My husband and I, along with another couple, spent the day in Newport and decided to stop in Jamestown for dinner on our way home. We are so glad we did! Our waiter, James, was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and incredibly patient while we all debated what to order because everything sounded so good. His recommendation of the fish and chips was spot on! My husband and I both ordered it, and it was perfectly cooked with a light, crispy batter and delicious fries. Our friends had the mussels and the lobster roll, and they loved both dishes. The harbor view made the experience even better. It was the perfect setting to relax after a day of exploring. Great food, outstanding service, and a beautiful waterfront location--JB's delivered on all three. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back the next time we're in the area! read more

What a hidden gem! We stumbled upon this place and holy cow. The outside seating and view was amazing. We had the chowder and the meatballs and they were SO good. The pink sauce was delicious and def a must order. The chowder had a ton of clams and was a good mix of thick and flavorful. Then we got hot buttered lobster rolls. We've always enjoyed JB's on the Water and drive about an hour to dine here because of the waterfront views and good food. Our most recent visit on Saturday was disappointing due to several service issues. We had a reservation for four people and were told by the hostess that our table was occupied by guests who had just received their entrées, so we were welcome to grab a drink at the bar while we waited. No problem...however, after waiting about 40 minutes, we checked back in only to discover the hostess had confused us with another party that happened to have the same name. She asked if our party of eight had arrived, and that's when we realized there had been a mix up. While mistakes happen, it would have been appreciated if someone had checked in with us sooner so the issue could have been resolved sooner rather than later. Once seated, the food was excellent as always. The service continued to feel a bit off tho. Our server was pleasant, but could have checked on our table more frequently. When we were ready to leave and asked for the check, it took quite a while for him to return and collect our payment. When guests ask for the check, it's usually a sign they're ready to head out, and a quicker check in would have been appreciated. By the end of the meal, we had spent over two hours at the restaurant, much of it waiting, and ended up needing to rush to our next destination. What was most disappointing was that nobody acknowledged the reservation mix up or offered any sort of apology for the inconvenience. We still enjoy JB's because of the location, views, and food are great. This visit, however, highlighted some service issues that if addressed, would make the overall experience much better. read more

From the moment we arrived, everything just felt easy. Parking was simple, and the waterfront view set the tone right away. It's one of those places where you can actually relax and enjoy the atmosphere without any hassle. The service really stood out: fast, attentive, and genuinely friendly without feeling rushed. You can tell they have a solid system down, which makes a big difference when you're hungry and ready to enjoy your meal. The drinks were decent but nothing over-the-top, still enjoyable and well made. Where this place really shines is the food. Portions were generous, and everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. You definitely won't leave hungry. The only small letdown was the lobster portion in the crab cakes appetizer. For $32, we expected a bit more, but it ended up being a small, slightly rubbery claw. Just the one detail that didn't quite match the rest of the experience. Overall, this spot delivers where it counted. They had great service, beautiful views, and delicious, filling food. We dined at JB's on the Water last night with another couple (their first time) and had a terrific experience. The setting is hard to beat--right on the water--and if you're lucky enough to score a window table, the views make the evening even more enjoyable. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. We started with the summer burrata appetizer for two, which the kitchen thoughtfully split onto separate plates, a nice touch that was appreciated. For entrees, our table ordered the fish and chips, the fig and prosciutto burger, the fish of the day, and the lobster roll (hot). Everyone was very pleased with their meals, and there wasn't a single complaint at the table. Good food, excellent service, and a beautiful waterfront location make JB's an easy recommendation. I tried JB's for the first time and loved the atmosphere. Growing up here, I hadn't been back for a meal where the old restaurant was in years. I like what they have done with the outdoor seating area with a fireplace right next to the water. It is a beautiful spot! I had the barbacoa bowl and an aperol spritz. The bowl was a good size. Outstanding views. Beautiful day. Easter Sunday brunch. May have been THE WORST brunch I have EVER EVER had. Below average food. Excellent fruit salad. Excellent prime rib, but it disappeared 1/2 way through dinner. Ok tossed salad. Over cooked coconut chicken, which was inedible. Dried out egg bites, unappetizing looking French toast. It was pathetic. Never again. I attended a bridal shower here 5 months ago and it was very good. It's just a mistake to go out for Easter dinner. Lesson learned. read more

We came here for the views, and it did not disappoint - this place is right on the water in a quiet little nook in Jamestown that is part of a hotel. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day. Service was friendly and prompt, and the bloody mary was solid. We had the scallops, steak tips, and burrata salad, which were pretty good, but nothing really stood out as memorable. Loved the ambience, staff, food, etc. Stacey was awesome and our food was delicious: charcuterie, coconut shrimp, fig burger, and orange/burrata salad ( although it could use some beets). Second time, ambience and staff still wonderful but the food was lacking something this time. We ordered the cod, fish N chips, and fish tacos. They also had the same flavor which should not be the case. Fish N Chips should have that Cajun, peppery flavor (which it did). My son didn't eat his fish tacos bc it had that peppery Cajun flavor as well. My cod, I ate, bc I thought it's supposed to have that Cajun flavor. But! Just got into Wyndham resort and discovered the pub attached was open. Came in late , 5 min to closing. We ordered clam chowder. It was cool asked to have it warmed up, husband enjoyed it but I felt it was lacking in flavor maybe salt/pepper would have helped but the chief should have done that. Lots of clams. He ordered the chicken sandwich, pretty good. I had the fig/prosciutto flat bread (again cool seemed more bready then would have expected ). It had lots of cheese, visible prosciutto and fig balsamic drizzle on top. Bar had a beautiful setting view of water, wrap around seating in/outside. Bar area with high tops too. Very nice ambiance. Asked to be moved and was told that another table was reserved for someone else and I had to wait another 15 mintues. Seemed like the AC vent was ok for me but not the other customer. I had the blackened cod others had fish tacos. Food is just ok. My fish was supposed to have coconut rice and could not taste it. Crab cakes were somewhat cold due to the cold corn salad on top and they were not crispy. Calamari was dry and needed a dressing Everything is very salty. They ran out of swordfish, watermelon for the drinks we were having and also they ran out of deserts. There were no deserts. Not worth the price. The "Chef's Special" was special!! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit! Kev got the special which was ribeye with caramelized onion sauce. It was over a bed rice and roasted carrots. Kev asked our waiter Zach for some steak sauce "just in case", but he never used it. I ordered the BLT, bacon, lobster and tomato. I am adding bacon to my lobster rolls from here on out! I also ordered the lobster bisque but one spoonful in and it was a "no" for me. No salt, seemed congealed and not smooth. Thankfully, the general manager (?) came by and asked how our meal was. First time in my life I felt comfortable enough to tell someone I wasn't happy with something. He took my critique like a champ and took it off the bill. Came back and asked how he could make it better. That's great service. I also had the Jamestown Sunset. A drink with rum, sprite, orange, bitters and seltzer. Was not a fan. Seemed pretty watered down and was expecting a brighter more colorful drink. Pic included. I would pick something different next time. Our sailing club held a gathering at this restaurant on May 3rd and had reserved space for our group from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The service during our visit was excellent--our servers were attentive, friendly, efficient, and the food was very good. However, management seriously dropped the ball. Despite confirming the reservation for a four-hour window, we were later told (far too late to make other arrangements) that we would need to vacate by 6:30 PM to accommodate another event that was taking over the entire restaurant. This last-minute change completely altered what was supposed to be a relaxed evening with our group. To top it off, a 22% gratuity was automatically added to all checks. Bottom line: great food and service for sure, but the way management handled our reservation was both unprofessional and disappointing. If you're planning a group event here, be warned! They won't hesitate to kick you to the curb at the last minute (for a bigger group) and stick you with a 22% gratuity to boot! Won't be back or recommend this place. There are too many other really good restaurants around and there's no room to forgive management serving up this kind of BS experience. read more

Once a year we visit JBs for lunch after a morning on the beach. The food is always consistent but today's service was underwhelming. We asked for a wedge for our wobbly table, that was never brought to us or acknowledged after our ask. Drinks were ok, they felt warm and the margarita came out without salt (the waitress made a point to ask if we wanted a sugar or salt rim). We then asked if we could have 3 crab cakes instead of the 2 the appetizer came with, instead of asking with the chef we were told no. Lastly after we were finished our lunch we were given the check we weren't asked if we wanted any desserts or additional cocktails. All in all the food is very good and we enjoyed it but the service was lacking and not what we are used to when we visit. read more

We returned to our car 12 minutes over the 2hr limit to find our car ticketed at 5:14pm on a Saturday, after stores in town had closed and when there were plenty of empty spaces on the street. Had a glass of wine ($11) chowder and clam cakes ($14...(sent clam cakes back--too dense--overdone.). Chowder was ok--could have been great if they started their base with bacon.and clam stock.
