Got there ten minutes early for an interior detail appointment and the first employee who I saw in the parking lot was playing on his phone. When I asked him where to park for the detailing he told me "I don't know where you park, over there maybe," but there was no where to park that way. The second employee I asked told me I needed a membership until he finally understood I was just there for a detailing. He then informed me to park in front of the truck over on the other side of the parking lot, as I was getting out of my vehicle he tells me to move behind the truck because that spot won't work.... Ummm?? So I move my car and go into the lounge. Not one worker to be found and all the employees working the car wash lanes seemed like chickens with their heads cut off. I got in my car and left. What a horrible business and idiot workers. I'll never go back here. read more

Great car wash for the outside, but for a 186 dollar detail it looks the same. They rush through and I got there at 8:00 am when they opened. My car was done in an hour which is nice but there was soap residue on the seats, crums still in between seats and the dash has dust on it. Guess if you want things done right you have to do them yourself. read more

Bottom line: If you have a car you care about, don't bring it here for a car wash. For the details on my experience, read on... I drove from Virginia to attend the 2016 Woodward Dream Cruise in the Detroit to Pontiac, MI area held this past weekend. After arriving in town I decided to have my car cleaned after passing by Jax Kar Wash on Woodward Ave. The greeter advised my car was probably too low to go through their automated wash. I appreciated his advice and he suggested a hand wash, which is what I wanted anyway. I paid $34.99 on 8/19 (see attached photo of receipt). The car "washer" started out fine by hosing my car down rinsing off some of the loosest dirt. What happened afterwards can only be described as a total car wash failure. First, the car "washer" intermittently sprayed a foam product from a hand held can here and there on the car. When foam products like these are used to clean a car, the foam should completely cover the car to help loosen all dirt and materials that cover the car. From the dozen or so brief sprays I witnessed from start to finish, I doubt the car "washer" used 1/2 a can on my car. Maybe not even that much. And the foam was only applied in thin, stringy spurts here and there. Next I would've expected at least a sudsy hand wash from a clean bucket of soapy water but what happened next shocked me. Another guy came out and dumped a big pile of newly cleaned drying cloths on the top of my car. It was a pile about 3 feet in diameter rising to a mound 1 feet tall. Probably 20-30 rags. Then the car "washer" and another car "washer" "washing" the car next to mine in a similarly poor manner started grabbing rags off the pile to DRY THE CAR! No further cleaning other than the initial rinse and intermittent foam! Nothing more done to remove residual dirt and grime. Just straight to wiping the car with dry rags, dragging & grinding the residual dirt into the clear coat! UNBELIEVABLE! And to make matters worse, not even the simplest of principles was applied to cleaning a car wherein you start from the top and work your way to the bottom. Remember the big pile of drying rags on the top of my car? The car "washer" couldn't of started from the top even if he wanted to with the rags covering the top of the car! The drying started at the back bumper area of the car (where the most dirt collects) and proceeded along the sides and bottom. Then finally to the flat surfaces of the hood and roof, dragging residual dirt from the bottom up to the top where, if the first initial rinse and intermittent foaming where lucky enough to get rid of the dirt (highly doubtful), the drying from the bottom up was sure to drag remaining grime to the top grinding it into the clear coat as the car "washer" dried with the dry rag. Frankly, I was in shock watching this unfold before my eyes. So much so that it was over almost as soon as it started. From start to finish of this miserable failure of a car "wash" it was maybe 10-15 minutes. Maybe 20 at the most. If I could rate this business a zero for my experience, I would. Worst $34.99 I've ever spent on a hand car wash. read more

Go to place for car wash. Fast and friendly service. Waiting area is clean and cool during the summer months. Just learned about some awesome deals that I was missing out on. Guess it is important to read the receipt! They give you five days to return for a free wash in case of rain or if you drive through a huge puddle after pulling onto Woodward. Some deals also include 30% of repeat wash. read more

Jax isn't what it once was. The people are still nice but the product and service have fallen far short. They don't clean the inside of the car thoroughly and the only way to get a car wash inside and out is to buy a package - not convenient or customer friendly. Having lived in MN, IL, NJ, and NY, and growing up in Birmingham, I can honestly say that Jax Car wash is the most expensive car wash with the worst product I've been to in all my years. read more

Still stinks. While i do think the rinse has increased as less of a trickle since my last review, overall it's still a careless car wash. Oftentimes I get a poorly done towel dry. I feel bad for the workers. I imagine they're exhausted and not paid enough to care. If you pay more, they feel protective of keeping their jobs and it's more competitive to work hard and meet a standard. Think these guys bust their butts but aren't incentivized to put the detail into the pre wash, maintenance, or towel dry that is needed for a quality experience. Owner--canned responses isn't helpful. It's a front to make it appear to future readers that you're doing outreach and trying to improve. In reality, you are able to reach out to customers, but no one does. Instead you put it on the customer to visit your website and fill out the form, why would I go through that to give YOU an opportunity to improve your score? If you care, you reach out directly, and you don't use copy and paste responses. read more

I am grateful I had an unsatisfactory experience here because it led me to bigger and better car washes!! With sadness to report a negative review, here is my honest experience. I didn't know that a wash here would leave me wishing I went through a drive through. While waiting for my car outside, I heard an employee yell that my car rolled off a roller and inspected the side of my car. This left me feeling uneasy and when I left, my break started making a clicking noise. Panicked, I went back and asked for the manager who told me the clicking was from the water from the wash and quite honestly looked at me like I was an idiot. I've had car washes and this was unfamiliar news to me! After I asked about the car rolling off the roller he said it was nothing. That's fine, but if it's not anything uncommon, why holler about it in the lot? On my way back out I looked at my car and noticed spots all over it. I really might as well went through a drive thru. So I did! I went to Your Carwash on Maple and they are the kind of business I want to support. Friendly, welcoming and accommodating. read more

This is a rave review, i suppose. Call me crazy, but I find Jax employees uniformly and surprisingly friendly and kind. This stands in marked contrast to a lifetime of going to other carwash establishments, wherein employees seem to wish they were working somewhere else; anywhere else-- or not working at all.... I don't know how they do it, but the friendliness is impressive. Makes me feel, as a consumer, like I am getting value for my dollar and that they are glad I showed up. It is clear that Jax is doing something right. Most family businesses suffer 30+ years after the dad started them-- this one seems to be crisp and forward-moving. read more

I have been to Jax a lot since they are in my neighborhood. Sometimes during the winter I will get the inside and outside wash, and they do a pretty good job. If I just need a quick wash, the basic exterior only wash is good too. Today I told the attendant that my wheels were really dirty, and he recommended the exterior everything wash. He said they would get my wheels clean. I was a little apprehensive since the everything exterior wash is $20 vs. the $6 standard exterior wash. Everything about the wash was as usual. When I got home, it was a different story. I inspected the car, and it was still really dirty. The wheels looked like they weren't touched at all, and the only clean part of my car was the hood and windshield. Both the front and rear numbers were still dirty and anything below two feet still had dirt and mud on it. I have paid for the $6 wash with much better results. My car wasn't even that dirty to begin with. Save yourself a bunch of money and don't pay for anything more than the basic wash. You'll be disappointed otherwise. read more

The worst service ever. I just picked up my car only to see a huge dent on the front passenger door. They did a poor job cleaning the car but this was the least thing I worry about. I spoke to Greg the manager and we went and looked at the camera tape and it showed clearly no dent on the door when the car came in. He kept arguing with me that the angle was not ideal and he couldn't tell for sure. We looked from different angles and it was clear. He said maybe someone was passing by and keyed your car while it was parked outside at Jax. He said "we don't cut checks for nothing". Poor work. I would never take my car back again. read more

In my 10 years of coming to this car wash, I've never once had a bad experience (unless you count leaving a towel in the trunk), which is why I have the unlimited membership. It's super quick, and I ALWAYS tip because the employees are polite, helpful, and hustle, no matter how busy they are or how hot it is outside. The cashiers patiently explain the different packages, the detail guys are terrific and will happily re-do or touch up anything less than perfect. Ms. Scrivens- your friendly smile and positive attitude made my day on my last full-service! I only wish I could get an appointment for detailing sooner! read more
