I still stand by my 1st review as for the freshness and quality, selection is still great. I live in Long Beach but whenever I'd crave a donut I'd drive in because they were always willing to fill ANY donut with Bavarian creme, it lastly became a favorite. I'd come.in and order a simple glaze and they would always fill it with the bavarian creme, always told me it was no problem. Well I've driven in 3 times (today was the 3rd visit) specifically for those donuts and this is also the 3rd time I was told no, they won't do that. Both the lady and man have done it in the past, the man knew who i was. I asked today why they are now refusing when they have been doing that for months. She said they never did that. I explained to her, I've been coming here specifically for those donuts for at least 2 years, that the gentleman would always fill them, even she did on occasion. She was insistent she NEVER did that, I was at the wrong place, she got snippy and rude. I promised my coworkers the donuts or I'd of went elsewhere. I told her I won't be back because the service isn't what it used to be and to be denied what id normally get, basically being called a liar was rude. I'd understand if the donuts weren't available but they had a full tray of them. Jay's may have good donuts, but to be called a liar in so many words and told i could not have what I normally order because "well they don't have them and won't fill them", they've lost my business as well as the others I've been sending to their location. read more

Jay's Donuts is a South Bay gem. Anyone who is a Torrance, Lomita, PV native knows this is where you get good donuts. They're not fancy or froo froo. They're just really good donuts. This donut shop has very simple donuts, however they are really good. We got a ton of donuts, including an apple fritter, a cinnamon roll donut, a chocolate cake donut, a Long John, and an old fashioned. All of them were really good. My favorites were the cinnamon roll and apple fritter. these were incredibly soft, super sweet, and very flavorful. The Apple fritter had a lot of gooey apple filling in it which is a nice change from usual apple fritters that don't. The other donuts were fine. Maybe not the most moist, but still tasty. Whenever I am in this area again, I will definitely be grabbing an apple fritter and cinnamon roll doughnut again. read more

So, how can a donut shop rate 5 stars and not be one of those gourmet 5 bux a pop places? Well let me tell you about JAYS donuts in the Harbor City area on PCH. All your standard donuts, bars,and twists are available... glazed, chocolate, maple, cinnamon, sugared and so on. It's your standard donut shop like you would on almost any street in your city. But these donuts....there's something about them...they're dense... and airy and crisp and flakey all at once. But..... it's just a donut like any other right...? Some how, These are just a little extra ... I can't explain it. The owners are always nice and it doesn't matter how many times I've been in there for a dozen.... They almost ALWAYS...drop in two or three extra ...just because. We were craving a sweet treat at 9pm on a Saturday evening and doughnuts sounded like a great idea however there were limited options open at that time. We went to our usual boutique doughnut place and they had just closed. We were so bummed so we searched open spots in Torrance and Jay's popped up. We figured why not give them a try. We arrived to find a doughnut spot with several lottery vending machines as well. I believe they are open 24 hours. The store was pretty clean and there was 1 gentleman that came out to assist us. The case was pretty full of a variety of doughnuts and that slightly got us scared that they had been sitting there all day but at that time of night beggars can't be choosers. We chose to get a dozen and picked the usual standard doughnuts. Glazed Raised, Maple & Chocolate Bars, Buttermilk Glazed, Cinnamon Cake & Raised, Blueberry. They cost about $20 for 12. When we got them home, we were extremely pleasantly surprised!! The doughnuts were so soft & fresh tasting. Every single one was delicious! We each tried a couple bites of a few flavors and everyone was flavorful & soft. Jays doughnuts hands down beats the boujee boutique doughnut shop down the way in both taste & value! I can't tell you how happy my boyfriend is that we found this place as we will be regulars at Jay's from now on. If you're on the fence, do not hesitate to try them! read more

Donuts are fresh. Price is reasonable. Definitely better than most places nearby when it comes to price and quality. I always get a maple bar and my husband always gets a lemon fill. Good size donut and you can tell it's fresh with the dough and maple sweetness. Would come here again. It gets busy but it's fast. Parking is ample. Cash only. read more

I go here simply to support family-owned businesses. They are fresh donuts, best time.is in the morning, and they also have a CA Scratcher machine. Just beware: you may have to reach up into the machine to retrieve your Scratcher. One night, I came in and bought some Scratchers, but a few were missing. I told the girl working and she just told me that, "the guy with the key," would have to take a look. A couple of weeks later, when the older lady was working, someone had the same issue, and she instructed them to reach up into the machine and to my surprise, she retrieved the Scratcher she bought that failed to drop. I wish I would've known that, would've saved me the loss I took. Oh well, someone got lucky and got free Scratchers. At least I know for next time. The older lady is super sweet. She gave us a discount and even threw in one she recommended, for free. Prices are reasonable, selection is ample, and it's your simple, no-frills donut shop that has all the best classics, from apple fritters to sugar twists, to maple bars, and of course, donut holes! [Review #93] H wanted to have dessert after she was done with her BCG burger. Instead of a BCG milkshake, we went next door to Jay's Donuts. There was a couple of teenagers being helped, no greeting when we walked in. I guess there's a camera or mirror because a man came out from the kitchen & asked if we've been helped. I checked on Yelp before ordering, & noticed there was a photo of a cronut but sadly, they were out. The baker says he makes them in the morning but does not stock them in the evening. Considering this shop is open 24 hours, they may be missing out on potential customers (like me) since the "cronut craze" is still on. At this hour, their selection is a bit limited but my favs were in stock. I was undecided, debating between a cinnamon roll, apple fritter, & cinnamon twist (they were h-u-g-e). I'm also saving mine for tomorrow (as my BCG City Slicker started settling), but not before I took a nibble... it was moist, & had nice texture & cinnamon flavor. It was good but nothing that stands out like Mackay's Donuts or Daily Donut House. H picked a chocolate bar, which was surprising... she usually picks a pink glazed donut or a chocolate donut. I told her that she can have it in portions tomorrow (I don't need a 4-year old on a sugar high just before bedtime). I eat a donut about once every 5 years. Lately I've had the craving to try one again. I researched all the local specialty places. I'm not one for fruity pebbles or other designer flavors like what I'm seeing on the menus and photos of the most talked about places. My brother has been going to Jay's for years. They had the highest reviews here on Yelp, and they had all the classic favorites on their menu. So I sent my husband through the California rain to get a half dozen for our Sunday brunch. First impression was they are very freshly made giving them a moist and perfect texture. But the oil they used was rancid which spoiled my whole experience. I'm guessing it's used too many times, maybe bad to begin with. I know the price of ingredients has soared for us all and businesses are trying to cut costs. And seeing as this is my go to Donut shop in Torrance, I will soon be referring to this place as Ray's Donuts... No? Yeah I didn't like that name either. lol. But anyways.. These donuts are bomb digitty! They are so damn fluffy that it feels like you are biting into a cloud. What? You've never tasted a cloud before? Well when you try these donuts, it'll be the closest thing to a fluffy cloud. And they are open 24/7! I've come after midnight.. Before midnight... after dinner.. What can I say.. Donuts taste good at night. Drinks: I just recently ordered a Thai Tea from here.. And it tasted really funky. I would just stick to ordering donuts from here. Service: Really friendly. So i am out and about trying to satisfy my Lemon filled powdered donut craving. I stopped off at my spot where i usually get that donut and they were sold out, so i heard about Jay's Donuts i thought i would give it a try i am right in the area. Low and behold they had it, i was so excited , i asked the attendant if i can get that lemon powered donut, she responded oh some one called and asked us to save them, they would be here to pick them up i said i only want 1 she said sorry! Just tried Jay's Donuts..OUTSTANDING! Picked up some donuts at 430, and kind of expecting them to be stale and dry. Some of the best damn donuts I've had in a long time. Still soft and the cream filled LOADED with custard! Place is clean and the cashier was very friendly. Ordered Boston cream, eclair and two sugar donuts and they all tasted great. Yay Donuts! Pretty good donuts here but I don't really think there's anything especially spectacular. We got the maple donut bar, cakey donuts, apple fritter, donut holes, and some glazes. Everything really tasted as expected. A little more doughy and cakey than I like but really just a regular donut shop. To really impress and wow from a donut perspective you gotta be very light and 'airy' on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside. Or at least have some extraordinary flavors that most places don't have. So overall this place is your average donut shop that executes regular donuts well. That's about it. A-OK. read more

The owners of this shop are the sweetest people i've ever met. On top of that they make some amazingly fresh donuts daily. I'm a fat kid at heart so I automatically love donuts but this is my favorite donut shop hands down. My favorite is the ham & cheese and original glazed. The location is very accessible. I normally don't write reviews but read a few number of bad ones that I wanted to help out and be impartial! I was in town from 30 miles away and a friend of mine looked this place up. I'm glad we didn't go to a Dunkin or some washed up chain. This place isn't extravagant in designs but the pieces are big compared to elsewhere in LA The dude that helped us was sweet and kind and was working the nighttime shift. Explained the options and prices which are fairly priced imo. OMG the crumble doughnut hit the spot...like so perfectly soft and sweet. Not overdone. Was just perfect for me. They are not overhyped like the chains which I kind of like cus flavor and taste is more important. The crumble doughnut was my fave and I took a chance on the bread pull, I think that's what it's called, and that was very filling and interesting. The plain cheesecake tasted really good. Wish cheesecake had more cake to it but that's a general preference of mine! Surprised to hear people got old pieces on these reviews, it always depends on the time you visit and a host of other factors but being the pickiest eater there is I found these fresh and very fulfilling. Definitely will be back. The place seemed busy enough to know that the stock won't stay long. read more
