason for 4 is because it needs a little TLC and comfy furniture. My cousin and aunt brought me here for a light breakfast. What wonderful proprietors, a what a great place! They specialize in great coffee and home-cooked pastries; only the bagels they sell are made elsewhere. Breakfast was delicious, and one of their espresso-nut-chocolate-chip cookies helped keep me awake the next day as I drove home. (I live a *long* ways away.) We moved to Lafayette, and Java Stop is one of the only plavces I miss stopping in at. His food is excellent. The coffee cakes which he also makes gluten free are superb. I can never turn them down, same with his muffins. He makes nearly everything from scratch!!
