Found out about this popular bar and grill. It certainly is one of the loudest places in New Lenox. JBD White Horse Inn is a long time hangout for locals who never shut the fuck up. A lot of them don't even need any help from alcohol. They're just naturally annoying to be honest. Coming in here the first time it had a crowd. It's more than the staff can handle. This is a place to expect to wait to be greeted, wait to place an order, wait to finally get food, wait to get the check, and wait to get card or change back and then can't wait to get the fuck out. Chaotic. It's about $6 for whiskey. Has a crap ton to choose from. There's food but it's nothing good really. It's about $10 for appetizers such as the Pretzel Bites. Unique take on it as instead of being made from frozen pellet things, this instead was like a torn up pretzel in pieces. Most of the rest of the menu is meaty. They have BLT, Italian beef, and others. Great place for watching sports if there's also a contest for who can be loudest. JBD White Horse used to be one of my favorite go-to spots. The beer is always cold, the food is good, and for years it was the kind of laid-back place I enjoyed coming back to regularly. Unfortunately, lately it feels like things have changed--and not for the better. My biggest issue is the inconsistency and constant upcharging. I used to order the same meal all the time and swap my side for vegetables with no problem. Now suddenly I'm being charged an extra $6 for vegetables, but at the same time I'm not even getting the side that's supposed to come with the meal. So basically, I'm paying full price for the sandwich, losing the included side, and then getting hit with another charge on top of it. What makes it even more frustrating is that it completely depends on who's working. Half the staff handles it one way with no issue, while the other half acts annoyed if you even ask about it. I even showed a receipt from the previous day proving I wasn't charged extra, and the response I got was basically, "It is what it is." That's not good customer service, especially for loyal customers who have been coming in for years and know the menu and pricing by heart. I don't mind paying for food, but I do mind feeling like I have to argue over sides and pricing every time I come in. It's disappointing because this place used to feel comfortable and consistent. First time eating at the JBD White Horse. We have picked up orders before but never dined in. I remember the old place. It was basically just a bar. When I was in nursing school we would come for a few drinks after a stressful exam and had a blast. I learned something new during this visit. You need to make reservation to get a seat in a bar. As you've probably read some of the other reviews about tables makes reserved that sat empty during your meal. We only got in because to people left in the bar while we stood around deciding to stay or leave. Seriously makes no sense to turn away customers for the possibility that some regular May show up. I gave this 3 star rating based on the food and the waitress was nice. But I doubt we will be back. There are so many places nearby that value ALL of their customers. read more

Nice place for pub grub and a beer. When we were there Wednesday evening the place was jumping ... but I think it always is. Nice location off US 30 and Maple Avenue in New Lenox and just a short hop from I-80 and a Metra stop. One at our table of four had the Spaghetti and Meatballs with Italian Salad special (4 stars very nice with just a bit past al dente noodles, the salad shined); and the other three at the table had the Pot Roast dinner - pot roast being a specialty of the house (3 stars all around for the pot roast which was very tender and tasty, but just a bit too fatty). Everyone at the table would get the same thing next time. For drinks one in our party had the special $5 Toscana red wine (1 star and past its prime ... so we changed up to a Peroni draft beer that was 4 stars), a Cape Codder [cranberry juice and vodka] 4 stars very nice), a Lemon Drop Martini (4 stars and the hit of the night), and an Espresso Martini (3 stars nice but a bit too much espresso). In our opinion they do the cocktail and beer thing very well, but fall off a bit on the wines. Ambiance was 3 stars very nice ... keeping in mind this place has its roots in a bar. They bring off the bar thing very nicely ... a large square-shaped bar in the middle of the room with high- and low-tables surrounding it. They also have a private room if you want to have a larger party accommodated. The noise level in the place is very loud, although you didn't quite have to yell at your table mate to be heard. Used to be a regular, but the newer manager Lauren has no control over drunk patrons, making it dangerous. Not sure where they found her but she is not worthy of what used to be a local gem. Seems like they got rid of good staff, or maybe staff left because of her. Either way.. poor decision. Out of the ingredients to make the watermelon drink they advertise on the patio twice this summer.. No watermelon! Lol. We never order carry out anymore. I specifically asked to give my order to the manager because they never get it right. She took my order and assured me she would check it..Still didn't get it right. I'm very disappointed that I have to leave a negative review. But, our experience last night is inexcusable and baffling. My wife and I love their food, the fun atmosphere, and haven't really had a bad experience until last night. After reading other reviews... it seems to be commonplace at White Horse recently. Last night, we went out for dinner (arrived at 8:00pm) and a few drinks with my wife's sister and her husband. We ordered two buckets of beer, some food, and settled in to enjoy our night out. I drink Miller Lite and everyone else was drinking Busch Light... so I had my own bucket. Throughout the night, the three other people at my table drank two buckets while I stuck with my one. About halfway through the night they dropped off the check. Which was weird... but maybe that particular waitress got cut and wants tipped prior to leaving. No biggie. My brother-in-law goes to order a third bucket (at 11:15pm) and the waitress refuses stating "he's (pointing at me) is cut off. He's too messed up." After getting the manager so we can discuss this... the manager stuck by her employee stating they've been watching me "jump around and be very animated." Which is untrue. The place is VERY loud and besides going to the bathroom, the only moving I did was to lean in so I could be heard. I understand the fear of over serving someone. I asked why someone hadn't came over, spoke with me, evaluated the situation and at minimum... notify me. And she said "they just use their best judgment." We stood up immediately and left. We will not be returning anytime soon. read more
