    Thanksgiving dinner 2024
    Angie H.

Can I say I am so happy I went to Jax today and picked up a Thanksgiving dinner. Everything about it was absolutely perfect. I got it to go. I had called him the night before. I originally sent a message on messenger and they responded but they didn't get back to me quick enough, so I called all within 15 minutes. :) They were perfect both times. They took my order & had no problem with me picking it up to go . Said it would be ready when I got there at one. And it sure was the staff was welcoming my dressing even spilled and they had to move it to a whole aNother bag and they were so happy to help. But let me tell you that cornbread stuffing and the turkey, green beans and mashed potatoes plus the gravy are out of this world. I'm here to tell you this was a great place for Thanksgiving dinner. Every last part and component was made from scratch even the cranberries sauce and the butter with the herbs in it and the rolls. Very impressive to pull up such an amazing Thanksgiving dinner on such a beautiful island. I couldn't be a happier girl

I gotta admit that I'm surprised. I ran across the street from Priveleges Aluxus resort to watch the NCAA tournament and ordered something to snack on and got this incredible bowl of fresh seafood. The conch and pulpo are as fresh & flavorful as you're going to find on the island. I'm going to haul Mrs Wonderful over here in the next day or so to try a few more items, but great fresh ceviche suggests that this ain't no ordinary sports bar

Cool place right on the main drag, great for people watching and drinks. Great service and friendly atmosphere

Awesome place to sit down and enjoy great food, great service, and a most welcoming environment. Stopped in earlier in the day to find a place where the NBA Finals would be showing. They let me look around upstairs and downstairs to see the bars and TV set ups. TV's everywhere. This was the perfect place to sit down and watch the game on the Island. You can't go wrong.

    Too early to drink.

The food is not that great and it's kinda expensive. My Cobb salad had fresh lettuce, avocado, onion and green peppers, but that's where the freshness ended. They used yesterday's hard boiled eggs, bacon and chicken. Meh:/ It's really hard to find a bit of shade on the patio if you need that (which this pasty girl needs). It's also at the point on the island where it's starting to get windy. You'll find that the further North you go. Service was adequate. I had to leave before the country and western singer started his caterwalling. At night, it's a very different vibe, but I'm not going out of my way again to visit.

Delicious! I just got tacos but they were amazing and I will get them again! The drinks were also good and the service was pretty good. Nice restaurant, and they have a upstairs area which is nice.

We always love Jax! The food, service and atmosphere is awesome! This is our 2nd trip in a row we have voted them Jax BEST Margaritas the island, always consistent and delicious! We started most of our evenings at Jax for a drink and also ended our night back at Jax for one more delicious margaritas! We tried MANY and Jax was the best! The Aldo have a menue of delicious frozen drinks. Happy hour is currently on Wed 4 to 8.

Great food and friendly service... It's owned by a Texan so the food is prepared more American like.. cheddar cheese and especially Dr. Pepper.. it's hard to find and they have it here!

I review food places based off 5 topics. 1) Food 2) Drinks 3) Service 4) Atmosphere 5) Pricing I'm from California so expectations are usually pretty high for us. 1) Food- The Food is good, but it's nothing crazy. We ordered a Shrimp Cocktail, 3 beef tacos, and Chicken Flautas. Shrimp cocktail was very good, the beef tacos were average, and Flautas were good. 2) Drinks- Large variety and delicious mixed drinks as well as buckets of beer. 3) Service- Was definitely a weak point. You will see what I mean when you go. 4) Atmosphere- Really great Atmosphere, right along the beach with a great view. TVs with sporting events throughout the whole restaurant. Nice set up inside while restaurant. 5) Pricing- Very reasonable Pricing on everything. For those 3 meals 1 mixed drink and 2 soft drinks we paid 550 pesos or $37US. Little heads up, use pesos because they lower the value of US dollar. Right now 19 pesos = $1US They had 15 pesos = $1US, so you will pay more if you use American Dollars. 3 stars for the Pricing atmosphere and Drinks. The food and Service was nothing special, still a nice place to eat and watch sporting events!!

Look past the palms to see the crystal clear water on the upstairs deck

If you like sports bars, buckets o' beer, and bar food then Jax is your place. My favorite part is sitting on the deck upstairs overlooking glorious ocean views while I stuff my face with chips and guacamole. What is it about the guacamole and chips in Isla? They are unlike any I've had before and I can't get enough! The portion sizes are generous making this an ideal place to share. One of our favorite dishes to do so with being the nachos. Most of the island offers seafood and authentic Mexican fare, so this is one of the few places with a variety of American meals. Personally, I prefer to eat like the locals do when on vacation, but for the picky eaters in your group this will be their safe haven. The prices are reasonable, the service quick, and did I mention the views? Because they truly are stunning. We come here mostly for drinks and appetizers since the few meals we've tried like the BLT were only okay. This won't be the best food you will have in Mexico, but it is comforting when you want to be reminded of home. They have free wifi too which is an added bonus. I typically have my phone shut off to avoid crazy charges, but for people with better plans than me they will appreciate this :-)

Pro tip with all tacos: you gotta eat it fast or else the tortilla collapses in your hand. They had these amazing chips to go with not your usual salsa but a ketchup/mayo combo and a very very spicy chili crisp. I made the mistake of eating too many of the chips and not having enough room for my tacos. The coconut shrimp was just okay. Very tiny shrimp. My husband raved about the lime soup here for the rest of the trip; I can confirm that it was excellent. Fun casual atmosphere - our food came out pretty fast, even with all of the tables filled. Bonus points for playing music videos of 2010s pop hits on the tv by our table.

This restaurant definitely had I more local vibe compared to some of the tourist places up north. As soon as we got there I could tell the employees or maybe even the owner started counting up how many women are party and started to shuffling the tables around to accommodate us. This was definitely one of the highlights in terms of The food that we had. Everyone was happy with their dreams and their food We got the mixed grill which served for adults. The shrimp, the lobster, the steak, the chorizo all of it was a good mix. There was a lot of vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower as well as a salad. Someone else in our party got the enchiladas and a burrito and they're very particular about their Mexican food and they both said it was the best meal of the Trip. The only item I wouldn't order and not because it's bad just because it wasn't as good was the carbonara. I ordered it to split between the children and they actually loved it but if I were an Italian I would probably be left wanting.

Here are the top three reasons why you should go here multiple times. 1)The food. All homemade and perfectly portioned. The guacamole and cheesy dish was the best appetizer I've ever had. I was pretty full with just that. Even the chips are homemade. For dinner we ate tacos and a quesadilla, both solid and eaten quickly. Earlier we got an omelette and it was perfect with plenty of sides. 2)Price. We two appetizers, two entrees and drinks and it cost about 300 pesos. That's 15 bucks for us Americanos. If you walked about ten steps across the street, you would pay for the same food at about triple that price. 2)People. So this place does not have fancy music, TVs or even nice chairs. It's simple, clean and family run. They were always super nice and quiet, never pushing anything but still attentive to our needs. I hope you enjoy this place as much as we did.

Because we had been on the resort for the majority of the time, we were on the hunt for an authentic taco stand on the island. After passing what seemed like 100 tourist trap restaurants, we walked right up to this place. One look at the handwritten menu and quaint, outdoor kitchen, we knew we had found the place. The menu featured various tacos, empanadas, ceviche, and other traditional Mexican street foods. I ordered three chicharron tacos (because I'm obsessed with fried pork), while my bf ordered an al pastor, a chorizo, and a chicharrón taco, along with three empanadas. The food was made fresh, so there was a bit of a wait, but not too long. Man oh man, was it worth the wait. I honestly wasn't even hungry, but couldn't pass up the chance to eat street tacos in MX. The chicharron was perfectly crispy with a nice fat-to-skin-to-meat ratio. Did I mention that the tortillas were all freshly handmade as well? Additionally, their salsa picante was just that-- picante! It was hot as Hades, which wasn't apparent from the light green color of the sauce. But try some, it's worth it. I was in Mexico for four days and these chicharron tacos were, without a doubt, the best thing I ate. Nom nom!
