I wouldn't even give one star to JC Penny 12 Pak Mall store . The manager is the worst person ever, she's doesn't know how to talk with customer. I came to pick up my order and store was closed, no sign why and no answer on phone either. They wasted my time. Finally get hold of the manager and asked her to ship my package. She started telling me that no power, even though the mall was opened and lights were on in JCP. She lied and refused to ship package. The customer service is poor. Lawanda the rep was rude and tried to push off a JCPENNEY GIFT CARD on me and when I declined, she called for a manager and said I was rude! I bought the suit with my AMEX, and advised that's how I wanted the return. I would not suggest anyone to come here. Maybe this is is why their stores are closing. Update I had to return with my CC, and the rep Lawanda was very confrontational. Stephen the Supervisor is the only reason I am changing the star rating to TWO! I will call and speak with either Julie the Store Mgr or I'll call Corporate because Lawanda should NOT be be dealing with customers in the manner she does without repercussions. Last update! I spoke with Julie, the GM and she was AWESOME! So because of her kindness and hearing my story, I'm going to give 3 stars! Next time I go, hopefully I can give 5! Long lines at the register and only a few registers open . The shoe department needs a larger selection and variety. I'm not sure if they were so many new people because they are getting ready for the upcoming holiday season. The MOD did offer verbal assistance but walked away before making sure transaction went smoothly. It didn't it took 40mins and another cashier before I left. I'm really starting to think JCPenney is actively trying to go out of business. I had hundreds of dollars of clothes in my arms. I drove 30 miles from out of town to go to this particular JCPenney. Not one dressing room is open. None. Everyone is allowed to enter the store maskless, no other COVID protocols in place, so the dressing rooms being closed is obviously not for COVID safety. The dressing rooms at my local store are open so it's not even a corporate decision, it's the store management making these decisions. Why tank your holiday sales and add more stress to your already stressed out staff? Whoever is in charge should be canned. Whatever. I guess they don't want my money and I guess I no longer want to be a Platinum credit card holder for JCPenney. Even their 50% off everything in the store plus my JCPenney rewards still doesn't make up for wasting my time, travel, and energy. Good luck, goodbye, and good riddance!! read more

This is the closest JCP to me, and it's your average JCP. They try to keep it clean and organized, but we know how Novi people are. We are a mess and just throw things around. Sometimes you can walk in here on a Saturday and it's a zoo, and the clothes are just thrown everywhere. If you have a coupon, or just want a cheap shirt, head to this JCP. read more

Went here on Thanksgiving for their $10 off $10+ coupon and it was kind of a hot mess, lol, but usually this store is pretty nice. It looked like they renovated it recently, too. I used my coupon for a $75 Calphalon saute pan, marked down to $19.99, so it was $9.99 for me before tax - pretty good deal. Checkout lines were crazy but I checked out early, and all employees were helpful and pleasant - no small feat considering the day. read more

Visited Penney's for dresses for two teens to wear to a wedding. The juniors section of nice dresses was only a few racks and didn't have much in the way of selection with color or length. We wandered over to the woman's section which had a nice selection, but nothing in a size smaller than a 4, when the girls were a size 2 and 0. I even checked online, and a lot of the styles simply didn't go below a 4. That was really frustrating for them when they were finding dresses they liked but not in their size. I wouldn't recommend shipping here for formal occasions if you have a teen or are a smaller woman. read more

This store is really great. We went here last weekend and so much was on sale. Love the huge clearance section you have with so many great deals. My money definitely went a lot further for back to school shopping for my girls. Spent little money and got a lot of tops and even jackets. I was able to buy something for myself which never happens when I am shopping with my girls. The only downfall was there wasn't to many sales people working the customer service area so Today when we went to return some tops that didn't fit we had to wait awhile to get helped. No wonder JC Penney isn't doing well! We went there tonight looking for a mattress cover. We couldn't find any sales people in the near area. 2 register stations were closed and said go to the appliance department. WHAT? We were in bedding. There wasn't anybody at the appliance register either! We walked around in a circle twice. Finally my husband said forget it lets go somewhere else. We threw the items on one of the mattress displays and left. Oh on our way out we saw a lady at the children's register with a line up of people. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond. A sales girl asked if we needed help. Talked and joked with us we got our mattress cover, just slightly more expensive but worth it as we walked up to the registers and there were not one but two ladies at the checkout! You can find great markdowns on many items. I once bought a pair of Liz Claiborne pants on clearance for $1.97! Yes, $1.97, originally $40+. Score! They email coupons, and I used to get them in the mail but haven't recently. Customer service is average and lines can get long. I really like this JCPenney though the new layout is similar to Kohl's & I spent a lot of time walking in circles not going the right way. I had to hunt down a store directory by the elevator because there wasn't one by the escalator. They need those shopping carts like Kohl's has as well because my arm was sore for days from lugging my clothes around for 2 hours. There's lots of dressing rooms & I was here 3 times in a week & 2 of the 3 times the checkout service was fast but the 3rd time I stood in line for 20 minutes & the 2 people in front of me each only had 1 item. It was lunch time & there was one woman working the 4 register station. The 1st time an ink tag was left on my sweater so I had to come back which was really annoying because I ended up spending more money. They have a much better selection than they used to especially in the petites department which is usually full of fuddy duddy clothes that I would never wear. I had the most awesome time here recently! I was looking for a cool fall coat and the store was going thru their big reveal for the new concept. They are going to have mini boutiques-Izod, Betseyville, Cosmopolitan, Liz Claiborne, Monet, etc., and everyone was bustling about getting ready. The winter coats hadn't been put out yet but an associate, who was going on break called Shane over to help me find them. Yes, his name was Shane and he explained that he was usually in Furniture but was helping them get ready. I told him what I was looking for and he ran quickly in the back and came out with some really great styles. I settled on a grey three-quarter length car coat with lurex threads-really cool! I expressed to Shane how excited I was to see the new Betseyville line and he took me over to see it. What started as a quick jaunt became a grand tour as I got to see everything that was going up, plus heard what was also coming! They are going to have a Starbucks! And lots of cool stuff is coming, including Martha Stewart! I can't wait!!! And if you see Shane, ask him to take you on the Grand Tour! Super cool! read more

Kaylee is amazing and always super social and does great work. I have very long hair so I'm very stingy when it comes to the cut and she understands and freshens me up to my liking whenever I go it. She also waxes my brows to perfection. I would recommend Kaylee 100%! (I can't say I've had huge success with other stylists there, but everyone is different.) read more

Honestly this store has the worst customer service. Your cashiers need to take a class on how to deal with customers and drop the attitude that they have. The only reason why I've been shopping here recently was due to their low prices online and free $10 rewards. Both times was because of an online order. The first time I came was to return an online order. Not knowing where to return my items I figured I'd return at any cashier like any normal department store. After waiting in line in the women's department for over 20 mins due to the cashier taking her sweet little time ringing up customers and making unnecessary comments she lets me know she can't process my return and I need to go to the online pick up area to return my item. Second time was for an online pick up which said my full order was ready. I arrived and no one was at the return area so I walked to the door leading to the back and asked if someone could help me the cashier walks to the front through the other door and said yes? With an annoyed look on her face. I'm sorry, did I bother you while you were doing nothing in the back? I provided her with my phone number and last four digits of my card she grabs my order and dumps the items on the counter does this look right to you? No these shorts aren't mine. I'm missing an item. She says I don't see it on your order is it ready for pick up? Yes, and I show her the order on my phone. Well we don't have it. Ok will you still charge me for it? I don't show it here. Ok does that mean you will refund me for the item because it says it's ready for pick up? I'm trying to make you understand I don't see it on my end. I'm thinking in my head I understand you, but YOU are not answering my question. She said it's not on the order here. I sign for the item and leave because she was not being very helpful at all. This review is for the salon. I called 30 minutes before my appointment and specified that I need a DRY haircut and NOT a master stylist. I was told an express cut is $22. Just a plain old haircut, my hair was perfectly washed and straightened. The stylist sprayed my whole hair down, didn't bother to straighten it after doing so. I just got a trim and it wasn't even a good one. I was then charged $40 plus a tip. This is not the first time this has happened to me here. I will never come back here again. read more

This review is for the photo department. We bought the groupon, so we expected to get what we paid for -- which wasn't much. And yet, they were still able to disappoint us! We had an appointment for 11:15am on a Sunday. We didn't get called in to see the photographers until 12:30. The lighting on the pictures was all wrong -- Just horrible shadows. The photographers did nothing to try to get my kids to smile, although the kids were already grumpy and hungry from the wait. When it was time to choose the pictures we wanted, the salesperson was so distracted (answering phone calls, talking to other customers, etc) that she didn't show us all of our pictures. When we got home, we realized that we left behind some really cute ones -- but one we especially wanted. I went back to buy the one image but was told that since I wanted it digitally (who doesn't these days?), I needed to buy the whole album. I refused to spend $80 and left without it. So there you have it. It was a very poorly run operation. And the pictures aren't very good. read more

Within the past few months, I have become reacquainted with the greatness that is JCPenney! The variety of styles and trends, great prices, and the value placed on maintaining great customer service, have made my past few shopping trips here simply amazing! On a recent visit to the Twelve Oaks Mall location, I had an especially great customer service experience. After browsing through several other stores in the mall (and clearly losing all track of time), I finally made my way to my original destination--JCP. I had a store coupon that had expired the day before, and was anxious to find out if I could still use it! I approached one of the cashiers at the checkout counter, and was immediately assured by her that my coupon would be honored despite the fact that it was expired. Relieved, I started off on my search for some great new wardrobe additions. After about 5 minutes, I heard the words every shopper dreads: "Good evening JCP shoppers. The time is now 8:45, and our store will be closing in just 15 minutes!" I frantically scoured the clearance racks and found a cute blazer. After trying it on, I darted over to one of the checkout lines. As I stepped up to the counter, I realized that the blazer had no price tag on it! By this time, it was already 8:55. Feeling defeated, I sat the blazer on the counter and informed the cashier that there was no price on it. Instead of rolling her eyes or appearing frustrated (which would have been understandable given the circumstances), she assured me that it was no problem. She used her walkie-talkie to call for a store manager, who immediately came over and tried to find the blazer online. When she couldn't find the blazer online, she used the walkie talkie to call for several other employees to assist in the search. They each stepped away from their end-of-the-night tasks to search for the blazer. After about 10 minutes with no success, the manager told me that she would sell me the blazer for $20 since I had found it on the clearance rack. I gladly accepted the offer, pulled out my coupon and was on my merry way! I was truly appreciative of the effort that was put in by everyone involved to make this such a positive experience! read more

I walked into the men's suit department with the impossible task of finding a matching pair of slacks (size 34x36) to my husband's navy sport coat. Devin was the sales rep helping me. He was able to help me find an amazing shirt, tie and vest for the suit I was trying to piece together, but he didn't have any pants in Stock that were the right size. He was insanely helpful and curteous. When it became apparent that I was going to be heading to a different store to look for slacks, he gave me some recommendations; which paid off because I was able to find what I was looking for. Thought I would give Penny's a second chance I used to shop there years ago. They where running a national TV add specials 9 to 1 Sat. So I went at 9, doors where locked, but an employee let us in, saying they should have been open for the sale at 9am. While looking around a manager came over and asked us to leave as he was not informed by management. We left came back at ten, purchased the sweatshirt we wanted for our grandson. Today went to wrap his gift to mail, and there is a security tag on it, says do not remove, ink filled. What a friggen hassle I will never shop there again, three strikes in one day and you are out. Christi (20s african American female) was awesome!! The store was in disarray after the father's day sale and could not locate a certain size of pants. She stopped what she was doing and immediately helped me and stated I could order more if needed since we only found one pair. I tried to find a manager to tell of the awesomness, but she looked right at me and said she was busy (the manager). At least Christi has is it right. I'll be back!! read more
