JLH Construction and Design recently completed an extensive renovation of our home. Every space of the house was renovated including a complete kitchen reconfiguration, bathrooms were remodeled and all the living areas were updated. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems were all upgraded as well. The quality workmanship and attention to detail that JLH Construction completed the work with is one that we thought was of a bygone era. True artisans who not only know their craft but love practicing it too! We considered several contractors for our project, some of whom presented a lower bid. Ultimately, we chose JLH Construction because of the craftsmanship and integrity they presented during the bidding process and we were never anything but thrilled with our choice. Throughout the construction process, the Owner, Justin Harbinson was not only on the job site every day, but a hands-on artisan as well. His wife Lisa was also incredibly helpful with the selection of finishes and design portion of the project. We knew the entire crew by name and always felt comfortable with his crew and subcontractors being in our home. We definitely felt that everyone associated with JLH Construction didn't view our project as just another job, but took pride in delivering our dream home. As all professional and licensed contractors, it was very simple to do business with Golden State Stucco. Kirk conducted a free estimate walk through of the project and provided a fast around time with the proposal. The price was very competitive and met my budget. Once I approved it, they immediately set a date and they showed up on time and began work right away. This project took two weeks to complete. On the first day: - They torn down my horrid wood panels from the 1970's and clean up any old / loose debris. Completed visual inspection for any terminate or major dry rot. - Laid out the Jumbo Tex weather-resistive barrier and wire mesh netting. - Applied the scratch coat and add on metal window barriers to secure the existing windows. For the next week and a half: Allowed the scratch coat to cure; keeping it damp by periodically misting with water from my garden hose. As with all scratch coats, slow, damp curing provides the greatest strength. Allow the coat to dry slowly. That's the secret! On the final day: - Applied the new stucco and matched my existing texture. I was very pleased that they were able to match it. At first, I was worried... but Kirk took care of me. - Cleaned up all their mess and made sure my front yard landscaping wasn't damaged. I've worked with some poor contractors that didn't care about their work surroundings. In this case, I was very impressed with their attention to detail. Today, I am proud to have them as one of many Elite contractors for all my future home projects in the field of stucco and exterior work - Earning five stars for this accomplishment. I got another back up quote as well. I went with Golden State in the end, it was a little higher but some things you just don't go cheap on and this was a huge investment for me at least so I wanted the best of the best. Kirt (owner) was top notch from start to finish and even went out of his way in the to do extra touches to make the house even better, in addition to a TOP NOTCH stucco job. I love it! Kirt and I put our heads together early in the game and came up with a custom color that is so pleasing to the eye. Because of his expertise and keen eye for the details he made trim suggestions that while of course adding to the contract, only enhanced the overall look, and it just gave the house that extra "wow" factor. And me being a single woman, naïve to the process, would have never known to add "trim" and he helped with that process as well, noting what trim would look best. I'm just thrilled with my home and very happy with the entire staff at Golden State. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone looking to refresh an old look like I did. I checked out their contractor's license which was listed on the small ad right next to the government telephone numbers to each bureau. Mike was there less than two hours after returning my call and we agreed on a price and design for my backyard patio and house side walkways. His crew started the next day and the setup was competed in a day. The concrete pour was done the next work day and cleanup the day after. His crew was most sensitive to various plants and fixtures and the end result is fantastic. Mike even offered to run electrical conduit under the slab to my work shed for a very reasonable extra fee. I never would have thought to do it. The Patio and Walkways are fabulous and my Wife is very happy...which makes me happy.

I went with a middle quote, E-Mora Construction, and I'm so glad I did! I was anxious for the sump pump work to be completed before the rains began. Although E-Mora Construction had a full schedule, they managed to squeeze me in and completed the work ahead of schedule. The workers were great, and tidied up after work finished for the day. The sump pumps and moisture barrier were installed in two days. Ernesto Mora himself came to offer the initial quote, and returned once the work was completed for a final inspection, and to collect payment. When my electrician went into the crawlspace to install a dedicated circuit, he came out and said that if it were his house, he'd be "very happy with the work, and I've been in a lot of crawlspaces!"
