What a cute place for coffee, breakfast, brunch! My friend have been spotting this place and decided to go for it. It's like grandma's house (grandma was in there teaching her granddaughter to clean up - so cute!). The day we went, they had little specials in each corner. They had a gardening educational table for those interested in it, and They might have partnered with another eatery that advertised mango with sticky rice and boba. **They also serve Mary Ann Donut Kitchen Fridays and Saturdays, so two yumminess in one! They don't have all the flavors though... We all ordered a latte, almond milk and oat milk. Not bad. My friend and I ordered from the children's menu (LOL) and got a biscuit with egg and cheese, whilst her husband ordered the 610. We shared the biscuit French toast. I have found an excellent business. Ordering is easy; ask for your baked goods to be packaged or your coffee to be made a certain way. I like the atmosphere and can have a quiet table where i can have coffee or tea and relax plus I can use my computer or iPhone for study or reading. I like this place, great ambiance! Love love love everything about Jay's! It's the best local restaurant/cafe/hang out spot I have ever been to. The food is excellent, the coffee is delicious, and the best part is they are kid friendly. Jay's hosts summer story times for littles and my 9 month old and I love hanging out with other parents/care givers and their babies! They have toys available for kids to play with and they bring in someone to tell stories twice a week which are so fun and interactive. I hope Jay's continues to do this year round. read more

The young lady that greeted me and took my order when I came in was very sweet and bubbly, but the person that rang me up seemed like I was bothering her or annoying her. Her tone and attitude were short which was disappointing, as I looked at the yelp reviews before coming here from my first time and they were great. Even when I asked the person taking my order what was the size difference of the cups for my drink order, so that I could pick a size, the one ringing me up blurted out the sizes with an attitude in her tone and with an annoyed facial expression. I almost felt unwelcome or like a bother for asking. However The physical location was beautiful with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich but the matcha was pretty watered down and unsweetened. I'm not sure if you have to ask for sweetener, as I'm used to my Matcha being naturally sweet. I absolutely adored this place. The outdoor turf seating is adorable, and then you enter a beautiful, open indoor space with plenty of tables to get work done along with couches/chairs to relax with friends. My friend loved the waffle muffin which came with bourbon maple syrup, and whipped cream topped with berries in a separate container that I wasn't expecting! So why the three stars? Well. My iced dirty chai with oat milk (advertised with local brewed cold brew) tasted like weak cold brew. With a hint of chai that I honestly probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't know what it was supposed to be. It's a coffee shop. So the drinks are kind of a big deal. I asked if they could make it unsweetened so I'm not sure if maybe the syrup would have added another dimension? It was also very small for a "large." But regardless I won't be trying that particular one again. I should mention that I had asked them a couple questions via Facebook earlier in the day and they answered promptly. Had breakfast @ Jays today and was thoroughly impressed not only by the quality of the food but the prices as well. Ordered the breakfast biscuit after I was told it was a 'popular item,' and it was terrific. You could tell that they use quality ingredients and have found a way to keep it within a college students budget. The coffee was also made with quality beans from four monkeys roasters and did not disappoint. Lastly, the pastries I ordered were all good although the quality would have been better had we got them for dine in instead of takeout . The cinnabon was really good, the waffle muffin was delicious and the Portuguese tart was surprisingly amazing . Looking forward to coming back for a cheap and amazing meal. read more

Fresh and made to order Jays is a great spot to get a quick meal. Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes perfect. My favorite thing is the waffle muffin... yes you read that right, a waffle and a muffin combined. It's good I don't live closer because I could eat one of those daily. read more

Nice college spot. We stopped in Allentown on a drive and were pleasantly surprised to find a cool Muhlenberg coffee and sandwich hangout.

One star for the delicious oat milk chai latte. We ordered the pizza bagel and avocado toast with egg and both were so bad and inedible we took one bite and threw it out. We were so excited to try this place it was more than disappointing. The eggs on the avocado toast tasted like bad eggs and the avocado was a spread- not fresh avocado. The shredded cheese on the pizza bagel is that kind that doesn't melt so it just singed and tasted like burnt hair. The chai was great though but we threw the rest of our money down the drain here. Waited a long time too for the food. read more

Stopped into Jay's Local while in town. Loved the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the staff, and everything about this awesome restaurant. I tried a few things on the menu and was thrilled with all my choices. The breakfast biscuit was delicious, the biscuit was soft, buttery and flakey. The turkey bacon and eggs were perfect. Then I tried the hamburger deluxe. It has to be one of the best burgers I've had. The meat, tomato and lettuce were so fresh, topped with their special sauce -- I'm craving another! So delicious. The potato wedges were cooked and seasoned perfectly. To end the meal I tried the iced Cinnamon Roll. Whoa! Sooo good. The drinks are great as well. If you've never been, I highly recommend going. I've been going to Jay's since October and I'm consistently impressed with the quality of options they have available at extremely reasonable (borderline cheap!) prices. Rarely am I ever compelled to write a Yelp review, but this place deserves major praise. I usually grab coffee and a quick snack; some of the best things I've gotten recently include the Waffle Muffin (so rich, also extremely good for hangovers!) and the cinnamon roll. Everything is fresh, local, unique (the honey bourbon maple syrup is pretty remarkable), and well-priced, considering the quality of food you're getting. The space is fantastic; everything is clean and well-designed for safe dining. Everyone wears masks, there's hand sanitizer available in multiple locations, and the abundance of outdoor seating makes dining outside for lunch a smart option. It's also right across from Muhlenberg, so there is a sense of campus culture around the entire space. I'm really happy this place sits right around the corner. You can't go wrong! read more

Popped into Jay's Local this afternoon for lunch. My wife and I ordered via phone which was quick and easy. We order the burger and veggie wrap with two iced teas. Everything was ready when we arrived. The inside was clean and inviting. Both the burger and the veggie wrap were fresh, tasty, and well prepared. We sat out front at the tables and we were very comfortable. The iced tea was also very good. Nice option for some fresh locally sourced food in the west end. read more

Just ordered a pickup breakfast from Jay's for the first time, en route to a hike in the mountains. The order system was very easy to navigate. Their menu is simple but covers all the essentials and allows you to modify orders easily (great for vegetarians!). The physical site is super welcoming and tidy. I arrived a little early, paid, and waited patiently in my car... and a staff member brought out my food! Amazing. I love this place! Every time I go, the owners are so friendly and welcoming. It feels very clean and safe with COVID regulations, and it's beautiful and cozy. I live in NYC and it feels a lot like the cafes in the city- high quality pastries and burgers, but at much more reasonable prices. This is a very strange place, I must say. There's turf grass outside instead of real grass, which ?????? Why?? Why not real grass??? Inside is pretty nice. Homey aesthetic. I live nearby and am so happy about having a cafe in the area, but I wish they would hire someone to help them make decent cuisine. The hamburger was thin, the potato wedges covered and cooked in what seemed a low quality oil, the avocado toast completely dry and underwhelming with no flavor-- these would all be so easy to fix. Use better oils, thicker hamburgers, add olive oil to the toast, really anything would make the food better. The ambiance inside is amazing, and the coffee is good. I would love a latte option rather than just drip but the filtered coffee is good. It's a beautiful space that doesn't really seem to offer any one excellent item. read more
