Free parking at her studio and fairly easy to find her studio space. Got my dress back sooner than expected and I couldn't be happier! A couple of fyi's to make your life easier: she doesn't send any confirmation emails so make sure you write down your appointment date if you make an appointment over the phone. Also be prepared to wait a tad in the event that the client scheduled before you is running behind schedule. Would highly recommend her overall. I found Javonica on Yelp when looking for someone to alter my wedding dress. All the other shops seemed to nickel-dime you the time of the alterations but Javonica was very reasonable and very patient. I did a total of 3 fittings. I couldn't believe how long each fitting took (2 hours!) but I assume that's just because I had never been through the process before. She gently gave me her opinions without forcing me into a decision, so it was a good collaboration. FYI her workspace lighting could be brighter, so I would try to schedule the fittings during the day when you have the natural light as well. Javonica is the absolute best! My now husband and I decided on a destination elopement this past December and I found my dress two weeks before we left for California. I called Javonica the day I found my dress and she saw me for a fitting that same night. I had one other fitting with her and both times she was very patient and accommodating. Javonica is absolutely wonderful! I came here to get a long, formal dress hemmed, and I will certainly return for future alterations. During my initial appointment, she spent a good half hour with me measuring and pinning the dress. First, she pinned it to the length that I thought I wanted, but being indecisive, I asked her to pin it to a shorter length. Once I decided that I liked the longer, original pinned length better, she pinned it like that AGAIN just to make sure it was what I wanted. She has so much patience and was extremely kind throughout the process. I did not feel rushed at all. I was able to pick the dress up a week later, and Javonica insisted that I try it back on to ensure that I liked the new length. It was perfect. I also loved that she called me to confirm that the dress was finished before I went to pick it up--I've had too many negative alterations experiences where I've made a trip to pick up a garment only to learn that it isn't ready yet. My initial appointment with Javonica was great and I trusted her with my dress. My dress needed minimal alterations and she told me it would be ready within a certain time frame. When that day came, she requested a day or two to work on my dress which was reasonable. When I followed up with her, she told me my dress was not ready because she has been busy and dealing with employee issues. Again, I was kind but reasonably I started getting concerned. She requested I come in at 7 pm to try on the dress. When I went in, she had just started working on my dress at 730 pm. The straps were already cut short and not where they were meant to be. I kindly asked her that I'll return the next day so she can have more time during the day with my dress. It was excuse after excuse with employee/personal issues and when I finally picked up the dress, it seemed like the job was rushed and I had to take it to another seamstress to redo what had been done. read more
