Wow - this place is a gem. I am so so glad my boyfriend and I were able to finally go and visit this restaurant. We made a same-day reservation and were lucky to get a table at 7:00pm. We've been to a lot of restaurants here in the Orlando area, and we can honestly say that this was the most unique place we've been from an experience standpoint. We were not sure what to expect as far as the combination of both food and entertainment, but let me tell you, we were blown away! The feel of the place is really simple and not overly done. It can be both a casual and a more dressy occasion if you so choose. It is not a very big restaurant and so the seating is pretty minimal. As an added plus all the tables were properly socially distanced 6 feet apart! Starting with the drinks, I ordered a Pink Rhythm - it was sweet but not overly sweet. Absolutely delicious, I had to have two! Now onto the food, honestly we did not expect the food to be THIS good. We had thought that the main attraction to this place is the live music and performance, but boy was I wrong! It's absolutely the food as well. Starting with the appetizers - we went with calamari and wings. The calamari was amazing, they were large pieces and a very large portion size. Perfectly seasoned and served with a delicious buffalo ranch and fried green beans. I've had a lot of calamari, these made my short list for best calamari for sure. The wings were also fantastic - a great spicy garlic sauce and crispy. Really enjoyed them! For the entrees we decided to try the bronzed salmon and the lamb pops. The salmon was cooked to perfection - the outside perfectly seared and the inside was juicy. Served with a base of mashed potatoes. Let me tell you, I am not a fan of mashed potatoes, but these had me wishing I had more. Super creamy and full of flavor, I really loved it. The lamb pops were also cooked to perfection, delightfully seasoned. Lamb is one of those things that can easily be over seasoned, and in this case they nailed the flavor without overruling the flavor of the lamb itself, it was an excellent balance. So you would think that this alone is enough for an awesome night, but add to this an amazing live music performance of jazz and classical blues, and it just makes the whole night that much better. The performer that night was Carmen Harrell and she was phenomenal. Amazing cover music and a great band to play along with her. This place definitely lends itself to a more romantic evening with your partner, but you could easily come here with some friends and enjoy the fantastic food and music. Just an amazing place, we are so excited we got to try this restaurant for the first time. So if you're planning to come to Jazz Tastings, be prepared to stay the whole night and know that you'll spend a good bit of money on the dinner, but it's absolutely worth every penny. We felt that in order to get the full experience of the place, that staying and enjoying the whole performance, eating fantastic food and enjoying some well-crafted drinks for the entire night was the way to get the most out of your money spent. It was good except the temp was lukewarm. I am a firm believer that hot things should be hot and cold things cold. I ate it all so quick. I could not even complain it was good just too cold. I told the waiter and ordered the eggplant stack and asked if it would come out hot. He made sure to have it out hot. My friend wanted the New York CheeseCake. She said she felt it was not a New York Cheese cake, and it wasn't that good. We shared it. I thought it was good. I would give the food 3.5-4 stars. Considering portion size and price. They have a great wine list. My friend had a white wine she loved and they are a generous pour. We were both pretty hungry and looking for food gasms. Instead we left with ear gasms for the awesome music they had. The good part about the food was they used really good ingredients. Everything was fresh. Everything was presented well. The bad part was small portion size,price and variety it was a little one note both the eggplant and the portobello were reduced in vinegar so it left more to be desired. In their defense I am a Vegetarian and there was not much I could choose. I would like to come back and give it another try. Let me end by saying this place is a rare gem here in Orlando. My husband and I went there for our 4th anniversary for the first time. The place, the band and the food were amazing! It was empty when we got there around 7PM so it was very comfy all the way through. Our server was great and I regret not remembering her name because she deserves all the good things I have to say about her: she was sweet, very friendly and respectful! Thursday nights are Brazilian Jazz night and I highly recommend it, the band is outstanding :) We had the Chef Board, which was bigger than I expected, with a great assortment of meats cheeses and fruits. Luckily, they were hosting a jazz brunch, which of course was right up our alley!! When you walk in you'll see about two dozen seat options, including bar stools, tables and booths. The host allowed us to select our preference to sit at. We opted for a booth towards the back so we could both enjoy the music and talk. The brunch menu was one page, but had a good variety of options. I went for the scramble. Hubs had the omelette. Both were delicious. For sides we did home fries and cheese grits. Found a spot at the bar after 15 min waiting. Was saddened to hear that they don't serve liquor. Ended up with a bottle of win. Had a second bottle because the live music was so good! Met the owner. I made a reservation 4 weeks in advance, even requested the table and was guaranteed that I would get it. We got there the table was taken by the band head singers friends. The music, the ambiance at Jazz Tastings is awesome. My friend and I went on Tuesday night, it wasn't very busy and we got to pick where we wanted to sit. The service was awesome! We had a good server who really took the time to explain the menu and the wines. He suggested the Malbec Altosur wine which is a smooth red wine. We tried the steak and tomato bruschetta and it was great. The steak used is filet so it was very tender, soft and full of flavor. The place itself is small and cute; if you are a jazz music lover you will appreciate the music which is live. The server also informed us that they have wine down Wednesday with a lot of special priced appetizers and wine. One thing that people should know, this place serves Tapas size appetizers and only serves wine and beer. There is no liquor. The prices are steep in my opinion but if you get the yelp special ($10.00 for $20.00 worth of food) you will not be disappointed. But I enjoyed most about this venue is that the musicians were playing throughout the first 30 minutes that I was there. They did an excellent job of that.
