When we first moved to Olympia we compared Jay's Farm Stand, Wal-Mart, Grocery Outlet, Safeway, Top Foods, Trader Joes, and Mega Foods for prices and quality for produce. On nearly every item the produce was fresher, higher quality, and lower cost at Jay's Farm Stand. We live less than a mile from Jay's so it's really easy to go get what we need. A week's worth of fruit and veggies for two people rarely costs over ten dollars. They also have truly local produce whenever they can. I much prefer to go to Jay's over the Farmers Market because it's not as hectic and crowded. They sell salsa and guacamole made in Aberdeen, WA that is fantastic. Most days they have samples you can try. They recently added Capitol Meats that sells meat cut fresh daily from Raymond, WA. They just need to sell milk and eggs so I never have to go to Safeway again! (We get all of our other groceries at WINCO, because their prices can't be beat.) Take the time to check it out, you won't be disappointed! And tell your friends, more business means they may open more locations. read more

Been shopping at Jays for two years. Went there yesterday to pick up stuff for dinner last night, along with stuff for smoothies for a few days and dinner for tonight. $22.65. Went to check out and their credit card machine kept spitting out a receipt with a number to call. I called the number and it is a number for the merchant to call, not the customer. The cashiers insisted it was not their machines and that I must be using the wrong card. ??? So they try again, despite already having 4 attempts all coming back the same way. I called the number again, and was again scalded by the rep on the other line, for calling because it's only for merchants. I explained that I was aware of that but the cashiers REFUSE to call the 800 number. Instead they go to the back and call "Eric" their manager who tells them not to help me but to tell me to come back tomorrow.... That was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable so I asked for the managers name and number. That information was refused but I was allowed to briefly talk to him on one of the cashiers phones via speaker phone. Basically all he said is he couldn't fix it now and to come back tomorrow. So I guess I was supposed to put dinner breakfast and dinner on hold? Until Jays decided to do their job? I informed him I would be writing a review on Yelp reflecting this experience and he hung up on me. I had to ask for the receipts with the 800 number, which they had started to destroy. Now here's what happened after I left... I called my bank. My bank, is not a bank in Washington, it's in another state. They have ALL international transactions suspended right now. The routing information with Jays is some how setup to an international bank. Therefore my bank will not authorize it electronically. What someone at Jays needed to do, was call the merchant number on the receipt, verify the transaction was within the United States, verify that I, the customer was present there at the time. And TADAAAAAA you've got a successful transaction. No upset customer. No loss of sale. No embarrassment to the customer. Etc... A simple 1 min phone call would have prevented 30+ mins of embarrassment upsetting frustration. It would have prevented this review. In fact, if ANYONE SOMEONE JUST ONE PERSON could have done their job yesterday, I'd probably be writing a review about the issue and how it was professionally handled and resolved. Instead, Heres how the remainder of my day went.. All because of yesterday's crap. I drive home (25 min drive)...I was on the phone with my bank for nearly 50 minutes while they tried to figure it out, and did so by finally calling the 800 number. By that time, it was time to head up to Puyallup for an appointment. Get out of the appointment just in time for a sb i5 accident. So don't get back into Oly area until 6:37. Go to Qfc and spend $42.67 for LESS groceries, get dinner going by 7:30. And our family finally had dinner at 9:30 pm! Now, I went to the store yesterday (Jays) so I could cook dinner ahead of time (like I usually do) so we would be eating dinner once we got home, not still needing to be out and about grocery shopping and then cooking dinner. Additionally, I certainly didn't plan for being on the phone with my bank for almost an hour. I don't know what the heck Jays has going on. But their crap way of dealing with THEIR issue, has permanently cost them a customer... Along with everyone else I've referred to them. As I literally had taken a photo of the front of Jays to send to my DIL to show her where to come for the best produce, upon my arrival yesterday. The manager couldn't even be bothered to ask for my name and phone number to call me back once their issue was resolved. Usually I'd give a business a second chance if they made it a point to ask for my contact info to apologize and correct their issue. But Eric was too concerned with receiving a bad review. So here ya go. Thanks for throwing mine and my families day to heck yesterday, for refusing to fix your own bank issue. read more

Went here today per recommendation of a co-worker. I wasn't impressed. Prices were what they are everywhere, if not more expensive. Bananas were over priced. Service was ok. I don't like the fact that the meat counter is a separate line to pay & anywhere there if u spend under $5 they tack on an extra charge. I probably won't ever shop here again. I've found other more affordable options with organic produce which here they did not have much of. read more

Jays Farm Stand is amazing! I go here to get all the produce to feed myself and my boyfriend for a week and spend under $15 every time! Not only do they have amazing produce at amazing prices, they also carry meets, dairy, and the best salsa you will ever have! I've met the man behind this amazing salsa and, I have to say, he is one of the friendliest people ever! Him and the rest of the staff at the stand are outstanding, always friendly, and super helpful. Not only this, but now they're starting a delivery rout for those that can't make it during business hours! All you have to do is call in what you want and they'll deliver it! By the way, the young lady who makes these deliveries is super nice. We just moved in across the street and decided to check out Jay's since it's just a short stroll away. The prices were phenomenal for both produce and for meat. They have a great selection of jerky, nuts, and other local items like dairy at competitive prices. Loved this place! Prices are way better than at the chain grocery stores, and the produce is oh so much fresher. I went recently specifically to buy some blueberries- 2 lbs for $9! When I arrived, they were out, but they gave me six 6 oz. packages (orig priced at $2.50 each) for the $9 price. That's more than 2 lbs people, and I love my blueberries. Will definitely come here again! Also noticed a wood fired pizza truck in the parking lot that looked really popular- would love to try that. read more

I'm a bit surprised by all the glowing reviews. Our experience hasn't been so great. Twice we were overcharged by exactly $1, please ask for and check your receipts, especially if using a credit card. The prices on most products is higher than the local grocery stores and often the quality is lacking. It's convenient to where we live, so go there occasionally, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to shop there. read more

A co-worker of mine introduced me to this place when we decided we were going to juice together. The prices are incredible. My first purchase was 6 granny smith apples, 6 naval oranges, 1 ginger stem, and 1 lemon. It cost me just $5 and some change. Way cheaper than even the lowest sales which are usually at Winco. I also enjoy Michael's inside their smoked cheese and beef stick are delicious. If you are looking to keep fruits and veggies in your diet without emptying your wallet than I recommend this place. Once good, it seems it is under new greedy policy. Not many bargains left. Nearly everything is priced much higher than what it use to be so all these glowing reviews that happened in the past are history now. The few items that appear to be screaming bargains are typically produce already going bad. I went there today and walked out without buying _anything_. This is a huge difference between last month where I bought few bags full of grocery with nearly everything bought at a lower price than larger supermarkets in the area. The complete opposite is true now--nearly everything can be bought for less at a larger supermarket for equivalent level quality produce. They do take credit card but they are now one of the first to actually start charging legally a fee for credit card purchase under $5. read more

Love it, love it. I'm a cheapo so I love their bags of marked-down mixed veggies and all the bulk produce, meats and honey are all very good prices. It's really nice to shop somewhere that I can take my time and not feel rushed-unlike Safeway where it seems like the entirety of Thurston County does all their shopping at once.
