I bought a detaining car wash from Royal Oak before Covid. I called after and put my name on the list and called every morning like i was told. They were very unprofessional did not know what was going on at all. I then called Birmingham many times asking for help and they told me to come in and they would honor my detailing wash. I will say very frustrating with Royall Oak. Carolyn and Joeseph apoligized and got me right in. If Jax has employees like these two Carolyn and Joseph they will be five star all the time. This week I visited the Birmingham location of Jax for the first time. The first thing that threw me off was that this location does NOT have self serve vacuums, so if you want your car vacuumed out, plan on splurging on the interior detailing options. I chose a step up from the basic wash for $11. It got my car clean, so I can't really complain. The layout of this particular location is kind of funky, but the signs do a good job getting you where you need to go. read more

I have found that the service and the wash is typically excellent. But only for the machine wash - not for the "hand" wash. So let me start. I typically get a basic plus exterior and I'm generally very happy with the wash. The staff often remembers me and knows I don't like a brush on the outside. During the wipe down or drying off, about 25% of the time I get a very lazy individual who is just anxious to move on. No tip for you. In fact, many times I have my tip ready but put it away as they barely dry the car. Another time I didn't notice until it was too late, but they forgot to put the armor all on the tires. About 50% of the time, they do a great job and pay close attention to ensure it is done well. Good tip for you. And finally, about 25% of the time I find someone who slows down and details the wheels carefully. Big tip for you! You know who you are and your caring attitude goes a long way. When I get the Basic Plus full service, they do a very careful job drying off the car including the door jams. Now here is where I give my warning. Do NOT get a hand wash. It is $35 and it consists of a guy spraying down your car with water from a high pressure sprayer, that you normally find at coin operated car washes, with no soap for about two minutes. Then, he starts drying. I mean where is the washing? There is absolutely zero hand wash. They spray to wet it and then towel dry as they normally do for a $6 wash. Plus, he didn't do under the side sills, and put dirty hand prints that I had to keep cleaning before I left. Honestly - it's a huge rip off. You pay 3.5 times more than a Basic Plus and six times more than a Basic wash and you get very poor detailing. Not surprisingly, there was no shine to the paint as it was basically sprayed with water and then dried down. I would not do that again. So - I can reinforce what someone else wrote. Do not get the hand wash. My other tip - if you have a manual transmission, do not get full service. I've seen too many of their attendees try to drive a manual and they keep stalling it... I wouldn't be happy if that was my car. Finally, I found it funny when a staff member commented on Yelp to a user that "the bird dropping photo is of a red car and your car is black - so remove this photo". Actually, you can see the car is black and the red part is the tail lamp. Funny. Anyway, anytime I've gone through the car wash (machine), I've always been pleased and would definitely return. read more

I'd give this location 0 stars if I could! I went there today and will never go back! I tried to ask the girl scanning the car in front of me to have them pull up so I could get around her to use the Fast Pass lane which is specifically designed to allow members quick access. The girl refused to have the car pull up to allow me to do so, despite the fact that there was plenty of room, and proceeded to start arguing with me. I have been going to this location for years and know many of the staff very well and have always treated them with respect and kindness. In fact, one of the guys came over and tried to help and she wouldn't allow him to so he called the manager who finally came out as a huge line had begun to form. I spoke to the manager and explained the situation and asked him to speak to her and he said he would but seemed reluctant to do so. So much for respecting your customers! read more

Extremely mediocre car wash (at best). Every time. They do not do a great job vacuuming, getting little crumbs and dirt out of cupholders and small spaces, and it never looks like they even touch the surface of my seats. And if you ask them to come back and actually clean your car, expect the manager to give you attitude and tell you that you need a detail instead. I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

My husband took my Suburban in today for a detailed cleaning... for the most part the car looks and smells great. However the interior windshield was barely wiped if at all. My sons feet prints were still visible on the passenger side. Not impressed for $90. Seriously.. the front windshield, the one spot that is looked at every time you're in the car. A few other spots that weren't cleaned well and I give it a thumbs down for the money spent. read more

Jax Kar Wash - Birmingham - Car Wash Near Me - Birmingham, Michigan

Here is the deal with Jax... They are convenient, but the quality of service is not consistent across the locations. If you could get the quality of service of the b'ham location mixed with amenities of the Southfield (SFLD rd) locations, you would have a win. The newer SFLD location has compressed air. Anyone that is into their car and cleaning knows this is a big bonus for getting any dust and debris out of those hard to reach crevasses. In the B'ham location, they just seem to pay attention to the details in cleaning your car. Example, the wheels on my car are quite complex, but they take the time to get in there and clean them quite well. On the other side, the SFLD telegraph location just doesn't. I have had to get rewashes there several times and when I paid for the extra hand wash, they didn't complete the work. I was told the hand wash was done prior to interning the car wash. The person at the entrance of the car wash kept motioning me to enter. We go back and forth only me to enter and get to the end to be told, it is to be done prior to entering the car wash. Every employee there is nicer than the next. Don helped us when we pulled up, and was great. Everyone there is always kind and smiling. My kids love that they can watch the cars through the windows, and that inside they have a little fish pond too! They even have a turtle! Rose is so nice and let's the boys feed them, which makes Jax one of our favorite stops! read more

The workers are either poorly trained or pressured to do as little as possible. My windshield interior looked like it was cleaned by 5 year old. There big cloth wipes fully viable. Or I should say three big smears on the windshield. Are the any alternatives to this place? Jason M., the owners says: "don't complain on this site, just come back in - we will fix it". Which is fine, but he is missing the point. I should not have to come back in every time I have may car cleaned at JAX's. He should take the complaints and get to the root cause of the reoccurring problems. (there is evidence there are issues with the quality of interior cleaning.) When I get my car cleaned in California I NEVER have to go back for re-work. It is done right the first time. OEMs figured that one out 20yrs ago. Yesterday, Justin B. did a wonderful job cleaning my mom's car. It had been used without her permission by a body shop while it was in for repair. Jaxs does a great job. When I take my dogs to the groomer they shed. I can bring my car to had a and they make sure the seats are hair free. I hate dirty cars and they do an excellent job keeping it looking like new for me. read more

I really don't care for this location of Jax. While the staff is super friendly, the set up and quality of wash is atrocious. I'm pretty awesome at maneuvering my vehicle, but two out of three times I end up looking like an idiot while lining my tires up with the track due to the hairpin turn you're expected to make. I don't like looking like an idiot. I'm also disappointed with the outcome of the car after the wash. I drive to Chicago a lot and this location can't seem to remove the dead bugs from the windshield, front bumper or grill. This is not a staff issue and I hate to give a poor review because they really are friendly and professional here. I will come here out of convenience, but I prefer the West Bloomfield location for a perfect wash. read more

I do enjoy washing my car, but need my car washed more often than I personally have time to wash it, so invariably end up going to the car wash. We are new to the area, and have been to this location three times now, with two of our cars, and will never go back. Both cars have come out with new scratches each time we've been there. The prewash is inadequate, the staff's performance is poor (pricing is variable for same service, prewash is lousy as mentioned, drive through wash is rough as mentioned, drying is hastily completed / incompleted), and the facility is in awful repair. I did not come to yelp to write a bad review (was looking for good reviews of local carwashes, actually); but felt compelled to write when I saw this listed in the results... This is an awful carwash, and based on my experience here, I certainly will not try any other Jax location. read more

I would frequent JAx when I lived on this part of town. Mr C's on the east side is a MUCH better option. People are so miserable at Jax. It seems to be a place where souls go to die. No smiles, 0.0 enthusiasm. I always feel like I have to lock up all my possessions before I turn my car over to the staff. Completely inadequate, inconvenient, and overpriced. I moved to MI from the Seattle area and have been looking for months for a decent car wash that does interiors & exteriors. I found Jax, but I have been completely underwhelmed. First off, the location is awful. Yes, you can pull in easily from Woodward, but then you're stuck. It's in far too small of a lot, so there is a maximum of only two lanes of cars going at any time in the "unloading" area. If you're a mom with kids in the car, and you want to clear out your valuables, which may include a diaper bag and purse, not to mention unlatch the car seats so the attendants can vacuum under them, then you will invariably hold up a line of traffic behind you and get the stink eye from attendants. (I've stopped caring if people think I'm that "slow lady who takes forever to get her crap out of her vehicle." I will take however long I need to properly get my stuff together.) Why would I need to unlatch every car seat and clear every last gum wrapper out of the vehicle? Because their interior service is abysmal. I have driven through, only to drive away and find crumbs still on the floor and errant raisins still stuck to the seats. They don't even wipe down vinyl and leather seats. I understand they're not in the business of cleaning upholstery, but they really should wipe down the seats for their price! In summary, I am used to car washes that easily spend 15 minutes on my interior for the same price as Jax. Jax just wants to get you pushed through the line as quickly as possible. I don't think they have ever spent more than 5 minutes on the interior of my car after it has exited the drive-thru washer. I recommend going to the $2 Car Wash at Maple and Coolidge ($3 for SUVs) and just vacuuming and wiping down your own interior. read more

I have mixed feelings on this location. Originally, I had brought my car in for an interior clean after receiving an email for 10% off for email subscribers. When I got there I asked for the 10% off special and the man was incredibly rude about it stating I'm not in the system for that and if it came to my email I needed to print it off. I brushed it off and paid full price for my carpet shampoo and interior detail. Fast forward an hour. They called and said my car was ready. Upon arrival I was brought to my car for inspection. It looked decent at first glance so I accepted it and drove off. While driving I noticed my windows hadn't even been touched with windex or anything of the sort and looked further to find tons of dirt still throughout the car. I called back and the women recommended I bring it back the following day so the detail manager could look at it so I did. He was very apologetic but also could not get me in and requested I come back yet again the following day. I am not from this area so at this point I'm pretty irritated about having to come down there again. I come back the next day and was told very rudely that they were busy and I would have to wait quite a bit so I requested the manager. He got me in quickly and did a great job cleaning up the mess that was still in there. When I went to leave, my car had been put into 4 LO while cleaning and would not go back into 2 wheel drive. I see this isn't the fault of Jax being that they were trying to clean my car but I ended up paying $400 for repairs on top of the $78 for the detail because of this and had a lot of time wasted due to poor service. If I'm going to pay $160 plus for a detailing I expect my car to look dang near new. Instead, what I got was a quick wipedown I could have done myself in a hr. It was barely cleaner and after I got my car back I noticed areas of dirt that could have been easily cleaned but were ignored. I get my car washed at Jax just about everyday. I have had my exterior membership for almost 2 years now and they take care of me whenever needed. The price for the membership is well worth what you get (especially with hand drying) The workers have always put a smile on my face and said hi to me when coming through. Back in July, my car was in park while I was waiting in line and the guy in front of me reversed into me cracking the front bumper on my BMW. The workers called the police before I was able to and the manager made sure if I needed anything, that they would help. I have low-profile tires and during the winter, snow gets stuck like crazy. The workers always do their best to help me out by getting it out. They definitely go above what is expected. I had my car waxed here before as well and found it to be perfect when I left. Needing to get my car waxed again before cold weather comes around and will be having it done here again. read more

Jax get's a lot of criticism but when they are doing things right they should be acknowledged for it. I went there to get my SUV washed last Thursday and it was an excellent experience. First I got the deluxe interior/ext wash. When I went inside the cashier asked if there was anything that needed special attention. I said to make sure that the interior is very clean as it needed a good vacuuming out. Sure enough once it came through it was not vacuumed as thoroughly as I would have like. When I told the manager they pulled the car around the side and spent an extra half hour cleaning the inside. I left feeling very happy and satisfied. I will definitely go back and recommend it again. It definitely appears that they now have a quality control and customer satisfaction system going on. Keep up the good work Jax! read more
