Went to this location yesterday looking for a gift for my grandma and I was so happy when I found one, but even happier because of the excellent customer service provided by Mike at the jewelry department. He was so helpful and told me about the sales and checked prices on things for me. He put the bracelet in a nice box for me and nice bag so I don't even need to wrap it now. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience during my photos session this past Sunday. I wanted a holiday photoshoot for my newborn, being that it's January o called before making my appointment to ensure that they were still doing holiday and had Christmas props. I was told they did and would until end of January. A day before my appointment I received a call from studio since I have a newborn I was told to try and bring baby in fed and asleep if possible. At this time I reconfirmed I was doing the holiday photoshoot and they even suggested using a wreath around baby. All sounded great. The day of my photo session comes and 30 minutes past my schedule appointment I am told they have no holiday props and only the background. So not only were they behind but now I'm told they do t have what I scheduled and arranged for. Eventually 1 hour later we did a photo session with just holiday background. At this point baby is hungry again and fussy since it's 1 hour later then scheduled and planned for so pictures did not come out great. I asked for a manager to call me and 2 days later I have not received a call. I called and was told she had left for the day. Very disappointed with entire experience. read more

DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES HERE!! I bought a washer dryer for my parents around thanksgiving, my mom chose a higher end unit than she planned on getting but the price was good so she went for it. Even got the extended warranty for 5 years!! Delivery went as expected. After using it for a few days she realized she didn't like it and should have gone with the cheaper model. We called to schedule an exchange and that's where things went south. They off the bat told us we would have to pay a ridiculous restocking fee which we refused and that was not applicable to us at the time of return. They then told us that we would get a decision in about 48 hours. No one called. Contacted them again. Was told it would take 72 more hours for a decision. AGAIN NO ONE CALLED. It's been more than 2 months trying to get them to take the machines back and everyone I've dealt with is absolutely incompetent.....even the store manager!! Last contact we had with an associate they said we would have to call the manufacturer!! Un-freaking believable. Stick to reputable retailers like Best Buy. Don't see how JC Penny will stay in business much longer. read more

Went to this store to purchase an item that was on sale in the housewares department. Before going to the store, I phoned and asked the sales associate to check to see if it was in stock. They had two left so I asked that they hold them for me and I would be there shortly. When I arrived at the store and to the housewares department and told the cashier that the two items on hold were for me, she starting scanning them and they were $30.00 higher than they were in the sales book. I informed her of this and she called for the Department Manager, Shirley came over and told me that to go home and get the book and bring it back and if it was in there she would give them to me at the sales price and an additional 10%. I thought this lady must be crazy when I live 10+ miles away and gas is $4.50/gal! I asked her if she was for real?! Because that's just absurd. I told her that as the department manager, she should know what sales books are sent out to cardholders. She said she had one in the back and that if it was in there she would "honor" the price. It was in the book, and she told the sales associate to scan the item. She not one apologized to me NOR did she HONOR the additional 10% discount. When I asked her if she could turn around her badge so that I could read her name, she had the audacity to write her name down on a piece of paper as "if" I couldn't read or spell.! I was very taken back by this. I am an educated woman and all I wanted was the price of the item that was listed in the sales book. That was NOT necessary for her to go there. I just can't believe how snide she was. I thought that was very UNPROFESSIONAL. Needless to say, as I continued to read her badge she's a "SUPERVISOR". I can not believe a store of this magnitude would hire/promote a person such as "SHIRLEY",who's characteristics clearly display that she has NO defined Customer Service Skills! She's a disgrace to this store and whomever promoted/hired her into this position. This person should be reprimand and I suggest that Shirley should be demoted and mandated to a Customer Service workshop/class. This is NOT how you treat people and I have written JC Penney's and I'm awaiting a phone call/e-mail from them because this type of behavior is detrimental. If she treated me like this and I am writing about it , just imagine how many "others" she's been unruly with! read more

I was having a dispute with JCP over an online Christmas purchase. I was called on 12/26 to pick up my order at the Torrance store (Del Amo Mall). My order was for 3 items, but only 2 were there. I signed for them anyway on 12/26 and was reassured by the clerk that when the last item arrived JCP would contact me. They never did, I finally called corporate and was informed that my TOTAL order had already been picked up by me on 12/26. I argued with corporate and filed a complaint , but they STILL insisted I had picked up ALL the items and that I would have to pay for the item I never got! I was REALLY MAD. I have been a loyal customer of JCP for 15+ years and was appalled. Finally, I went to the Torrance store (Del Amo Mall) with my paperwork and spoke to the manager, Patty. She was courteous, respectful, and immediately addressed the issue. She offered me a credit or to replace my missing item. After a prompt investigation, she recovered my missing package and apologized for the inconvenience. She explained that the item had been shipped to them later and had been misplaced. My advice is if you have a dispute with JCP, go to the store where you made your purchase and speak to the manager. Patty was great and the epitome of customer service. I would give her 5 stars if not for the corporate hassle. read more

My review is for the portrait studio only. I had a 6:20 pm appointment and arrived 5 minutes early. We waited until 7:15 to be called. The photographer hinted that they were behind schedule, but should have said it would be another hour, so we could go elsewhere. A family of 5 arrived late for their 5:45 appointment, but she took them at 6:20 (our appointment time) while we sat and waited. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. The other photographer did not seem to care that we were waiting and seemed to spend an excessive amount of time with a different family, he may have been flirting, but not sure about that one. They did offer us two free sheets from our photo choices, but nevertheless, we will not be going back there. Our photo shoot seemed rushed and the photographer cut off my daughter's head in some of the shots and did not help her to pose nicely or sit up strait. She made dumb comments throughout the shoot, although she did apologize for the inconvenience. 2 stars. read more

I recently placed an on line same day pick-up order for 2 packs of socks, one white and one black. 5:00 p.m. that same day I received an email saying that they were cancelling half of the order because they no longer had the black ones. Called customer service, recording said there was a 30 minute wait time to speak to someone, 52 minutes later spoke to a RUDE C/S person who did not have a problem telling me that they have 600 calls waiting (if that is the case Penney's should hire more people because they really don't sell anything that can't be purchased elsewhere and the way they are closing stores they need all the business they can get)and that is the reason why I had to wait. I asked if the order could be placed with another store and was told I need to go back on line and reorder. I did reorder and when I went to pick up the white ones they had the black ones which I purchased and was told that they could not cancel the other order at the other store, I would have to call customer service and cancel myself. Pick-up was Saturday and today is Friday and have not been able to cancel order yet because no one answers the phone. Situations like this is one of the reasons they are losing business aside from them trying to cater to the young people who could care less about JC Penney's, they should have stuck with the core people who made them what they WERE. Oh yeah, I filled out their survey and they sent me an email saying "Unfortunately, your review did not meet our guidelines to be eligible for publication on our site" which means they don't want the truth known. While I was walking around Del Amo Fashion Center, I decided to come and check out JCPenney because I felt like checking out what this particular store had to offer. To my surprise, almost the entire third floor was filled with men's clothing. That put a smile on my face because the selections of clothing looked like clothing I could imagine myself in. The huge men's department carried everything that a man could ask for in a typical department store. What I also thought was cool was the fact that on the first floor (underground level), there were signs pointing out that this location would become one of the 500 JCPenney locations selected to start selling appliances this fall. This is cool because these new appliance departments can help JCPenney compete with Sears and become more successful in bringing in more profit from the sales they're making. From this knowledge, I can know that this JCPenney store is here to stay for a long time. read more
